Logs
Found a few meters away from GL according to older logs.Log is all okay and dry, no problems here. We don't understand the previous log saying that urgent maintenance is required? TFTC!
Please fix the coords and hint to make it less generic. Coords point to metal plate on footbridge, which also matches hint - I wasted way too long looking there before reading old logs. By that time we had to leave.
Too bad, looked everywhere, but couldn't found it Maybe the strong wind took it away ?
Lucky find. Had fallen on ground. Put back in position. Co ordinances not quite right but great find
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way. After the crossing on the cool ferry.., we paid this little one a visit. We had to look for it a bit. Thanks to hints in previous logs, we were able to find it about 5m from the 0-point. We sat and signed the guest book....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app

Was very pleased to get the chance to venture to Rawene on my holiday up in West Northland. It is such an amazing and quirky place .Definitely need to return here and have a good look at the shops...Mangrove walk...and the historic buildings. Thanks so much butchie bum.Plus I really enjoyed the lunch menu at the iconic Boatshed Cafe! And I definitely am keen to take the Kohu Ra Tuarua to the otherside!.Thanks, also, to bobcat2, for providing the amended Co ordinates.!Nice quick find in obvious place thanks.Favourite Point for the whole experience here....
On our trip around the world we are now in NZ as our last destination before going back to Germany and re happy to log this cache in beautiful Rawene as our first one in NZ TFTC!instagram.com/vagateers
A nice little cache with a beautiful view on the harbour. Thanks for the cache and greetings from France
S35 23.535 E 173 30.310 these coordinates should be better as gz was on the wharf. Attached is photo of log tftc
Quick find and sign here TFTC we actually found 2 caches very close together but on different structures.
Spending the long weekend for the Kings First birthday in the area. What a beautiful spot. Family searched slightly off the mark, but Mum found it this time round. Grabbed a coffee overlooking the water and watching the ferry- definitely a must do!
If you get the cache from one side of the ferry you have to get the other one and as Rawene had closed down for the day there was no chance of being disturbed. TFTC
Up from Southland with Cantabrian Kiwicampnut to get the final piece of the PWGT puzzle.
Day 6 - Auckland to Kaitaia. A long day.
Unlike friends earlier this year, we only had to wait til the ferry returned from the other side.
After a change of groups enjoying jumping off the wharf, GZ was empty, as was the queue and we had an easy find.
Thanks for the cache butchie bum

Ruru_Nz and I on another road trip to complete this area of the Geotour before it finishes.
Eating in line for ferry but couldn’t get this straight away as gz occupied. Managed it after sometime and a cold drink. Shop was shutting for day but a bit of sweet talk and they allowed me to buy two

As we parked and settled in to wait half an hour or so for the ferry, we naturally checked for a cache. Yes, just metres away. Just as we set off to look, the ferry arrived and we had to drive on. With just a few minutes up our sleeve, we needed to be quick to make the find. We didn’t have time to take a seat but that might have been wise. Log quickly signed and returned to ferry, all in time for departure. Thanks!
Found today while. Waiting for our ferry. Thought the. Ferry may return to pick us up before I located. There were a lot of hint objects. Close to GZ. Pleased to locate and sign before we boarded
Rain ️ for half an hour, which was good for us, as cooled the air for the ferry wait. Cache found quickly by mrs.
Thanks for this cache

stopped here on our way south.

This took us far too long- could do with an explicit hint, in a position like this. The ferry was loading when we arrived so we saw it leave. Nice handy public toilets. A parked van blocked the view of ladies at the corner cafe, but the lady standing outside the laundrette was wondering why we were so interested in the motto on the gun... sat down for a read of past logs and then it was easy.
What a lovely place to visit- we intend to visit Clendon House and take that ferry over next time we have a (post-retirement) Northland trip.
Also, we had been looking desperately for "holiday souvenir gifts" and finally found them in Rawene. The games shop has a variety of handmade wooden items (bowls, serving boards, spatulas) made from recycled wood by the owner's son, as well as lots of puzzles and games and locally-made pounamu pendants and scrimshaw. And the Boatshed cafe opposite has souvenir t-shirts.

After arrival on Ranui, the weather turned nasty. Ferry service suspended soplenty of time to hunt for the cache
I'm on a road trip to the far north, attempting to complete the PWGT Tahi Geotour.
This is day two, heading from Huntly to Kaitaia.
Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
I thought I was going to have to give this one a miss as there were a couple of ladies sitting really close. So to pass the time waiting for the ferry I popped over to get a coffee and was resigned to just sitting in my car when I saw they moved on so quickly grabbed the spot so I could search in peace, and it didn't take long before the cache was in my hands.

Definitely a case of reading other logs to help. Spoiler: not on wharf. First time to Rawene. The harbour was like a mirror this morning. Tftc
Second cache of the day. A quick find in the end after reading some other logs. The coords were slightly out but I was able to sit and ponder and eventually make a simple find. Ferry had just left so no audience - bonus.

Day 13 of our Northland trip, and today was Whatuwhiwhi to the Kauri Coast.
We got an early start and had a quick look in Kaitaia, including doing the compact adventure lab there.
Then it was a matter of getting to the Kohukohu ferry in time for one of those on the hour sailings. We missed one by about three minutes due to some unexpected road works, but it could have been worse as we passed a recently rolled logging truck.
In the end this was a blessing in disguise as Kohukohu turns out to be an interesting little spot, and the time flew.
Once on the other side, RG caught up with an old friend while I explored Rawene by foot, then after that we made our way to our digs with stops for the Koutu boulders, Opononi, and Tane Mahuta, amongst others.
Another great day, we will be off in search of kiwi tonight, all going well.
Thanks all COs for placing and maintaining.

Finally got this little blighter. I had to wait for the ferry to load as there was a walk on passenger sitting nearby. A little too close for stealth. The coordinates are out by a few meters and I finally got the aha moment. Glad to turn this blue one yellow. TFTC
Enjoyed watching the ferry full up with cars and a truck. I wasn’t too sure if the back gate would lift up fully -it did after the boatman got the cars in front to move forward.
I’m on a roadie north to complete the PWGT and find other interesting caches - oldies, puzzles and ones at interesting places.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache butchie bum.

Here to catch the ferry on the way north, looked in all the likely, and unlikely places but couldn't find it, tftc
All alone here at 6pm waiting for the ferry north, took a while to hunt the more obvious object then onto the not-so-obvious ones. Cheers
One of several caches we located today travelling from Kaikohe via Opononi to Dargaville. Took a while to find this one. Like others we started close to the wharf, unsuccessfully. Tried a few metres away at the “obvious structure” but still no luck. The other nearby structure produced a more positive result! #4697. TFTC.
Bummer another search but unsuccessful today.
Day 8, Thursday 27 January - from Tokerau Beach dropping down leaving Zara in KeriKeri. Then exploring Kaikohe, Opononi and Omapere with Toby and Lenny, before returning to Zara in KeriKeri. The fishy series this morning before leaving Tokerau B. Lots to do so lets get moving!

TFTC... this took a lot longer than it should have lol.
Was out this way with our whaiora for fish and chips and thought I'd make my way down to find this one. So many possibilities but my phone was sending me all over the place.
Plenty of muggles around today but was able to not look too suspicious once I got the right object. Lovely spot to take in some views and watch the ferry making its say across the water.

After finding the PWGT cache we had a look for this. We searched all around the jetty where our GPS took us but had no luck. Looked at other options but they seemed too far away. In desperation we expanded our search to an obvious host which of course revealed the little blighter. Thanks for the placement butchie bum.
I have had a few goes at this one now. The GPS signal just qould not settle and I was being watched by the ferry traffic. Perhaps a clue as to which structure it's attached to would help.
7 August 2021 2:19 pm... have memories of taking this ferry 35years ago on our honeymoon. Watched it come in, in blustery conditions after finding the cache. TFTC
Found while waiting for ferry, thankful we were charged "local prices" on the ferry I dont know why I bypassed the host so many times before doing a check. Cache all in good order.
Quick find here with Rebel98 while waiting in a very long queue of cars waiting to get onto the car ferry. We were very fortunate that we were the last car on to the ferry, as there was a large number of cars that had to wait for the next ferry. TFTC
checked out the hide here today as a list of DNF's. Please note the wee mirco IS Clearly in place and a qucik easy find. So all good here.
Roadtrip time, day 8.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.
Having spent last night at the campground in Opononi, I knew today would be a bit of a mad dash to try to get up to Pukenui and then back down to Kaiwaka by this evening, especially with the section of SH1 between Okaihau and Kaitaia still out of action due to a slip. I knew I would see a lot of SH10 today.
More virgin NZ territory for me, having never been here before. Quite a nice little part of the country, and I wish I had known about this ferry earlier as I may well have taken advantage of it to cut out a fair bit of driving today, but now I know better for next time.
The co-ords took me to a location that looked like a good bet for a cache. There ought not to be too many placed it could be, but having searched all of them thoroughly I still had to come away empty handed.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Chasing down the last few PWGT caches for Section Tahi. We’re whipping through Northland this weekend at a cracking pace. No time to enjoy the scenery or smell the roses - it’s a pity...

We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.
I had a fall on day two of our holiday, while out geocaching which has resulted in a fractured bone in my leg and I am in a moon boot and with crutches and I was told to keep weight off my leg. So I am only limited use when it comes to our trip now. I tend to stay in the campervan and just hand out suggestions of when and where GK should search.
We had just arrived on the ferry and we decided to have a cup of tea, As there were no people around we came to look for this cache, not holding out much hope of finding it, but surprisingly it was a very easy find. The coordinates were good and there were not too many options for where it was likely to be.
We stayed and watched the ferry arrive again, so we would have had time on the other side to find the cache that we drove past.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

I can remember doing a lot of the original Golden Circle series a few years back and here I am doing some more. Plus a few more of the Little Toot series. Love driving these back roads. The CO came with me as a passenger, not certain if that was a good idea only time willl tell. Though it is great to have some company to share the fantastic scenery on these back roads.
Had to wait for the ferry arrive and then leave again with a full load before searching for this one.
Cheers for the cache.

Found it in the first place I looked, but nearly got blown off the wharf in the process.
Should have found quicker but got there in the end. Up visiting from Dunedin. Tftc
Out and about today collecting some caches in the area. This sneaky hide took a little finding. Eventually located then off to our next cache. TFTC
Found on my trip around Northland Had to take the ferry to get to Rawene. TFTC!
Found it on the great journey from Far North to Hokianga by Jucy campervan on my holidays in Northland. TFTC
Keen to get this today but amongst muggles, a ferry, and the blistering cold weather today and light showers haven't been able to have a decent search, so hope you dont mind I've put a note and not a DNF
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Had to come back to this. Took a fair bit of hunting. Lucky there are no fisherman here already and the ferries left. THANKS for another {FTF} smile
Seeing a nano magnetised to a metal fence we wasn’t going to give it much time but maybe we were lucky and found without a few seconds. Tftc
