#270 23/11/2024 @1:18pmAs previous log mentioned, there is construction vehicles blocking some of the area, but the cache is still retrievable, so the log was signed TFTC
TFTC. Took a little while, but loved the container we found. A fun little dig.
This one took way too long to find! Tftc! Technically, you do need to go in the garden. You should probably say that.
Found after some searching & laughs. Signed on International Geocaching day!TFTC!
Silly me thinking it was going to be an easy one. Just before we gave up Beckgiz found it in a likely spot. Thanks for the find
Ha ha. Well done indeed. This one had me ruminating on a few possibilities, despite the clues. Took me 10 to 15 minutes, and I think my job was made a little less easy by the passage of time and possibly by the fact that it was dark.Cache is in great condition, and the waterproof log paper is holding up nicely . A favourite from me, because this is the perfect example of a friendly neighbourhood cache.
TFTC! 11 June 2024 3:44:00PM 8190 thanks to widejo for the cache! In Geelong for sport this weekend, and taking time to enjoy the caching afterwards. Thanks for the xxxhe.
Tricky find today. Took a little while, and some figuring out how to retrieve when we had our suspicions as to where it was located. Thanks for the cache
Went to take the kids to playground only to find it all fenced up. Had a quick look at the app to see if there was any caches nearby and lucky there was.. turned the kids frowns to smiles and even a bigger smile once they found this clever hide. Thanks for placing for us to find.
Having a day here in Geelong and at long last, after a long bit of no sucesses, I'm finding a few. A quick one, thanks.
Rode the bike into town today and need a find calendar loop and this was the one.Arrived roughly where l remembered the coords pointed me. Got off the bike checked and then noticed it open on the ground with log unrolled. Put it back where l believe it belongs as to be honest lm uncertain l would have found it now as its a really good spot.
Needed a little extra hint from a fellow cacher but we found it after a little bit. TFTC

WOW what a good hide! This cache was incredibly difficult but with some help from another friendly geocacher we eventually located it. TFTC!
What a great little hiding spot!
Log was looking a little worse for wear, definitely rained recently and it's seeped in with some dirt. Dried it off the best we could and was going to put it in a zip lock baggy, but it couldn't quite fit..

Found in the expected location after a quick search. Lucky the younger members of Team ExplorerChuck were with me to provide a good reason to be loitering around a playground in the middle of the day. Waterproof log is still holding together and able to be signed despite being quite damp. TFTC.
Mr Riddell was straight onto it… using his satellite map to pinpoint this one… certainly much lower than your ankle, lower than the tan bark!
Luckily it contains a waterproof paper log.
TFTC could have been here all night digging around.
With one successful find today I was hoping to change this one to a smiley! For awhile I decided to channel my inner child by pretending I was a pirate walking the plank. Eventually I found treasure and had the cache in hand! An absolutely brilliant sneaky hide and it doesn’t surprise me that I didn’t see it last time at all. Unfortunate the log is incredibly water damaged and I didn’t have any spare paper so attempted to sign the wet paper with my ink running. Would recommend new log and a waterproof plastic bag.
Have fun finding this one!
Thanks for the cache!

I'm a bit flummoxed. I found this cache a few months ago. I'd had several visits to no avail, then finally found this clever hide. Not too long after, I coached SueHut to a find as well. Yet when I looked today, neither I nor SueHut have a smiley or a log listed.
I'll be blowed when my actual find date was - "sometime in the last 12 months". Today will have to do.
Thanks heaps, Widejo! Take a fave simply for having me keep coming back.

Nice bit of sneaky fun here.
Virtually parked right on GZ.
Had to wait for muggles to run free.
Then came up with the sneaky hide.

Muggles arrived (including one adorable little human hugging a Shaun the Sheep plushie half her size, too cute). Will have to come back another time to be able to have a proper look.

Our first cache outing for 2023 - Oh My are we out of practice! Items forgotten or just left at home!
There was a feeling of familiarity here, we felt it was not our first, or second visit to Sparrow Park.
Thanks to widejo for adding this neat cache to the gameboard.

Looked and looked at GZ with no luck. Wondering if the rain has washed it away but will check again if someone else finds it
Found by Mary and David at at 15:15. Great camo, and facilities for the locals too. Earns a FP. Our thanks to widejo.

Took the boy out for a day time search, but he decided to play with grass instead.
Found with missAshOath, had visited this site many times and had not been able to locate, however this time geo daughter located rather quickly. TFTC
Another spontaneous caching trip and headed here as I had been here before and come up empty handed. So today I was hoping for a better result. Really quickly it revealed itself…. Clever… very clever tftc
Down in Geelong for a very spontaneous caching trip. We left the event and headed over this way to see if we find your cache. Woohoo!! We did! Tftc
Will be out of action very very briefly, for maintenance. Will be back in 20 minutes!
All better. Cache is hopefully more watertight than previously. If cachers could replace the base firmly, that would be appreciated.
This was a fun little find. Parked the car for a bit of camo. Wandered back and forth a bit pondering what type of hide it could be. Poked around a little. Phone gps had me in a location that didn't have the cache. Not the best time to be looking as Autumn leaves are everywhere. Had a look at the photo satellite image and went back to that location. Moved a few things and had a look at a possibility and there it was. Very wet but the paper is holding up and I could make our mark. Tftc.
We were in Geelong this morning to see the mechanic and drop off another car key, and we decided to see if we could find this cache as we were nearby.
The last few times we have been here, the place had been crawling with muggles, and we hadn't even attempted to find the cache as we would have been far too obvious.
There was only one other car parked here this morning and no one to be seen, so we pulled up near GZ and started to search. After around 5 minutes, we read the cache notes and the hint and redirected our efforts to a lower plane.
The one disadvantage of this time of year is plenty of leaves on the ground, and it was only once we had moved some of these around that the great hiding spot was found.
The cache is, as expected, a little damp, but the stone-based paper makes it easy to record your name on the log.
The cache is in excellent condition.
Thank you for this cache widejo.

I returned today to claim the smiley! Got it but still took some time very clever and sneaky hide I am a fan Thanks for hiding this cache for all of the community of caching to enjoy. There were plenty around the playground today so had to be stealthy but the muggles went on blissfully unaware of my finding of the bounty I was in search of.

Logbook found without container... Waiting for CO to do maintenance... FYI...
New log. Cache cap found and replaced.
Please note that the cache must be opened at the **white cap** end.

A few geocachers in geelong will remember this location well, for all the wrong reasons.
It was strange being back here as I don’t think we have been back much since that night.
No trouble locating the cache, however there was no log in the container?
Popped a sheet of paper in there until the CO can get out and have a look. Sadly I didn’t have the required supplies today to assist.

**Found after brunch with friends in nearby 'Pako' Street.**
Made this clever find away from the prying eyes of the nearby muggles. Managed to park the car between the grassed area and GZ where a quick find was made thanks to previous logs. A nice straight forward find here.
Thanks for the cache widejo. A favourite point for something a little different.

Popped by to check this cache today. It was a bit damp so I dried it off. The log is made of water resistant paper so it can be written on even when wet; every Geocaching Log should use 'Tradie' paper, 7 bucks a pad at Officeworks.
Found! But needs maintenance, don't want to give it away, but we believe the recent storms have made it exceptionally hard to find. Furthermore, log is very wet (could do with something watertight, like a ziplock bag) and pen doesn't work anymore.
I'd actually just given up and returned to the car as GeoYeet975 found it. Based on prior logs, im surprised we found it at all!

Made two attempts at this cache with Millysk888. On the first, a muggle was parked just next to GZ, so we gave it a pass and went and had lunch. After lunch, we returned to find GZ to ourselves (aside from a few muggles in the park). We searched for some time, and resorted to the hint and a combination of previous logs to help find the cache at last.
The cache itself is waterlogged, however (recent storms and lots of dirt washed around) the log is okay, just wet. Please bring a new pen, as the small one is out of ink.
Thankyou for this very ingenious cache! Will be on my guard for more like this one

Haven't had to log a Needs Maintenance on a log before, so apologies for logging twice if that is not how this is meant to work. This log is to state we found the cache
Took a PAF to send me in the right direction, even then took a bit. Only discovered as I was about to leave!

For months we tried to get near this one but were kept at bay by a long-term camper right near the area of interest. Today we finally gave it a good go, together with Toy Hunters. The amount of rubbish in this little garden is shocking, we should have brought a skip to remove it all.
We searched and we rummaged, and we had not paid enough attention to the cache notes! Silly people. Anyway, we relented and eventually rang a friend who was able to guide us to making this amazing find. Wow! Thank you widejo, another feather in your cap, and another FP coming your way.

Found with dear friends suss vulture on a lovely caching run this morning. In hindsight it would’ve helped had we read the description first, but it seems all geocachers fall into this poor habit! But anyway we searched around for a long time before resorting to PAF where we were then able to make the find. Cool hide in a lovely suburban park. TFTC!
Took the geo kiddies here and in the end it was Miss 6 who found it
Awesome hide - TFTC!

buhfuhguh and SteMicMitSar very kindly offered to take me around Geelong today with a Community Celebration Event in Ceres being the outing's main attraction.
Despite the event starting at 6pm, I had to wake up at 6am in order for us to fit in all of the adventures that this region had to provide!
An excellent time was had at each and every stop, and meeting other cachers throughout the day as people slowly trickled into the area was a really fun experience too.
This was our final find for the night and, even without any muggles at this hour, it was still shaping up to be a challenge.
We scrutinised every part of gz and expanded our radius a few times.
But a bit of ingenuity on the part of SteMicMitSar meant that he tried something a bit different and - aha! There it is!
Coordinates are absolutely spot on, don't think they could get more precise, but there's certainly a special way of thinking that needs to be applied to come up with the goods.
Thanks to widejo for this creative hide!

Well this one did take a bit of finding, we did have too go far, didn't even have to step on the dirt but where is it, eventually we discovered the answer to that question.
Today I headed out and around to the Geelong region once again with Brainiac03 and buhfuhguh to spend the day in search of caches before heading to Mr. Sim’s 50th birthday celebration event.
Well the event was now finished but before we headed for home we decided that there was still a bit of caching time left in the day so as we headed in the general direction we need to go and found a few more along the way, this being one of them.
**Thanks to widejo for placing this cache.**

I was in Geelong with a fellow cacher. I visited friends for a while, while she went to find this cache. No luck. My friends decided to come with me to see what this geocaching was all about. Well you can guess what happened of course. The muggle found the cache! Whether of not their appetite for caching has been whetted or not I do not know. Time will tell. Thanks for this well hidden cache. It was fun finding it. A favourite because of the fun we had and that a muggle found it.

Out and about in Geelong today collecting some caches before the celebration event being held later tonight. With Stemicmitsar and Brainiac03 we powered through collecting solved puzzles and other caches of interest through the day. Had another great day out chipping away at the Geelong area and can't wait to be brought back down this way shortly. Thanks for the cache and the great day out.

So many attempts at finding this one without success resulted in me using PAF for. Hint. Still no success. My last attempt and in desperation I searched even lower and spotted something.
It was pretty tough to open it so I sat in the car and worked on it.
A devilish hide that I am happy to have turned into a smiling face.
Thanks for the hunt widejo
