As the summer months come to an end, and with daylight savings ending for us real soon, it's time for an extended weekend trip to Rotorua (from Wellington). Lots of activities are on the agenda, and geocaching is one of them. I had several specific caches marked to find on this trip, some to meet specific requirements, some were such fun puzzle solves that I just had to come and sign the log, and are some just because. This cache is one of them.

GPS was all over the place here, so relied on the hint. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, until I saw it. Outer container had water in it, but inner and log were safe and dry.

Thanks to Mc Jandals for placing this cache here.

We had a lovely day out kayaking and then walking the Ngamuwahine Track. I have to admit that this cache took us quite some time to find - the hint was helpful but there were several qualifiers for it and my GPS was bouncing around.... Eventually we were successful, TFTC Smile

Mr six found this one himself. Expected it to take a little while after reading the comments but our GPS was right on track and led us to the right spot. Great cache

New Year’s Day: A solo effort today... My brother is a cleaner. His best days are public holidays because most businesses are closed. He is able to do his job without having to factor in customers. I asked to be dropped off at Ngamuwahine while he went to work. I had no idea how long either of us were going to take...

Admittedly, this was the most challenging cache for me. I found the coordinates to be slightly out for me, and my trusty iPhone gps swung all over the place. I searched all sorts of ‘leans’ without much luck. I probably should have been more methodical, but I was hoping for a fast find. I glanced at my phone and realised I had mobile signal. A PAF was incredibly useful. My help-desk was quite specific about where to look and I went back to the first place I started searching. Bingo! I was a bit reluctant to reach in. Thanks McJandals and TFTC.

Find number 5558. I got a call from Boges wanting to walk this track and clear it of caches. Enjoyed the bush walk to GZ. As Boges headedin one direction I picked on a likely hint options and soon spotted it. Called Boges over and he did the signing. Then it was on with our adventure. Thank you for the placement.

In January I had surgery so I wanted somewhere flat to go to see how I went. I called KGD to see if was available and he was so off we went.

Ok we have got a couple of caches now and we know how the owner thinks. Took some time to find as I went too far and got called back by KGD. tftc

We had both been eyeing up the new caches around Ngamuwahine Track since they were published, but with the walk being to short for a day mission hiking and a little two long for a quick find a short mission is what was called for.

Found this cache on the way back from Ngamuwahine Track cache. Had just replaced the cache some hunters came past, had a chat before we went our sparate ways. Thanks for the hide.

Heading out with HKCB for a few caches up in the Kaimai's to mark the start of the official start to winter (in our minds at least there are only two seasons, daylight savings, not daylight savings). We left early in the hopes of keeping in the good books with our respective wives, cause you never want to piss them off.

Have been meaning to grab this one for some time but as usual the time was never quite right, hence it being published for so long. So plans were made and finally we were going to knock the ones along here off. On the drive in we were fortunate to see a nice little hind standing on the raod. We saw it, it saw us and just stood there, but of course by the time I got the camara out it had decieded to bugger off.
Arrived at the parking coordinates and headed up the track, with slightly cooler mornings and a good track we made most excellent time and it wasn't long. was glad to be crossing the streams after so little rain and then soon had the cache in hand. We had decieded to grab these caches along here on the return so we had something to look forward too.

Thanks for the placement and short walk.

Love it! Nice habitat.

This one was hilarious. We started searching right where the cache would turn out to be but I missed it. Skip forward 30mins and I returned to find the cache right where my five year old told me to look earlier.... Lesson: Don't ignore the kids - sometimes random comments are worth listening to. Cheers Mc Jandals, TFTC Smile

I was in Horopito with two of the kids staying with our neighbours at their Holiday home when Philip.Perry mentioned to me him and the others were thinking of going into the Kamais to get the new cache. I asked the neighbours if they could bring the kids home on Sunday I had mission i needed to attend to. So 330am start for me managed a FTF in Rotorua and a very close second place on another cache. Over to Tauriko at 930am for breakfast and get phone call from Gap wanting to know what I was doing Im coming with you Squirrel nutcase and Philip.Perry in to the Kaimais turns out they didnt know we were meeting at 11am to go into Kaimais and he was in Rotorua... lucky I'm here to organize everyone lol. Came down here to finish the caches we haven't found yet lucky to have Philip.perry as hes already found them so were all quick grabs and sign.

A day off and a dirty car - wash it or go caching Caching won But this one did take a lot of looking and circling and even though it wasn’t where my GPS pointed I came back to it and noticed something. Love the camo but I was surprised with the water in it but waterproof log sheet all ok. TFTC

The terrain and weather are making the GPS very unreliable today. Searched an object at 0m but no luck. After a PAF, I widened the area and found the cache somewhere I'd already had a quick look but discounted as 14-15m from GZ. Nice cache. Haven't seen any that big but I did get a native stick insect on my hand earlier and the North Island Robins have been my constant companions. TFTC.

I assumed...which is bad that because we had an FTF down the way a bit all the rest would be a formality...so Off we go dress in our Sunday best traipsing through bush hunting down a well placed cache...this critter was really at home and deserves a wonderful home like this ...thanks McJ for a crafty placement in an area that really deserves a cache or two...I bet I know who’s cursing now lol...sorry DC but I am happy to take the { FTF } today ...you won yours yesterday great cache McJ and a very apt camo appreciate your efforts thanks

{FTF} joint. Well there was no choice now we had to proceed up the track - no lunch or drink agh! And it was hot! . This one got us going in circles and there were lots of hint items. I hunted at an item of interest but had no success so moved on. Macwatt circled back and had a "man" look and spotted the very well camoed and hidden cache. Thanks McJandals for another great cache.
