Owner maint - this cache needs replacing - until I can get to it, I'll archive it to save anyone the frustration. Should get to it by 13 Nov 2022
Also a dnf for us. We had a Good search - not many things matched the clue and we searched those. Barky neighbours dog made us retreat
I'm on a geocaching roadie from Whangarei to Dunedin. I've had lots of puzzles solved for such a long time so geoarts were the main target of the trip.
Now it's time to start writing the massive backlog of logs which is taking a while.
In Palmy area I wanted the shield series and the 20/20 geoart. Then Wairarapa was stickman (which we ran out of time for), the new M geoart and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington was finishing off the kiwi geoart. Nelson I had a few challenges I wanted before heading to Christchurch. It was family time there and perhaps the smile series but time ran out again. Off to Dunedin for the airplane geoart. Then it was time to fly home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.
My friend Supernanny came along on the trip but today she spent with family. I teamed up with 0B80B8 - a fellow team G0LD mate from Whangarei.
This puzzle series I started years ago. Some I solved in September 2015. I collected some at the Wellington Mega in 2018 but time was against me as well as roadworks on Gray's Rd. I had to resolve some as the puzzles as hides had changed since I started solving them. A bit disappointing not to find this cache as I'll only be missing this one in the series now. We gave it a jolly good hunt but the clue was too vague for us. Thanks for keeping the Geoart going

Was down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but the following days were quite nice, so managed to get in a little caching.
The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target today. As luck would have it, fellow Team G0LD member Lis was driving through Porirua today, on her way to the South Island and she still had a few Kiwis left to find, so we teamed up for a few hours, to see if we could knock the series off.
Our second DNF so far today. Hint was a bit too cryptic for us and despite dodging pooch walking muggles and searching for 10 minutes or more, we couldn't identify the 3rd ??? or find a cache. Thx anyway.

Today we begin our journey home. Rather than getting straight on to SH1 we travelled a bit further into Pauatahanui to collect this replacement piece of the Kiwi geoart.
We are familiar with the subject of the puzzle and had fun solving it last year.
We made our way to GZ and tried a couple of places before zeroing in on exactly where the cache would be. TFTC

KTG and I are back on the Kiwi GeoTrail. This weekend. Tick off another few as we go along. TFTC
After initially ruling this spot out as too far away from the GPS coords, and I spend a fair bit of time finding other 3s before turning back to this just before giving up. A good reminder the often the simple answer is the right one. TFTC. KTG
Today StreetWalkerNZ and I are travelling from Lower Hutt to Foxton Beach, via the scenic caching route, of course. Our main objectives are solved puzzles, with a few ad labs, virtuals etc thrown in.
We had an unscheduled blat on the new motorway when we attempted to drive to Whitby via the old motorway from Kenepuru . Anyway, we enjoyed the trip and SW quickly re-planned the order of caching while we zoomed along. So instead of being one of the last caches to find in Whitby, this was the first.
Cache was quickly spotted - I saw a flash of blue. so have tucked it away it a bit better.
We had completed the Kiwi Geotrail several years ago when we were living in Petone, but happy to find a few more today. TFTC.

#20911. After getting blasted by the northerly in Newlands, caching in Whitby was much more pleasant. This was our first Whitby find of the day (following some hasty re-planning after an unplanned trip on a new bit of SH1). A short walk in a pleasant area and a quick find. TFTC.
Spent 5 minutes eliminating options for initial reading of hint, then found cache after thinking of other interpretations. TFTC.
It is amazing what a bit of caching experience does to improve puzzle solving. All safe and dry here. TFTC
Out for another day of my new found hobby and keen to target the kiwi Geo Art. Easy access to GZ but hint did have me standing around counting a bit before i worked it out. Only 1 muggle during the search so that was good, as i was getting less subtle in my searching All good here. TFTC.
I'm ticking this series off in dribs and drabs - this is my tenth Kiwi GeoTrail visit which allowed me to grab another five caches, and I am now two thirds of the way through the series. I'm a little concerned a couple of the series have been archived since my Kiwi GeoTrail trip so I hope I get to complete it before we lose too many more.
Took a while to find this. I was pretty sure I understood what the hint was but initially I didn't find anything. I even got muggled - luckily I wasn't on my hands and knees peering under the bridge which would have been difficult to explain, but I was loitering. It didn't bother the muggle though - she just gave me a cheery hello and continued on her way, without a second look.
Eventually I resorted to clearing away tree debris - and eventually I spotted the container tucked away. Cache in excellent condition.
Dropped off a trackable that's been with me for several months. TFTC.

Solved this one probably a few years ago, but just never been out here to find it. Quick and easy find.. Cache still in relatively good condition, after extracting it. Thanks for the cache.
Resolved ages ago, but never made it out this way for one reason or another. Today we were fairly close, so GSEL and I swung by here to sign this one off. TFTC - the Kiwi is complete again.
A quick find but a bit tricky to extract, that might be a good thing to reduce the risk of the cache getting muggled!

Out and about with RedEcho this afternoon solving the Kiwi Geo Trail. Quick finds for the most part and some that had us scratching our heads wondering where it could be. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Out and about with MightyMicra for 3rd afternoon in a row after solving all of the Kiwi Geo Trail puzzles between us. Quick finds for the most part with a very competitive spirit between us; some had us scratching our heads for a while but got all of today's batch of 12 in 3 hours.
This was another teaser for me as it was the only one which had the wrong location on my map. After pondering it for a while I finally noticed one wrong digit in the GPS, enough to have me 20 metres from correct location. TFTC.

I need to recheck my answer for this because it did sort of match the hint but I was almost in someone's back yard
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 26 of 55 caches today.
As I had never read footrot flats i didn't know where to go with the puzzle till I got a helping hint.
Once at GZ it was an easy find once at the correct 3rd. Tftc

Took a long walk from home this afternoon with two cachers in training (rubydoos and emzo) to find this one. Nice path I've never been down, and a great hiding spot. Tftc!
Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).
I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.
#38 of 70 today. Surprised the logbook was so dry as the bag it was in only had 2 sealed edges.

I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.
In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.
After the last few finds of this series, where getting there was the challenge, this one was the opposite. Parking up near to GZ, a quick walk took us to where the we knew the hide to be, but where exactly? The Hint was cryptic, but in the end fairly obvious. So we recovered the cache, and discovered inside another of those useless plastic bags with the holes. So we replaced the baggie after the log was signed, and then put it all back ready for the next finder.
Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

# 1573 Team GST has assembled again (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), for another caching mission. Mission for today was to finally finish the Porirua Kiwi, something I had solved about 5 years ago and have slowly worked towards finishing. Today would bring an end to that work. All up I found 28 caches today, and only 1 DNF, so unfortunately the kiwi is still unfinished but a sight closer than it was. We did the loop clockwise, and I feared for my life with some of the parking places and road crossings but all and all, it is well achievable to visit all 61 kiwis in the space of 7 or so hours. Thanks to the creators and maintainers of this series, it is a fantastic piece of geoart that still brings people to the region!
Pretty sure I found the ancestor of this one but anyway, this was a blue circle on my map so required a resolve... which required rememmber how to solve it! All good, at GZ i thought i knew what the hint meant, and took a look at one side of the feature, and disregarded the other as being too low for a hide.. i should have persevered... TwigNZ claimed the find here and replaced the bag... with an actual bag... ie... one that has sides that seal! Cheers team.

It seems a bit strange finding substitute caches but at least the new ones in this series seem designed to last longer than some of the originals. Despite quickly solving all these puzzle types the first time round, I couldn't remember all the detail needed so I had to carry out some re-research. Once I arrived at ground zero, I had to scratch my head a bit as to how the hint might help. However, I found the coordinates to be spot on and I soon spotted the treasure in a site that ... matched the hint. The container size is certainly bigger than I was led to believe it would be.
Beautiful autumn day for a walk, puzzle solved quickly and cache was in the first place I looked which was a surprise! TFTC
We were staying in Upper Hutt for the week over Easter break and hoped today was finally the day we finished off the Kiwi Geo Trail. Our first go was in Oct 2013 and we did roughly 1/3, we did some more in Oct 2016 and finally wanted to finish it today. We misinterpreted the hint but saw a glimpse of colour which lead us to the correct interpretation. Thanks to both the original owner and now the adoptive owner for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy.
Out and about grabbing a few of the Kiwi. Around in circles a little before zeroing in. Thanks for the cache.
I completely misinterpreted the hint and strode off to a totally empty fence post. Fortunately I spotted the cache while returning to the path. Another successful kiwi repair

Mrs S had an appointment in Whitby so while she went and did her thing I wandered on down here. The GPS wasn't showing anything [?], seems I hadn't uploaded a more up to date GPX file. Out with the phone and off I stroll. Getting to GZ the hint puzzled me so I looked about with it in mind. Nothing popping until I spied a corner of the cache container poking through some camo. Ok well the hint certainly makes sense now!!
One left to re-complete the Kiwi, I wonder if I have time to nip over to the location before I have to be back to collect Mrs S?
Thanks for the cache.

#10,667. Enjoyed solving this puzzle that is based in the Porirua Harbour (Pauatahanui Arm) in Mana, Porirua. Final GZ was all quiet when we visited. Relatively quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

I couldn't find my old workings for the F F themed caches in this series but it didn't take too long to workout where I needed to look. Stopped off while in the neighbourhood to make a QEF this afternoon. TFTC
#6573. I noticed the Porirua kiwi had some different colours back in it again. So decided it was time to turn it back into a yellow shape. Solved the three new puzzles. I could remember the method I used last time I did similar puzzles so didn't take too long to locate the right references and get some new numbers. All checked out OK. Then it was a case of driving to Porirua and picking them up. Walked down the path to the GZ. A scan around and there were several ways you could interpret the hint. The obvious way and the less obvious ways. Don't make it too easy on yourself. Check out the less obvious places first and if in doubt look in the obvious spot last. Which I preceded to do until a neighbours dog started barking. Then a quick find at the obvious spot. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks aros71 for the puzzle and the cache. A nosey neighbour started to look over the fence so time to head on down the path.
Out turning a few of the Kiwi GeoTrail caches back into smileys again. I'm pleased to say this one was a quick find - not like the one I had attempted a little earlier in the day! All was quiet at GZ and the cache was in good condition. Dropped off a TB. Thanks for the cache.
**taybee** is caching again with THE OLD MAN
had to use the hint here today and the GPS was out by 8 meters on this one today read the read the hint wrong fist time round

Kiwi GeoTrail Toru Tekau ma Rua (32) (Porirua) was transferred from WhitbyTui to user aros71
Called here this morning on the way for a coffee at Pauatahanui after having solved the puzzle a week ago. A quick find - signed log, TFTC!
Cache # 4,702 - A quick solve about a week back, and today I was restricted to the Porirua area all day, so decided that this one would be my cache of the day. Very quick find at the GZ, where all was quiet. Lovely to have the Kiwi maintained, and this is an excellent addition to the whole series. TNLNSL. TFTC!

I obviously missed this one when it was published and only noticed it today when I was solving the two new ones just published. Hmm.. a bit of memory loss on how the earlier one that this one replaces was solved and I was surprised to find myself spending a bit of time getting this one sorted. But finally got it, and of course so easy when you know how LOL. Pleased to be able to include it on today's visit to the area.
Not the most obvious of finds and I think the hint was more confusing than helpful for me, it all depends on what you are thinking and how you interpret it I guess. But found it eventually and the hint all fell into place at that point.
And my Kiwi Geotrail is once more all complete, many thanks to WhitbyTui for the replacements.

After the unfortunate partial destruction of the kiwi I was pleased to see WhitbyTui taking the initiative to begin some repairs. So this meant my once yellow kiwi had a minor rash of blue. I remember this theme of puzzles from the original caches so it wasn't long before I had some coords. The location took me by surprise but it was a highly plausible location.I haven't been to GZ since before I started geocaching and was a pleasant place to revisit. (unlike many "classic" kiwi cache locactions!)
When I arrived I was going by the coords and cache size alone and couldn't think where it could be. I looked at the hint and had a comprehension failure. Then I re-read the description which suggested a small cache rather than a micro - and a particular type of small cache which which gave me an idea about where one might hide these things, Then when I found the cache in that place I realized what the hint meant! Well, at least it made sure I returned it to the exact right spot.
It was good to revisit the kiwi trail again after having it completed it a while ago. TFTC!

Saw this puzzle cache when it was published but I decided that I would leave it as it was just at the end of a long weekend and I was not in the mood to rush out of the door and go and chase another FTF for the month as I had already had a few this month and decided to leave it for another cacher.
Managed to sit down last night and have a quick look at this cache and since I had solved similar caches to this one and since I have saved my workings in my database it was a very easy solve and once I solved it I put it into my list of solved caches and from there it was just a matter of making my way to GZ and pick up the cache.
Decided that since I was in the area today, I might as well go and check out this cache, arriving near GZ, I managed to find a safe parking spot that was not too far from GZ and then it was just a matter of making my way to GZ. As I got out of the car, I started making my way to GZ, I thought to myself this area has changed quite a bit since I was here last and it wasnt as what I remember, but it has being a while since I was here last.
The walk to GZ was very pleasant and once at GZ, I wasnt still sure what the hint meant, so I decided to trust my GPSr and it took me all over the place until I stood still and let it settle down and once I did this it was just a matter of going and finding the cache.
The search took me a bit longer than it should have as I started wondering around a bit, so I decided to back track a bit and soon realised what I had done and soon spotted something that required a closer look and I soon spotted the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks to Aros71 & WhitbyTui for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (14128). Glad to get this cache off my list of unfound caches.
Now it is time to continue on to my next appointment which wasnt too far away..

(# 4886). No chance for a FTF last night and waited until I got home from work in order to solve this one. Quickly knew what was required and soon had the final coords. Off I went and a quick find followed. Everything in order. TFTP
Darn, darn, darn - missed out on a possible joint FTF by five minutes - about the time I was held up by the roadworks at Pauatahanui roundabout.
The Kiwi GeoTrail that keeps on giving . I saw the email almost immediately and set to work on solving it, trying to remember how to do it from previous puzzles. Soon got some coordinates that looked good and headed out. As I pulled into the final stretch I noticed a vehicle leaving with a personalised plate that matched with another local cacher and I was certain I was too late.
Got to the GZ and started looking around, not quite sure what to make of the hint. It certainly was trickier to do with torchlight. Eventually I realised what the hint referred to and soon had the cache in hand, and my suspicions were confirmed and I'll have to settle for STF. TFTC

[FTF] @ 22:30. Saw this new/replacement Kiwi cache appear and with nothing better to do on a calm full moon Monday night, I quickly calculated the coords and headed out to claim the prize. TFTC.
