The nearby virtual had brought me this way. This one was a bonus. Got the numbers and headed to GZ for a squizz. I do enjoy a good mail box, and this certainly was that. A favourite point from me. [^]

What a worthwhile cache, except for the live in house mate . Thanks for another mailbox find and a DT point ! Find number 316!

Whilst Mrs Rabbitto was at a local nearby shopping centre, I decided to have a look at three of the very few remaining geocaches sort of nearby that I had not yet found. This one was not on the list as I had read through and was sure that this one was going to be out of my league - however - I was coming here anyway to the nearby virtual so there was no harm in at least looking at where the cache might be. I found the tag, did the projection and headed on up towards the cache. On arrival, it was easily spotted and before I knew it, I was just making a small test climb to see what I could do then before I knew it, I was halfway, so it turned out that I could after all. Right on my limits though. Thanks from D B-A

What a fun cache! Had been looking at this one for a while so decided to make a detour today with Snails parents to make the find. A quick spot of the tag at WP1, and spotted the cache from a distance as approaching GZ. Left the others at the bottom as I made the climb, feeling safe with all the strong branches. Up and up and up! Definitely our tallest tree climb for a cache so far and an awesome container once I reached the top. Thanks for the cache SmokeyBearOG!

In the process of doing another nearby one, I was able to wrestle out the coordinates to where we needed to be for this one. After a short walk, & bit of long grass bashing, we were able to locate where this one is. Eventually Geoboy and I got in the position to be able to sign the logbook. Now back to Fountain Lakes to pick up Geo Missy & her friend.

Haven't done a good climb in a while.Good limbs like a ladder, many ways to the top. Great views at GZ. Lot of burbs out there. Thanks for lugging up a decent container. A FP from me.

Took a moment to realize what we were seeking at the start but the cords were bang on.Mrs Riddell was up to her tricks again and very happy to climb this tree.A really nicely constructed container, visible from below was her prize after a quick climb and safe descent.TFTC

I am not sure how many times I have been to this cache and I thought I had signed the log or had I? But today returned with CO to undertake some maintenance and finally sign and log the cache.

Thanks Team Smokey-Bear for the cache.

I came. I started the climb. Got probably 1/2 or more the way to the top. Left shoulder nerve pinched. Waited 5 mins for pain levels to lower and climbed back down. I guess shoulder hasn't quite healed yet. I will be back if passing this way again.

Passing through the eastern suburbs of Melbs over the xmas period visiting family and friends for a few days. This is our old stomping ground from the naughties, plus I was born here so it's nice to be visiting "home" from our current place of residence on the cenny coast of NSW. This morning, lady novo is visiting a friend for brunch and the kids are sleeping in after a late night out so I'm up and out at sparrow's for some geocaching!

I've had a full morning, mainly trekking thru Churchill NP, and it was now approaching 11am so I had time for one more before returning to take the boys out for something to eat and then some more geocaching lol.

I do love a LBH. I do also love a good free tree climb. I especially like a tree climb when the CO only allows actual cachers who climb the damn tree to sign the log, unlike other tree climbing caches farther north from here... but I digress.

Up I went. To the top.

Looking looking. Hmm, over to the other side. Oh man I can't see anything up here except Narre Warren?

As I begun my descent, resigned to logging a DNF, that's when I spotted the massive cache down there in the grass, doh! On closer inspection, it seems the attachment mechanism had given way but the cache appeared undamaged. I opened the booty and stamped the DGS stamp in my book and then stamped a novo stamp in the DGS book, and then replaced everything and placed the cache in some nearby shelter (ie not back in the grass) but not out of sight either. I had alerted the CO via a message and they have since replaced it back where it belongs (I am logging this cache a week later 7/1/23). TFTLBH and tree climb, Dirtbags Downunder. Til next time.

buhfuhguh and I were out an a caching adventure today, mainly targeting the new series in Cranbourne North before heading even further north to pick up a few extra caches we fancied.
We took advantage of the lovely weather today with the sun shining overhead, though recent rain had formed some intermittent puddles which were still thriving in the shade, and our shoes became a little muddy consequently!

The giant had his eye on the virtual here having already dealt with the heights of this mountain on a previous excursion, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a good tree climb!
I hopped the fence and waded through the long grass to where my climb awaited.

What an awesome tree this is - plenty of branches, sturdy as can be, and the views of this area go on forever.
I was up in no time and soon faced the cache which was an impressive and unexpected creation!
Very useful for keeping things together at this height.

My name entered the logbook, a trackable was dropped, and my steady descent began (I tend to find that it's far easier to get up than to remember how you did so!)
I can't not give this a favourite point, it's such a great experience.

Thanks to the Dirtbags for placing this one here! Smile

As a kid I used to climb anything to escape my annoying brothers - they were too scared to climb.
I recently met Tiz13 and she immediately cottoned on to my impending 1000th find and said I should do something epic and would look into it.
She came back with a tree climb.
I looked into it and all I could focus on was Daisy! Not the climb, not the height but having to face a a bloody big spider at the top and then try to open a geocache without falling out of the tree if she came out to congratulate me. Daisy must have gone into hiding with all the rain - so relieved and I made it safely, up and back down (down definitely more hairy!)
What an exhilarating experience to climb this tree, the view was spectacular, the experience memorable, and for a brief moment I felt like a carefree child.
Mega thanks to Tiz for making this happen and to DirtBags Downunder for the well made geocache in a truly spectacular environment - the views here make our world seem endless!
And yes Tiz, your ploy may have worked...may there be more adventures!
Now for Tiz's epic narrative......
Narrative by Tiz13 who chickened out.
About 2 weeks ago I received a message from kbucky. "I'm about to find my 1000 cache I would like to do something special." No worries I say leave it with me. I had recently discovered what a gun tree climber kbucky was and figured the perfect 1000 cache for her would be a tree climb. My issue was that she had climbed all available trees with an hour of her residence, so the search had to be broadened. I came up with 3 possibilities one of them being this cache. I msg the CO to ask a million questions and reached out to the not so secret DGS no 1 fan, both convinced me it was doable even for an amateur like me.
So I set about convincing kbucky that this was the one. kbucky had also never attempted a DGS cache so secretly I wanted her to fall in love with them so she would join me on an expedition or 2 or 3 . A plan was hatched, with 2 weeks to psych ourselves up. I brought kbucky a cape with a star to celebrate the milestone. Today was the day. Fittingly her 999 cache was yellow belt by 999hunter & then it was off to the BIG one. kbucky spotted the cache from afar but I was dubious. At GZ I freaked out but not kbucky, she kept her cool. "I will just see" she said, as she prepared herself for the 1st section of the climb. Up she went, my nerves were still in overdrive even though I had decided not to attempt the climb - I had faith in kbucky but at the half way mark she froze ...."I'm just taking a break she calls out" You can change your mind if you want" I say...at this point I'm thinking do I keep her occupied and keep talking and encouraging her or do I shut up and let her concentrate. The fact that she had fallen off a 1 Meter ladder and broken both her arms recently was at the back of my head. I decided to shut up and it seemed to work as she made her way around and up....I played happy photographer down below and yelled out a few "Go girl" and "You're almost there". Before I knew it she had reached the top ...I asked if she could see Daisy but her relieved answer of "no" came down. She manoeuvred the cache out to sign and again froze. "My legs are shaking" she tells out. Oh shit I think keep it together. I start yelling out YAY you've done it, congratulations and that seemed to get her moving again. A few more happy snaps before she made her descent getting stuck halfway having forgotten her path. Once on Terra Firma the happy dance was done and a big congratulations hug before I forced kbucky to don the superhero cape and climb back up the tree to pose some more. Well done kbucky. Tiz13 is extremely proud of you and enjoyed sharing your achievement. 1000 Woo hoo. And thankyou for letting me write your log. I might not be able to mark this cache with a smile yet but at least I was still able to share in your adventure.

This one has been on my list of caches to attempt to find for a while. I have been slowly working on trying to fill my Phisy (P81) D/T grid, and this this cache filled a gap I needed, so today I finally came out to try and make the find.

I arrived at the parking lot for the Bayview Park and made the short walk to the posted coordinates. After a short search, I finally found something that look a little out of place. I then gathered the information from the DGS tag and calculated the coordinates to GZ.

I wasn't sure the best way to approach GZ, and in usual geocaching style, I ended up taking the more difficult route lol. I then arrived at the obvious beacon and with a bit of searching from the ground I laid eyes on the prize. Wow....that is up there.

I have been trying to do more and more tree climb caches, but this one was definitely the highest tree climb cache I had seen. I almost thought I should come back another day, with a geocaching partner. However, as I inspected the tree a bit more, I think I found an appropriate route. With a few deep breaths, I then started to ascend. Taking my time and choosing my route carefully, I slowly made my way up the tree.

Of course, once I was almost at the cache, a few muggles rounded the corned. Luckily for me they didn't seem to notice me. I then climbed up the last branch, and was starring face to face with the cache. Now...how do I open it.

I think this is the part I always get the most nervous with as I have to change my focus from climbing and staying attached to the tree to opening the cache and signing the logbook lol.

However, I managed to figure out how to open the well constructed cache, a brilliant design actually and with a shaking hand I signed the logbook.

Once the cache was back in place, I think actually took a minute to enjoy my vantage point. A beautiful view from my little perch. I then slowly made my way back down the tree in the reverse of the route that I had climbed up.

I was definitely glad to be back on the ground, but proud of accomplishing such a high tree climb. A gorgeous tree. Thanks for all the fun with this on, I will have to seek out more DGS caches in the future. TFTC.

Cache Maintenance Status:

The DGS tag at the posted coordinates is still in great shape. The attachment mechanism still seemed strong and the information was easily readable. The tree chosen at GZ was still strong, I and no nervousness with potential snapping limbs. The actual cache container was still in great shape, and the design of it was very creative and great execution. I will have to remember this style if I ever hide my own tree climb cache. The inner container was also in great shape and the logbook was clean and dry with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.

Walking past, we looked, we saw, we said no.

31-Jul-22
A quick and dirty afternoon jaunt saw me head up a little hill, then up a little tree to a little box with a little logbook.

Took a little while to locate the coordinates but as I approached the tree the cache was apparent.

Felt a little exposed clambering up in full view of the walking track but it seems nobody looks up, or maybe my huffing and puffing sounded like a possum/koala and the muggled figured I belonged??

TFTC and the easy climb.

Found today with McLookers while checking out caches nominated for Cache of the Year awards. We found the directions, projected GZ and climbed the tree. Had some trouble accessing the log but eventually worked it out. Very simple really, but it just didn't click at first in my mind. Great views.

My thanks for the cache, Dirtbags Downunder.

Out with Muzza today, we made our way to this cache. It did take us a while to click and gain access to the log book. Ripper views. A favourite from me.

A fun partial tree climb. Definitely challenging for those with a fear of heights! ️

What a fun climb! The climb itself was reasonably easy -- managed it with one arm (the other has a frozen shoulder), but my fear of heights definitely kicked in. Glad I made it, and thank you for the fun cache, and to Rory170817 for great company! FP

if you ever deem this game of ours to be not extreme enough, perhaps try your hand at competitive high diving
jump and spin and twirl the twenty-eight-ish metres from rugged clifftop to churning ocean below
an under-three-second fall that leaves you hitting the water at almost eighty km/h

as you can imagine, the high diving video watched over breakfast this morning gave ample fodder to the imagination and heart rate here

but
worry not
some trees grow with the structural integrity of reinforced concrete
you just need the confidence that your limbs will stay connected to the tree limbs

if all tree climbs were of this calibre, we would happily only find treasures in trees
thanks for the adventure
and the mighty view

We walked up the hill on the wrong side and finished up doing a complete lap of the hill.
When we finally got close, we could see what we were up against. Hmm!
We figured that we just had to give it a go.
Slowly and steadily we made our way to the cache.
Thanks Dirtbags Downunder for the challenge.
A favourite point from us.

Finally able to physically do this one near to home, I took the opportunity of having people nearby who could help out of my first tree climb post ops didn’t go as planned. Thankfully it did! Thanks for placing the cache Team Smokey-Bear, a favourite for making it a fun one.

A busy day, attempting to log more types than I ever have.

I played chauffeur to today's event organiser most of the time.

Word got around at the CITO of an intended gathering below a bit of greenery, so n0w0rries and I decided that we'd wander that way for a squiz. By the time we got there, ahomburg was on his way up to the rather obvious objective to perform the eviction that was necessary before a bunch of the others below were prepared to make the attempt.

What those below had not reckoned upon, but had me chuckling while waiting, was that said eight-legged evictee could end up **anywhere** once airborne. Then they realised and there was much hullabaloo.

And that was when ahomburg informed all that he'd already done the deed while the rest were distracted. If anything, they were more horrified.

And so, the hardy climbers ascended, one at a time, to add their names to the honour roll (beckNmonts most impressive in her recovery from recent knee surgeries), until it was my turn:

As free climbs go, it's definitely challenging enough to be proud of the achievement, once I was at the objective after waiting for Phetlern to vacate the uppermost position.

A well thought out mechanism indeed, Team Smokey-Bear.

With the ink of my new stamp drying, I advised my travelling companion in his attempt, but the stresses of the rest of the day had been too much, and the obstacles here just a little much to overcome. Next time, mate, we'll come a little more prepared and you'll get that smiley.

(There was a moment of panic when, while jockeying for a better view of that attempt, I head-butted the cache outer and almost sent the log container groundward. Yikes!)

And then the difficult part... on the way up, one concentrates on the objective, and it's easier to find hand- and foot-holds. On the way down, half of that is done blind, and suffice to say I was high enough to be well out of my comfort zone.

But I did it.

Many thanks to Dirtbags Downunder for this challenge.

I was still grinning all the walk down the hill to the car, and the whole drive to the next event.

Today was a big day. It started ridiculously early and in the end became a day of numbers. Lots of finds, no DNF's and a few events. A great mix of caches. Spent most of the day with SedgwickDave, BeckNmonts, Earthbound Chief, coley_babee and OSHFAM.

Swung by for some monkey like activity, got a little dirty, ️, got back down without dying. Job done.

Thanks to Dirtbags Downunder for the cache.

Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2021?*

Our closest cache to home, and one that has been discussed many times. We were actually there the day after publication, Steve having taken a rare day off work due to the stress of his job, and as soon as the cache was spotted, up he went while muttering under his breath, ‘If I die, at least I won’t have to go to work tomorrow’. He got half way up, then changed his mind and quit his job the next day.

This is a very climbable tree, no ladders or equipment required, although it certainly is very high up, but for an ex rock climber it should be a walk in the park, but as often is the case, especially as you age, certain fears and insecurities creep into your mind.

A fear of heights occasionally effect him now, not every time. It can sometimes cause him to become dizzy, feel sick and a little unsteady which is why whenever we come across a tree climb, we go in with the intention of checking it out and with no issues if he decides to walk away. To date, he has done all the climbs but this one is different. Already in his head that he will struggle with it, its been put on the back burner, but that damn icon has been taunting him ever since that first attempt.

As I’ve kept on watch on this cache, I knew there was the added obstacle of the cache guardians that has taken up residency. I’m the arachnophobic one in the family, but Steve is not too keen on them either and if confronted with Daisy or her mates, his first instinct will be to jump backwards. I can just imagine informing his family of his death with the perfectly reasonable motive that the risk was necessary due to it being our closest unfound cache from home:)

During a night cache with ahomburg & beckNmonts who also mentioned this cache, I arranged that one of them would give Daisy her eviction notice before Steve climbed, that way I only had the worry about him passing out due to the height factor. Sunday at a CITO, the plan was to meet with up with them but on arrival, noticed quite a few more cachers already waiting with more following. Now we had peer pressure to contend with and I knew Steve wouldn’t back away from this challenge because of some stupid macho pride bullshit.

Adriaan went up first, announced there was only 1 guardian, which I presumed was Daisy and he was given her marching orders. The pressure of an audience apparently got to Steve as the next time I looked, he was half way up the tree. He didn’t look happy and I could tell from the look on his face that this was struggle for him. Took a quick photo, then had to look away. Adriaan was still at this point apparently reading Daisy the fine print of her eviction notice, and as Steve could not get past him, was handed the log to stamp from the branch below. He also mentioned that he accidentally nearly flicked the spider on him, but was ok cause he was nearly down on the ground. You had one job Adriaan!

We stayed to watch Beck do her climb which took about 10 seconds. Obviously she has made a remarkable recovery from her two knee surgeries last year.

This was certainly a challenge and our thanks to Team Smokey-Bear for setting up this nightmare. Well deserving of a favourite but could you do me one small favour and don’t place anymore dirtbag caches in our area:)

After attending the Eumemmerring Creek CITO, we had a few minutes to fill in before going to the Crystal Brook celebration Event.

Having found the location, we waited our turn and eventually went up and down behind 'beckNmonts'. Cleverly designed container.

Thanks Team Smokey-Bear for placing such interesting caches on the gameboard.

Apologies for the late log. A New Year's caching day out with Lost_and_found_79 out east. We targeted Cardinia Reservoir Park where a whole series of new caches had been placed since either of us had been out here last. Once we were done there after 30 finds we jumped back into the car to rest the sore feet. L&F79 mentioned this one so we pointed the car down towards Harkaway to give it a go. Found the information at the posted coordinates without too much trouble and geared up for where we need to head to. A portable ladder was helpful to get started but the rest of the ascent didn't cause too much trouble. A bit windier than I would have liked but good incentive to get it over and done with! Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the letterbox cache Dirtbags Downunder.

Annoying Tarbit and I headed out for our New Year caching trip. After finishing up at Cardinia Reservoir Park we headed here for a look. The rain was threatening and the wind had picked up a little, but once we were in the right spot we were fairly well protected. It became apparent that I might *struggle* with one part of the climb, but Annoying Tarbit went up to have a look. Realising that AT had forgotten the pen, I tried to throw it but on this occasion, missed the target and it went bouncing off into the undergrowth. I had a quick look for it only to be told by AT that there was one in the cache. I didn't think I had been looking that long for the pen but AT made light work of the climb. Seems I missed logging this cache as part of the group assault, it was a fun outing and although I walk the dogs here often I admired the height of this one.
The cache was logged and my attention turned to the old bridge section.
My thanks to DGS for the cache, and thanks to everyone in the group for the outing.

Well my fear of heights and my extreme fear of the 8 legged hairy kind were definitely tested here today. Whilst I was prepared to challenge the height fear, I certainly wasn't prepared to challenge the spider fear at the same time and location. That came as a complete shock. The only other time I can remember of challenging more than one fear was when I did the Alien series in Keysborough climbing a tree with my fears of Heights and The Dark. But my desire to get dirty was far greater than my fears which I faced head on.

So we had just finished up at the nearby event in Berwick when jascat mentioned a group was going to attempt this cache. She did mention a tree climb and made it sound almost like a gentle dance up the branches. She said "you just go up and around in a spiral. It's easy!". Hah, it wasn't. Her interpretation and mine somewhat differed.

I had my 3 geo kids - FoxyLoxy, SowaMLE and Snook, with me. Jascat was also travelling with us today. We were joined by others too - SteMicMitSar, firesafe, The Coffee's, Team Crackers and few others from interstate. We established the required information and found ourselves at GZ soon after.

The tree. It's big. Very big. And tall. Very tall. As I stood there I could feel my heart rate elevating quite quickly, and I was still on the ground. In no time at all, all 3 of my geo kids were climbing it. They only got up 3-4 metres before I called them down. This was not a tree for little people to climb yet. I told them we'd come back here when they grew a little more.

jascat had already climbed here in the past but kindly offered to climb ahead of me to show me the way and give me some support and much needed confidence. I had told her I will make an attempt and I did. The first 1/3 was not too bad. It was when I had to get to the 2/3 middle of the tree that I could feel fear and panic setting in. I just sat there for a few minutes, battling with my mind to either give up or keep going. I chose to keep going. It was getting a bit tight here so jascat moved to one side and let me pass. She climbed back down. I was on my own now. I couldn't do it. I sat here some more, panicking. It was then firesafe joined me, climbing up so effortlessly, passing me and reaching the top to the cache. I could see I wasn't to far from him and within an arms reach of his feet that I decided to climb up to him. Legs and arms shaking hugging those branches tight with my whole body. It was right here that my worst fear was realised. firesafe had muttered the words "there are 3 cache guardians here" I knew exactly what he was talking about and had a complete meltdown. Panic, hyperventilating and screaming ensued. OMG!!!!! SPIDERS!!!!!!! he was talking about SPIDERS!!!! 3 of them!!!! I started to swat at my head thinking perhaps somehow 1 may have fallen down from above. It hadn't but it could of. Do you know what I mean?

Well I could have given up right here and now. After much laughter from below, some words of support and encouragement were shouted. I couldn't believe it. I mustered up every little bit of courage I had left and climbed that last bit to reach the top. There was no way I was getting any closer to those spiders. firesafe hands me the logbook and with a very shaky hand I sign the log. I believe there is video footage and lots of photos of evidence of all of this. I still had to climb down! My legs and hands shook for the next 10 mins after reaching solid ground again.

Thank GOD firesafe climbed past me and opened that cache. I think I would have absolutely lost the plot up there and fallen out of the tree to my demise below had I opened it first.

Thank you for the amazing adventure I had here Dirtbags Downunder. A fav from me. I look forward to attempting and completing your other caches too.

I had a call midweek from BernieH to see if I was up for a tree climb this morning, in an area I haven't cached in for a very long time. So it was that we met at the car park here at 9am. Well, I was there, and soon had the clue. When Bernie arrived, he also had it as he'd been here before.
A very nice location, and the tree wasn't too hard, even for an old codger in his 70th year. A very nice construction presented, and the views were great, so it gets a fav point from me.
Then it was Bernie's turn, and he also made short work of it.
Then we were off further east, to Mount Cannibal.

Out for the morning geocaching with my old friend gmj3191 (well, he is a friend and he is old Wink) but don't tell him I said that.
Came past here the other day and solved the final location but decided I needed some moral support to climb this one.
It was drizzly when I left home but happily it had cleared up but the time we had to climb. And it turned out to be a comfortable climb anyway.

Thanks Dirtbagsdownunder for pushing me well past my comfort zone today.
Geobabe flew up the tree first making light work of the climb and ignoring both the wind and THE inhabitant of the cache.
Once down the pressure was on to get up there too. Having just seen the way I went for it trying not to stop for too long. With hand on heart I can say I put hand on cache too. Proud us both.
Loved the build around the container. So does the hairy guard.
Not often we look at a T4 or 5 but so glad we did today. The climb left us both feeling a great sense of achievement.
Good luck for COTY.

It has been a while since I had done a tree climb so I was rather keen to get up this way and do this one as it seemingly caught my eye on the map the other day. Either way finishing work early today I decided it was time to take it off the to-do list.

Soon enough after following the instructions I was at the desired tree and could see the cache.... as quick as I could I climbed the tree with the wind starting to pick up. Signed my name in and quickly returned and now to pick up a couple more caches before i head home for dinner. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

Today I came for a look saw the cache and as I suspected I will not be able to claim this one as a find.
I few years back maybe as I have climbed that high before but it was dark which maybe helped.
Today I’m just not up to the challenge, whether they will grow any bigger in the future only time will tell.

**Thanks to Dirtbags Downunder for placing this cache any way.**

Found at 1:11 PM GAFF2.
Gosh - my Magellan projection function is crap [B)] When I go to the GZ area, I knew which tree I would place the cache in, but the GPSr took me 25 metres further away Sad After checking a few trees, it was time to go to the "gut feel" spot and what do you know? A nice container way up there!
As is becoming the usual practice these days, on opening the ammo can, a Huntsman came tumbling out and landed on my shoe - which I dared not shake away in case I lost my foot hold [B)]
A great location and a nice set up - deserves an FP
Thanks Team Smokey-Bear

I saw this caches not to far from the multi I just found, off to the posted and almost died with a magpie going hard at me. Searched high and low but couldn’t find anything, might help if I had a read of the description. Then quickly found the tag and off to GZ I went. A quick climb and the cache was undone.

Today was a good day out, made my way down to safety beach/Mornington Peninsula area for a CITO and event. Then headed back via some bike caches. All finished off with an experience with the police.

This was my last day in the company of Na'wal and we had time to grab a few more hides before heading home. We had yet another great day, with a nice variety of hides. We can't wait to return here in the future.
Wow, I didn't expect it to be way up there... Surprised Oh well, we have come this far, onward and upward. Being in no rush, we slowly closed in on the prize. After a few fancy manoeuvres, we were soon adding our names to the log. The high fives had to wait until we hit terra firma. TFTC Team Smokey-Bear Big Grin

It's always good to be back up in the hills and I love it even more when it's quiet with not many tourists around. DAB and I were on the hunt for more caches today. We were keen on this cache but a little worried at the same time. The details were soon sorted after parking the geo wheels and we were off with the new co-ords. The tree was not a small one and the climb was a little tricky about halfway after having to shift the body a bit. Finally we were with the prize and enjoyed the hide here along view the views. Nice pathtag that we took and will log shortly. I think this is the first Dirtbag cache I have found. Here's to many more!

So glad 2 members of the buddyclub were out to collect this one - needed some long arms and long legs to tackle the climb and only 1 of us today had those attributes! Fantastic view though. Tftc

I came. I saw. I chickened out

There were a *lot* of people around here today and I didn't particularly want to draw attention to myself. Plus Geomissus couldn't get to GZ and help guide me with the descent. We will return!

An appropriately exciting cache to bring up 500 finds. Probably could have picked a better day for it as the wind was gusting this morning. Brought back memories of when I was a kid and would climb all the neighborhood trees with my friends. It's been a long time and my legs felt like jelly and my mouth was dry by the time I came back down. I stamped my green elephant in your logbook and stamped your black skull in mine. A favourite point obviously for the effort put into creating and placing this cache. In good condition.

This wasn’t on my radar the day that I got it, I was nearby-ISH searching a cache location when I was encouraged by the CO to not be soft and go check it out, I rolled up to an already familiar area and wandered up to the GZ , projected and off we go.
At first glance I said “Not for me”
I REALLY don’t enjoy heights.
Whilst chatting for a bit I just decided it had to get done, although I don’t like height I refuse to let it stop
Me having fun !!
So crazy wind and all I headed up and with a little
BUM PUCKERING I found a really neat container with the usual Dirtbag container.
Very cool spot with CRACKER VIEWS for a suburban cache.
Nice spot and tftc DGS !

Loved this one! My first real tree climb, and what a great tree it was. I wish I’d had one like this growing up, it felt very safe, no need at all for any climbing gear.

Glorious day, ripper view and a really well built cache - my closest and first DGS cache with hopefully many more to follow.

Miss Learner helped out, keen to get more driving hours. There were heaps of people walking and running around the park but despite us clambering around in hi vis (just because) they didn’t pay us any attention.

I also love the fact that this is a Letterbox. Took a bit of organising to get the stamping happening at altitude. Such a great collection of swag that as I rummaged for the logbook the stamp fell out!!! Back down to the bottom for quite a hunt that thankfully came up trumps Smile Back up, stamped, dated and took the TOTT magnet set (thanks).

I know how intensely dirtbags feel about mint tins so I wanted to leave something special for this special cache. It’s the largest mint tin you can get, and I’ve also included a decent magnet. The tin’s so large I even managed to fit an ammo can inside with room to spare. You’re welcome!

An awesome cache. Favourite point for sure.

#1653 - 11.40pm

Happened to see the notification when I was parked only 700m away.
Still not quick enough for a FTF, lol!
Did this in high wind and in the dark... because, well... why not?!

Loved it!

Every time I climb a tree
The excitement, the feeling of being free
Every time I climb a tree
The view from the top is a must see

The higher I climb the tree begins to shake
Now wind in my face time to stop take a break
Up and over, I tell myself this will be a piece of cake
My son thinking perhaps this is a mistake

I pause for a moment my leg starts to tremble
My son waits below concerned I might take a tumble
“I didn't come all this way to walk away” I mumble
I look up at the goal this is no time to fumble.

Branches they sway wind continuing to roar
Makes it difficult to climb much more
Blood shed in the process my finger now sore
Maybe another time might be better to explore

My only audience still watching from below
People pass by no one stopping to say hello
All in or nothing; I climb higher not letting go
Now at the top my proof a selfie photo

The prize now in arms reach it’s time to investigate
I open the box look inside the CO's definitely not a cheapskate
Wind blowing with force some swag swept away left me a tad irate
Nothing much I could do just sit hold on tight let the wind dissipate

The satisfaction of climbing for sure no matter how long it took
My reward for my labour personally adding my name to the logbook
With the cache and contents replaced time to enjoy the outlook
A drawing or two I’d create if I only had a sketchbook

A favourite point for sure
And hopefully many more

The tree house was big enough for a FTF Party but no-one else came. Perhaps I forgot to send the invites

This cache got released just as we were thinking of going to bed early after a huge weekend. I finished doing the nightly house jobs, put my wife to bed and rushed out the door. Driving towards the GZ, my mind was mentally going thru who the other hounds could be. The 2 closest locals I know claim not to be hounds, just like I do, but I did know they are not tree climbers, however there were a few geocachers I was worried about.

Parked in front of a locked gate, only 12 meters from the coordinates and was wondering what the Dirtbags were doing releasing a Park and Grab. After 5 minutes seeking, a car pulled up nearby but no one got out. Another 5 minutes and still nothing, until I stopping looking at trees and followed the coordinates and found Way Point 1 very quickly.

Then I moved the car into the correct parking location. Every Dirtbag's cache I've done has required some bush bashing, so I left the car and walked straight up hill thru knee length grass until getting to the top, I found the steps back to the bottom that would have made it easier.

Got to the GZ, and could see the cache. It didn't look too high. After climbing for what seemed like hours using my head torch only, I was expecting to pop thru the clouds into the land of the giants. But before that happened, I came upon the extremely well made container. Wedging myself in so the almost gale force winds could not get me, I opened the geocache to find the blank log. Then took a few photos and enjoyed the lights in the distance.

The way down was interesting. Using the head torch to look down, while trying not to let it fall off. Only once was I terrified, when the wind blew my hood over the torch and it went pitch black while I only had 2 points of contact on the tree. But what is a Dirtbag cache without a moment of thinking 'Will I survive?'

Thanks for the cache, and a favourite adventure Dirtbags Downunder
