Logs
As the summer months come to an end, and with daylight savings ending for us real soon, it's time for an extended weekend trip to Rotorua (from Wellington). Lots of activities are on the agenda, and geocaching is one of them. I had several specific caches marked to find on this trip, some to meet specific requirements, some were such fun puzzle solves that I just had to come and sign the log, and are some just because. This cache is one of them.
That was tricky. Long arms helped. All good here.
Thanks to Mc Jandals for placing this cache here.

After approaching for the wet feet side (with difficulty) we decided to reassess and looking at the t rating decided this mustn’t be gz. Approaching it from the correct level helped allot. Cheers
Glad we didn’t encounter anyone coming the other way. Forgot how narrow this road gets. Parked up and wandered up the road, for a while thinking we might end up wet. But I stood and just looked, and looked and the spotted the hide. Nice work.

Been meaning to get up Ngamuwahine Rd to tidy up the haul of caches that had accumulated since we were last here a while ago. No worries with the find, nicely done and no close calls with the river below.

Came out for a drive this afternoon... just the 3 today, and this was the first. Risky underfoot due to the recent decent (and much needed) rain, so it was lucky that Mr L quickly spotted the cache; whew!
YES!!!! FOUND IT!!!! Our first attempt was a total fail, looking in completely the wrong spot (however the water was fun to kick around in especially with such a hot day)
Went further up the road to find the other caches but returned to this on the way home as my stubbornness wouldn’t let me leave without a find. So satisfied now haha

We had a lovely day out kayaking and then walking the Ngamuwahine Track. This was found on our way up to the reserve - thanks for the parking advice as we had a trailer with the kayaks on, so definitely needed a safe park. TFTC
New Year’s Day: A solo effort today... My brother is a cleaner. His best days are public holidays because most businesses are closed. He is able to do his job without having to factor in customers. I asked to be dropped off at Ngamuwahine while he went to work. I had no idea how long either of us were going to take...
Once I was back within mobile coverage, I called ahead and arranged for pick up... I was a bit apprehensive about this hide - The description made it sound a bit dangerous... Yes, there was an element of risk, if you count the hidden blackberry running through the grass. I just leaned in and took hold of this one - Good coordinates and no worries. Thanks McJandals and TFTC.

Out and about sear hing for jewels and this was the last for our collection. No problem with the find TFTC.
This is the one where we sent Mr down to the river to search for the cache. Poor Mr negotiated the bank, through the bush only to have Little one and Mrs laugh and yell "it's over here silly billy goat!"
It was a great cache to finish the day. Thanks McJ.
note there was water inside the cache.

Find number 5556. Yesterday I got a call from Boges about going for a walk in the Kamais to clear up some relevantly new caches. This was the first of the day. When I got the nearby cache I had some names for the CO. I have some more for the CO with this one. And they are all good.A nice quick find. Boges parked safely while I went and made the find. Thank you for the placement.
In January I had surgery so I wanted somewhere flat to go to see how I went. I called KGD to see if was available and he was so off we went.
This was the 1st for the day and was soon in hand. The road is narrow so park in the suggested area tftc

We had both been eyeing up the new caches around Ngamuwhaine Track since they were published, but with the walk being to short for a day mission hiking and a little two long for a quick find a short mission is what was called for.
Found a safe park next to GZ, but got a bit confused on what part of the bank we were meant to be searching, so headed to the listed parking coords to see if we could find a way to back to GZ. With no luck there and still being confused I went to read the description where all questions were answered. Back at GZ, we were able to make the find. Thanks for the hide.

Heading out with HKCB for a few caches up in the Kaimai's to mark the start of the official start to winter (in our minds at least there are only two seasons, daylight savings, not daylight savings). We left early in the hopes of keeping in the good books with our respective wives, cause you never want to piss them off.
Have been meaning to grab this one for some time but as usual the time was never quite right, hence it being published for so long. So plans were made and finally we were going to knock the ones along here off. On the drive in we were fortunate to see a nice little hind standing on the raod. We saw it, it saw us and just stood there, but of course by the time I got the camara out it had decieded to bugger off.
Heading back from our short walk and a quick grab of this one without issue
Thanks for the placement and short walk.

Grrr! After lots of bush crashing through gorse and blackberries we back-tracked and finally found the cache near where we had first been looking
I was in Horopito with two of the kids staying with our neighbours at their Holiday home when Philip.Perry mentioned to me him and the others were thinking of going into the Kamais to get the new cache. I asked the neighbours if they could bring the kids home on Sunday I had mission i needed to attend to. So 330am start for me managed a FTF in Rotorua and a very close second place on another cache. Over to Tauriko at 930am for breakfast and get phone call from Gap wanting to know what I was doing Im coming with you Squirrel nutcase and Philip.Perry in to the Kaimais turns out they didnt know we were meeting at 11am to go into Kaimais and he was in Rotorua... lucky I'm here to organize everyone lol. Came down here to finish the caches we haven't found yet lucky to have Philip.perry as hes already found them so were all quick grabs and sign.

This cache had me searching for ages. Finally found in what I though was the most unlikely of places thanks to a small geo-trail that is starting to form. Not too tricky to retrieve but a nice little exercise in dexterity. Cheers Mc Jandals, TFTC

Out on a day off collecting some new caches. I love the bush area up here but hate this road in and out- lucky not many cars up here today Parked in the suggested parking place and walked back. I was wondering whether I was on the right track and took a look at the lovely swimming hole. Pleased when I saw the cache and with a good grip I soon had it in hand, signed and placed back. TFTC
Compared to the not even big enough to be a nano in the woods (*!!!!*) further down the road, this was a pure delight. TFTC. Now back to making cups of tea for the invalid....
We were out of town when all the alerts came through....I asked myself why? Every time I leave town a stack of new caches appear ...bother...we continued on with the days plans...On the way home We checked and still not logged ..."not that means much" so dressed in our best clothes,we decided to hit the track for a look ..unbelievable {FTF } a clean log...precariously placed and sure footed the sneaky we container was retreived ..log signed and returned as found ...thanks McJ getting to know this area well great to have some new placements in this area cheer for your effort
{FTF} (joint). We were in the Tron on non caching business when the alerts came through- whaaat?? Oh well never mind. On the way home I convinced Macwatt to detour up here (he washed his van last night ). Very precarious spot for this cache. I'm glad I saw it straight away as I would hate to have lingered long - as it was i had to perform some gymnastics to sign. . Thanks for putting more caches up here Mcjandals.
