Only our second fishing cache and happy to say we found this one pretty quickly. Our first pole was about 30cm to short so a nearby stick and a roll of tape had to help us finish the job. Thanks for the great cache Fratra.
Day #2. I have had WAGB, and caching in WA, on my todo list for some time. I contemplated booking in earlier in the year but couldnt commit. Two weeks ago I decided I might just be able to make it work. So a mad scramble began. Last minute flights, accommodation and cache plans - tick, tick, tick! After being awake for almost 24hrs yesterday, I enjoyed a good nights rest and it is time to go again. Focusing on some caches and LGAs north of the river today, this is just one of the many great caches found.Bush bashed through long grass only to find a track 10m away. . I had been given a heads up by the CO only half an our before arriving at this one so it didnt take nearly as long as it could have. Thank you!A big thanks goes to fratra for taking the time to add Suburban 'FISHING' - Red to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! The fun just never stops.Have you logged your will attend for Victoria's first ever Block Party? (Think Mega but even more special!)Join us on 22-23 March 2025 in Sunbury to celebrate 25 years of geocaching by logging your will attend at [**GCAP417**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).
Passing through the area on a wet winters day collecting a couple of smileys on the way; and came across my first ever fishing-cache. Fortunately I was prepared for such an occasion!!Cache and log were found in good condition. Performed signing duties and returned cache as found. Thanks @fratra for placing Suburban 'FISHING' - Red for the GC community to find !!
First time weve seen these and this is the second we managed to nab after a trip to Bunnings to get reinforcements! Simple and so effective. Thanks so much for placing for our enjoyment whilst making memories
Thanks to COs for this fellow. I get a chance to put my fishing to the test. Thanks again
Find 21 of 24 on a bike ride starting at Tom Bateman Reserve, heading along the Canning River including a lunch stop at the cafe then back on a loop through Ferndale and Lynwood, trying to clear the map. Even managed a couple of fishing caches by arranging to have the car nearby. Finished by avenging three pesky PF DNFs. Many thanks to all the COs but especially PF and team FraTra for putting out so many high quality hides.
Back to the car and then a short drive to where we had previously eyed up the cache. The wind was now up but the cache was still in place - it's on such a good branch that it shouldn't be going anywhere for a while. Then - equipment malfunction - another fishing pole is looking a bit sad and telescoping in all the wrong directions. After a couple of false starts it was down and getting it back up went a bit more smoothly.
TFTC fratra!

Look one thing I am clearly not is a meteorologist..out trying my hand at fishing caching for the first time...thinks I know those clouds look black but I think they will pass over..so wrong..can I just that that I think that fishing caching in the rain get some sort of higher D rating..anyway soaked but happy..quick retrieval here..cache and log in excellent condition thanks to frata for the lending of their tool..tftc
Day 1 of serious caching in Perth today. My main task was to find challenge caches which I will check if I qualify when I get home. After this I attacked a few pole caches which I was looking forward to.

This cache is no longer red. It’s gold. Internally it’s still red of course. Tftc.

Today we went on a fishing trip with ilook4geo and scored a good sized catch. There are plenty more still to be caught but this was one that was snagged without any problem. The container was retrieved and both names were added to the log and all was then replaced where it was found. Thanks for this cache go to fratra.
Enjoyed some tree fishing together with goingplaces2, even though the day was very windy. This one was quickly spotted and retrieved. Signing duties were soon done, all was hoisted up again and it was time to move on. TFTC.
Chwiliwr and I tried again for this cache today and had a slightly different ground zero which meant that we were searching in a slightly different area. Cache was found a bit further south still but today it was quite visible. Cache retrieved, the log signed and the cache then returned to where it was found.
Thanks fratra for placing this cache for us to find.

Stopped by to check on this fish.
The sun has faded the bison and it is now more of a silver/gold colour but is still floating around.

Was passing with Chwiliwr who had the fishing pole in the car with his new attachment so decided to try for this one. Parked nearby but couldn't see the cache no matter how hard we looked. A log had a suggestion about looking at some images but they were no good so we gave it away after 30 minutes.

After some search with the eyes in the trees, we saw it and then did the fishing.

These fish have very much lost their colour which makes them tough to spot. I searched a very long time here….far far longer than the 10 minutes I read about in a previous log. It ended up being a combination of two of the photos from the gallery that did the trick in narrowing down the trees to search. The hoop dropped down the bottom of the fork where it was originally hiding when I returned it which makes it a far easier sighting for the next searcher since there’s less greenery. Thanks for the hide.
Parked close by and walked in to GZ, took about 10 minutes to spot the cache and then it was Mr Z’s turn to have a go fishing.
With some help from me he got the cache down after a couple of minutes and after signing did a great job getting the cache back in place.
—————
What was initially intended to be a morning out caching ended up being a whole day out with the two-twins collecting a number of fishing caches before heading to Freo to end our day out.
We managed 10 finds and 0 DNF’s today.

Thanks fratra for placing this cache for me to find, this is find number 2667 for me.

A well placed cache. These caches can get the attention of locals as they wonder what you are you to.
As this one is placed out of sight of the houses it is more likely to survive the curiosity factor
We were also able to get it down and back up with a minimum of fuss as it wasn't too high for our pole.
Thanks for the cache. We enjoyed this one.

Out doing some more fishing. Took a little while to spot the Red fish. Caught it, signed log and put back. TFTH
Logged a DNF here a few months ago and today we came back for another look. Today the cache was spotted instantly TFTC Fratra
This was our second fishing cache for the day and probably the hardest to find because of so many trees in a small area.
The GPS had trouble pointing us to the exact tree so after almost giving up my eagle eye daughter spotted it in a different tree to the one we thought.
Thanks for the series Fratra, the kids loved it

We had seen a number of these new style fishing caching so on the next trip to town we organised to borrow a fishing pole. (Thanks Everlasting!). We soon got the hang of this fishing type with a joint FTF at the new Rural Fishing.
Some of the hides where certainly hard to spot and a few difficult to get down through the other branches. A couple even had us on our tippy toes.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

Today I headed out with the geoson and Kapelula in the aim of collecting solved puzzles and some fishing Pole caches.
This one took a while to spot but eventually Kapelula spotted it and we soon had it in hand. Signing duties over we are on to the next one.

Took about 10 mins to locate this one. Glad our bush modification to our pole is holding up well and making it easier to hook the fish. TFTH!
Just about turned around and went home as we drove up to gz and saw the long grass. Found the easy way in and soon had the crafty cache in sight. Not so easy to get off but an easy return. Our wobbly pole made this a little adventure...but that's ok as our new motto for these retirees is adventure before dementia. Thanks for the cache. A fave for the series if I have any...
Very early morning fish today. We werent the only people fishing as a muggle was trying his luck in the nearby waterway. Took us a moment to locate the correct tree but it wasnt long before the cache was in hand. TFTC
Was sitting at home this arvo wondering if I should try and get the Goodbye 2019 souvenir when I remembered that I had got a 'fishing pole' for Christmas. Well that settled 2 'Suburban Fishing' caches less than 3 k's from home and the decision was made.
Arrived at GZ and took an eternity to spot the hide, extended my pole only to find that I was half a meter short. Luckily I had a 2nd tool in the ute so went and fetched my small step ladder. Was still a bit of stretch but I got there in the end. I think maybe my hook design needs some work.
fratra I found your cache at 6:05pm, this was the 1st of 2 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 5904. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

Out early with dkla.vk to grab another fishing cache before the shops open, this one was a little bit of a challenge as the gps had us going around in circles
With iluvtrekking for the day - start early morning before getting hot.
We enjoyed search, found and signed the log as EV + ILT.
Thanks for the cache and hunt.

With a forecast of 40degrees, we limited our caching trip with Everlasting to the park and dash type of cache. There appeared to be a lot of snakey type of terrain in the area but were relieved to find that we didn't have actually to go into it. Thanks, fratra.
Once the weather cooled down a bit, C10 gave me a ring as he wanted to try a few of the local suburban fishing caches.
I had just woken from a nap and decided to that we would leave the puzzle ones for another day but would grab the four traditionals that had been published.
Made short work of three and had a bit of a catastrophe at the other. Got there in the end.
Thanks fratra.

I was keen to nab a December FTF before leaving the country, and a bunch got published today, but they were all fishing caches. I ended up driving 30mins to Kelmscott to grab B12’s rod so I could grab these caches. Met up with Tiger777 and away we went.
*FTF* at 10:56. This was my first ever fishing cache - so a memorable FTF. Cheers fratra!
