What a cool place and the tide was low enough to walk out. A nice quick find. TFTC
We are staying at a campside nearby and found this wonderful little bay to go for a swim. When we approached, we saw there was even a cache on the island. But the tide was high. Well, take it or leave it, then we'll habe to reach it through the water. Quite cold and with some sharp rocks, but that was not going to stop us. Eventually with more walking then swimming we reached the island. Interesting remains here. The cache was quickly found but no pen obviously. As proof of logging I left a little piece of nature wrapped in the cache. On the way back some of us got quite cold. But the adventure was worth it! Thanks for placing, tftc & favo!
On my way to whangarei from Tutakaka, finding a couple if caches along the way.
Knew low tide was early so had to stop here for the walk to the island. Discovered the best approach was from the left as I started to sink into the soft ground to the right, and the mangroves closed in stopping my way.
Well what a surprise to find this was once someone's home. Loved the adventure had a look around and found the old loo, and the cache.
Thanks for the hide and the explore of this special place

Mrs B and Tinytree were off to the Poor Knights for a snorkeling trip and I offered to act as chauffeur for the day with a little bit of geocaching in-between to fill in the time. Had looked at this cache on a previous trip where we stayed in the area but didn't have enough time to grab it on that trip.
Not too sure what to expect here, tide was out but parts looked a little muddy but after a quick walk through a small stream found the rest of the way to be mostly sandy. Interesting place to visit and shame there is no history on it, I wonder who and when someone had inspiration to build this here? Doesn't look like it would have even been privately owned land but guess it must have been? Interesting placement for a cache, took a couple of looks before I found it. TFTC.

The tide was right....so I wandered out here to get some relief!
Only barely ankle deep!
Very interesting place. Spoke to a local who said it is privately owned .
The main small house has been decorated with drawings..looks like a party house!
The outhouse is not now used as such....I hope not anyway as I was grovelling in there with bare hands!
Good place for a cache!
Snells Point nearby is pretty cool too.
Cheers for bringing me somewhere so different!

Always wanted to walk out here. So as passing and yahoo tide dead low .... why not . Thx for such a lovely adventure and smile
Stopped off on our 12km kayak trip today.Would be a nice view when sitting on that throne.
We are parked for the night close by so had to go for a wander. Very interesting remnants here. Lucky for us it was low tide. The oysters looked delicious. Thanks for bringing us here Nicholson family
What great spot..feels like I have gone back in time...very pleased There was no need to flush many thanks great cache
Love the adventure to find this cache. The spot is amazing and will become a new picnic spot in Summertime. Kids loved the mud walk and knee deep water up to the Island. A really cool spot to hide and find the cache.
Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!
TFTC
*Great fun, not quite the right time so involved getting pretty wet with a bit less water on the way back, so just some wading. Bit of searching to get the cache found.*

After a nice chip supper up the road a bit we headed over to here as it was low tide. Soon traversed the firm ground, and bare footed my way to GZ. Took a while to get the hint and my name was in the log and replaced as found. Good fun here, T F T C Nicholson_Family.
The only Traditional cache we found on our riverside walk this arvo and an impressive piece of art here. Soon had the cache in hand but no room to sign so added an X where the green writing was. T F T C SaltyCacheNutZ.
Day 3 was another day to fill with the grandkids and Ed so we did some stuff back at the lodgings before heading into town for him to complete some paperwork and admin. Only a modest 5 caches today, but a great walk along the riverside to start to gather the details for the Virtual.
Me and mrs capperz are up in Northland visiting our son, his partner and their four kiddies under 3 years old! Should be fun catching up and seeing how they've come on sice we last saw them 5 months ago in Australia. We headed up via re-locatable car from Wellington to Auckland Airport, via Whanganui overnight at daughter's, then swapped into our own hire car from Saturday until we head back to Marlbro next Wednesday evening. Not too many caching targets, but a few possibilities and hope to get the Virtuals as we pass them.

I'm up North for a few days, visiting family in Ngunguru and decided to take a walk out to Kuihi Island to look for this cache. I actually came here yesterday too, but there was a school group in the reserve, so I returned at low tide today instead. I wasn't sure how muddy the walk would be, but the ground was fairly firm and I made it over to the island in no time. Had a bit of an explore of the ruins here, before taking a look for the cache - which was found after a short search. A very cool place to visit, thanks for hiding a cache here. TFTF - fav point added!
Crack up title. Hunted this in the nick of time before shorts got wet. Thanks
I headed out to Nganguru today for Whangarei's monthly clean up. I had lots of caches in this area that I hadn't got last time I was down. I had a great day with lovely bush walks, beautiful sea views, and fun scrambling around the rocks. I was pleased to finally be in the area to find my knitting puzzle that I'd solved years ago too. Nice to catch up with the Whangarei geocachers at the nearby cito as well. With the tide still being low Nick, Karen and I quickly dashed off to get this after the cito. I do like these tidal islands. Neat title and hint for the cache. I was pretty tired at the end of the day with 17 caches found. Thanks for the cache to encourage me out this way
After the CITO it was low tide so three of us ventured over to retrieve this cache. Cool little island, some interesting buildings and things left my human visitors.

A quick run across the low tide zone in our clean up gear and a quick grab before dashing to the dump with over 300KG of trash.
What a great spot for a cache. Got the tides right after work and wander over to the Island. Tricky hide, but soon had the cache in hand. TFTF. It would be interesting to know the history of the buildings.
Easy find and so close to home but needed 2 visits one to find and next to sign. We live in the greatest area with all this beautiful water at our doorstep. TFTC
Saw this pop up the other day, but was unable to dash out & get it.... But today had 3 hours respite, which happened to coincide around high tide, so decided to make getting this cache an extra fun challenge. Started at Ngunguru School & swam across to the sansdpit while the tide was still moving in. Running along the sansdpit proved extra challenging as I hadn't figured in the soft sand at high tide. I had to dump the app off my phone some time ago, plus I have misplaced my waterproof phone box, and the Oregon batteries were redlining, but managed to plug the coords in manually as a waypoint , and
fired it up to get a bearing for swim #2 & the tide was nearly slack for the swim back across the estuary to Kuhi Island. Nice easy landing, avoiding the oysters on a very full tide. Wished I had jotted down the hint & spent far too long, but eventually found the sneaky hide. Just as well, meanwhile the tide had turned, so had a fantastic swim back to the school with the rushing tide assist. Thanks for the cache & excuse for my adventure!

Had an unexpected invite to dinner tonight, from a niece who was up on holiday from the Waikato and staying out at Wellington's Bay, which I readily accepted. A quick check of the cache page showed no found logs yet on this cache, so a plan was made to leave a few minutes early and have a look on the way past.
Luckily the tides were reasonable for this evening and I managed to get out to the island with dry feet. Who knew this little island was even here..?? I have been through Ngunguru a zillion times and found other nearby caches, but never really noticed it. Some quite interesting ruins and probable history here.
Once at GZ, the hint made sense, but it still took a couple of minutes before the cache was located. And yes, the log was still blank after almost two days, so this becomes FTF number 88 for me at 5:30 this evening.
Thx for placing this new cache and taking me somewhere I have never been before.
