We are off to Nelson for Labour Weekend. We slipped this trad into some Adlab WPs along this road. A nice hide. I was thinking of a different type of hide. Thanks for placing this cache and adding to our smilies.
NZ5 and I found the AdLab bonus cache down the road so decided to try this while in the vicinity. Took a while to find the correct type of specimen and then the actual one. Thanks to NZ5s love of climbing we soon identified it!
15 April 2022 11:40. GPS wandered a fair bit but got there in the end. TFTC Sidewaze
I took the round about way to enter the bush just in cache someone was watching... Luckily no water in the ditch. Quick find, TFTC!!
Found with the helpful description. The log was full but managed to squeeze another paper in. The hole was less of a problem than the squadron of mozzies that were guarding gz. Mr NZH needed a blood transfusion afterwards. TFTC
Quick find and sign...then triped up on the fence on the way out...must stay off the phone while walking... Thanx4tc
This one took some rummaging around before I got the cache in my hand. The terrain rating seemed to be higher than advertised, especially if you take a bad step. TFTC.
Nice hide I was checking my GPS and it said that it was a good day to go fishing.
Parked in the likely spot and short walk to it. Cute hide!Tftc

Ah a clever idea! Once I chose the correct side of the creek it was the most likely suspect. Good to be back here for a stroll. TFTC
#19903. As we approached GZ I was wondering whether we'd need to go over the fence, and sure enough we did. Managed to find the cache without tumbling into the creek bed. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ as we travel from Nelson to Brightwater, Wakefield and beyond, (then back again). Our object today is to find the ad labs in the area as well as solved puzzles and anything else that takes our fancy .
This was close to one of the Brightwater Ad Lab WPs so we couldn't not stop (sorry about the double negative). Didn't take long to find the cache once in the right place. TFTC.

Found with NZDi. Mrs Kiwimykl (aka NZDi) had some retail therapy to do which could only be done in Nelson today. We also popped in to see my Mum at the Marsden Cemetary to freshen the flowers on her grave while we were here. It wasn't a lot of shopping, so she got me to look at the geocaching map last night and sort out somewhere to cache this afternoon. Brightwater was somewhere that seemed to have a high proportion of green dots, (just like almost everywhere in the Nelson/Tasman region despite regular visits to this side of the hill). Which is why we are here today. We had no specific targets in mind, but we ended getting a nice round twenty caches, mainly Traditionals, but with the odd Mystery and Multi thrown in as well. Of course we also did the local Adventure Lab cache and its' bonus cache too. Logs were either logged in full, or where space was at a premium, the abridged version of KM + ND was used.
C;geo had me all over the place with this one and I couldn't work out what side of the stream it was on. First I went to the north side, but figured that wasn't right, so I went back over the bridge and tried the south side, but I then thought the north side must be right after all. So I went back over the bridge to the north side. It was then I determined the cache must be on the south side. I also discovered the stream was dry and I could go across it without going over the bridge... duh.
After that it didn't take long to find the cache.

For some reason my GPS was playing up and had me all over the place. I started out over there nearer the road on 3m and then it changed and said I was almost 20m out. A bit of circling and the numbers started coming down and that's when I spotted a likely hint item. Well hidden! Thanks Sidewaze.
No problems here this morning. Although I did find it without realising I had. A second look soon fixed that. TFTC
We both had either end of the cache just from two different sides log signed thanks for the cache
Spotted this as we cruised about, we slowly worked our way to GZ and Niteowlnz had hold of one piece I had hold of the other piece without the and we end up with a little tug-of-war till we realized thanks for the cache. Loved the cache holding idea .
I tried to get it out too . I found it but it is hard and there is tree climbing required
Sir Belac and I went out to get a few caches while SB was here for the holidays. Tftc Sidewaze
GPS acting up on my phone made finding this one a lot harder than it should have however got there in the end. Thanks Sidewaze !!
As usual I hadn't read the description was was a little surprised to see where the GPS lead me. Of course it all makes sense when I finally did read the cache page! Lovely in the bush early this evening with all the birdsong. TFTC # 15,844
There was another cache here (Titoki?) that I found about a year ago, while looking for it I noticed the smell of garlic and realised that there was wild garlic growing all over the place. Not sure if it is not yet that time of the year or if it's just not growing here anymore, but this time I didn't find any garlic, but yes a cache.
A quick find while out and about in the area, took some time to explore the trees which certainly have some character. Cache was still safely anchored so no further black hole journeys. Thanks Sidewaze, all in good order.
As per my previous log for a separate cache, Tregearp and I were on our way out this way for a couple of specific caches but stopped to do this one on the way past. Again, excellent coordinates and the cache was soon found. The new engineering will hopefully prevent reoccurrence - and of course ensuring we replaced as found per instructions. Thanks Sidewaze for the second cache in the day
Your cache is still safe we were out of daylight but got another one logged tftc.
I had no idea what the cache title mean. Later I encountered the same name on a plaque and realised what the CO was going on about here. Except that my memory of this cache is a whiteywood, Melicytus ramiflorus. Shows how good memory is!
Found the Ancient Wonder Hanging Gardens here. That's nicely appropriate!
Taybeedragon and are in Nelson yet again - three objectives this time. Some lab caches, a challenge cache, and hunting down the wonders of the world. With the geocaching app, the wonders are easy - each time we find a cache we removed its wonder from the filter, leaving only wonders we hadn't found yet - made for a nice fast solution.
Oh - and to find a rare cache type. So rare, that in all my 14,000 finds, I had only ever found one other. Now it's two. Modern Wonders found, now working the Ancient.

From Richmond at lunch time we relocated Zara to Brightwater then out and about in Toby for the afternoon. Visiting Alectryon Exelsus and left our calling card. Cheers.
Another weekend exploring Nelson with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby. Early start from Blenheim on Saturday. We are after The Wonders of the World, some LAB caches, also Nanzies Event to visit our caching family and visiting family in Motueka. Cold morning and beautiful days made for an awesome weekend.

We had found the earlier version of this cache before it disappeared into the deep hole, so I knew where to look for this one. To my delight this one was designed to stay where it was put so no worries with retrieving it.
I had signed the log and returned it when I heard footsteps, so I just stood still and the man and dog wandered past without even noticing me. It surprises me how often we have done this and the people just wander on past not looking around them. Still, that saved me trying to explain what I was up to.
Thanks for this cache and thank you for the smiley

We had a stop for this one just before lockdown as we figured we knew where it would be having been first on the previous one. Unfortunately, there was yellow tape up across the paths and we thought it prudent to come back another day once walkways were open again. Today was the day and another quick find was made. tftc
A nice easy hide here after a DNF at the 'old one' that was placed earlier. Easy retrieve and replace and on to go further into the woods. T F T C Sidewaze
A funny long weekend this one was. mrs capperz has headed to the North Island to await the birth of grandchild number 12, yes 12 (with another due in October), and so I was at a 'loose end', yeah right. Also on the agenda is an impending move of us and the household to Auckland, maybe as soon as 4 weeks time, and I have 3 days off work, fuel is not too badly priced at the minute (starting to sound like a Blues Brothers line) so it was a chance to roll down the drive for 3 separate forays into Nelson/Tasman territory to pick off some random caches. Not a 'numbers' trip, more a settling the stats trip. I was keen to make a few more beltfamily cache finds to get to the magical triple figures, plus some unfinished rail business from Marlborough's t S. A weekend of great tramping/walking/caching weather, 3 consecutive days of 20kms walked, nice, and some great scenery.

First find for Tanya, and an easy one for me at this spot where the previous hide went a bit too deep, by the sound of it. TFTC Sidewaze.
I’m in Brightwater staying with a friend for the weekend, and while geocaching was not the reason I am here it is a good chance to grab a few that I find on our travels now that the lockdown has eased enough to allow us to get out there a bit more.

Clever hide, I had to check a few spots first as my botanical knowledge wasn't sufficient!
I disabled my caches during Level 4 lockdown to encourage everyone to do the right thing. Now we’re moving to Level 3 I’m going to leave the decision to search for a cache or not to each individual. Remember you still need to stay in your bubble and a bit of hand sanitiser before and after handling a cache would be appropriate. Keep yourself and others safe.

Mid-afternoon and we decided to head out for a few caches. Three to be exact. We had forgotten exactly where the previous hide was here and wandered around until the phones settled near a likely looking Alectryon excelsus. Lovely sunny afternoon to be wandering around in circles.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I remember the other cache that was here. Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching
Found on my way home from work. Had a little help from Alexis..photo enclosed. Fave for me TFTC
All good. A timely reminder that it's time I rechecked reserve closures . They're all open .
I've stopped here more times in the past few months than I'd ever done in many years beforehand.
Back once again today to get another smiley for the date to nudge me closer to my 4+ a day target.
As part of ensuring I'd returned the cache appropriately I spied something of interest to the CO - I've messaged them about that.
Thanks Sidewaze

Oops the data on my GPS is a couple of weeks out of date so I didn't know this was disabled although I didn't see any signs about the reserve being closed or I would have left it for another time. GPS was jumping around so recalibrated the compass and it then took me straight to the cache about 20 metres from where it had been. Thanks Sidewaze

No sign of any signs today so I stopped for the park and get at a familiar GZ.

We planned a day to grab some of the newer caches and combine it with some cache maintenance.
We didn't get to find the first hide here so thought we should make more of an effort to look for this one. Despite being under tree cover the GPS insisted on a particular spot and as far as I could see there was only one place it could be. Lacking the physical attributes to have a clear look I followed the mantra from the 'yellow pages' and let my fingers do the walking. In no time at all I knew I had "hooked the big one" but like fishing it took some patience before I landed it.
After signing the log Hazedarus returned it from whence it came.
Thank you Sidewaze.

We had this and a few other caches on the list when we returned from a few days away. Being hot and bothered we flagged it after 4 hours driving. With some cache maintenance due we bundled that with the old to-do list and had a wonderful day. In search for its predecessor we were already on first name basis with some of the Alectryon Excelsuses (?sp). When my phone went on strike I returned to the car for the GPS but shouldn't have worried. I did return the cache to its hiding place though. Nice one! Thank you sidewaze
FTF I noticed this cache when it was published yesterday but as I'd already had a full day out caching already, I didn't immediately rush out to find it. This morning I took a bit of a detour on my way to the shops and headed out to find it. A familiar spot from the previous cache here so it didn't take long to find the clever cache construction here. TFTC, Biggles.
