Quick and easy find on our way south! It's a shame the memorial has been damaged! TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we were visiting the Far North for a few days & we decided that we needed to explore the Cape Reinga area on the drive back, we decided to stop at some of the rest areas places & read up on some of the sign-boards while here, we thought we should grab this cache pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... Am staying at Spirits Bay for a couple days , an unplanned trip to Cape Reinga to take a German hitchhiker I picked up . Nice to find a cache along the way

Sad to see the destroyed memorial, but nice to have a geocache here to mark the spot. TFTC
Neat find. Shame the memorial is damaged but an awesome spot, and not one we would have found if it weren’t for the cache here.
Finally had time to take the beautiful drive up to cape reigna, it’s always special to return here
And along the ride it was just great to be able to do some caching
Found well

Thoroughly enjoying our explorations here in the North. Beautiful weather, stunning views and we have mostly had the roads to ourselves. Strangely we have had a tourist who doesn't speak much English following us and stopping when we stop. He has a ginormous camera so maybe he thinks we know where all the best views are? He keeps out of the way, so is not geocaching, and goes just behind us when we go again. A little bit weird... Cache is all good. TFTC
Great hide and a sad tribute. Many bottles so did a clean up. Name list full. So needs a new one. TFTC
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 16 - Of our New Zealand trip and we are here in the beautiful Bay of Isles. Today we decided to venture as far North as you possibly can in New Zealand, Cape Reinga at the top of Northland ( the other side of the peninsula is technically more north but is inaccessible). Cape Reinga is the most northerly accessible part of New Zealand. We set off reasonably early and intended to take the State Highway 1 all the way, however it soon became obvious to us that there was a road problem and a divert in place (apparently there have been landslides ) so we needed to divert back to Kerikeri before continuing north. Our first stop was Kaitaia where we had a stop for breakfast and to pick up the adventure Lab there along with a traditional cache. Then we continued north, the traffic was quite heavy with obviously many muggles also having the same idea. Once there we parked up and undertook several of the beautiful walks in the area to make the most of the views and scenery. It was a seriously windy day with lots of showers, but not too cold and all in all a wonderful day to explore this historic and beautiful area. We collected the Adventure Lab, earth caches, virtual and traditional caches along the way and also on the way back to Paihia including the Adventure Lab at Kerikeri. All in all a wonderful day at the top end of New Zealand.

Oh yes, it is in the ‘name’.
I’m on a roadie north to complete the PWGT and find other interesting caches - oldies, puzzles and ones at interesting places.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache thedbees.

We are staying in the Bay of Islands this week, and decided to take a trip up to Kaitaia and Cape Reinga. On our way north we stopped by to visit the Fishing Forever Memorial. We were quite pleased of the chance to pull off the road, as we were behind a slow motor home bus, and behind us was a police car. Unfortunately the bus chose the entrance to the memorial to pull over to allow us to pass, making it impossible for us to turn in to the rest area. An awkward few moments before the police car went around us both and the bus moved on. A nice quick find once at the memorial, and a few minutes break before heading on to the Cape.
Out on a maintenance run checking all the Nalawod caches I have adopted. Today was north of Awanui to the top. All is good with this one.
My friend was heading up this way on a maintenance run having just taken over the nalawood caches. I enthusiasticly joined in as I have been meaning to come back up this way for ages. My last visit was in 2018 and there have been quite a lot of caches placed since then.
Again I'd been to this spot before. Last time the cache was in the bushes nearby. Sad to hear of people loosing their lives and more so seeing the disrespect people have of memorials. My Dad was a great fisherman and we miss him and the plentiful supply of lovely fresh snapper. Thanks for another cache along this highway to the Cape

Daylight creeping away, instinct helped me find this one pretty quick in failing light lovely secret spot. Wish I had my mattress in the back to camp here the night. TFTC
One of several caches we located today between Pukenui and the “very top” of NZ. A reasonably quick find. #4668. TFTC.
Didn't think it would have been in there. Bless the fishermen who must remain anonymous thank to vandalism.
Hope they are enjoying their endless fishing. Left them my calling card. Cheers
Day 7, Wednesday 26 January - Tokerau to Cape Rienga and back today with Toby and Lenny. Then over to Mangonui and Hihi before returning to Tokerau Beach. Zara gets a rest at Tokerau Beach. Got caught in a cloud burst later today. Incredible after 15min of rain there were creeks running down the side of hills as wide as Toby where there was green grass earlier. Then it was crossing the road over 150 to 200mmm deap and there were 3 crossings withina 1 kilometer stretch. So lets get exploring!
Zara, Toby, Lenny and I are on our North Island expidition for a couple of weeks. Got The Seagnoid along for the first 4 days, heading to the Auckland Mega. PWGTs and TMGTs are on the radar for this trip. Lots of driving on gravel roads and visited lots of amazing places on our 6000km road trip snagging 200+ caches along the way. Visiting Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Gisborne and White Rock along our journey. Another awesome trip. Thanks to all CO's.

What a great place to stop and visit, lovely views. Shame about the memorial. Thanks for bringing me here. TFGC
Quick find on a hot drive up to Cape Reinga with Yvettetb and Nessvab. TFTC
Sad story, and cache wasn't where I expected it but the hint was spot on. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
Rather mixed feelings being here - appreciated the memorial but saddened to see people have been using area as open air toilet.
Nice hide. Would never have know

Today I decided to travel up to Cape Reinga to locate and sign off a few caches.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
The weather was pretty rubbish, but since we had planned to go to Cape Reinga today and our future plans had been altered somewhat because of the sudden lock down, we figured we might as well head that way anyway and just hope the worst of the weather had passed.
As it happened, the weather improved more and more as we returned so we did a slow crawl back, caching as we went.
We parked up and wandered over to GZ. Such a shame the memorial is in such a poor state. I didn't expect the cache to be hidden there, but I found it.
Thanks for setting this up for us to find

Been here before. What has happened to this persons memorial. Such a sad state indeed. signed the log and had a wonder after sitting for ages thx.
A great hiding place. I had found the original hide at this location and had the opportunity to read the plaque. It's a shame that the plaque is now missing. but a quick find none the less. TFTC.
Day 3 of our trip. Group of Team Seac came up for the weekend. Really enjoyed our day out seeing our beautiful country.
Sorry for the generic logs, but thank you for taking time to put the cache out, and for bringing us here. All logs signed as “SEAC”.

With the mega being postponed a plan was hatched for some of the Team SEAC crew to head north for some fun. Today was day 3 and was a BIG day for a lot of reasons...we set off at 7.30am and got back to our accommodation at 9.00pm but more importantly NZTravellers were going to celebrate their 6000th cache, I was going to hit my 3500th cache and it was 6 years to the day since most of us first met on a caching day out to Rangitoto Island!
Found the obvious spot but Mr NZT checked it and said 'nope not there'. We continued with a wider search before Mrs NZT checked the obvious spot again and what do you know there it was!
Thanks for the cache.

Out with Team SEAC on a long weekend raid of the upper north island. This was day 3 caching in which we cached around the very top of the North Island. This was a quick find following the hint once Mrs NZT began her search. Signed Team SEAC to save space. TFTC.
With the Mega being postponed we decided to head North with the team SEAC members and see what we could find in the way of caches. We based ourselves at Cable Bay making day trips to the various spots around Northland.
Our ultimate destination today was Spirits Bay and Cape Reinga.
All Logs signed SEAC to save log paper.
