Got without being seen. My bright pink coat wasn't a good choice for camouflaged however.
Gave it a really good go even with the new coordinates. My gps was bouncing all over the show. Adding this to my dnf list to see if anyone else finds it
We had been watching the logs on this cache and saw a new container had been placed. Yes the pest controllers could have taken the container thinking this would stop us coming and looking and in fact it caused us to come four times instead of once, as we had made three previous visits looking for it.All good this time. Thanks Emmacbl for maintaining this cache. Found with DadandKidsNZ and cacheclaws.
We had been watching the logs on this cache and saw a new container had been placed. Found and replaced back in the same place. All good this time. Thanks Emmacbl for maintaining this cache. Found with Minecraftlad and DadandKidsnz.

It would appear the cache was muggled by pest control efforts. Cache has found a new home now.Happy Hunting!

me and my dad tried to find this cache. this is the second time for my dad. still no luck. could emmacbl come and check on this so we can know that it wasn't there or we weren't looking properly. kind regards Minecraftlad.

I headed off the track and searched around for a while. The past logs suggested its not in the wandering willy thickets but the GPS suggested it was there. Searched maybe a dozen larger trees. Nothing spotted so gave up. It is very unlikely to be muggled. Just needs more effort than I was prepared to give it today. Another excuse to come back to this attractive bush reserve.
No luck today. Too many placed to look and the GPS was bouncing all over the place, which didn;t helpNext time.......
I decided to get out among nature and find the caches in Awahuri forest and continuing up the walkway to Kitchener Park. The areas were full of muggles , so I was pleased I wore black so I could blend in the scenery unobtrusively. I nearly gave up looking for this beauty, but that it was peeping at me. Tftc.
after a bit of bumbling around we found this cache.
great to be able to tick another small area off.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… We’re on a big Easter weekend excursion visiting Vikings and anything else in between.
Easter Sunday: This was more of a blind wander off track. Luckily, there were limits in place or this would have been a no go at night. We arrived at an area where there was evidence of foot traffic. One of us focused on an area of heavy tradescantia, the other found the cache… Thanks emmacbl. TFTC.

Perfect weather today so I decided to have a day trip from Wellington and find a few Manawatu caches. A bit of hunting around through the trees and through the tradescantia weed (yuck!) with the GPS wandering a bit before I spotted the cache sitting on the ground probably half a metre from where it should have been. I have replaced it in the likely correct location - signed log, TFTC
Took a bit of elimination, phone had me some metres away. Nice to read it’s OK to leave the boardwalk. Thanks emmacbl!

Mr Geckoh had tried to locate this one whilst holding one of the dogs, which was not successful so we put the dogs in the van and headed back. Once we had worked our way off the boardwalk, Mrs Geckoh was quick to locate the cache , whilst Mr Geckoh was still trying to find GZ. TFTC

The last of the ‘off track’ caches. Am really enjoying the walk around this reserve and look forward to seeing it in 2026. The cool breeze is wonderful.
Out with Itchyfeet2020 finding 50 caches today for the DGSc challenge in the West Coast. Kia ora rawa atu for the cache emmacbl.

NZ_B and I are spending the day around the Fielding area with a goal to get over 50 caches in a day for a challenge. Our journey led us here. Felt a little bad jumping off the boardwalk for this one but wasn't to much of a bush bash in pretty resilent bush. A lovely park with some spectacular trees. Enjoyed the walk so thank you for bringing us here. TFTC.
A quick check in on the cache.
Everything as it should be despite Awahuri Forest Park having changed a lot in recent times.
Great to see the weta hotels throughout the park.
Happy hunting

Out and about in Feilding today, didn't have a plan on caches just took advantage of being nearby. This cache had been on my list for a while since it belongs to a friend. Luckily a quick find before my phone died TFTC
Easy find, even though my GPS wouldn't settle due to tree cover and I had to use my geonose
Glad for the note that it was ok to leave the boardwalk to make this find! A great walk here, thanks for bringing me here emmacbl! Nice to be a bit more sheltered here - has been very windy till I got to this bush. A pity GAR is not with me though. I wonder if I have enough time to walk back to Rata St before he is due to pick me up as I know now that I won't have as long caching today as I initially thought.
4 February 2022 18:24. Last find of the day before heading off to meet my other half. I had walked 18300 steps today according to my fitbit, 7.33km, but thats nothing, my other half cycled from Waikanae! TFTC
There was a time when this nice piece of bush was all yellow smiles so good to be back on the trails looking for this greenie. Headed along the boardwalk and headed off trail at the mighty Matai and soon spotted the cache and signed and replaced. T F T C emmacbl
After a productive day in my new workplace I was keen to break the shackles of my boring digs and head to Feilding to buy a desk fan, and maybe pick up a couple of caches whilst in the area. When I headed south to Blenheim 8 years ago I'd found almost all of the local caches but have been watching the steady repopulation of previous sites, as well as new areas of interest.
Just the 2 finds, I made a mess of a Multi and failed to gather the simple details required for a find, will be back though to redeem myself!

My sister and I took turns to be the leaders on this little adventure. And we stayed on the boardwalk being noisy as anything while our parents dipped into the bush to locate the cache. Almost time for lunch! TFTC
A cool boardwalk walk through the bush and was actually good to stretch all our legs after being in the car since 6.30am. Arrived close to GZ and wow that could of been a needle in a haystack with the way my gps was bouncing around. But found it in the second place I looked! TFTC
Due to the postponement of the Auckland Mega, Buttels and the Crystal half decided to use the dates planned for the event to do some caching between Wellington and Palmy. Last cache in the lovely area today. Left the path at what we thought was a reasonably spot, but the undergrowth nearby made it quite a challenging search. Found the cache after a few minutes of climbing over roots and other branches only to find a shorter route to the path at the end.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
This one took a bit more to locate and actually turned up about 5ms furhter along the path than our GPSr's pointed us too. Found it in the end though. Was with Crystal Fairy as we headed up to Palmerston North for a weekends caching. TFTC
I had a day's leave organised for today to head up to Auckland for the Mega Event. Covid alert levels mean that, that plan has gone down the gurgler (for now). I decided to take the day off as planned, and do a day trip up here. The lovely spring weather made for an enjoyable day's caching. No worries here while doing the loop. TFTC
I found myself staying in Palmerston North last night, and feeling no great rush to get home today I decided to head up to Feilding to do some caching up there as it's not a place I get to often enough.
I've not walked around Kitchener Park before as I don't get up to Feilding very often, and when I do I'm usually rushing to get to an event. Today I had time, so figured it would be well spent walking around the park.
The pathway is well constructed and I imagine is would be popular in Summer. Today I think the weather kept enough people away to make my search nicely uninterrupted. Absolutely no issues with the container or log, which is great considering how much rain we've had recently. A quick sign of the log, and it was all put back exactly as found before going back to look for another.
Thanks for placing this cache.

With a bouncing gps sending everywhere but the right place, this cache proved to be a little harderthand first expected. But found in the end.Tftc
This was our very late lunch stop, nearby to the carpark and a very pleasant place to be able to enjoy the sunshine and birds twittering. After lunch we wandered along one of the many boardwalks in the get direction of the cache, then off into the jungle we went. After finding what we thought was an appropriate place for this cache, but realised that the phone gps under trees maybe slightly off, decided to widen the area and on our way back towards the track spotted the elusive cache. Nice to retrieve the cache, sign & replace as found. A lovely walk back to the car. Great to explore another lovely piece of local bush. Thanks to the CO for bringing us here.
I've been here a few times geocaching so I was happy to return back to a fantastic place (maybe the jewel in Feildings crown?) to cache once again. As I walked to GZ I was amazed at the size of the trees - just awesome. A quick find once I landed at GZ.
Thanks for brining me back here. TFTC

(# 6449). Today is a trip up the line to Feilding primarily to attend the community celebration event this evening. A quick find. Everything in order. Thanks for bringing me here.
Did a check up and found a nice dry cache in place. New log placed. Cache is ready to be found
I visited Kitchener Park in my early days of geocaching and at that time it was full of weeds and in disrepair. I was very impressed to see today the efforts to restore the forest and walkways. Had to widen my search off track but soon spotted it. Thanks emmacbl.
Heading up to Whanganui today for the 20th anniversary community celebrations event. Collecting some smileys on the way. Enjoyed the walk around and along this walkway. Managed 3 out of 4 caches. Ah well always good to leave one for next time. Walked straight up to this one and gratefully the GPS was spot on. Thanks for showing us this peaceful spot.
After finishing work mid-morning I had a busy Saturday planned. Not so busy that I couldn't spare the time to search for this elusive geocache on my way to an appointment in Palmy; this being the remaining geocache nearest to home in Feilding.
Unfortunately I was too busy the rest of the day to log it, so it appears. I'm now logging today's finds and see my error.
This time I loaded the coordinates into my Garmin and set off. This time I arrived directly at GZ, as opposed to last time when I was 19m out due to the rain and cloud cover. This time it was an easy straight forward find followed by signing of the log, then I continued on to my apppointments. I'm pleased as I didn't need the other Trad cache up my sleeve if I didn't find it. All good here. TFTC and Happy Independence Day. Fortunately I didn't see any aliens but some great Ents.

A trip to Feilding for three caches for my personal challenge. My GPS had me looking around a tree, found it beside another tree 14 metres away. Thanks emmacbl for the cache.
Prior to this attempt, one DNF and two finds including one not found for a year.
Unfortunately this was another DNF.
Couldn't get the GPS to settle, but searched all around without success.
Sad to be outdone by a family with their first find.

Loved this walk with the kids, pretty quick find once the gps settled down. none of the kids wanted to grab it though, too many spider webs HAHA TFTC
Gps had us all over the place but finally settled and was able to come up with the find. Signed log and replaced as found. Tftc an smiley
#11,627. An enjoyable walk in Kitchener Park, Feilding. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Back in Feilding for the holiday period thanks for bringing us into this lovely park plenty of bird life today TFTC
I had been hiding painted rocks here without thinking to see if there was a cache here, so off we go tonight, made a quick find at GZ walked out and had a baby weta on me so that was pretty cool.
thanks for the placement

The previous visit was about five years ago,and I am impressed with the progress here!!This is a great reserve and patch of bush. There are some very big and old trees here, well worth the visit and a great place for a cache.Thank you for bringing us here and TFTC!
Enjoyed the walkway but not as much as geodog!
Just getting dark and we had left the torch in the car. Soon found the container and log signed

Another very nice find with woolwood9.
*Thanks for helping make our drive / walk around fun!*
Very nice walkway, not sure why the hide is so far off the walkway but fairly soon found tonight after the Feilding event.

A quick easy find after venturing off the boardwalk, despite the coordinates being 11 metres out for us, as the cache was hidden in the logical location. Our coordinates were S40 14.733 E175 32.535, and we thought the terrain rating was a bit on the high side. TFTC
Day 6 of the week of streak woohoo almost there.
When we first saw this place called awahuri forest we wondered where this might be as we have lived in feilding a little while now and thought we new of all these parks around and as it turns out this was not a new place but just another shared name with kitchener park, but still a very cool place and it looks like it is to become something quite spectacular.
Its amazing what a few volunteers and a council can achieve, yay for feilding.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley

Was in Palmerston North for work for the last two days and was deciding on which cache I was going to go and look for today, as I was in Feilding and had just finished my last meeting in town, I decided that I might as well go and check out this cache in Kitchener Park.
Having being in this park numerous times and as I was heading South back to Wellington, I knew where I needed to park to make my way to GZ. Arriving at the car park there was no one around, so I had the car park to myself. I was able to find a safe parking spot not too far from the entrance to the walkway.
Making my way onto the boardwalk, I was quite impressed with the work that has gone into keeping this area open as it is such a nice spot, but with the amount of trees and nature being a pain sometimes, it can be a total disaster if trees come down. Today was the perfect day to make my way to GZ, and once I got to GZ it was just a matter of finding the cache.
As I was making my way to GZ, I decided that I would read some of the previous logs and I soon realised that due to tree coverage that GZ was going to be a bit out, in the end my GPSr out me 15 metres out. Arriving at GZ, I decided to following the geotrail, this is the only issue of placing a cache off the boardwalk is that there will be some collateral damage to the undergrowth as cachers make their way to GZ.
Arriving at a obvious spot, where I thought was the perfect spot to place the cache, and I noted that the area had being search quite well, it only took me a few seconds to track down the cache in the most obvious spot. Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced back as found. Thanks emmacbl for placing this cache here and for bringing me back to this lovely bush. TFTC TNLNSL (14634).
Was a bit confused with the attributes as it had tree climbing in it and I dont think that you need nor are able to climb the tree at GZ, I found this a bit misleading. The walk back to the car was enjoyable, and arriving back with good timing as a few muggles had just arrived and were about to make their way on to the boardwalk.

Like many others we were surprised to see the Seven Day Streak challenge pop up suddenly on Saturday, to start on Sunday! Fortunately, we do have several fairly local caches we could use, so expect to complete the streak - we've never bothered with a streak before. Now it is maintained for 4 days.
The direction we came from meant we actually went to the Kia Ora cache first, but ended up not even attempting it as we found the instructions confusing.
Fortunately we had this one to come to and this is a familiar area for us since we've done lots of walks and caches here over the years. And, my goodness, it has seen some great recent development. We were most impressed with all the work done in here and the new areas of boardwalk too.
It was good to know it was acceptable for us to leave the boardwalk near the cache. We had to search around a little as our GPS's were a bit unsettled, but geosense also helped. The cache was soon signed and tucked away again - but Mrs G thinks she may have put a date of 28/9/19 instead of 28/8/19 - sorry about that - really getting carried away with herself! We wondered why the tree climbing attribute is shown on the cache page, as tree climbing is not required. Just as we put the cache back some muggles came along the boardwalk, so we hid quietly in the trees until they'd passed. It's like being a child again - good fun. We then completed the rest of the walk - it's lovely and there are so many beautiful big trees to see. We met a couple of gardeners and stopped for a chat. A huge number of plants have been put in and they constantly battle the wandering willie. We praised the work and how great it's looking in here now. They were pleased to have their efforts appreciated.
Thanks for bringing us back here - gets a fav from us. TFTC.

Passing in the general area so thought i would go and have a look for this new cache, since it was not raining at that time.
I got to about 8m and couldn't get any closer. strange i thought since there are notice "stay on the Board walk" however i decided i needed to stray off the board walk and then after a few metres going in i saw trampled down wandering Willie plants Hah ha i said to myself i must be in the right place where rattll had been looking and yes i soon had it in hand
I am amazed at how much work in now going into this reserve where as for years it had no attention at all and it is looking really good. The bird life seems more numerous as well. as i saw fantails finches and even a tui.
thank you for this new cache:)

The notification had switched off on my phone so it was quite a while after the notification came out that I noticed it, however it hadn't been logged yet so we debated whether to go for it or not.
But as we could pick something up in Bulls as well, we decided we might as well give it a go.
There were a few cars already in the car park when we arrived so we weren't at all surprised to spot someone "lurking" in the bushes as we neared GZ.
So after a quick hello and chat to Searchsteve we realised he hadn't found it yet so we joined in the search. The GPS didn't settle on any particular spot, so after a search around where it indicated, we went for the more obvious hiding place. Was it a dislike of spiders or perhaps a man-look? Either way Mrs Rattll eventually had the well camo'd cache in hand [;D].
Thanks for putting a new cache in this awesome area, and thanks for the {FTF}.

I spotted the email notification for this new cache about midday and had a couple of hours free to go searching - Yay!!
But it wasn't that straightforward as there are so many awesome large and small examples of the hinted hide here.
After about 15minutes of wandering around wondering if climbing was required I was pleased to hear a friendly greeting from Team Rattl who joined the hunt.
Mr Rattl and I had just been discussing our dislike of spiders when brave Mrs Rattl laid hands on the well camoed cache and called us over. We both said we had already looked there and not spotted it! Thanks for the joint {FTF}.
+ Favourite point for the scenic walk under the mighty Totara and Kahikatea's
