Thanks OldSaint for hiding this cache. Now that my calendar and streak are completed, I can just cache for the fun of it. Your Traditional cache, A Garland of Roses, was just what I needed to get me out of the house and exercising. This is my find #1820 at 11:52 on 6/7/2024. FTF: Found with: selfWeather: fair Muggles: none Light level: good Cache condition: good Distance from GZ: Your cache was visited by my trackables: TB9QQD2, TB9KZ39 and TB7HH81
Tasmania Trip Day 7. I only stayed in Queenstown overnight, but I got a great feel for the place and would love to spend more time here. My target today was Hobart, but although the total distance did not seem too high, the nature of some of the roads and the lack of towns made for a longer sparser trip than I had expected. There were plenty of great nature spots along the way and when I did at last reach a bigger spot, New Norfolk, I had an enjoyable time exploring the town. I had expected more in Hamilton, but alas did not even get lunch there. After getting into Hobart I checked into my motel in Battery point and headed out on foot. I visited the coastal section of the pint end finished in Salamanca place for dinner and a few virtual caches before heading back up the hill to my accommodation.I was happy to take this short detour to visit the cache with its view of the surrounding area. Thanks for the cache OldSaint45944.13 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2020 NZ Mega A#476**Albida**
Another micro hanger, this seems to be a Tassie favourite hide when so many options for a bigger hide, especially in these rural areas. TFTC
I have recently acquired a squid pole, so Zozetta and I planned on using it today for the SSF series near Gretna. Our plan was to drive up to Gretna and find the caches on the Lyell Highway between New Norfolk and Gretna, then find the caches at Gretna, before moving on to the SSF series. To start off with things went quite well, we had to miss one of the caches we planned to get as there were some muggles nearby, and we couldnt find a way to access one of the ones at Gretna, but we found all the others and then moved on to the SSF. We had found one in that series and were about to find another when Zozetta noticed that the fuel gauge was a bit low so we decided to drive to Hamilton to get petrol as that was the closest petrol station according to Google maps (Google maps was wrong and it was twice the distance to Hamilton than we thought it would be). It turns out that there isnt any petrol at Hamilton, just diesel, so we went to Bushy Park where there was petrol, but then made a wrong turn going back to Gretna and ended up heading towards New Norfolk instead! In the end we made it back to the SSF series and found nine caches in it, part of our fifteen for the day, and two DNFs. We didnt get as many find as we had anticipated, but I enjoyed all the different detours as they took us to some very nice locations that I wouldnt normally have visited. After a few minutes of searching Zozetta made the find. Thanks for the cache OldSaint!
Found in a tree, coordinates accurate! TFTC! Log dry. I love coming up this way, my grandparents used to live in Ellendale so lots of happy memories. Perfect spring day with blue skies.
Thanks for this one.
Handy hint- put paper in lid first then screw on bottom. Look out for the piss ants.

Camped at Gretna , going to tackle the Something smells fishy series. Picked this on up on the way here this morning TFTC have replaced the full log sheet. CO please contact me if you want the old one back.
Camping and caching in the old home town. Its a long time since I've walked the streets of Norfik. Went to New Norfolk Primary School many moons ago, but we won't go there ! Went to the market first thing, 6 caches before lunch, and now on a circuit to Bushy Park, Gretna and Hayes. My aunt and uncle had a farm along the Belmont Rivulet not far from here. Wonder what the purpose of putting this cache here is or was ....... but we'll take it as a find anyway !

Today we decided to head to New Norfolk and surrounds and find a few more caches that we have not found and to make them a smilie. A great day out, not too cold, sun out allowed us to enjoy the great outdoors.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Out for an arvo solo drive, just because.
Turned around at Gretna and now caching my way back.
Great views from here.
Quick find in the 2nd spot I looked.
Log sheet is really damp and wanting to tear, so I just signed just as EPs.
Cheers,

This one was tricky partly because my GPS was bouncing around and partly through really poor looking. When I stopped and thought for a moment, it was pretty clear. Enoyed the view as advertised in the description. TFTC
Thanks for the cache OldSaint.
With COVID19 restrictions being relaxed a bit this week, I was keen to get out for a bit of a drive this weekend. After a Saturday morning family catchup, the GeoGSP and I headed out for a drive this afternoon. This is a top spot and on a cool but sunny winter's afternoon, the view of Gretna was very pretty. A quick find at GZ, all is good with the cache.

Wasn't quite sure what kind of cache we were going to find here but the cache name made more sense when we turned off on to the side road that took us to this one.
We couldn't park safely at GZ and had to go a lot further down the road before we could turn around and park safely on the cache side of the road.
A quick spot was made of the cache and yes, the views were great.
Thanks.

A pretty spot with nice views. It was nice to be back down at a lower elevation as the drive through the lakes was in in thick cloud and very bleak! TFTC OldSaint!

After a busy five days caching, took things a little quieter on our last full day of an impromptu trip to Tasmania. Returned our hire car into the city and grabbed just a couple more smileys as we returned from a thank you lunch with the muggle who’d graciously hosted us and indulged our caching passion for the week.
We’re visiting Tassie and went and had lunch with the ladies at Possums Sheas, driving back home we did a quick stop and picked up this cache.
The day is sure heating up. A quick find was made at GZ. TFTC

We decided to head out to Maydena, National Park and Gretna to find a few caches that had been placed since we were last out here about 18 months ago. It was a cooler day and a bit showery but we set off. Luckily the showers happened while we were driving and while out hunting caches it was dry. Now on the way home, we detoured to grab this cache, and while Mr W turned the car around Mrs W made a quick find. TFTC
On a trip down south over the highlands we called into this one and a quick find was had.
Good to be off the highway and to look out over the vista. The cache took awhile to find and pleased to add our name in the log. Good one OldSaint, thanks.
Stunning views from GZ thanks for bringing me here OS.
I have missed so many logs over the past few months its unreal, so in an attempt to catch up I'm logging a load of them from GSAK.
Sorry CO's it's going to be the same generic log just about for all of them.
thanks for the cache all the same I will have gone out of my way to find it and thus didnt have the time to log it at the time.

I had always planned to return this way to stop for a GCA history cache in Magra. Stunning views from here across lush green paddocks. This time I spotted the cache quickly. We didn't stop for long as we still a bit to get done this afternoon. I love this part of the state, especially the views of the Derwent near here.
Thanks OldSaint

Out and about picking up a few caches that have been published since our last visit in the area! We got this one on our way back!
Thanks for bringing us into this area.

As we headed home today, we detoured up the Derwent valley to look for a couple of caches - this was one of them. Accurate coordinates and an obvious hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. We were surprised at the amount of sap that had oozed from this tree over time. Thanks Oldsaint for the cache.
Lovely little hanger thanks OldSaint and not a Baaad view either both ways. All good at GZ thanks for this recently published cache
Camping at Mt Field National Park Park for the Easter long weekend.

As with so many of your hides, Old Saint, another fantastic view from GZ. We always admire this vista when travelling on the Lyell Highway and also from another direction when coming from Bushy Park. I like your take on the district's name. Thanks for placing a cache here.

Hello OldSaint thank you for the cache.
I had just got home from work and noticed you had hidden a new cache.
I wasn't going to have a go at finding it as it was a big day and I wanted to just sit down and have a rest.
But the First To Find kept nagging at me so I had to go for a drive to find it.
At GZ it didn't take too long before I had the cache in hand and a blank log book to find.
