GoodLook and I were in the USA from Australia with our primary purpose to attend the GPS Adventure Maze and GeoWoodstock XVII in Fort Worth Texas, but then our plans expanded....
Whilst in the US I attended the ASP Geobash Mega in NY State; visited family friends near Detroit; went on a long road trip where we checked out Death Valley in California, and unique sights in Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas to name just a few of the states.
The scenery, towns and adventures were both interesting and varied. It was great catching up with US and Canadian friends (new and old), and making plans for future trips.
We certainly targeted virtuals, earth caches, Adventure Labs, events and several trails. Your virtual being one on our 'must do list'.
Thanks for keeping the virtual alive!

It is just really too bad when a business trip is planned in a place like Las Vegas and I have an opportunity to come early to do a little caching before the meeting. When I found out I was heading to the south west, I made arrangements to do just that. Come down early and hit the Route 66 power trail. I have wanted to do this trail for quite some time. Last year I was down in the area and managed to get the E. T. Highway cleaned up. Of course, I will need to plan a return trip to that trail at some point since they have added quite a few more caches since I got the 1500 that were there last year. For this trip, a good friend, Vulcan64, was able to get some time off and join me for a caching adventure. So we flew down on Tuesday from Sioux Falls and then we worked our way down to Barstow, grabbing a couple of caches along the way. We tried to focus our attention on virtual caches and earth caches for the first night, but there were some terrific targets of opportunity that we could not pass up. In the morning, we took a little walk to grab a nearby cache since breakfast was not ready to be served. Once we got a quick breakfast, we took off for the trail. Once again, there were a few nice targets for us to grab before we made our way down to cache 001. From there we hit the trail with gusto. We did get a couple of other nice caches along the way as well, but our goal was to get the Route 66 trail done in a day. We managed to get it done. What a great trail! We had a lot of fun and we managed to stay safe. Only a few cuts and bumps along the way. By the time we the moon was starting to rise, a beautiful full moon, by the way, we were still about a hundred short of completing the trail. The light of the fading sun was precious, but fleeting. We went as fast as we could, but we ended up finishing in the dark. Good thing we brought flash lights along with us. We signed the logs as VB for Vulcan64 and Beta59. Thanks for all of the great caches, on the trail as well as before, after and in between.
Great part of history.Ive gone to this place before while benching. I stumbled on this Geocaching deal today so ima log this destination in. Don't believe you said there is a log in micro hidden out there?

Interesting site! I wonder if the original was preserved in a museum somewhere...or was just taken off with the rest of the recycling?? Thanks for bringing me here and for the history lesson--another spot I would never have known about without geocaching. email sent.
Wow, who knew? Thanks for the information - love virtuals! Information to follow.

Driving from Las Vegas to LAX on my way back to Australia and did a slight detour to get this virtual cache. Interesting bit of information thanks.
What a crazy week. Winding down our visit to the area, we made the small trip down here to see what the virtual was about. During the last few miles, speculation ran back and forth inside the vehicle as to exactly happened here. When we got here, we found out that one of our guesses was spot on.
Thanks for the peek into Nevada's past.

Found with Albida and Sol de Lune (who should have sent the email already let me know if you need another one).
BTW later next month I also visited a similar spot in Canada but this is much more unassuming than the Canadian one.
After completing the Route66 Power Trail and did some cache around Barstow it was time we headed out. We where heading off to Las Vegas and getting a few caches enroute
Signed our logs using team name: SAM : (Sol de Lune ,Albida and mtrax)

US12. I was quite impressed to see the LV boulevard extended all the way to Jean. We headed along it, collecting caches as we went. This one was a bit odd the beaten track, but our curiosity beat the extra dust in the car. Very interesting. Thanks.
