Nelzarama and I took the Hawkburn Rd from Clyde to Bannockburn collecting caches along the way.As mentioned by Nelzarama- at the GZ, we realised our reception was exceptionally average and so our GPSs were being difficult. We wandered around for a while before eventually spotting something slightly out of place and coming across the cache. We added our names to the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache

Day 3 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
We contemplated heading up the road for that cache, but after a few hundred meters decided that the road would not be good for the car. Backtracked and collected this one instead.
Thanks for the cache wombats_4

A nice quick find thanks. I remember whizzing past here 15 or so years ago on the Pub to Pub MTB challenge. A fun way to see the country.

Ms_KR and I are on the road to Southland to finish off the Southern PW GeoTour. Today was a fine sunny day, though there was some rain over night. Off to Te Anau.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Continuing on our PWGT journey visiting the bottom half of the Mainland this weekend. Thanks to all the cachers for their efforts in setting up the GeoTours and sharing the history of New Zealand.

It's close to the end of Day Two of the Rima geotour by Guwapo, Papa and the two N's. Non geotour caches were not a priority on our trip. However there were a couple of places where we would not necessarily return to the area any time soon. This was one of those. A quick find by Guwapo and once again we were off! Salamat!

25-Apr-21
Been planning for a while to do a group roadtrip to get the PWGT5 caches. The Southland cachers said they did it in a day, but we knew we were going need a few more hours starting from Dunedin and we were right - we managed to get them during a 36hr round trip. Dakotacats and Guwapo (father and son) and I travelled around the countryside in an anti- clockwise route, which turned out to be a good choice.

As we approached the GZ, I starting choking on small leaves I had picked up over my head from the last cache, so it meant we almost overshot this one too. Luckily those in the backseat saw the issue and jumped in with instructions.

As we were passing and had enough daylight to stop and grab this cache.

#9370. Easter Sunday. Day 3 of the Easter road trip with Infoferret. We started in Christchurch and drove to Hokitika via Hanmer Springs, Lewis Pass, Reefton and Greymouth. Yesterday we headed down into South Westland stopping at Okarito, Fox Glacier, Bruce Bay and Haast Pass and staying overnight in Wanaka. Today we are heading to Cromwell, Alexandra and Queenstown before we drive north through Lindis Pass to Twizel. We are a driving a hybrid car and its proved to be very economical and easily has fuel capacity for the long stretches of road between townships. Our main aim is to gather up geotour caches but we are stopping for a few traditional caches and virtuals and earthcaches as we make our way around the South Island.

I had spent quite some time reading the descriptions of the Nevis Road caches and the various logs as I was wondering if we could do the more direct trip to Kingston using this road. It was summer like weather and dry but eventually I saw enough about 4WD travel to convince me it was too risky to take the 2WD rental along this road. So we just stopped here to pick up this cache. I spotted the cache in the first place checked. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks wombats_4 for the cache.

FTF 10:17 In the area for a weekend campervan trip from Queenstown back to Christchurch. I always try to keep an eye out for new caches while away from home, paid off again! Sheep everywhere around here! One mob being pushed through the paddock behind the cattle stop and another couple in the yards nearby. Didn't take too long to find the cache in between trying to avoid the attention of the farmers and their dogs.
