Cache was found after a short search. Thanks for the fun. Do the cars ever stop?Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Woden's day the sixteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit windy today. It was so windy today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. This was a series we targeted today as it had the easiest numbers to get to our 20, walked and drive between some here. A lot took a bit of searching for but got all but 2 which was a good outcome here. Thanks for the hard work and maintenance Travelling around Victoria with Freddo for a week finding caches as we go. With two challenges on our radar we were in full force. All logs signed with our names or F+g98 for the smaller caches. Thanks for the series
Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Eleven: Bayside, Frankston, Dandenong.Weather: a bit of everything. One of 14 Thompson Road Power Trail caches logged this afternoon. Only a dying phone stopped me from making a clean sweep. This series ticks all the boxes for me - Im trying to reach 15000 finds before my 5th anniversary on Sunday, Im trying to get 20 find in Dandenong LGA to get me closer to a challenge, and Im just a few hundred micro caches short of the diamond badge too. The traffic on the road itself is horrendous, but I didnt see any walkers or cyclist on the path. I thought all the coordinates were good, the caches were in reasonable shape, and best of all, no DNFs.Thank you very much for this cache and the series Crank1. I usually do things back to front, but in this instance Ive parked close to #1 and walk the trail from there.
I thought I saw a geotrail a few meters up and I was concerned I was going to disturb the croaking frogs in my hunt (TBH I probably wouldn't have gone in). Fortunately I spotted something shiny from the path and it was quickly in hand. Good thing too because it is starting to get dark. On the way back to our rendezvous geodaughter saw the sunset and we all agree that it looks like the sunset pictures she draws.
Busy road, but pleasant enough, geo-stroll on a sensational Winter's arvo.As noted previously, this cache is alarmingly exposed - probably due to some tree pruning.Happy with a quick find no 1 of series. TFTC Crank1
Found with icw who spotted the container on arrival. The CO may need to check this cache. It is still attached to a stick, but is no longer part of the tree. We found the stick and container wedged into a split in the trunk. Tftc.
TTFC!made a very dodgy park to find but quite enjoyable walk and start of the thompson trailM
Another day, another walk. I decided to revisit the south-east and walk the Thompsons Rd. Bike path whilst attempting to find those caches I didn't find in 2022 and reaching those which I hadn't reached back in 2022. I can't say that this is the most pleasant path to walk given the large volumes of traffic on Thompsons Rd. I'd say it rivals the path by the M1 for sheer noise but has more vegetation. Now, sometimes that vegetation is picturesque and benign and sometimes brambles almost predominate. Unfortunately for us cachers, those brambles often appear very close to the caches we are seeking. I did what I could and added my weight and feet to stepping on those branches which were completely in the way but sometimes there are quite a few branches and there is nothing for it but to exercise care in where one steps. I found almost all of those I was looking for but there were one or two which were random. Many thanks to crank1 for putting these out.My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. ---A nice quick find here due to the position of the cache.
This was very visible. Number 1 done last, now for the long walk back. Thanks crank1 for the series.
Went for a walk along Thompson's with the kids to introduce them to the world geocaching. Tftf and for setting this up! Great idea!
We started searching for the cache, and when we eventually looked down it was lying in full sight on the ground! There was no log in it, so we put a replacement log in. The council has been here trimming the trees, which made rehiding it tricky - we did our best. TFTC.
Found with LittleBoss2 on our way to a week in Rye. Thanks for a quick find today crank 1
Found with Bogonghazy. On our way to Rye, quick stop. Thanks for placing the geocache
I have been staring at this long line of caches on the map for many months now, wondering how best to get them. The bike was an obvious solution so it was just a matter of getting in the vicinity and then going for it. I generally dont like doing caches in full public view so was wary of this series but quite a few were tucked away behind bushes from the main road. I picked a seriously hot day and the middle of the day but it wasn't too bad in the end (slip, slop, slap and all that!!). Using my bike i was able to speed between caches and vast majority were straight forward but a few needed a second attempt (on way back) and a bit of digging around between brambles!! Managed to scoop them all up in the end of the course of 3 hrs. A good afternoon's caching! TFTC.
This week I suddenly had to go to Australia to visit my family. So I took the plane from Amsterdam and flew to Melbourne. Luckily there are also a lot of geocaches in Australia. I have found some nice caches and even was able to go to an event. I did not expect that I would be able to go to an event, so I was happy that there was an event nearby where I am staying. When the weather was too hot, I went to visit the caches early in the morning. Luckily most caches were easy to find. Thanks to all cache owners for placing and maintaining all caches. Thanks for the cache.
Needing a cache for my calendar find date so grabbed this one on my way home from work.Sl thanks for the cache.
Found with gwd.aussie.On a bit of a numbers game today for a challenge cache I am trying to achieve. Finding this nice trail on the way home from a weekend caching and attending the Brickvention Expo. Log was wet but I was able to add our names to a scrap sheet of paper. Thanks crank1
D@geo had made herself a summer challenge to complete a summer challenge cache. These were great to get some numbers found to help, and also help her walking challenge numbers too.We don't have any trails of caches left un-found near home ain't more. So it was great to make these finds while in the greater Melbourne area while attending the Brickvention Lego Expo.Sorry, I didn't take notes on each cache, Please accept the generic logs to cover my visit to this series. On a caching run with D@geoThank you for the cache crank1
Unfortunately the log book in this first cache was water logged. I managed to get my name in there. Due to this I left the following cache for next time as I hope to come back with a new log soon and thought I may as well save a cache
We had started this series some time ago ( by car and by foot) and today I'm back with a bike to complete the remainder. Apologies for some generic logs. The GPS coordinates were usually very accurate although a couple were a little off. The blackberries and thorn bushes were an issue in places and in a number of spots the blackberries looked as though they were trying to take over the bike path! A few cyclists were and about so a little care was required at times. In the main the caches and logs were in good condition. However the log in this cache was sodden and black. I signed and left a small piece of paper as a temporary measure, however this may become damp from the old log. Thanks to crank1 for the cache.
This was an easy find due to recent winds breaking the branches
Thanjs for the trail

Quick and easy find but I managed to drop the cache / log on return. TFTC and adventure.
big thank you to crank1 for the amazing geocaching experience we had along Thompsons Road. Despite the cold and windy conditions, our electric bike and scooter journey from 11 am to 5 pm was unforgettable, largely due to the fantastic hides you provided.
Team CrustyVarmint and JuzzMagic, we're truly grateful for all the caches we retrieved throughout the day. Your dedication and creativity in placing them added an extra level of excitement to our adventure. Each find brought us joy and a sense of accomplishment, making the entire experience memorable.

One of Many fantasic Caches from Crank1 ..enjoyed them all. Out and about with Crustyvarmint and Juzzmagic TFTC
I had been avoiding these caches because of the busy road. Only the other day did I learn that there was a cycle trail on which to travel.
Today I went out with Team Juzzmagic with their bikes, and my scooter. The path was the best I have seen for a cache trail, and we had a wonderful day. Most coords were very accurate and the caches found in good condition.
We enjoyed chatting with the animals in the paddocks and, at one location, the frogs serenaded us as we passed by.
Please accept this generic log to cover each cache visited.
Thanks for the fun day, Crank1. Your work is much appreciated.

Started the Power Trail from Marriott Waters and worked my way along.
Excellent conditions for keeping muggles away today(quite windy and slightly spitty), a lake on the footpath and the calming sounds of Thompson Rd.
My only regrets were being silly enough to forget headphones and my scooter for a quicker journey back to base

Chasing the souvenir on offer this month (which I thought finished today), we needed quite a few more caches to be able to qualify. This series on our bikes fitted the bill nicely.
A little cold and windy, however, all caches were found in a reasonable timeframe with great coords.
Could see the cache on our approach, due to a few fallen branches.
Thank you crank1 for placing and maintaining this series.

Today the weather beautiful full sunny and I feel like walking to path all the way make me fresh air .. TFTC
The weather forecast looked reasonable for this time of year so I decided to take myself to the bottom end of Eastlink and go caching in the Frankston LGA as I needed more s for a couple of LGA based challenges. After completing that target by mid afternoon, I turned my attention to my secondary target of more s in the Greater Dandenong LGA for the same challenges... and part of the *Thompsons* power trail would be perfect for my needs... 8 s in all.
I parked in a side street east of the Western Port Hwy, crossed it and started west along the shared path. With success at #11 my immediate quest was complete so I could have turned for my car and gone home... but it was still a nice enough afternoon and the traffic was crazy, so I kept on going west... here I was at *the end*... or should I more correctly say *the beginning*. All that was left now was a 4 kilometre walk back to my car...
Thanks **crank1** for this power trail... very handy when you want lots of caches quickly.

My current mission is to be close to 7000 find before the Mega at Easter so with some things to do in Dandenog followed by needing to be in Hampton Park later I thought I would try and grab the numbers 1 to 10 of this series. Finding somewhere to park is the hardest with this series.
A 4.5K walk later I was hot a sweaty but I had a smiley on all 10 caches so I was happy with my afternoons work.
Thank you crank1 for the series

I decided to tackle this series this morning as I was coming to the area to find a Frankston LGA cache and we need to move our centriod south and east. Unfortunately when loading the fold up bike I realised it had a flat tyre. I couldn't get it inflated at a couple of garages so had to take it to a bike shop for a repair. This set me back an hour and by then the trip had gone up by 20 minutes each way, but I still managed to ride the first 18 before hunger and heat struck . I couldn't find 3 on the way up but managed to find one of those on the way back, so 16 of the series today.
Thus one was a quick find, thanks.

Today was our 45th wedding anniversary, and it was Mrs SKI who suggested we hit some of Crank's trails down towards the Peninsula. We haven't done much caching to date this year! A quick look and the realization that this would be a bike ride, but Mrs SKI was still keen. A lovely day for it with temperatures in the low to mid twenties and a slight breeze.
Only one DNF for the day and all caches in good condition and largely straightforward finds. A few challenged us however.. What more could we ask.
We particularly enjoyed the ride round the wetlands area and all the sculptures and appreciated the flat terrain. Not sure how far we rode in total, but it was quite a few km.
Thank you Crank1 for a great day out. We have now completed a number of your series and enjoyed them.
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache crank1.

Out with LuckyL10n who was in Melbourne for a few days so a trip in from Ballarat was the order of the day. Decided on a drive out this way to clean up a few more counties. Took a walk along the bikepath and managed a couple of finds, with this being the first. No issues making the find and our names were soon in the log.
Thanks crank1...a neat hide in the suburbs.

#17211 - 12:13:00 PM; In Melbourne for a few days on family business, but still time for a spot of caching when my old caching compadre made the trip in from Ballarat to visit. Our main objective for the day was to pick up a few more counties south of the border (south for me anyway ). Managed to add five more counties logging 9 caches, with a single DNF. Decided the bike path trail would make for a xcouple of quick finds. No problems here and we were soon on our way again. TFTC crank1
Work arranged itself rather nicely this week giving me a period of six days off. I spent a bit of time working out which direction i wanted to head for caching fun and decided to have another go at Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. I then took quite a while coming up with a list of caches to target, there are just so many possibilities! I packed, had accommodation sorted, and even had a muggle caching buddy lined up to do the driving. Perfect! Too perfect... . Plans changed at the last minute and i came down to the city solo and without the accommodation option. I wasnt sure if i would keep the rest of the plan or head for the hills instead. Time will tell.
A simple cache although i tackled it from the wrong direction and ended up with wet shoes. But hey, its worth it for a smiley.

**Thompsons #1, Sunday 4th Dec**
Up and out early today as I knew it was going to hit 30 degrees by mid-morning. I’d made a plan to target as many around Lyndhurst and Marriott Waters before it got too hot. But being *sans* bicycle or scooter, this foray would have to be on foot. Or drive 160m, jump out of car, find, sign, replace, repeat. But that’s not much fun.
Arriving here around 8:30am, I found a car turnout. I parked and walked to hides #1, 2 & 3 of the Thompson Road trail. Unfortunately I realised this would be way more fun with geo-buddies or at least on a bike. So I saved the rest of your hides in this section for another day.
This hide was relatively easy once I focussed my eyes. Thanks crank1 for all the geocaches today. Really appreciate the huge effort of placing and maintaining for our enjoyment. Cache on
**The Cache:** In great condition. TNLN. Signed log as Let Them Eat Cache, LTEC, or something in between.

Our first task this morning was to walk the Thomsons Road power trail. The weather was ideal for walking - mild temperatures and a slight breeze. Of the 23 caches in the series, we found 21: one we could not find (#11) and there was one (#23) where there was too much water to start a search and we did not have waders with us. In places there was very long grass which slowed down searching.
Unless stated otherwise the coordinates were reasonably accurate and the caches were in good condition.
This cache was a quick find.
Thanks crank1 for another of your cache series.

So today I decided to get brave and attend my first event outside of home territory. It was lovely to meet people and put faces to names, and I survived!
Afterwards Tiz and I joined ranks to tackle Cranks Thompson trail to smash out some numbers to get me closer to 1000. But sometimes, as life should be, it is not about the destination but all about the journey. I had a great day out. Thanks Tiz for our journey today and thanks to Crank for maintaining this series for us all to enjoy

Kbucky and I were getting cocky we guessed GZ from afar and both put the phones away and went in with our Geo sense only... cache located and signed. Most of the GPS CO for this series were spot on. TFTH.
Down in Melbourne for a visit, decided to attempt the trail with the kids while the rest went shopping .

I have been focusing on closing off gaps in my "Finds by Hidden Date" calendar and needed to find a cache that was hidden on 22nd of December.
So as I was searching for caches that would fill this gap, I noticed that the Thompsons series would fill this gap. I had originally been saving this power trail, for when I was going to go for a big number days, so was only going to find one cache in this series today.
Once I got to GZ it was a fairly quick find. However, after I found this cache and headed back to the geomobile, I realised that this one (#1) was actually hidden on the 21st of December and not the 22nd lol. So I had to head back out for another lol.
Thanks for the fun today and TFTC.
Cache Maintenance Status:
The cache container was in good shape, the attachment mechanism still seemed strong and the logbook was clean and dry with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.

Noticed this grouping that would be perfect for a day on the bike.
Cold start but the sun was out so decided to see how many I could find. #1
Parked off Thompsons Rd intending to move the car further north after I had done a section, I ended up just riding them all then back to the car.

Found while out on a biking caching expedition with BernieH.
Our original plan to go to French Island was put on the back burner due to the weather forecast, so plan B was activated, staying a bit closer to home and shelter, should the storms arrive.
This crank1 series filled the bill nicely.
First one with Bernie.

Out for a bit of an eBike ride this morning with gmj3191. Parked near #20 and rode back to the start before starting from #1 and travelling through to #18; I have done the remainer previously.
Most caches were found quickly and in good condition with the exception of the two DNF's.
We noticed a couple of old goats in the paddock, they were watching a couple of old goats riding along the bike track
