Looked at ground level and around in the small stones a bit higher up but couldn't spot it ... Thought I'd counted correctly...
A nice quick find. The log was a bit damp, but was able to get my moniker onto it. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Up to Northland for a few days, cruising around Whangarei. It sure has been a warm summer this trip.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Looping around the Basin, this area was about the busiest I experienced during my Christmas caching jaunt.
Initially I had little luck using just my phone to hit the right spot but once I made sense of the hint I was confident that I was in the right spot.
I then over thought the hide before keeping it simple and finding the cache.
Thanks Riser5

Third visit to this one. This time it had its corner popped out in view.. Log last signed by TwigNZ 28.9.22.
Couldn't find it the first time but after looking through some pictures and digging I found it unfortunately nothing in it
I'm on a week's annual leave, choosing to spend time traveling north to visit and reconnect with a few friends up here, and naturally that also gives me an opportunity to do some caching up this way again. Today is day 3, which involves driving from Kaiwaka to Whangarei.
This was a cache that I had failed to find last time I was up this way (Nov 2020) so I was hoping to be able to avenge it today. I had no problems parking close by and making my was to GZ where it was a reasonably quick find after eliminating one other possibility. No issues to report here, so I was quickly back on my way again after signing the log.
Thanks for placing this one. Nice the get rid of the blue frown from my map

After looking for 10 min with the help of a curious muggle who caught me by suprise, I could not find it. Upon returning to the car a local yaghty confirmed the cache was still there but I can't find it.
Taking a meandering journey to Onerahi with rustynz and gorby on the bikes, got this on the return journey. Thanks for the hide
We have done a CITO this morning, been shopping for an e-bike, bought oil and coolant for my van, and now we are hurtling along Whangarei's cycleways. Rusty has one of my e-bikes, I have my other and Rebel has his, huge amount of fun.
This cache we did on our way back from cycling. We had well noted the DNF's and we felt obliged to replace the hide. Rex had counted the poles, and this was confirmed with accurate co-ords, so we knew where the cache should have been.
So I had a cache on board that had been used elsewhere by tuolei, given by him to cyclicalcaching, who gave it to me. There is lovely paint work on this cache and we used this 200ml sistema for the cache. So we have taken liberty to do this for the C.O's.
It would seem the next finder still couldn't find the cache... oh well. Fotos added.

Well we looked , counted and searched. With rebel98 and gorby on a cycle adventure to Onerahi. Happy to get the smiley, thanks for the hide

We noted that this cache had a DNF on it but once we realised that this was a particularly new cacher we thought we would give it a try. The cache was located quickly as per the hint provided. TFTC

TFTC we were going to the shops then we were thinking i want to do a geocash so we found this one
Last one of several caches located today on our way to Whangarei and in the town itself. We were nearing the end of our Hatea Loop walk and the accompanying Ad Lab cache(s), but stopped to go after this one. Took a few minutes to locate. In the end it was indeed the second paragraph in the description that proved useful. #4598. TFTC.
Catching up on some computer work including logging recent cache finds... We discovered the original cache that was hidden in this park years ago before the new "shared pathway loop track" was installed by the local council.
The park was little used back then so the chance of muggles was low, these days the shared pathway is very well used and the little café next to the park makes this a popular stopover. With this in mind we headed out later in the evening to see if we could turn this into a "smiley" - counting to 23 wasn't difficult as we had four hands available and once at GZ a likely hide was quickly spotted. No muggles were in sight so the log was signed and the cache returned to it's hideout. TFTC

Almost gave up but eventually found it. It had got wet inside and started growing things. The logs unfortunatly had become unreadable lumps of moldy paper mush. It's now all clean and has a fresh piece of paper and the game piece that was saveable inside. Do you remember this game from the 80's?
I needed one more to complete the Solar System Wonder and this cache was nearby so woohoo I've finally got all the souvenirs in this series. Off home now vi's more geocached as I head south.
This cache could easily have taken a long time to find, but fortunately Mrs HeMaLuDy spotted something a little out of place and made a quick find.
We finally found it. Took us a while, but we were able to get it. Follow the hint and you will be able to see it.
Finally managed to walk through the park when it was quiet, then it was a quick find. TFTC
Spotted the hint item on the approach to GZ pitty dog owners don't pick up after themselves there are a few landmines around
Our first find for the morning while on motorhome travels from Blenheim. This cycleway will keep us busy for the day and what a cracker day it is, tftc.
We had a fair idea what we were looking for and where but just weren't spotting it.
Mrs rattll was trying the hint suggestion when Mr rattll said he'd found it - using the hint from a different way.
Thanks for setting this up for us to find

This is a favourite spot of our for post Parkrun picnic breakfasts, but somehow missed the brief that a cache was nearby! Made a quick grab before heading over to Parkrun. TFTC
Found this one on the second attempt, not sure how we missed it the first time!! TFTC
Quick whip around the loop to get our last cache for 2020. Nice easy find. Happy new year! TFTC.
Didn’t have much hope that we would find this one after 2 DNFs but counting led us straight to the right spot. TFTC. Perfect one and the kids enjoyed it!
North Island Campervan trip Day 10
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night was spent near the centre of Whangarei, so that I could spend a few hours caching around here before starting my drive back to Auckland. That was always assuming the weather played ball of course lol!
I was starting my day by (concurrently) doing the 2 Adventure Labs currently available near the centre of Whangarei plus any other regular caches that I would be walking past, including this one. And who says men can't multitask eh? :p
I was dodging the worst of the showers whilst I walked, and so I was only limiting myself to spending 10 minutes looking for any cache, after which I moved on. So it was that I had a fairly good look for this one but couldn't find it and moved on.

I noticed this cache on my GPSr as I was completing an Adventure Lab. I did a count while I waited for a dog and its walker to pass and then moved in fro a quick find.
Labour weekend near Whangarei heads. Visited this spot while on my bike doing AL around the area. Clever hide! No logbook inside so added blank paper. TFTC
what a nice Beautiful area and good day out cacheing with fire house after we doing a adventure lab
946. 5:14 PM. Loads of muggles so I really appreciated the description to get this dot day cache. TFT(riverside)C.
Enjoying a stroll around the Basin..its a lovely place for a cache ..thanks so much ..cache all good
We have been up in Whangarei for a couple of days. Today we did the Adventure Lab cache and found this nice tidy cache on the way around. Thanks for the cache Riser5 and Remaker13
I'd been to Auckland for the weekend with the kids. We headed back to Whangarei today to spend the day with my son in Whangarei Heads. He was outside our covid -19 bubble so it was great to catch up with him today.
I just grabbed a couple of caches today to earn the first souvenir in the Memory Lane challenge. I'm keen to get some of the different cache types to fulfill this challenge as that reflects my caching journey and my all round love of the game.
I'd been here for the previous cache so it was a familiar gz. This was a quick park and grab thanks to the exact clue. I'm logging late to allow for the time difference so this cache counts for the souvenir. Thanks for the cache
