I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
The cache is area is overgrown with blackberries, and besides that being barricaded by neighbouring landowners with branches etc. I will try to retrieve it though, and relocate to a spot very close by that will be better accessible. If I can't retrieve it, I may replace it with a new cache, will decide on that later, and if not, I will archive the cache within a couple of weeks.
Found GZ and hint items but do much green waste, animal bones and bramble left me scratched and miffed
No luck for us here today. All around us seemed to be covered with weeds and thistles. Went tramping through a few different areas getting scratched in the process, unfortunately came empty handed.
Enjoyed an afternoon exploring the Pohangina village and surrounding valley. Sadly half way through my pen stopped working hence the photo. Usually carry a spare one in the car but not today. No trouble following the geotrail to find this one. Thanks for the smiley.
with being a long weekend we decided on another trip to the Manawatu.
we based ourselves in Ashurst. with lots of caches around the general area.
main idea was to complete the 20/20 series which we had all the solves for now, plus anything else.
we checked ourselves into local pub, arriving just with enough time to have a couple of beers.
plan today head up thr valley one side back down the other.
caches all in fairly good order.
thanks to the owners for the placements.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Roaming around the wide open spaces of the Manawatu this weekend. We’ve had the caching brakes on for far too long, and it’s a weekend to cut loose.
The recent DNF logs caught our attention. Let’s take a look... Yes, the blackberry has taken hold at ground zone. However, Gap has a tool for these sorts of situations - a machete... It didn’t take long to recover the cache which is still in good order. Thanks pohanginagirls and TFTC.

Finding this cache defeated us today, not helped by the very wet undergrowth in this area.
The blackberries beat me today, they seem to be all over on both sides of the track
Very nice find with woolwood9 while attending the Halloween events at Totara Reserve.
We had a great time finding caches today.

I was in the village to drop my daughter off for a sleepover, so I took the opportunity to find a geocache.
It was starting to get dark, but it was still light enough to easily spot the cache.
I had already read the previous log and the hint which made it a bit easier.
Nice camo on the container and a good hide.
Thanks.

Thanks pohanginagirls for placing this cache
It was good to read a bit if history of this area. This was my second visit here and this time I was successful and winter is better as not bitten by mosquitoes.
Co-ords still seem 11-12m out but thankfully it's a clear hint and only one spot on the bank is free of blackberry.
The cute logbook is nice and dry TNLNSL TFTC

Today's plan was locate and sign off any many as I could on the western side of the Pohangina River so mainly up the Pohangina Rd.
I hope the girl guides are getting enjoyment out of the caches they have placed and finding others near and far.
Cheers for the cache.

great day out caching today while getting a chance to catch up with some friends to do some planning, thanks for bringing me here, these roads are great to travel - sorry about the copy and paste
There were a surprising number of muggle vehicle's going past but we managed to make the find in between them. Just as we got back in the car a doggy walking muggle was heading our way. Busy little area today.
Thanks for setting this up for us to find.

Late to log, we found this in the near dark on the 21st of February and forgot to log. Log book signed and replaced as found. Many thanks for the cache.

It now seems unusual for a cache description to have interesting information about the location's history so I appreciated that this one does. I managed to quickly track down the cache's whereabouts.
Passing through Pohangina to take a look at the Branch road track to locate a cache i had not found previously so we did a quick detour to locate these two newer caches as well. the track down to the one by the river does not look like it is used much at at. but the cache was easily found and replaced. - although the camo on the container is nearly all come off unfortunately.
this took some what longer than it should have but eventually we did locate it sign and replaced it. all was dry inside both of these Girl Guide caches.
Thank you for these two new caches up at Pohangina. Well Done.

On the way down from the ridge. It was a bit of a scramble up to GZ and a bit more of a search, but cache in hand soon enough.
After doing the new trail from palmy to linton we headed to the pohaingna valley to tidy up a few loose ends for watcache as well as a bit of maintenance.
All in order here TFTC

Needed some caches gir the new challenge so why not visit this area again. We do come this way a bit as we check our own caches in the area. Found the cache signed the log and placed the cache back where I found it. A wet area today after All the rain yesterday tftc
Today I was out caching with my son ThatWeirdGuy04 and one of my regular caching friends Stardust718, with the aim of travelling around the Pohangina Valley to attempt as many caches as we could manage in our day, concentrating on the Wildbore series but also stopping for any others along the way or else caught our fancy.
All logs for today were signed at either "Team S.T.T" or else simply "S.T.T" as space on logsheets allowed. The weather forecast had not been the best for today, but we set of in the hope that there would be enough dry spells or at least breaks in the rain to allow us to collect enough caches to be able to complete the Mystery at the Museum event currently running through Groundspeak. After about 8 hours of caching we had collectively found 46 caches, with a further 7 DNF's, which was sufficient to enable my son and I to complete MATM.
I was one of the initial trio to log a DNF on this cache. I'm happy to be able to get another chance to re-visit this one, and also glad to find the cache this time in spite of the co-ords still taking me to a spot about 15m away. But the hide location is far more suitable, even if the cache container is looking slightly sorry for itself with most of the camo having come away now. Finding a glue that can stick to plastic is no easy thing.
Nice to turn a previous blue frown into a yellow smiley. Thanks for placing this cache.

Nice spot here and suitable hide location. Unfortunately a lot of the camo has come off the container. Log signed as team STT.
Found today with the help of TwigNZ and Stardust718, thanks for the cache.

Located 30 caches in the Ashhurst-Pohangina region on a “day out” caching today. As I approached GZ I was thinking that this one might involve a bit of searching. Fortunately I spotted it reasonably early in the piece. #2554. TFTC.
A quick find and a good cache and the camo job was good.Wrote the log and re-concealed carefully.TFTC!
What a treat Mrs G chose for Mother's Day - first a drive up the Pohangina Valley, coloured today in beautiful watercolours of blues, purples, and greens with glowing autumn highlights of auburn, red and gold. Then the three new Girl Guide caches in the Pohangina Village area, followed by Devonshire scones and Mother's Day treats at County Fayre - perfect.
We appreciated the thought the Girl Guides had put into crafting their attractive caches, including the handmade logbooks.
The hint and a little geotail in the wet grass helped pinpoint this cache for a quick find. All good at the moment, but it is fairly wet and mucky around here and will presumably get worse as there is more wet weather. TFTC
Now off to freshen up and enjoy the scones for lunch!

Need two caches today for my personal challenge, so a morning trip up to Pohangina to find the three new caches. This one took longer than it should had. I was please to see a blank log for [FTF]. Thanks pohanginagirls for this cache.
I have temporarily disabled the cache so I can check it is there, perhaps hide it in easier spot close by and change the hint.
Coordinates changed from:
S 40° 10.095 E 175° 47.225
Coordinates changed to:
S 40° 10.092 E 175° 47.224
Distance from original: 17.0 feet or 5.2 meters.
I have re hidden the cache, almost the same spot, but in clearer location with a better hint. the coordinates are almost the same, just a few points off, so here an update

Hello all,
Sorry to hear this. I will go out tomorrow morning to the cache and check, perhaps relocate it a bit and try to come up with a better hint! Apologies!

Hi pohanginagirls,
I'm the 3rd of 3 who searched in the group after the event.
As mentioned, there's lots of evidence of others searching the general area. I assume they were as unsuccessful as we were...
I'm not sure how you gathered the coordinates, but if you'd like to borrow a GPS receiver please let any of us know

Apologies but I forgot to log this.
LNM1961, hubby and I looked all over the place for this cache (heavy dew and a cold area weren’t helpful ), including some distance form GZ. In regards to the hint, we thought ‘outside of the square’ and looked at various places but to know avail.
We are looking forward to coming back to this area (hopefully when the sun is on the trees) to find this cache.
Now off the the next in your series before heading to Ashhurst for the ‘4th be with you’ event.

DNF after searching a wide area with 2 other keen cachers.
I was put-off by the amount of blackberry encountered and very vague hint.
Maybe another day...

3 of us came here this morning after a nearby Geo event in order to have a go and being FTF.
By the looks of the whole area around where the co-ordinates brought us, we certainly haven't been the first to attempt this cache even if we are the first to log DNF's. Plenty of foot traffic in evidence.
So in spite of a pretty good search around GZ, and about 20 minutes of searching wider after failing to find it in the specified location, we called a halt and moved onto the next one.
The Hint is not particularly helpful. Akin to "under a pebble" on a beach full of pebbles.
I don't mean to be rude, as I want to encourage new cachers into the game, but would suggest that doing hides when you have only found 9 yourself is not a good way to go about it.
