I visited this park with my niece today on the way home from the Queenscliff Music Festival. It's chock full of interesting features. I've spent some time in the gallery but never ventured into the park. Thanks for giving me a reason to explore.

I had an hour or so to kill in Geelong, so I walked about the city, getting as many caches and AdLabs as I could. This was a fun virtual experience that had a few more stages than just taking a photo. Thanks for the experience!

TFTC suscoe for placing this cache, number 14750 for me. Adding in the photo now that the information required has been sent through to the CO. A fun exploration (Despite arguing with GSEL over Tracks vs Paths). I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.

Virtual Cache # 119It has been a busy day. An early start before picking up nirgalagrin from Southern Cross Station.A quiet drive out to Waurn Ponds for a Sausage Sizzling event and a CITO down the creek.Tree climbing, more train stations and a walk in the park. (or two)I remember this place... no sign of the possum that bit me here at 3:00 am years ago. lol***"So this is what it looks like in daylight."****Logged with permission.*Thanks suscoe.See the other bloke's log for the required [photo](https://img.geocaching.com/1b763716-87dd-460a-a7c1-cad3aef33e64.jpg).

14:26Following a couple of Adventures after helping clean up the Waurn Ponds Creek, n0w0rries and I found ourselves in the city.So we took a walk in the park, gathering some details on our way. These details, submitted on both our behalfs, were, apparently, correct. So, contrary to popular belief (well, ours), we can count... and read. Thanks, suscoe. My photo shows us both at what we considered to be our favourite. We adopted what we hope was an appropriately sombre pose in keeping with the subject matter. Now we're off to the library.*Logged with permission*#8859

Back in the land of the Mighty Catters. Had a lovely lunch and then a walk up to Johnstone Park as I was after a virtual today. I used to know Geelong pretty well but I dont think I spent anytime at this park. It is quite a lovely spot and the Dome is impressive. Thanks for bringing me here.

#14,517. I have come over to Australia to attend the Great Leap Forward Mega event and travelling around with geocaching buddy Infoferret. We are now making our way east to Melbourne to fly home but stayed at Geelong last night. The target today is some challenge caches but virtuals and adlabs are always of interest and we are sprinkling in some traditionals and multis to boost the number of counties for various challenges. Had a wander around the park. IF started counting the wrong poles but I persuaded her that tarseal is not the same as gravel. Have sent the answers to the CO and had a reply within 3 minutes giving approval to log. That is prompt service! Enjoyed discovering this piece of Geelong history. Thanks suscoe for hiding it here.

After dropping some of the group I was travelling with to the train station (a group of Swifties) I decided to wander over to the location of the virtual. Yippeee- finally back in the satellite city close to sea level and far from home base at higher altitudes! We chose to visit late in the evening - cool and plenty of parking. I chose the tree painting but the better paying might be on the right. My fave object has to be the band stand rotunda. TFTC and the FUN!

I saved this for first thing this morning, time just got away from me last night and I really wanted the daylight. Its one of the things I really notice when out at night by myself, I'm sure it's okay but I prefer to not figure out I'm wrong! Parking was plentiful and easy, and it was a nice walk about the park, answers collected and sent, and it's good to see where I am to enjoy it! Thanks for the virtual!

Nice park opposite the much visited courts: David

Got some details when arriving o=in on the train and the remainder before alighting once more, Answers sent and accepted. Nice wee park here. After the rain in Melbourne yesterday, for our wedding anniversary, we were keen to stretch our legs, and horizons. I trip to Geelong was mooted, the train ride was cheap and nearby and the wee seaside town seemed to have some charm. IN addition its my birthday so a little amount of caching was factored in. We managed a few Virtuals, a 'few' Ad Lab stages based around bollards, quel surpris, and some other random others. Big thanks to all COs for their accommodating placements.

Finally, I'm catching up on logging from my trip down to Victoria for the Whittlesea Mega event. During my visit, I ventured to many lovely places, and this was one of them.
I had met up with fellow Queenslander chamad.who suggested we spend the day in Geelong as it had so much to offer.

Thank you, suscoe, for this good Virtual cache. It was a real pleasure to visit and so much to see at this location

While in Geelong for the afternoon I thought I'd find my daily 'streak' caches here in the CBD.
I've always enjoyed this Johnstone Park. I first cached here when doing the great [Flight of Fancy](https://coord.info/GC1BCA3) wherigo, and I recall the final ended near the murals (incidentally, that wherigo was way ahead of its time and inspired me to be creative and start writing my own too).
With good memories of this park (I no longer live in Geelong) I wandered around getting the required information and recalling how great these buildings look when lit up by projections on special days/events like White Night.
Answers were emailed to the CO and promptly confirmed.
Thanks, suscoe - a FP from me.

**Chronicles of a Souvenir Chaser**
July 2023 Streak souvenir chasing status : Day 25 of 28.

I'm currently chasing a souvenir - attempting a 28-day caching streak during July for the Wheel-of-Challenges souvenir campaign.

Easy (2 days) - Completed.
Medium (7 days) - Completed.
Hard (28 days) - In progress.

Day 1 of 28 - Drove to a local cache. Just a drive-by but a playground is always challenging!
Day 2 of 28 - Drove to an industrial area and then walked to a section of the FT for one cache.
Day 3 of 28 - Drove to the KCT and cycled 6km to a cache.
Day 4 of 28 - Cycled 25km from home, around KCT detours, to the FT, and then found 2 caches in the northern part of the KCT.
Day 5 of 28 - Drove to Geelong, completed an adlab plus bonus.
Day 6 of 28 - Found a cache near the morning's Brimbank parkrun.
Day 7 of 28 - Drove to the KCT and cycled 9km. A DNF followed by a find.
Day 8 of 28 - Cycled 5km to and along the Seaholme foreshore. Feet wet for a cache.
Day 9 of 28 - Drove to the FT and cycled 12km to the westernmost section of the FT geotrail for 2 caches.
Day 10 of 28 - Cycled from home and did a 34km loop including the FT from Williams Landing to Millers Rd, finding 2 caches out west.
Day 11 of 28 - Cycled from home and did a 10km loop for a cache at Truganina Park. A DNF followed by a find.
Day 12 of 28 - Rest from cycling. A quick drive-by in a Williams Landing park, with the challenge provided by the nearby playground environment.
Day 13 of 28 - Found 2 caches and 2 lab WPs near the morning's Sunbury parkrun.
Day 14 of 28 - Signed a challenge cache in Lysterfield (not good enough for this streak), then found a quick drive-by cache at Westona in the evening.
Day 15 of 28 - Cycled 21km along the Foreshore Trail to Williamstown. A DNF followed by a GC6 find.
Day 16 of 28 - Drove to Williamstown for the daily cache. A DNF followed by a multi find.
Day 17 of 28 - After a DNF on a FTF attempt in Footscray I found a cache at Truganina Park. This was a busier caching day than usual which included a second DNF, a missed TDOC FTF, and attending one of the TDOC Cachemas events in Williamstown.
Day 18 of 28 - Low on mojo on a cold rainy day, so settled for a quick local drive-by at Seaholme.
Day 19 of 28 - Biggest caching day so far - a 31km cycle picking up 7 caches along the KCT.
Day 20 of 28 - Found 2 caches near the morning's Toolern Creek parkrun in Melton.
Day 21 of 28 - 2 FTFs on TDOC caches near home, plus 6 caches in the south-east.
Day 22 of 28 - Found a cache at Altona Meadows while on a 11km cycle to Williams Landing.
Day 23 of 28 - Attended an event and found a few caches on a 4km walk looping around Bundoora Park.
Day 24 of 28 - Attended a couple of events in Gisborne and cached around Melton.
Day 25 of 28 - Found a few caches around central Geelong.

While out with friends attending the art display I managed to scoop out early to pick up the clues. Beautiful park here but a little sad to come across the homeless here. Clues easy to pick up and submitted to CO. Thanks suscoe

Such a beautiful park. And a beautiful day to go for a wonder. The artwork outside was stunning. We have our favourite of course!

We couldn't agree more with the motto stated, but sadly, it is not the case most of the time.

The sculpture was an odd one yet understandable when you look more into who it was dedicated too. Which is certainly something I had to look more into!

Quite a wonderful piece to see!

A day, to spend in, and around Geelong, exploring the history and the waterfront.
It was cold and blustery, but with warm jumpers and jackets, we were up for some adventure and a couple of good walks.
We begin our day by covering the Adventure Lab in the nearby area, which has a focus on the heritage buildings around here. Always a good way to get a feeling for the age and some history of the area.
This virtual was surrounded by historic buildings, and so was a wonderful place for us to stop and visit.
We collected information, visited a variety of places and admired all of the new rules/paintings on the back wall of the art gallery.
After visiting all the locations, we visited the art gallery to find the originals. This was a welcome escape from the cold wind, but also the opportunity to see some pretty amazing artwork here.
Without a doubt, the McCubbin was the favourite, however, we also loved exploring and looking at a contemporary version of the same story inside the gallery. The twin painting sits very close to the original, but its theme is totally different.
A FP added here for the adventure, the beauty and history, and for highlighting this heritaged part of Geelong city.
Thanks suscoe

We continued today our tour of several AUS states in the SouthWest and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Virtual-Cache.

The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.

The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent.

Thanks to suscoe for the generation of this nice cache Johnstone Park - Geelong. Virtual 2.0 (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.

PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.

Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Visited site and sent answers to CO Big Grin.

We had a lovely walk around this park and enjoyed the ambience in the early morning.
The murals are beautiful Cool, so thank you suscoe for bringing us here. My partner dalerious has had the pleasure of visiting here previously Razz.

I was on a mission to qualify for a challenge cache and I required 9 more virtual caches for that challenge Big Grin.
We were heading to Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff so I placed every virtual that I could find on our projected journey on a list. Exactly 9 virtuals were available!

After the Whittlesea mega event I drove to Geelong to visit friends before heading back to WA this week.
In between showers I wandered through this lovely area as my shoes were already wet from the days activities so i went on my merry way gathering the information.
The murals are fantastic and I chose the one which reminds me of home down south in our state on the cliffs.
Answers sent to the CO!
Cheers and FP for bringing me here.

While on my way to the MEGA event in Whittlesea, I had the opportunity to get in a few extra days of caching beforehand. This got me to go to areas I would not have normally seen and to some awesome caches. Today I arranged to meet up with Snickersallan and we would do some caches around the area, fill in some grid spaces and look at some labs. We had fun chasing multi’s, although a couple did not work out even when the checker agreed with us. We got in a few caches around this area and mainly concentrated on some labs and a few Virtuals.

What a nice virtual, I was confused as to the building front and back so I walked around and around and then had to ask someone , just to be sure, lol. Got all the answers and sent them off, thank you so much for this one, cheers.

Whittlesea Mega Wobble and Wade Tour: Day 3: More Ballarat Geotour then off to Geelong. Surprised

Once again myself and Anymules were in Victoria on our way to a Mega event. Wink Having spent all day yesterday juggling GPS and phone to try and do caches and labs simultaneously we fell well short of finishing the tour. Surprised So it was well into the afternoon before we left for Geelong. Cool Once in Geelong it was a time to walk to get some caching down there too. Big Grin Many caches were found and unless something stood out these will be generic logs. Cool

We wandered around counting poles, couldn't find the Peace memorial which we walked straight past so went to the rock and asked a local who didn't know either. Surprised Googled a picture and saw that we had walked past it, Red Face smacked ourselves in the forehead and went there. Went up and down many stairs and finally found the chair. Razz Made a good spot to sit for Anymules to send off our answers. [^] Now which mural. [?] Loved the Golden Summers era from the Heidelberg school of Australian Impressionist painters - so the choice was simple. So was the exhibition when it came through Adelaide quite a few years ago now. Big Grin

***Thanks suscoe for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

A fave from me.

I am visiting Victoria from Perth for a couple of weeks. This is a trip that we have been looking forward to for ages. Planning a week in Melbourne and a week out in regional Victoria.

Spent today exploring around Geelong and Queenscliffe. It was a cool and windy day but we really enjoyed exploring and caching.

The rain has stopped for a day or two, so I grabbed the deadly treadly and headed off to do some AdLabs in Geelong Town. Collected a couple of Bonus's and a few virtual's that I rode past.

Rode around this park earlier doing an AdLab and only noticed later there was a virtual here. Fortunately I was not too far away.
Certainly an interesting collection of buildings, and a nice green area.
My answers sent through.
Thanks, Robmc.

A second attempt as the first time I tried a few years back there was a homeless person occupying the bench. The shopping trolleys suggest that this might still be the case. It’s a nice park close to work. tftc

27,354. Found this really neat Virtual with minniek during our long weekend trip down to the Geelong Region.

With a Community Celebration Event on offer today, and my son living nearby, minniek and I decided to make a mini long weekend of it and come down from Goulburn for some quality caching and social events. We left Goulburn at 2pm yesterday and arrived at our hotel in Geelong last night at 10pm - perfect ! Up early this morning, and we had a couple of hours up our sleeve before the CCE, so we targeted some Virtuals and other cool sounding caches. This was the next cache of the day. We arrived at the park and - disaster- the entire park closed for an event ! Oh No ! We took some photos, and approached the CO at the CCE to explain our predicament. The CO kindly gave us permission to log.

Thanks suscoe !! We didn't want to miss this one.

Fav Point !

02-Apr-22
Fitzy_1965 and I made a plan to head to Melbourne this weekend to visit his son who lives near Geelong. The Community Celebration Event at Geelong sealed the deal.

After arriving late Friday evening, we got up early this morning to do a bit of caching before the event. Our target was some unusual types which included virtuals and letterboxes, with others thrown in for good measure.

The day was overcast which made for a good caching day. We went from Geelong proper to Warnambool and back to Maude where we attended an event and camped the night before continuing our advertures.

Unfortunately the park was closed today for an event....of course! The whole area was fenced off. By chance, we met the CO's at the CCE and got permission to log.

Thanks so much for bringing us here today.

Petrol prices are shooting up. Family budgets don't seem to stretch as far anymore. I decided to ride the old bike into work today, and was rewarded with an earlier-than-expected finish. Consequently, I had the opportunity to drop in on a few caches along the way.

Sadly, of the ones I visited, this was the only one I could get the smiley on. However, what a great cache! There's a lot of nooks and crannies to Johnstone Park (as there is to Geelong as a whole). It was good to be encouraged to look at a few in closer detail.

Thanks heaps, suscoe!

Heading for an event in Geelong after work, I stopped off to find some caches enroute.
Having found the required info for the answers, I located the artworks and photographed the Frederick McCubbin painting A Bush Burial.
I have been a fan of the Heidelberg School since a visit to a regional gallery when I was in High School.

A lovely morning to be out in this park and being a public holiday it was very quiet. I had collected the answers back in Dec 2020 but forgot the photo element so couldn't log it then. All rectified now. Thx suscoe for the great VC highlighting some great parts of the park.

Spending a few days in Geelong, we decided to target a few specific caches. This was a nice late afternoon adventure into town before we head off tomorrow. Mrs Rat and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the park before taking our photo out the back.
Thanks

A nice park here today that was very very quite, awesome location though

With a few hours spare this morning I decided to stop at a few caches in Geelong still left on my target list, before heading to Melbourne to catch the spirit of Tasmania for a nice and long day sail.

Thanks for the cache

My favourite mural was of the woman who watches the shenanigans going on at the park, especially on a Saturday evening. I had no idea who she was, but I felt a connection to her picture. A good old Google search revealed that it is a self portrait of Tempe Manning. I also found this:

Manning believed in portraying a good ‘likeness’, writing in 1950: ‘By the word likeness I don’t mean to imply a purely superficial representation, but something that goes deeper and portrays the character of the sitter as shown in both face and hands. This is only something which concentrated study and careful handling can reveal.’

I believe she did a wonderful job.

Of course Frederick McCubbin was a close second, if it had been a picture of The Pioneer it would have been my favourite. TFTC

BTW: Please ignore my long day of caching hair!

Found with FUF009.

A day trip to Geelong during a long weekend for Melbourne Cup.

It was a bit of a ramble today. We just followed our noses around the place.

Nice to be able to roam out of Melbourne.

Thanks for the cache.

Find # 10053
Found with sharkiefan

Spending the weekend with sharkiefan after the loooooong covid lockdown.
We decided to head to Geelong for the day and just cache our way around, no plan, just follow some icons and see where we end up and what we find.

A nice walk in the park with a ton of history around. Things you find while out caching Smile.

Town is awfully quiet today. Good thing for a cacher. A very good thing. Not that this involves a great deal of stealth! Have spent a lot of time around here in the past. 4 years over at Gordon, 7 years over at State Gov building. Carols events, town. Nice to have an afternoon stroll and gather some answers, on things hadn't noticed before! Thanks Suscoe, enjoyed the virtual

Out during Lockdown 5.0 getting my 2 hours exercise ( within my 5km ) perfect time as there isn't ba person insite. The face mask helps keep the face warm. I've been aiming to do this for ages and decided not bite the bullet tonight. Thank you Smile

This was the third of a number of Virtual today as we chased them down. We haven't too many in our neck of the woods!
Carparks were hard to find, especially with an oversized car so Mr SKI had to park in a dubious place and wait while Mrs SKI and Rebel went to find the location and the required information. It took a while, as the team hd some difficulty location th War Memorial believe it or not. They were not expecting something as big!
Anyway, information all collected and answers forwarded to the CO

It is that time of year for SKI Pair when we say goodbye to our Gippsland area and set off to do some travelling for an extended period of time. After last year when Covid restrictions saw us spent all of winter at home for the first time in many years e were looking forward to getting away again. Now overseas travel is still definitely out of the question so we decided to try doing some in Victoria before heading north. Mrs SKI has some loose connections with Geelong, so we decided to give the area a try and hope that the weather is kind.
After talking to Rebel Acts he decided that wasn't a bad idea and decided to join us for a few days of serious caching. Today was our first day, so after arrival we set off to see what we could see and find.
