We were in Tasmania for Christmas and New Year and thoroughly enjoyed our time travelling from Hobart, up the east coast, up to Bridport and across to Cradle Mountain in a motorhome. It was a gamble with 17 and 12 year old boys in such a small space, but it worked out well.
We took a detour here from Sheffield where we enjoyed the murals and quirky collectables shop. We were really hoping that the recent rain had tipped the water level over enough to witness the dam spilling, but we were out of luck.
Cache found easily and in the absence of muggles. Thank you

TFTC cache in good condition thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for enjoyment.

While visiting Sheffield for a few days we decided to go out exploring the local area.
We found this cache while out and about.
I would hate to be the worker who has to walk down all those stairs if work needs doing at the bottom of the dam wall.
The cache took a bit of searching for but once I got down at the right angle I saw it.

Took a little longer than it probably should've. Tftc

Took a fair old look but got there eventually. Lol. Tftc

I had a day caching in the Sheffield / Devonport / Latrobe area after dropping off a friend to do a camera course in Sheffield. Only one thing that needed to happen was a quick drop into the Devonport airport office to fix a small internet issue. The day was overcast with occasional showers, although some showers were heavier with some ice in them.

All logs were signed July 22 as I forgot the date at the start of the day and continued this way throughout (and for those people checking, I will log all for todays date on the web site)

What a great place for a cache. Took me a minute to find as it was fairly wet and I didn’t want to put a knee down.

Tftc.

Out and about with Tassie Trekkers collecting new caches that have appeared since our last visit to this area. A great day to be out and about. Happy Easter. A great spot for a cache. TFTC

While out and about today with whitewebbs we found a few caches on the way and this was one of them.

Our GPS pointed to the new ramp but found the cache in the corner of the concrete. Cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

With GeoMaggie2 on a non caching day, so, third bonus for the day. Found, stamped and replaced, with Maggie and Mollie, my GeoWesties, while roaming around Tasmania with our motorhome “Mylittlebus” looking for content for our TASMANIA ALL OVER facebook. Join us there. Thanks for placing this cache (and others), keeping us on our exploring toes.

Hi keepy2004.....picked a great day to visit this cache after all the recent rain.
On approaching gz could hear a thunderous roar from the huge volume of water spilling.
Quite a spectacular sight.
Cache and log are in top condition.
Many tftc...awesome...cheers ST.

A quick find today as we walked down to check out what we knew was a currently overflowing dam. The water going over was quite brown but still a spectacular sight.
Last time we were here the pedestrian gate was locked so we had no opportunity to search for this one. Good to finally cross it off the list.
Thanks.

Beautiful calm morning with a bit of mist on the dam too bad the find was in the shade

07-Jul-21
Such a lovely crisp frosty morning with clear sunny skies and no wind. So we're off on a little caching expedition with newbie cacher daughter to lift her tally and add some more to ours. Having logged another cache at Barrington, this was the obvious second stop for the day. Bit chilly down here, but a quick find by Mrs rhubarbroad had us back in sunshine quickly and on the road for coffees at Mountain Mumma. TFTC keepy2004.

Managed to get down here today. The gate is open and the cache is ready to find

05-Jun-21
I am going to go and see if the the public can get to the viewing area sometime this week.

17-Apr-21
The future of this cache is still a bit foggy. The fence has been erected as a result of some recent break ins to the power station.

04-Mar-21
Unfortunately there has been a yellow gate erected prior to the lookout because of some recent damage. I am unaware of how long the gate will be there, so we will see what happens.

03-Mar-21
Could access this as there is a big yellow gate and barbed wire fence about 150m from the GZ Sad unsure if we just got it on a day that it's closed or maybe you can no longer access the area

06-Jan-21
Found this one the other day i forgot to log it then. but a quick find with DEZ055

Found by the geokid. We visited here last year and went on an inside tour of the power station below which was interesting. Tftc

I was surprised I had never been here before but today there was no one around and made it for a nice and easy find, that’s one big wall though.

Today I set out to clean up some caches I had missed up in the Mersey valley and central coast area as well as visiting some new locations, with the mtb in the car it made it easier to get to some places to reduce the longer walks. Seems like I am cooking up to this area every few days lately.
A nice day out with just over 20 finds.

After a walk at Turners Beach and finding a cache in Custom Reserve we found that there was another cache nearby calling to be found. So off we went to Devils Gate. As we approached we noted that there were several work vehicles parked in the gate way so we parked at the lookout and walked in.

After a chat with the workers who were clearing up the remains of a landslip we continued on to the hide. Our GPS was bouncing around so we used our cachers sense and soon had located the tin. The container and contents were in very good condition.

Thanks for this cache keepy2004. We remember finding a cache on one of the signs early in our caching life. It is a place well worth a cache as the towering cliffs are spectacular even on dull days like today and the view across the lake is ever changing.

18-Apr-20
The dam viewing area is now open to the public.

17-Apr-20
Cache is still there and ready to find

22-Mar-20
Second to find TFTC

09-Mar-20
Woohoo! What a great hide. With a {FTF} available close-ish to home, all thoughts of housework went out the window. Loaded up the geodogs & headed out to find it. It was a beautiful day to be by the dam, which MrCoder had been lucky enough to go for a tour through last year.
Thanks for placing this cache. It earns a favourite point from us
