Another early trip over to the Wairarapa, delivering files, so time for a few more caches before I head back to work this afternoon. What a fascinating bloke Mr You-know-who was, certainly a man who stood by his opinions! As with past finders, my GPS was 12m out from published GZ but the Solution Checker hint was very clear, so I quickly found the cache (for me; considering the type!) which was dry and in good nick. TFTC J'N'K
We were in town doing some other caching and stopped to find this one. We had tried about a year ago but it was dark, GPS all over the place and we were exhausted. Today in daylight we managed to locate the cache and get it signed off. TFTC
This was an interesting puzzle to complete. Upon arrival at this peaceful place we had to widen our search to find the hint area, but once sighted it was clearly the right place to look. Fortunately the small container was then soon spotted. Thanks J'N'K for the history lesson.
Although this gentleman was unknown to us, we soon gathered the required numbers, however finding the cache took a little longer to spot. Although the hint clearly indicated the location, for us the cache was 8m NNE of our calculated coordinates. TFTC
Solved a few months ago with a light bit of reading. Stopped here - a place we hadnt been to before - for some lunch on the way to Martinborough. Quick find before our munch. Thanks J N K
This all got a bit confusing in the end. I was sure I was in the right location to find the cache but the hint didn't apply. In the end I had to ignore the GPS and find the hint item, then successfully logged the cache.
Great day out with kimmy+co and Hayzz, I turns out featherston is our middle locations, and unfortunately it won't take us long to cache out the meeting point. The hint on geochecker was vital to us finding this.Quick find after we realized we were missing a clue.
Tftc out with geeves90 and hayzz. The coordinates were slightly off but the hint was amazing!
A great day out finding caches with Kimmy+co and Geeves90TFTCThe hint was more than helpful for finding this.
I was driving through the town and decided to try for a couple of caches just off the main drag.
This was the fsecond and after just about a complete circuit of the bed I finally located it.
Cheers for the cache, J 'N' K.

A day in the Wairarapa today beginning in Featherston, then onto Martinborough, over to Carterton and behind then down to Greytown for the night. 18 Ad labs, 22 trads, 22 mystery and 1 multi, 4 muggled out so didn't look and only one DNF.
After a early start and leaving Wellington, this was the first of the day. All quiet and a quick find. Thanks for the cache.

Returning home from a day caching around Greytown, targeting high favourited caches for the Wheel of Challenges. Having solved this one some time ago, I stopped by to make the find. I enjoyed the research, reflects Featherston and Brandon cache in central Wellington. FP from me. All good in container, tftc!
Out and about doing a few caches today. After a quick solve of the puzzle and a nice little walk we soon had the cache in hand. tftc
I had solved the puzzle last night before we left the area so we went for a quick find. Mr CD spotted it, very well hidden. TFTC
Solved this a while back. Finally got to locate it today while out exploring the Wairarapa
Third time of asking and finally found it. Needed the hint which I had not written down when I solved it. Lesson learnt! Tftc.
A nice quick find thanks to the hint. My GPS had me 15m away. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Today we Cruised from Lower Hutt to Greytown. Rain threatened but did not eventuate.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

It's Friday afternoon, and the Seagnoid and I are starting to make our casual way through the Wairarapa, having driven over the Rimutaka Hill in order to attend a weekend gathering of caching, eating (far too much), drinking (one of the rare occasions), and generally having a great time catching up with friends and meeting a few new people too.
But with the sun shining and an open road ahead of us, there's always time for 2 things, to find a cache, and to get an ice cream! But the cache comes first. We parked up about 40m away from GZ and were able to take a direct rout in. The Seagnoid was the first of us to spot the likely hide location, and then the cache itself.
No problems with this one, and we were soon on our way again to enjoy a deserved ice cream. Thanks for setting this cache up.

Stopped off here for a little break on our way north. Once we found the right patch of trees it was an easy find. Solved this a long time ago. Made a guess as to who this person might be and was not particularly surprised to find I got it right!
TwigNZ and I left work early and headed up the Wairarapa to attend a multi-event camping weekend in Pahiatua. I love these camping weekends. They are usually very well attended (this one had about 30 people), usually have some of my favourite people (this one did), and you can make it as relaxed or as insane as you want. Had a blast, got a little sunburnt.

Day 1 Cache 1 of my mad mission to the Wairarapa for the 100-10-7 Challenge. Pre solved this was ready to go. Wet and rainy day today but cachers must carry on. Sheltered at GZ. TFTC.
Super to sign off another long solved puzzle while on a wee roadie in the Wairarapa. Lovely place to wonder thankyou.
We are staying around the lower North Island for a few days and visiting the sights here and this day we went into Featherston a village well known to us .
I had solved this puzzle quite a while ago so now was the opportunity to locate the final which once i paid attention to the hint on the geochecker it was alot more straight forward , although i find this type of cache the hardest to locate but as luck would have it i i saw it fairly quickly and it was soon signed and replaced . all was well with this cache thank you and worth a fav point from me

We are on a road trip to complete all the PWGT2 caches (Lower North Island). We have now completed the Wairarapa geotour caches, and this morning are heading for the Kapiti Coast. But before we leave we have 2 puzzle caches in Featherston to find. This was another puzzle solved in September last year during the Auckland lockdown, when we had plenty of time on our hands. We were able to find all the answers to the questions with a bit of googling. And today we made a quick find in a pleasant place that we have visited before on previous trips to Featherston. TFTC
Should have read the logs so I would have known the coordinates were 12 metres or so out.
However I did search fairly widely but couldn't reconcile anything with the hint.

Another fun puzzle cache to find in featherston. Took a bit to find but then the hint made sense. Good camouflage- not likely to be seen by a muggle. TFTC and the puzzle
Found it only birthday, dragged the family out as we passed through Featherston. enjoyed the puzzle, and great hint, thank you.
had solved this one several months ago with the goal we will be here on day.
than along came the PWGT series and just happen to be close by.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Easter weekend is upon us. We’ve been looking forward to this holiday - it’s a chance to take a big swipe at the PWGT2 caches. We’re also keen to pick off some interesting hides and avenge one or two previous DNFs...
Gap solved this puzzle ages ago, and it was our last find in Featherston for this visit. We spent ages trying to align the hints with the actual landscape. In the finish, we found the cache because we’d exhausted most of the possibilities - a tricky hide. Thanks J ‘N’ K. TFTP and TFTC.

Out for a drive around the Wairarapa for the day to visit a few people and collect a few caches. This was one of the caches. Having solved the puzzle some time ago today was just about signing the log. Hide was tricky to spot but got there eventually. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ en route from Lower Hutt to Palmerston North.
An interesting puzzle subject and learnt lots while solving. I had noted from previous logs that the co-ords were a little out, but with the hint, the cache was a quick find. Been here before for a cache, but happy to return. That's Featherston cached out again . TFTC.

#19456. Having finished the ad lab we returned to Featherston to drop off my sister-in-law, and then went to look for this cache (puzzles were the main focus of today's caching). TFTC.
Days caching out with WIBBC (Wandering Dragons, Barefoot Guru, InfoFerret and brucewwnz).
Solved this puzzle a long time ago, and decided to pop past on the way home. Cache was a little outside of where we expected it to be.. Thanks for the cache and puzzle ..

Cache # 5,029 - - A big day out in the Wairarapa today with Infoferret, Barefoot Guru, Crystal Fairy and Brucewwnz. Thanks for the cache! TNLNSL as WIBBC. I had been wanting to clear this since I solved it a long time ago and then subsequently had a DNF. Back today, and coordinates I have are a good 11 metres out from where we found the cache - and some of the others in the group who had previously found this mentioned something similar, so make sure you use the clue provided (which I didn't the first time around). Thanks again!
Bubble13 has been wanting to stay in the refurbished steampunk style Royal Hotel for a few years so finally we did. It has been pared back recently but still great decor and the food was amazing. We had a great time. This morning we are wandering round and exploring Featherston. We have both been here often for work and it is great to see the progress in uplifting the town. I solved this at home in preparation for our visit and learned a lot in the process. We both remembered being here in the past for a cache too. TFTC # 16,609
Thank goodness for the hint, my GPS had it 10 metres away. What a nice little park, first time Talla64 and I have been here and wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for caching. Thanks for the interesting puzzle and the cache.
On a road trip from Wellington we stopped off in Featherston. Had solved this sometime ago so were keen to collect while in the area. Thanks to the hint it didn’t take us long to find this well canoed cache which blends in well with its surroundings.
I spent a little while searching before reading the hint. I quickly spotted an area that fitted the clue about 12 mts away and it was an instant find after that.
Thanks for setting this up and highlighting this interesting person from history.

Lovely little park, that I didn't know about. Not sure if we would have found without the hint.
#8597. I decided to take a day of leave and turn Labour weekend into a 4-day weekend. I wanted to explore the southern end of the Wairarapa and mop up a few caches overlooked in the past plus check out several archived caches to see if they were still in situ. Ended up being a day with lots of driving, plenty of bird-watching but not many caches located. Still it was a fun day out and always enjoy the chance to spend time in the Wairarapa.
This was my first stop today. Been here before and been unsuccessful. This time I wandered around to see if there was another spot matching the hint. If its there I couldn't find it. So back to the same spot looked at previously. This time however my eyes just looked directly at the cache and it was found within 10 seconds. Hard to credit how you can spend so much time looking one day and not see it. Next visit its staring you in the face. Anyway signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Great to convert this one to a smiley. Enjoyed the fun puzzle. Thanks J'N'K for the cache.

Missed this last time we were in the area but ticked it off today. Thankfully little blue hen has sharper eyesight than me. Favourite added for the history. Tftcsl
Heading home from Wellington and time to collect some smileys. Quick stop here. Nice hide. Thanks.
Decided to head over the hill to the Wairarapa today for a spot of caching. I solved this enjoyable puzzle over breakfast, and this was my first stop off. Never been to this location before. I spied the appropriate hint objects and set to work. These caches are always impossible to spot...until you see them! TFTC
Nice find with woolwood9 on a quick trip away finding some geocaches.
No problem with the find here - hint made for easy spotting of correct location, bit of looking soon found the container.

Came here yesterday after trying to find it by using my gps and I left with nothing. Was determined to come back again today to find it and after rereading the clues and walking about 15m away from GZ I found what I was looking for! TFTC
Hoped this would be my first find of the day but was not to be. The coordinates took me to a place on the path that did not match with the hint. But found a spot about 10-15 m away that looked promising and searched there for 10 minutes without any luck. On reading the logs once home it seems there might be a couple of places matching the hint so will need to search out that second option next time I am in Featherston.
For some time now Mrs G had a set of solved puzzles ready to go find, mostly around Lake Wairarapa, and of course there would be a few others to collect en route to that area. Finally we got to go, taking a couple of days with an overnight stay in Greytown, so as to make the trip a bit leisurely and have time to enjoy the views as we travelled.
Today was Day 1 and we decided to drive straight to Featherston before beginning any caching so as to keep our focus on the lake area first.
This was our first cache of the trip. Mrs G particularly likes the history series type of caches where you learn all sorts of interesting facts about earlier New Zealanders. The titles of this series are intriguing too and appreciated.
The cache was quite a quick find this morning once we ignored the coordinates (which seemed to be about 11m out) and used the hint instead. That was very helpful. TFTC

Shame. Solved the puzzle last night, got the hint, went to GZ. Zilch. I know hanging in a tree is tricky.....
28 September 2019 09:25. First find of today's trip to Masterton. Took me a while to spot the tricky little blighter.... Tftc
Today was a numbers run over to the Wairarapa to mainly boost my finds for May, as they've been sorely lacking. I had a couple of missions I wanted to achieve - finding the remaining 250 finds in a month caches (even the ones I haven't yet qualified for), and to attempt to get Skindo's 1000th. I also wanted to visit some locations in the Wairarapa that I've never been to before (even before geocaching). In 12 hours I managed to find 53 caches, including 25 traditionals, 24 puzzles and 2 multis. I also signed 5 challenges, pending future qualification.
This was my first stop of the day, in the same location as my first find when I first ventured over the hill several years ago. I wandered over to the GZ and found the area mentioned by the hint. It took a while to locate but I eventually found it. All good here. TFTC

2 out of 2 DNFs for us today on J'N'K caches in the Wairarapa, but this time it was the start of the rain and the previous logs indicating how far out the cache was that drove us back to the car without a smilie. Will be back sometime.
We were staying in Upper Hutt for the week over Easter break and today we were heading out to Hinakura to start a Skindo numbers run. As we were trying to get 10 consecutive days of puzzle caches for a challenge and most of our caches today would be trads we wanted to get our puzzle done early. The GPS was jumpy in here and the hint seemed to match a few places but it wasnt long until Mum spied the cache. We had 13m at our GZ. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.
Passing on the way home from Masterson I thought I'd try my luck here again. GPS still took me to the same spot but I approached from a different direction and spotted the hint location, 10m from GZ and masked by a hedge.
It took me a few minutes but my patience was rewarded by a find.

What a fascinating life! I thoroughly enjoyed researching this person. Not too hard to pin him down, given this info.
Barefootguru and I swung by GZ on our way up north. The coords sent us one way but the hint suggested somewhere else. We went with the hint and found the cache very quickly.

Sitting over a light lunch in Featherston I spotted this new-ish puzzle. A quick search on the internet (and then another quick search because the first result missed a key fact) and I was on my way.
I've been to this location before, searching for a different cache that's now been archived. My GPS seemed confident and took me to a spot, but I couldn't match the hint to what I found there, or to anything nearby.
Everything was dripping after a passing shower so I didn't search as thoroughly as I might, but I had no luck today.

Had a quick look on the way back from a work planning day, but no joy. Will return.
Thanks to the hint this was a quick find, otherwise we might have been here a while as the GPS wouldn't get us any closer than 25mtrs.

(# 4905). Took today off work to do a little caching over the big hill. What a warm (or should I say hot) day. Masterton 35 C and Carterton 36 C. Quickly solved the puzzle and thanks to the hint it was a quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
This was another interesting puzzle to solve. One of the nouns seemed particularly intriguing so I put a little more effort in to find out more about that. I almost left this for another day as I had run down the batteries on both my GPSr and phone. Better alternatives were later thought of, but I used my in-car GPSr to get me to the general location. From there, I walked around for a while before I noticed something that fitted with the hint (but not until I went past for the third time). Even then, it took me a few minutes to track down the container that didn't seem to want to be found.
#10,611. Enjoyed solving this informative puzzle based on Ludlam Street in Featherston. Final GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after some searching and widening the area. The GPS was reading 9 metres when it settled. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Found today with DaVinciHunter en route to Wellington. Solved it on the go thanks to smart phones and google. Quick find at GZ even with coords a bit out. TFTC.
First find of the day on a trip to the Wairarapa from home in Wellington. No problems with the questions, an insteresting bit of history. Coordinates that were about 12 metres out had me searching in the wrong places for a bit, but once I managed to identify the items described in the hint then the cache was a fairly quick find. Signed log, thanks for the cache!
Saw his puzzle cache when it was published but I was in the Manawatu so there was no way I was going to even get a chance to go for the FTF on this cache, congratulations to boxhill, managed to sit down when I got home the other night and it really didnt take too long to solve this puzzle, google is definitely my friend when it comes to solving puzzles like this. Decided that once I had it solved that I would put it into my list of solved puzzles and go and check on it once I was in the area.
Decided that I would hop into the car and do a small dash back over the hill to catch up with another intrepid cacher and get this cache for the day, as I was leaving home I decided that I would give agcnz a phone call to see what he was doing and he advised me that he was on his way to the Wairarapa to pick up a few of the new caches. I decided to meet him at the final waypoint for this cache and see who could find it first.
Arriving near the final GZ I was able to find a safe parking spot not too far from where agcnz parked, well actually just behind his vehicle, and from there it was a simple and easy walk over to GZ, The walk over to GZ was quite pleasant and I was soon there, I was soon at GZ and low and behold who should be there with he cache in hand, well that was great timing as it saved me having to search for it, but I had to put up with the grumbling's that the cache was a few metres out and it made it a bit longer to find, mutter mutter[:X][xx(]. Oh my heart really bleeds[:o)]
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks J 'N' K for placing this puzzle cache series here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (1424). Glad to finally knock another puzzle cache off my list of unfound solved puzzles caches.
Thank you so much for another history lesson, two in one day, who would have wonder that this was possible, always love your puzzles caches, there is so much history to learn about our country and I think that I only really know a small fraction of what is really out there. Time to head back home to do some chores and leave agcnz to his mutterings.

Happy Days FTF @ 10:20. My first reference source gave me a couple of bum answers. The second one I used soon corrected the two I had wrong. Then it was a dash over the hill from the Old C.I.T in Threntham to Look for it. A reasonably quick find once there and a pristine log to sign. This one was all I had time to do today. Cheers and TFTC
