We packed the ebikes and headed to the big smoke for a couple of days. While Mr Morris conducted some business, Lady Morris joined the CO and hit the trails. Despite the smells, the blunt pencils and all the works going on - it was a great morning's ride. Thanks for adding the trail Robmc

The weather looked like it was going to be nice to us today so it was decided to head to the other side of town. We encountered a couple of snakes but they weren't interested in us and slithered off home. Most finds were made although we did have to leave a couple and search for them on the way back and a couple of others seem to be missing. We got a little bamboozled with the tracks but it was a lovely day to be out and about. Thanks for placing all these caches for us to find.

31-Dec-23
It was a lovely day for a scooter ride! I encountered tiger snakes on the path twice in different locations, and I had to swerve my scooter to avoid them quickly. Thankfully, I narrowly missed them! I ended up with a pretty bad sunburn by the end of the day. Robmc, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.

24-Dec-23
Continuing my ride along the Federation Trail from the previous cache, I soon arrived at GZ. Much like the previous cache, good coordinates at this one lead me straight to it. I was able to find and sign the logsheet with no issues, though I did shorten my name to 'PagC' due to lack of space. As someone who drives along the nearby Fitzgerald Road most days on my commute, I have managed to catch a few glimpses of Claw hard at work recycling metal and saving the world. Today however, on Christmas Eve, it appears as though he has taken a well deserved break from his job. TFTC

Even this close to Christmas the claw is still at it! Tftc

Nice spot

04-Aug-23
Have had my eyes on the Federation Trail series of caches for a while so was grateful for the caching opportunity that presented itself today. With SpursNorth in company, we started on Fitzgerald Road and finished the day at Altona Gate shopping centre for a well deserved snack before heading home.

A blustery but mostly pleasant Friday afternoon minus the intermittent unbearable stench along the trail. With thanks to Robmc for placing and maintaining a variety of caches.

04-Aug-23
Out for the day geocaching with my brother Ketchthor. Some good spots threw out the day and no DNFs which was amazing. TFTC

I like souvenirs, so with the current Wheel-of-Challenges souvenir campaign, it means that I have to pursue a 28-day caching streak during this winter month. There's no shortage of local caches - it's just my (streaking) mojo I have to work on.
I'm also keeping this endeavour as eco-friendly as possible, so other than saving fuel and the 'environment', the additional walking and cycling will probably provide me with a few random Garmin Connect souvenirs too. (Well, I am a sucker for colourful pixels... errr... I mean digital 'art' Big Grin) .

Today's outing was a drive to the FT followed by a 12km cycle to the western-most section of the FT. This was the second find around here - might as well maximize the time out on this bleak industrial section as I have still have enough caches to find for the rest of the month. There was some recycling activity near GZ but the claw was taking a 'smoko' break. The cache was fortunately a quick find in the most likely (only?) hiding spot for the location.
Thanks, Robmc.

Easy (2 days) - Completed.
Medium (7 days) - Completed.

Day 3 of 28 - Drove to the KCT and cycled 6km.
Day 4 of 28 - Cycled 25km - along roads/KCT/detours/FT/KCT/roads again. Found 2 caches in the northern part of the KCT.
Day 5 of 28 - Drove to Geelong, completed an adlab plus bonus.
Day 6 of 28 - Found a cache near the morning's Brimbank parkrun.
Day 7 of 28 - Drove to the KCT and cycled 9km. A DNF followed by a find.
Day 8 of 28 - Cycled 5km to and along the Seaholme foreshore. Feet wet for a cache.
Day 9 of 28 - Drove to the FT and cycled 12km to the westernmost section of the FT geotrail for 2 caches.

No claw today, but plenty of train carriages. The more you look, the more you see!
A quick find, and sad to see that we are nearing the end of the caching leg of the trail and today's adventures!

28-Jun-23
The claw wasn't in action this afternoon but could see plenty of evidence of its handiwork, including several train carriages. I imagined there must be something better to do with an old train carriage but I guess not.

23-Jun-23
Reminds me of a ride at one of the Theme Parks up on the Gold Coast! I think it was even called the Claw. Sobering how much "junk" we create in this world. TFTC

16-Jun-23
Easy find! David

30-May-23
The huge nearby gantry and claw reminded me of "Day of the Triffids" or "War of the Worlds". It is massive. After watching it at work as I walked along, once at GZ the cache was quickly found.

My thanks for the cache, Robmc.

So last night I called up BackPAQer and like you do.. I said lets go find some caches...
so after some debate on which trail we would tackle we decided to FT and KCT track.

So early morning start with two scooter and BackPAQer and myself hit the trails.
Hot day for it considering it is spring.. 33C out there today..

Day started badly with two Did Not Finds in the first three...
But we ended up with 27 Finds and 7 Did Not Finds and picked up a trackable

It was a fun day out and even managed a great lunch and a pint in Yarraville to break up the day.

Thanks to RobMC for the trail. Sorry for the generic logs

Thanks for the cache and the hide
log book has been signed and returned

*Cache find # 14136.*

This part of this trail has been sitting there on the map looking at my every time I look at it, so today I decided to finally head across the painful bridge to see if I could find them.
No trouble finding this one.
I didn't think the claw was operating today but them it spring into action doing its thing.

**Thanks to Robmc for placing this cache.**

I'd spent the day yesterday at the Grand Final.

I left the car in the CBD.

So back I went on the treddly to pick it up.

Great morning for a ride and some smiley's.

This was the first on the trail today.

Nice quick find.

It has been a while with all the cold rainy winter weekends that we have gone a scooter ride but my smallest geokid and I headed out today to this trail. The weather was almost perfect and there was a small section I needed to revisit to avenge a couple DNF's I had a while ago as well. There were quite a few "interesting" smells emanating from some of the industrial areas.

Another nice quick find here.
Thanks Robmc for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

A five km walk to finish the day, and this series.
Started under the bridge and headed to The Shiny Mountain first of all.
Walking to the west for the rest.
The Claw was resting this evening after a busy day of choosing...
Thanks for the cache and the series Robmc.

13-Mar-22
Today's 'brief' stint was an 18km (we thought it would be about 10) walk which took us nearly 5 hrs, along a bike track, my bike is currently in pieces.
By this point, day1976 was finding all the caches while I sat down whenever we stopped.

13-Mar-22
Found with ilukaperi on a short day stint in Melbourne's western suburbs.

Another nice easy find. Thankyou.

01-Mar-22
Walking on to this particular cache had my spy the inscription literally carved into the surface of the trail.
What an odd first word. At first I thought it had some French connection what with the final e. Then I look it up - a monetary unit of of Samoa equal to one hundredth of a tala. Why not just say money puss? Why even carve it in? A critique of the importance of money in a capitalist society? Who knows.
Cache found without a problem.

Mr S's second stop. the noise and excitement of The Claw overtook all searching for a while.
Finally had the cache in hand.
It was pleasant on the FT this morning, the breeze was reasonably gentle and there were very few other users.
Thanks to Robmc for this hide.
