Logs
Please note the previous logs. This cache and track are closed. I am hoping they will actually open it again. Trying to find the reason for the closures. It can't just be storm damage. Not for the expected time frame.
Found the Geocache 26/Oct/2024.Note the track is closed to all traffic.QPWS and QPS have cameras installed.(I am a Radiocomms Tech who had permission from Qld Gov to attend)
The track is currently closed with a revised date of 31 January 2025. Both entrances are closed with security fences.
Track remains closed until mid-July 2024. Disappointed we couldn't Di this track & cache this time around
#128 I loved this cache location. It was just beautiful. My husband and I hiked in for sunset. Just sensational. TFTC!
Apologies for the late log here (08.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.Another old cache was appreciated, as was the brunch I'd picked up at the cafe on my way here. I enjoyed the walk and the views, and made a faster than expected find once at GZ. I carried on to the lookout (viewpoint, as we'd say back home) and again marvelled at the epic scale of the Queenslandscapes. Glorious! TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
Stopped at the bunya mountains on our way from the sunny coast to Dalby. We had already done a 10km walk but couldn’t resist this oldie and I’m so glad we did this walk. What a hidden gem!! The view was just beautiful, and I had a special experience with an eagle taking flight directly over my head. Like, just a metre above me. Very cool. FP for highlighting this top spot.
Third find of my trip here. Getting all the ones that were not to far off the track. Was a little worried about getting some as there were one or two tracks that had been closed because of track maintenance or just being to dangerous. I was able to get this one with the help of the Geo partner as she had done it before.
Quick find on an overcast/ misty, windy day with rain predicted late afternoon. Today I’ve walked up from Jerry’s Plain….a lovely walk along the scarp and some spectacular views along the way. TFTC
Love these caches. Last one for today so glad QNPS haven’t removed them. Cache lovely and dry and a quick find in beautiful late afternoon. sunshine
Updated Coordinates!!! Not far from hide just a lot less sensitive area and it will better hidden if it is not replaced properly!
Coordinates changed from:
S 26° 49.836 E 151° 32.924
Coordinates changed to:
S 26° 49.830 E 151° 32.927
Distance from original: 36.9 feet or 11.2 meters.
After some sitting and thinking .. the area was too sensitive environment wise ( MY BAD) and cachers have not been returning the the cache to its actual hide leaving it visible from the trail No Muggle entries in log book. . I have found the cache visible a couple of times as I frequent the area. This new location is at the end of an existing service walk so no extra harm done and it will be out of sight no matter what.

Wow great views! Nearly stepped on a carpet snake asleep in the middle of the track.

What a great final walk for us in the afternoon on our day of walks in the bunya mountains. We have longed to walk in this area, and staying in chinchilla for a couple of nights on our way to Carnarvon gorge has afforded us the luxury of spending a full day here.
We managed 4 walks and this was the final.
After signing the log on the way to the lookout, we continued the last bit to be met with some spectacular views. From the south west a storm was brewing and after a few photographs and a short sit we began to walk back down.
It was a wet drive back to chinchilla, and, upon arrival, the awning of our tent was down from the weight of the water. There must have been some rain today!
Thanks Albatross & Nicole.

WOW!! Never had anyone complain about no dogs or attributes before...in 19yrs. I think the QNPWS notice at the top of the description makes it pretty clear its a National Park. Who would go blind into a cache without research anyways?
A bit pissed off. Lovely area but no attributes. No dogs aloud. Drove all the way up here to see a sign
Hooray! A hot day and the shade here was welcomed. Interesting to see about 50 wind turbines in the distance on the way up here. Thanks so much!
The last one for today.
We are staying in Bell and want to do some walks in the Bunya Mountains today. Had been here before, but I like to see the upgrades and the area again.

It was a perfect day for the Bunya Mountains. Not too hot, not too cold.
We did couple of walks - like this one. But this was our last for today. We will be back soon.

Great location for a cache. Easy hike to great lookout. Nice big cache - left a couple of toy swaps. Thanks for the excellent cache!
The old caches up in the bunya mountains have been on my list for a while but just haven’t always had the time when we’ve visited in the past. Today we made the trip to specifically find them.
This was the first for the day. A lovely walk from the carpark and then went the back way into the cache. Found it resting peacefully and added our name to the log. Then we went on a bit further to the lookout.
What a beautiful view! It was so nice to have it all to ourselves, we could sit in peace and quiet and take it all in. A great cache, very worthy of a FP. Tftc Albyalbatross&Wendy

New location found with Snippyhippy...better then the first location years ago...a little angelic garden
Amazing beautiful blue sky day taking the tra k to the summit. TFTC we loved it. Save and secure!
Great little cache! TFTC!
Got a bit confused with the GPS as it kept saying it was the other way but I think that’s because we were going in a spiral to the top.
Went near the aerial tower first and then had to reevaluate, but finally found it! Had some trouble with the lid but managed to prise it open with some effort.
Loved the little origami gifts inside but decided to leave them for the next person
Ps, the boot cleaners are actually quite fun to use )

There is a boot wash to the entrance of the Kiangarow walk track. PLEASE USE THESE BOOT WASHES..
QNPWS Have closed most of the western tracks. So access to Kiangarow is shut for a few weeks. There is a nasty in the soil killing the Bunya pines they are installing boot wash stations at the entrances to these walks. Westcot to Burton's Well is closed including Cherry Plain. I will update when they are open.
PLEASE PEOPLE!!! DO NOT GOTO THIS CACHE UNTILL THE TRACKS ARE OPEN.. THE PATHOGEN IS QUITE SERIOUS.
It was a really foggy day and we could only see some meters.
We could reach the big cache easily from the path.

I'd spent last night in Kingaroy in anticipation of an appointment in Cushnie this morning. With that taking not as long as expected I found myself with enough time to take the scenic route home and take a stroll to find this cache. The walk to the lookout area was pleasant and the nature we were surrounded by was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of photos were taken on the walk and even more from the lookout. What a view! A short backtrack to find the cache, initially taking the wrong geotrail which I think was not really a geotrail at all, before spotting an obvious hide...bingo! Name in the log and back to the car for the long drive home. Tftc Albyalbatross&Wendy
This was a much more popular spot than the previous caches I'd done this morning but I got lucky with a break in the muggles to make the find. When I headed up to the lookout after, there were a couple of girls doing the Lion King song on a rock while their dads filmed them. They (the dads) apologised for interrupting the serenity but I didn't mind. My daughters are all teenagers now and I very rarely see them emerge from their rooms, let alone stand on a rock and sing. Thanks for the cache
Tftc, lovely walk through the forest to collect this older dated cache.
Amazing view from up here. Thanks for bringing us here.

Walked from Cherry Plain for this one. Beautiful day for a bit of hiking & caching as we go! TFTC
Find #2998... As I hurtle towards a milestone cache, I thought I’d come somewhere that I’ve never been before...
This area is well worth the visit, and I’ll definitely be back...
I passed one group on the way up, and then had the entire Mountain to myself... I thought the cache must be oldie, but was still surprised when I checked...
Spot on co-ordinates made this a quick find after a Little Rock hopping... I’ve never seen laminated log pages before... I think that’s an awesome idea... and if I have a cache of this size, an inspiration that I will copy...
After finding the cache, I proceeded to the top to marvel at the view and the fairly spectacular grass trees...
Easily a fave cache...left Magic: The Gathering, Rivals of Ixalan Trackable: Pirate to carry on...

Walking weekend getaway with the girls. Nice little spot. Out here for sunset and what a view. TFTC TNLNSL.

I think this is my first find for the year. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2021. Tftc. It's one of the best short walk. I'm surprised I haven't found this one sooner.
Ok. Follow the map, not the clues. Once we worked that out, easy find. But do definitely go to the lookout. SPECTACULAR !!!
Have long wanted to come here for the Buyna pines and the old caches.
Finally a gap week that gave me the opportunity to come here.
The walk in was very hot, one of the hottest days on record. Glad the the track had a very gradual incline.
Easy find, I am not sure I would have had the energy for a long search here.
Another oldie done!
Thankyou for hiding this geocache Albyalbatross&Wendy

What an amazing day! I had no real plans for how it would go - other than to pack my hiking bag, head to the Bunyas with Slow Puncture to meet up with Albyalbatross and grab some of Queensland's oldest geocaches. To find these caches with the CO was a real buzz. We walked and talked and explored the beautiful Bunya mountains while discussing some of the earlier days of geocaching and how this amazing hobby has evolved.
I took photos of the wind farms, Tarong, some GIANT hoop pines, original logbooks, and unfortunately, some dry dusty soil. The drought has really made an impact at the Bunya mountains, and it was rather sad to see brown rather than lush green, and bare rocks rather than waterfalls. But we made the most of it, spotting King and Crimson parrots, listening to whip birds, and chasing after bush turkeys for a cheap dinner (OK, that last part was a lie!). Exploring hidden caves and little-known vantage points and waterfalls.
Somewhere along the way we turned left when we should have turned right, and we managed to do 26.3 kms from sun up to sun down. I was tired - a happy kind of tired the dictionary describes as LANGUOR. What a great day. I kinda faded towards the end - so very tired, a combination of sun exposure, dehydration and few kilometers on my feet, but it was worth it.

Saturday. We’d visited this cache previous in 2016 and returned today with OBC and the CO who was kind enough to come along with us and show us the area as only he knows and took us around the trails and back. We were to also discover some hidden caves in this area as well so we experienced a real treat. SP signed the log on this cache as the previous log had disappeared. We read through the names of some previous finders and saw some very familiar names. When we got this cache last time, it was in a different location, so it was good to come back and put our names back in this log. It was a most enjoyable short walk to this cache and after signing our names, we went on to check out the view. The difference between last time and this time was incredible. Last time, this area was full of wildlife and green. This time there was some wildlife but mostly very very brown. After collecting this cache, we headed back to the picnic area and I took heaps of photos of this lovely area.
We had visited here before, so just stopping in to log some TB visits.

Quick grab...once I saw the comments about the new location. Was looking around the place in the description for a while...but once I saw comments it was a quick grab...new coordinates are good.
Thanks.
Thanks.
We enjoy the walk to Kiangarow Lookout and have done it several times in the past - wonderful views ‘forever’.
Today we learnt the cache here has been re-located so we were keen to check out the new location. Approaching GZ we saw a ‘loitering lady’ further along the path so we ducked off and made our way around to make the find. Turns out the ‘loitering lady’ is a geocacher and was looking for this cache. (Nice to meet you. )
Anyway, coords look good and we had no trouble finding the cache. And we are first to record our visit in the nice new logbook.
This is a beaut, well-made cache. Thanks Albyalbatross&Nicole.

Really enjoyed this.
Found the old location with new coordinates.
Big beautiful cache very tempting to leave a trackable but I'm pretty sure I can get him further north.
Found some fellow hunters.

The original Location of around 17 yrs is becoming too worn and the muggles keep moving it up to ten meters from GZ. It is now in a position that will make a quick grab easier if the point of interest is crowded.

I was in the right place last time I tried but as the cache creep was too hard for me to find before.

Checking in on this one. Moved to original location. Cache creep was increadable. 10mtr. New log books coming. And found it notes.
Was on a trail run so thought it would be a nice find but was running out of time so had to keep moving
I looked pretty well but not good enough for this time.

The whole family came up to enjoy the view and help find this iconic cache. Ejcat found it and we left a couple of phonecards. The view was beautiful before the wind picked up the dust for the next few days. Thanks for maintaining this great old cache! FP for the whole experience.
Staying at the Bunya Mountains for a girls weekend away with 1 other cacher and 4 muggles so decided to try this gentle walk and easy rated cache. The GPS on the iPhone had us a little way from GZ and I hadn’t read the clues enough so it was spotted by one of the muggles who spied the white lid as the cache was quite exposed. Have replaced in the same spot but a bit better hidden. A great adventure to show others about this fun and healthy hobby. I’m happy too to find an oldie. Tftc
T-Tech and I are road-tripping from Brisbane to Bunya Mountains for the weekend.
Today we plan to collect the 4 caches in the north-western corner of the park, by taking the short-ish walk from the road in to each cache and back out again. Last one for the day, as we have a dinner appt. We pulled up near Burtons Well and headed up the hill. Some thought was given to taking a short cut up to GZ, but that is nigh on impossible as the bush is too dense! It's a very easy walk the long way around and we soon came across the great view. I could see the cache as I arrived but waited for another couple to move on before making the grab. TFTC, Albyalbatross&Wendy.

Out of Brisbane with IolantheK for a celebratory Anniversary getaway
A new day in the Bunya Mountains and about 12-14Kms of walking to get the caches we want to do [^]
Legs just about exhausted for today
Nice easy find (almost in plain sight), cache is dry and in good condition [^]

Absolutely loved this walk through the tunnels, vines & grass trees. Found the cache easily and stayed for the sunset.
Filled this one with a bunch of fun swag to attract some intrepid walkers. Not too far
Another big day of driving which we broke up with a bushwalk. Such a lovely spot, even on such a hot day! I decided to follow the gps while my muggle friend went for a wander. When I was 2m from 'GZ' I got stuck in a spiky bush, meanwhile muggle friend calls over from about 15m away holding up the cache asking if this was it! Once again walked away living up to my caching name. Signed log, removed some rubbish, left a TB.
Thanks for placing this cache here, really nice spot

Fpund by accident while chasing a Variegated Fairywren. But never let a chance go by!
Up in Crow Nests for Christmas with the family. I had organise a caching day with my geobuddy Grannysmith1947. She had to cancel because family had organise family get together.
Then I got of to slow start because of my eye still playing up.
My aim for today was couple old caches and other caches for another challenge.
Grab 10 caches for today
Sorry for the generic post
