A chilly Melbourne day, the best time I have found gor cache hunting as there are far fewer people around to spy your activity. Glad to have had a torch on hand otherwise I would have missed this well. Well hidden. TFTC
Couldn't park the other day. Came back, found a spot close by and walked in to start my search. I needed my torch to spot it. Signed in and replaced it where I thought it should have been - judging by the container. Nice old gum trees here. hey are great trees in a paddock. Thanks for the fun napier92
I found this cache on my Mega Walk #26 - a 31,000 step 3 Stage walk through Coburg, then Middle Gorge and finally South Morang to Bundoora. Back onto the Western side of the main road again. A quick find here and a nice little cache set up. Thanks from D B-A
Eucalyptus camaldulensis, commonly known as the river red gum, is a species of flowering plant in the family Myrtaceae, and is endemic to Australia. It is a tree with smooth white or cream-coloured bark, lance-shaped or curved adult leaves, flower buds in groups of seven or nine, white flowers and hemispherical fruit with the valves extending beyond the rim. A familiar and iconic tree, it is seen along many watercourses across inland Australia, providing shade in the extreme temperatures of central Australia. It is a tree that typically grows to a height of 20 metres (66 ft) but sometimes to 45 metres (148 ft).Hollows start to form at around 120180 years of age, creating habitat for many wildlife species, including a range of breeding and roosting animals such as bats, carpet pythons, and birds. From this we can determine that this tree may be more than 150 years old. How magnificent!
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 27/74, Saturday. Another really hot day so I decided to do some train-hopping and go here and there. Beautiful Bundoora was one of my targets because I wanted to see the RMIT campus over there. I also walked a lot today again. This was a quick find. Thank you for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Logged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).
Busy... busy... busy! Christmas is almost here and lots to do still... hardly any time for caching but I had to get out this morning and find a heap of caches if I was going to earn the *December Solstice souvenir*. And so I was up early and heading over the the City of Whittlesea where I still had lots of caches to look for. The first hour was really productive... every cache a quick find... but not so the next couple of hours. As is the way of caching, my targets were either hard to find or possibly missing... Still, with perseverance, I got there... got the souvenir. Thanks **napier92** for this cache... a nice easy find.
Out in the northern 'burbs doing a mini cache run. This was the first for he day, a quick easy one. What a beautiful Old Red.
Very old and noble tree. Luckily the cache had a tail in it so I could retrieve it from its hiding spot. Great idea TFTC
Nearly missed it completely, luckily I saw the tail when I was showing my boy where it could be!
This location must have changed a lot but the tree is still going strong! My wooden jumper didn’t appreciate the retrieval of that.
A beautiful old tree, good to see still looking in good health as well.
I didn't see the caching aide here until I had retrieved it the hard way first. Re-set now for the next finder, thanks for the cache napier92.

All is good here! Thanks for the hide

After finding a certain cache on the other side of town I had some maintenance business to attend in Woodlands then in Whittlesea and to finish of WEGT trail that has been on my radar for awhile
I have been laid up with a bung knee so not much walking could be done lately but finally it has recovered enough to get me out and about and finding a few caches.
You have to really appreciate some of these old red gums and it is great to see that some of them have not been lost to progress and are still around for us to enjoy.
Nice and quiet around here and everybody still must be in holiday mode.
Thanks napier92 TFTC.
We’re all going to Rutherglen to participate in Victoria’s next Mega!
Are you coming to join in the fun?

Found on a rainy October day, nearby hockey player didn't spot me, I hope.
Found quickly, signed log and replaced. When replacing take care not to drop it, so us short folk can still reach it

Just managed to reach this one but replaced a little more as was suggested by the attachment. Thank you for placing this cache for us to find.
!Minor spoilers to location!, this one had fallen into the wrong place and had to take a risky shoulder deep reach for it to get it back

Got lucky with this one straight away, on approach, and noticed a giveaway in a clever spot. Very nice hide!
Similar to a past log i came at night and completely looked right past it the first time, great hide, TFTC
Love it! Was in the first place I looked but I missed it in the dark (night searching adds to the challenge haha)
Found on the second time through

This was the last of the GC caches for me up here today. Having parked some distance away to get my steps up, I arrived at the grand old GZ and did a circuit before deciding that there was really only one place to hide the stash. Sure enough, my suspicions were correct and I was soon signing the log at 11:35.
TNLNSL. Thanks once again napier92.

The name made me think of a kanga. Or a dog. Or a tree. This cache posed no problems.
It is certainly a very old red gum that is also home to a bees nest. Not to worry, their home is high above. A great spot for a cache. Thanks napier92 for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find today.

A great day out with Omegaman1971, Our trip last weekend got canceled due to the five day lock down so we were glad we could get out again this weekend, we had a great day out exploring new areas.
This is one of the caches we found on our travels.
Thanks napier92 for the cache.

Took us quite some time.
Reverted to reading previous logs... and an earlier log made us do a recheck and bingo.
TFTC a clever and sneaky hide, but least we feel we deserved our smiley.

We where looking for 10 minutes and finally found it. Its a very clever one, good luck to other geographers! <3
Out for a bike ride to get my exercise on a nice sunny autumn day. What a great tree? I grew up in this area and can remember, prior to Latrobe being built, there were paddocks with plenty of red gums. Glenn College, one of the first two buildings at Latrobe, was built arounf a great old red gum. It is good to see both RMIT and Latrobe featuring these trees on their campuses

Finally, a decent leg stretch after helping a friend shift their fridge and other heavy furniture to their new place, up two flights of stairs.
I could have parked closer, but firstly, I needed the walk, and secondly, there's a trig point in the Uni I want a photo of. So I started from the underground parking at Uni Hill and strolled past the ovals.
Thanks for highlighting this fantastic old eucalypt, napier92. The cache is in good nick.
Now for a bit more walking to build up an appetite for a promised dinner.

After claiming a very high D/T challenge cache in the You Yangs yesterday, only a two km walk but the walk there and back was the easy part, but the climb ,thorns and huge rocks proved a huge challenge for the ageing Bushfire who had done the same walk two years ago on his own but two years means a lot when your over eighty, but I made it, so today these caches were very easy but I am still feeling the effects of yesterday.
My very special caching partners, the suscoe’s invited me to tag along for a visit to this area which I have never visited before even though I have been caching since 2005.
I could not get over the number of great old Red Gums that seem to have been reserved with their own little bit of space and the number of old fallen huge old logs that have been given their own space as well.
On my day in this area I logged as I went with FLL, which simply means that I will follow up with a decent log ASAP. I had a please explain from sbrundan as to what it meant so now you know what it means and here is my full log as I said I would place tonight or as soon as possible.
Special thanks to all the cache owners whose caches that we have found today as without you guys placing caches we would be back in the early 2000’s when if you found two or three caches you had a good day and travelled many km to get them, oh so different today.
Thanks napier92 for placing this cache.
Suscoe headed to Melbourne today in the great company of Bushfire.
We had decided to target some caches along the Plenty Road area and we enjoyed travelling around the Mernda, South Morang suburbs as well as part of Bundorra.
It was a delightful day with plenty of sunshine and a mild breeze for most of the day. It did get quite warm during the afternoon as the cool breeze seemed to disappear.
We had a terrific day and thanks goes to all the cache owners for showing us this area.
Thanks to napier92 for this hide, we were lucky to get a park nearby.

Out and about with Trailstevo, on a 10km walk, which went wrong and ended up at 16km. Having reviewed the map and seen a few more cache being published in the area I thought we would do a lap. Certainly know we had covered some distance by the time we got back, but were rewarded with 14 (I think ) cache. Two of which were prior DNFs. Thanks for the exercise and adventure Napier92. Missed it at the first glance, but then the ah ha moment.
Great hide and an amazing tree. Out with OzArtek to do some new local caches.
The container was open and contents was all spilt out. But we managed to put it all back together. So all good. TFTC napier92

A quick find with 2peasinapod2012. Had to retrieve all the pieces and put back together. Grabbed the TB as well.
Well, that 10km walk with Gunks to do a Mill Park loop collecting caches turned into a 16km trek. Found all except one. Good mixture of hides. Plenty of muggles out early but got a bit lonelier once darkness descended. TFTC
Out with xambo4u, we set out early to cache in Mill Park. A lovely day with some interesting caches along the way. A wonderfully designed cache, unlikely to ever be muggled. A favourite point. Thanks napier92
Out and about with echidna44 for an other enjoyable day of caching. Another nice water placement. Easy parking nearby with a short walk to a well thought out hide. It was echidna44 who made the clever find under the wonderful old tree. It gets a favourite from me. Thanks napier92 for all your variety of caches and spaces that you have led us today.
Arrived after I noticed someone checking out gz. Knew they had to be a cacher. Looked around gz for quite a while until I noticed what I should have earlier. The CO approached me and we had a good chat. Glad to meet cachers when out and about. Clever hide. TFTC.
After a visit to Uni-Hill, this cache was close by, with parking close by we soon found

It has been many years since I have not had to work on Christmas Eve so today I took the opportunity to have some Me Time. Often Me Time involves geocaching and this was my first find today.
Old Red was visited by 'The Old Man in Red' who found a Holiday Tree TB in the cache.
Thank you napier92 for this cache in a magnificent location.

There is a gateway that is near to GZ that cachers can use to access Old Red, you do not need to go through the fence... I note that a couple of recent cachers had struggled with this. I have uploaded an image to assist. Cheers, Napier92
Out with Greytiger and a quick find. The hardest part was 75 and 73 year olds climbing through the fence, then we had to get back through it and that is another story. TFTC.
After a day cooking sausages at Bunnings all amaali and I needed was to climb through a fence, however the need to find a cache beyond the fence made us a lot thinner, amaali made this one a quick find, then a struggle through the fence again and onto the next one. Thank you napier92 for your cache.

Went out last night with Bunadoorian to find a cache and as this a relative new one we thought we would try here. I enjoyed the walk from where we parked the car to this magnificent old tree. I looked but didn't see but Bunadoorian had a better look. Great hide! TFTC napier92
Grub62 and I were out and about trying to keep my streak going. This cache was was the closest to my home that was available. Well we arrived at GZ and checked out the obvious hiding spot, but nothing kept out at me so I moved on and there wasn't any where else so back to the obvious spot and bingo. A very clever hide and deserves a favorite point. TFTC.
This is indeed a grand old tree, and kudos to the planners for keeping it when they subdivided here. And kudos napier92 for placing a cache here.

Read the E-mail at about 9.30pm and noticed no-one had found this cache, so I thought I would give it a go. Jumped on the Geo-motorcycle and after grabbing a FTF down the road, I then rode right to GZ. Found a gap in the fence to ride through, and parked at the base of OLD RED. Motorcycle Geocaching really makes it so much easier. A quick search in the dark soon had the cache in hand. Although retrieving the cache I nearly dropped it and that would have been a disaster. To future finders, please take care getting this cache, and replacing it. Thanks for the thrill of getting an FTF. So impressive to see Big, old, Stunning trees. It looks really good at night with the near by lights, highlighting this huge specimen.
Thanks **napier92**
