Amazing cash, really well made.We tried with the dummy cash for a while but managed to find it a lot of fun.
This cache has defeated me for years, mostly due to it being a high muggle place. A couple of months ago my caching buddy Larphs and I spent quite a while searching for this. When we finally found it, it was so wedged in we couldnt move it and started doubting ourselves. Then I noticed that thered been a couple of recent finders, who must have loosened things up a bit - thanks Bapboy1996. When my son suggested meeting around here for dinner, I leapt at the chance for a revisit to my nemesis. It was the perfect quiet evening for it. Everyone else was trick or treating. I marched straight up to the spot and happily extracted the cache, then sat down to solve the puzzle. Like most I found the dummy first but I soon figured out plan b. Ah the delight in finally getting this. Spent a minute admiring its construction before replacing it and heading off to my well deserved dinner. Thanks for the fun G-2.
Man this one confused the hell out of me lol, tried pulling, turning etc but no luck. Hope to come back and be successful another time
This one definetely deserved a FP! So clever G_2! Well done.We had a long look and we had no luck, we looked up and down and pushed and pulled. We regrouped, we climbed up and down and around. But nope it was not happening. Then I just suddenly saw it! Hint is dead accurate. Then the puzzle side folks have mentioned. The family did not know what was expected, but I had a good look and quickly worked it out, miss 6 was so impressed. Great cache! I loved the wee brain excerise. TFTC
I've had this one on my list for a while, and since I was in the area today, I thought I'd have a go at it! I identified the cache quite quickly, but struggled to retrieve it from its hiding spot, as it was firmly wedged in. Eventually, between passing muggles, I was able to get it out, and then the fun began! A great little dummy cache, and a brilliant cache design all around here, which gets an FP from me. TFTC!
Wow what an amazing cache!! Took awhile to find it and then thought we had it but it was the dummy. Eventually figured out how to get the tea log!! Amazing cache and definitely a favourite point. TFTC
Excellent!!! Took me a while to realise what to do and thought I had broken it. But finally figured it out. Tftc.
We found it! Love that it was another puzzle to actually find the REAL log within the cache! To the guy we just met who had failed to find the real cache previously: Dont be deterred by the dummy log. Use the tools provided to find the real cache Thanks so much G2!
What a really cool cache.. lovely day, smart cache, good company and just had a delicious bacon butty. Thanks for putting in the work to make this.
**19,428**As we drew up to GZ we had to wait for a Ranga driver to complete the most ridiculous poorly executed reverse out up the street, which has done nothing to improve our view of Ranga drivers in general we only wished we had had the time to video it for Mr Geckohs boss who is considering buying one (he cant say we havent tried to warn him about what he will turn into). Anyway, back to the cache, once an access point was established it was a short stroll to GZ well that was indeed worth the stroll. What an extremely well-concealed and clever little cache. We can see why it has earned so many favourite points and we are happy to add to the count. TFTC
What an awesome cache. Really appreciate the amount of effort put into this one . That's another favourite from us.
1700. Amazing effort - feel sorry for the poor reviewer! This is a very good example of the craft.
After thinking about it last night came back and fount it today! TFTC! It was a really clever one! Log signed.
I enjoyed my time in Hobsonville today. Found a mixture of old ones and new ones. That was pretty cleaver. Fell for the fake news to start with. But after a bit of contemplation I was soon on the right track to signing the log. Worth a F.P TFTC
With rebel98 cycling around Hobsinville point, dodging the rain and finding caches.

How disappointing - no background information about the old wharf. What a waste of a spot! Saw the platform is closed, and had walked past a slip close by, so didn't feel happy searching.
Edit- we didn't see the CO's update from Sunday (were using a GPS with our of date PQ). That would have reassured us that you don't go onto or beside the platform.

Unable to access this one due to the GZ being closed because the ground has slipped away under the platform. It might be closed for quite some time. Will try again if it opens again
This has to be our most favourite find to date. We found the sunny last time we where here but on reflection we thought we would return for a thorough look. Out with family from Norfolk Island.
Out today to go to the Farmer's Market and do a little exercise. I have searched for this one before, and spotted it, but there were too many muggles to make the retrieve.
Today the weather helped greatly and there was no one around to bother me. Upon arriving at GZ I made the retrieve and soon had the cache in hand. I did get sidetracked by the dummy for a bit, but I was soon on the right track. TFTC #1389

I remember searching for this one back in 2020 whilst brand new to the sport and I'm really not surprised I wasn't able to find this! This didn't have so many FP's at the time either, so I didn't know about the clever G-2 ingenuity in this hide, but then again, I don't even think I knew what FP's were
Anyway, I arrived at GZ today with a LOT more caching experience, but it still took me a solid 5 minutes to find the host! I've seen a few of these types of hides before, but this blended in perfectly... However, that was only the start of it :O Fiddled around with a few things before eventually spying something likely... What?! A dummy cache!!! I think I've yet to find a single cache of yours G-2, without finding the dummy first. This didn't fool me for too long though, and I soon had the logbook in hand, ready for my name to be signed in You really never stop impressing me with your hides... I keep saying this one is "the BEST", but then I keep finding better and better ones! TFTC G-2, +FP
Out and about in Hobsonville Point this afternoon trying to clean up some of my last remaining unfound caches in the area I remember caching around here when I was a brand newbie back in 2020, so yes - there were a few DNF's to avenge. I quite like this area and some of the neat parks around here! A nice haul of 7 finds... All in good condition! Thanks CO's for your hides

On a long weekend away .
Spotted a G2 cache out on our drive, and knew we had to find it.
Great hide, dummy had us fooled for a second, but soon came up with the goods.
Thanks for another great cache, in s amazing spot.
Favourite point awarded.
Keep up the great hides.

Jeepers that was a cool cache! It was definitely a team effort. I saw it but didn't investigate, then husband sat and said that he thought I was onto something, 11 year old took it out and opened it up and 9 year old figured out the wee "puzzle" to sign the log. You give us so much joy!! Thank you.
OMG I LOVE THIS CACHE!! We didn't have a pen but took photos of the dummy log and real log. Much fun had while out getting our steps in
Took a whole lotta while to find it. Thanks for the awesome cache. Always an experience with G2.
Day out with TEAM SEAC after too many lockdowns and as an O birthday surprise for GeoHusband when we were thebownehornet. The plan was to bike around and stop for a picnic lunch but what he didn't know was that NZ Iceman was ready to set up at the picnic stop so when we arrived there was cake and decorations etc. After lunch the plan was to continue biking and caching back to the cars. The weather was perfect, the company great...it just felt like such a normal day again after all the lockdowns.Updating my new geo account with unlogged finds as thebrownehornet, with keylev, NZtravellers, HeMaLuDy and etc, collectively TEAM SEAC and finally logging 14 04 2024 as NurseDr.
Out on a ride with my geo caching buddies "Team SEAC". Great day out, enjoyed our ride around the area. Thank you for taking the time hide this cache.
Found whilst out on an adventure with Team SEAC.
Thanks for the fun and the cache.

Planned a biking day out with some of the team SEAC crew to secretly surprise Mr from the BrowneHornet who is celebrating a big birthday today. The plan was to bike around and stop for a picnic lunch but what he didn't know was that NZ Iceman was ready to set up at the picnic stop so when we arrived there was cake and decorations etc. After lunch the plan was to continue biking and caching back to the cars.

With quite a few eyes it didn't take too long to find the cache but then it took a few moments to work out how to get into it. Deserves a fav point!
Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.

Today we were part of a big group of Team SEAC cyclists enjoying the sun and riding around Hobsonville collecting caches. It also happened to be a 50th Birthday for one of our group so we stopped for a picnic lunch and surprise birthday cake for the birthday boy half way through the day. Had a wonderful catch up with good mates we hadn't seen for so long, and despite a couple of DNF's we enjoyed the caching as well. Thanks to all the CO's today. We signed as team SEAC on the logs to save space and time.
Another clever hide, liked this one a lot! TFTC!

After months of lockdown a plan was hatched to gather Team SEAC for a biking caching session around Hobsonville as soon as we were allowed as it had been far too long for a catch up. The weather was playing ball today... although at some points it was too hot! Halfway round we had a picnic in the park to celebrate a birthday for a member of our team. All logs were signed Team SEAC to save space.
This was cache number 20... took a minute to locate but a bit longer to open. The muggles nearby having picnic were probably wondering what we were up to, TFTC!

Very cunning and deserves more than than the one favourite point that can be given. TFTC
Electrifying! We found the old cache but discovered it was broken, so really glad this has been replaced.
Found the log before we found the dummy.
Found the log before we found the dummy.
Found the dummy and found the cache, but even with a handbag full of tools we couldn't get the log. GeohoundandI could see it, but we couldn't get it. So we will be back with a chainsaw and a drill and a possibly an axe and a few big magnets.
So many muggles, so many wasps... couldn't search as hard as I wanted to what with everyone coming here to enjoy the sunny day, and I know it's there somewhere...
An afternoon of caching and lunching with the 3 geokids. This one had us all scrambling around. Glad it was a low muggleage day due to rain showers. Geokid6 found the dummy with geokid12 then discovering the real one and log. Definitely gets a favorite from us. Thanks for the time put into this cache placement, genius. - Tftc!
Out with SandersonHunters enjoying the walk along this path. Great hide. Found the dummy first then the real thing. Took us a few tries but got the log in the end. Enjoyed the challenge with this one. Will add a favourite when we have one to give. Thanks G-2.
Caught ferry to Hobby and was after a couple of trads and a Lab cache we hadn't got yet. Jumped off the ferry and had the place to ourselves for a smidgen of time and someone else rocks up. Had a gentle look around then heard ...'whats the clue' not from geowife. Nice to meet you parklh up from Wellington. Hope u enjoy yr stay. Geo kids from other team -Lower Hutt based assisted greatly in finding this cache so cheers.
Found and logged and now after the Lab cache and a couple of other trads along the way.
FP to be awarded Glad I have a few FP's left in the 'piggy bank' so to speak.
Cheers Glyn

Nice way to finish our visit to Hobsonville Point. Met some new geo friends there, great teamwork. TFTC
I struck it lucky finding this, won't say how but when I spotted it, I thought I was in for a real mission in solving the riddle, love the work that's gone into this, I did find the paper too! Easy FP from me Glyn. Glad to have you in the caching community, it was because of your caches back in 2014 when I started caching that inspired me to start making my own, thanks for that. 1700 caches eh! I've done 170 lol....
Decided to use the Free Public transit day promotion to get around Auckland a bit. Ended up in Hobsonville, Takapuna and the CBD. Three adventure labs and around 40 caches found!
Not a bad day!
Thanks to all the COs for their placements!
Specifics on this cache:
This is such a super cache! Luckily I had a bit of time before the ferry to sit down. You fooled me, then I got clever!

Das ist ja der Hammer! Never had anything like this before. Tricky, awesome!!! Found the dummy cache, the dummy log and the real log... Wow! Thanks for this amazing cache, FP from me.
Yep, this one got us (Furbies, brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew) well and truly. After spending way too long hunting this little puppy down, my sister-in-law finally spotted the likely culprit. It then tricked us again, and I was even ready to add a "replacement log" before I clicked... Well played Glyn, well played. Thanks for the adventure
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Since Gap had jobs scattered around Auckland, we decided to base ourselves out West. With two Adventure Labs in Hobsonville, it made sense to hang out there for the day... All finds signed as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa).
While returning to the Ad Lab trail, we also stopped to try various traditional caches... The weather seemed set to pack up - As we were on foot. we didn’t want to risk a soaking. This was a tricky hide, and a clever hide. It took a careful search to nail it. (Mr) ABCDF4 came up with the goods. Thanks G-2 and TFTC.

Was up in Ak for the day with ABCDF4, Fap & Gap, and Squirrel Nutcase to tidy a few caches in Hobsonville. Logged in under Tm HRP, to conserve the logs. Thanks to all the Co s for the placements, good day had by all. Neat cache, Neat view.
No real plans for today but over dinner and a couple of drinks last night Hobsonville was the choice. All caches signed Team HRP (Huntly,Rotorua,Papamoa). Great day in a new area. Couple of caches missed but that happens. Will be back another day to complete area.

I was over this way for brunch and had to give this a go. I too was stumped too much by the dummy but eventually the Geo-Brain kicked in and the log was in hand. FP from me. TFTC
Wow - first G-2 find and I am absolutely blown away. This is by the far the cleverest cache I have ever seen! Thank you so much for the cache - definitely warrants a favourite.
Found while completing the local Adventure Lab - found the dummy cache which really threw us off, but we got there.

Fantastic cache! Highly recommend! Went for a stroll with muggle hubby while child free for the afternoon. After a quick assessment, and quick location of dummy cache, found cache and log. Very impressive and clever! Love doing G2 caches - thanks
Hmmm took us ages to find the dummy in the hail and rain. Will have to come back for the real thing as we’re out of ideas.
wasn't me that needed the sledge hammer help, i just tagged along and got another smilie, tftc
I had to get a gentle nudge with a sledge hammer from the CO in order to figure out where this cache was hidden. TFTC.
This was actually my second attempt at this cache.
My first attempt was during a walk with JrGun9 on a pleasant weekend afternoon where we found the dummy cache and then searched and searched (and searched again as we came back past) without joy. I note I didn't post a DNF - probably out of frustration.
A week or so ago I was talking to a previous finder and he gave me a hint that showed my initial failure was probably more due to frustration than anything else.
So today after work (being a dot day) I tried this one again and while some people were being odd in the shrubs near by I quickly made the find (well still not as quick as it should have been).
FP from me for the well made hide.

*Thanks for giving us a reason to visit this area!*

Night time visit, we spent quite a while looking for the cache, ww9 found it just as I was giving up. Really very well done hide for the location.
Thanks G-2

Had briefly tried for this some time ago, but didn’t stand a chance with all the groups of people constantly coming through. Today however I had a group of cachers on hand to shield me from view. Even then it took me a while ... aided by the occasional nudge from Merlot58.
Very cool cache. Definitely a FP

Congratulation on this amazing number of hide, we do enjoy finding them. This one was perfectly hidden and disappeared in the environment. TFTC
Superb work here and a definite f/p. I've looked for this before but due to the people around at the time and my blindness I quickly gave it up. This time no people, but a very tricky hide, all the same. Tftc
Nice wander along the boardwalk. The married officers quaters will look great when they've finished the restoration. Thanks.
Wandered up here from the ferry terminal and had a lovely walk with TF. No one around today and TF scored a quick find, signed and replaced as found. TFTC
Some cyclist's at gz fixing a flat tyre but after a quick conversation we found out that they are aware of geocaching and have participated in the past so no qualms about setting about looking for the cache. Took us a little while to locate this sneaky hide but we got there in the end. No problems from then on finding the correct log. All good. Great location - Fav point from us. Daily cache sorted
I remember caching not too far away from here. Anyway good to see this milestone hide in such a good location to celebrate 1700th hide! I am so close now to be half way of COs hides! Thanks for your efforts!
A second bite at this one and can see why it's so popular. Soon had the cache in hand and the decoy too, The actual hide was soon in hand and all was good. Especially as another FP is heading this way. T F T C G-2
Another day, another set of cache finds. Gotta love the reliability of the hides and the quality too. Just a modest 9 caches this evening, but a real calm, warm evening. Perfect for a stroll around the area.
I'm up in Auckland for the week, with a couple of options for transport and with a healthy choice of 4 evenings plus one late-afternoon at my disposal for caching. Would be remiss of me not to take advantage of what some (km) would call a 'target rich environment'. And so my week was spent well, a count of 75 caches was found, a few DNFs and a plethora of G-2's special cache treats with awesome camo and attachments. Some nice evening weather made things easier, and I averaged a 10km walked each day = nice. Thanks to all COs for their caches, individual logs as/when remembered.

With a day off work ahead of me I decided to spend it caching, at least before rain gets here that is. With some of the side roads opened up around here now I was able to gain access to the trail relatively close to GZ. Which was good since I left my found behind and ended going back to the car go get it. Took a good look before I came up with the goods here; D1.5 is, most likely, a sliver on the low side. Annoyingly, I suspected that it may have been hidden like this, but explored other, incorrect options, before working on this idea. I wasn't puzzle for long by the next step and was soon signing the log. Also, I am just over 1000 finds on G2 caches--I think this is number 1003. Cheers for the cache placement; this lookout is certainly worth a hide!
Made the time to grab this cache while on one of our regular walks around the area. Looked in the wrong place for a bit before figuring it out. Not many muggles around to cause any problems so retrieval wasn't an issue. Cool cache once again, congratulations on so many hides. Thanks for setting up this one!
I've seen similar hides before, so quickly spotted it, did fall for a dummy though, before getting the real thing.
