Having dropped Mrs Msc20 at the airport, I meandered my way back to the Tron picking off a number of nearby caches en route.I've driven past here many times in the past couple of years but never had the opportunity or taken the time to stop.Well, I put that right today. There's no chance of the chimney wandering off with that fence to keep it in place! Thanks eyespyben#5490
A wet day around Taupiri saw rattll and I head to this reserve next to the expressway. Rattll went one way, I the other, and she made the find.. All well. Signed and returned as found. Tftc!
After attending the MCC's farewell event, we thought we'd do this little trail. It's one we've meant to stop for many times but just hadn't gotten around to it until today. The rain started just as we arrived, so we enjoyed a coffee in the van while waiting for it to pass. Once the skies brightened, we headed out. matagouri told me the history of who lived here. A great bit of history. Thanks for putting a cache here.

Night adventure with Bear2024Cache #12 for the nightVery obvious for a cacher, however blended in really well for a muggleTFTC
A quick find at an old relic. I bet some stories was told around it in the past. Would love some history on it. TFTC
I wanted to make a stop on the way home from Auckland today, and figured 5 caches would be a good excuse to finally stop at the reserve that I've driven past however many times. I'd definitely be interested to know what this is the remains of, before the expressway went in this would have been a nice, and peaceful spot to live, I even saw a couple of goats still enjoying it as a spot to live shortly after retrieving the cache. TFTC
Fifth and final find for the day, glad to finish off this little trail before we carry on South. This one was a nice easy find, but unfortunately the log was soaked, so we've attached a photo of the log as proof. TFTC!
It was a quick stop and brisk walk as we headed south. Soon had the cache in hand and signed before rushing back to the car as we were running late.
While on my way to pick up my daughter's in Hamilton I came across this nice grouping of caches which I thought I had time to pick up. A perfect opportunity to park up and have a quick walk. There was four possibilities at this GZ. A simple process of elimination worked well to find this one. TFTC
We have often driven past here and thought about stopping to collect these caches. Today we decided to drive and try them out. The motorway had been pretty busy and its a hot day so we were more than happy to get out of the car. A nice quick find. Our first at this scientific reserve.
What a place to put a chimney. Great view. Emptied the water from the cache and replaced. Thanks for the cache mccutchan clan.
I needed to stretch my legs (or at least that’s the excuse I have to the rest of the family to go after this cache). Quickly spotted as I got to gz. TFTC
This was a quick find thanks to the good clue. Nice little walk and we enjoyed the history lesson. Cache is all good. TFTC
The guardian skins allowed me to make a nice quick grab for this. Waht a strange place for a chimney. It's started spitting bow so a mad dash for my last one on the way back to the car. TFTC
I'm on a week's annual leave, choosing to spend time traveling north to visit and reconnect with a few friends up here, and naturally that also gives me an opportunity to do some caching up this way again. But all good things must come to an end, and so today is day 7 which is the big drive back south again.
I've stopped close by here before but never taken the time to go much further into this reserve. But this morning the sun was shining and I had time so thought "why not?"
This would be the last one on this little walk today, but at least it proved to be a quick find thanks to the helpful Hint. Shame that the container had some water in it, but with the log being waterproof paper that was no real issue.
So with the log signed I was able to replace it all as found and finally be on my way again.
Thanks for placing this one.

Usually we are on a mission to reach a southern destination, as we drive passed this Scientific Reserve, but today we had time to stop and explore the reserve and locate the caches.
A quick find here by the chimney, and we were soon heading back to our car and continuing on with our journey south. TFTC

Finally wasn't in a rush to get home today so pulled off here to explore this area and pick up a few caches.
Thanks for placing the caches. Gave me reason to take a driving break and stretch the legs.

Having dropped daughter of at Auckland airport it was time to head south to Wellington. A few points of interest stops on the way and this was one of them. A quick find and sign. Whole place to myself this morning. Thanks for the cache.
Wandering through the Scientific Reserve late on a very wintery winter's afternoon. It would be interesting to learn a bit more of the history of what once surrounded this chimney. We had a nice quick find here, which was just what we needed given the hour and weather.
Left the muggles behind - just too slow - and trotted off to find this cache - ah the history. T4tc
I really enjoy when you find something that remains of an old building left in an area, with nature reclaiming the rest of the site.
It was a really nice walk around here this morning, and if it wasn't for the distant sound of the motorway you could be just about anywhere.
A nice quick find although GZ was a bit squelchy.

What a random place for a chimney, but cool they left it here. We love seeing various derelict places (eg old sheds). Nice walkway will have to remember this one for in the daytime
Well I thought this would be easy but came up empty. By luck I saw it in a different spot. Put it back where it look like where it should of been. Tftc
Heading to Morrinsville and stopped to see how many of these caches we could pick up. Managed to do them all. Four corners to check for this one, so unsurprisingly it was in the fourth one I checked! #4717. TFTC.
Great place for a lunchtime stroll. Path needs a bit of weeding though else will get overgrown. Nice series. Thanks.
Nobody around so made a nice quick find. Pity this walkway is turning very weedy. Needs a bit of TLC. Lovely today with the flax flowering & birds chirping. TFTC
Not sure that going for a walk on such a hot day was a good idea so relieved to soon have the cache in hand. The cache must have been wet as the log had dried into a solid lump, so a strip of waterproof paper served as the replacement log. TFTC
It has been a long time since Team SEAC did a numbers day, so we jumped on the chance to join when Keylev initiated this day. We started at 8 am and got home around 11 pm, and attempted most caches in Cambridge, Te Awamutu and finishing with a night cache in Huntly.
As we headed South, Mrs HeMaLuDy remembered this series of caches that have been on our radar for a while. We had previously found the cache in the carpark, but the rain was too heavy to carry on that day. Today we decided to stop, and wander to grab the other caches here. This was a nice easy find with so many pairs of eyes searching. I wonder what the rest of the structure here looked like, the ruins are still standing tall. Time to head back to the road and carry on.

My first full day with Team SEAC! Very excited and a little intimidated! Very fun!
Quick find! Tftc for all the caches in the area! Tftc

Like the Willy Nelson song, Team SEAC were On The Road Again. It had been quite a while since we had gathered to go on a road trip, so a trip to Cambridge was organised to clear out that town. All logs signed as S.E.A.C to preserve log space.
As we approached GZ, a few of us decided to go in and look for the cache. As we approached, a suspicious object was spotted. Yes indeed, this was hiding the cache.

A number of Team SEAC banded together for a road trip day out targeting Cambridge and surrounds and ending up with a night cache. As per usual there were laughs, dramas, cache finding and a generally fun day!
What an interesting structure to find here in a reserve off the motorway...all a bit odd. Nevertheless we soon had the cache in hand, log signed and we were on our way.
Thanks for the cache.

It had been quite a while since Team SEAC had been on a caching road trip together so a plan was hatched for a day trip to clear out Cambridge. It was a long but fun day, as we cleared out Te Awamutu as well, with the promise of not leaving it so long before our next roadie. All caches were signed SEAC to save space.
As we were driving Southbound it made sense to stop at the Scientific Reserve to grab the short series. This was find #5 for the day. I love finding old ruins. TFTC!

Had some spare time when heading past here today so I thought I'd better stop and give these caches a go. Headed to the end and cached back to the car, managed to avoid the rain also so a bonus there.
A simple find here.

Found this today with Xmasbabe and frog93. Nice walk here before the rain, TFTC
Out for the afternoon with a friend and my daughter and the dog to collect a few caches. Lovely walk managed to dodge the rain. Nice hide. Thanks
My mission today was to drive from Auckland to Wellington via Taranaki. My two objectives were to find enough caches to crack 18,000 finds and to find enough caches in Taranaki to knock off another district towards a challenge cache in Nelson. I wonder what stories this chimney could tell. The cache was quite exposed so I tried to cover it a bit better. TFTC, Biggles.
I was sneazing by here -allergies from the grass cutting that had gone on in the area over the last week. luckily only one prickle in my thumb as I retrieved the cache, and could be on my way again
Easily found. I think it might be the house of Rua? Don't miss the seat looking over the lake, and there's some wonderful figs too in the right season. Tftc.

Dropped off child to Grandparents on the return journey it is just me and my dog. Perfect I can stop wherever I want. I have had my eye on this walk for some time now. When we go past we are normally on a mission to get home. Have not logged a cache for some years now time to get back into it.
Interesting structure in the middle of nowhere i wonder what it's stories are?
Found cache with ease. Whew after a DNF on the last cache. Tftc. Spur of the moment that I can do caching so didn't have a pen took pictures of log instead.

A pleasant walk, even through the driving rain. It's amazing how often you come across places like this that used to be a home and now are virtually gone. TFTC.
Driving south and decided to stop here for a break and a walk. Lovely walk. Nice and easy find. Thanks for the cache.
Stopped by here on our way back to Rotorua after a weekend in Auckland visiting family. Quickly found this cache and onto the next TFTC.
This cache was a great encouragement to keep following the path. I’m sure the butt & legs appreciated the walk to break up the long drive. We just managed to make the 2km loop return before the rain came. Wonder what the former building attached to the chimney looked like & when it disappeared... TFTC!
A good place to stop when heading south from the big smoke. Will be good when the trees grow bigger.
No problem here with not wasps or other dodgy creatures. Soon had the formalities done
#678 Mr and Mrs Northwood had not driven the Huntly bypass yet and spotted the new group of caches in this area so decided to spend the morning making the drive and finding some caches.
Very interesting place, did a bit of reading on the development and wildlife that is coming back when we got home. And it was slightly strange to come along the remains of this house. Been there a lot time. Quick search and it was in hand.

Another cache grab on my way down to Hamilton. Interesting remnant of the building. The brickwork still looks like it is in good shape. TFTC.
Interesting spot to stop. Ended up sitting on nearby seat enjoying the view of the birds on the water. Thanks
Apologies for the late logs. Went for a quick walk to find these at 1am. Funnily enough, noone in the area made for some quick finds
TFTC McCutchan Cache Clan, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 3 today, making this find #2182

Driving through to Te Awamutu for work. Decided a quick break was in order.
Parked up and there was one other car in the car park so had to wander down the track and start with the other caches down here
The light drizzle was starting to get a bit MORE heavier!!
Quickly found the cache and the log signed. Noted that someone else had also found this cache today and was wandering if it was them I had seen parked in the car park.

After finding the cache we tried to imagine how this area would have looked when this structure was still standing. An interesting historical curiosity and a great place to end our walk.
Looks like the track is in the process of being extended so we look forward to returning soon to see what else this amazing area has to offer. TFTC.

What a cool little wander this is! Even the "I don't want another walk" geokids enjoyed it! Lovely to do it at sunset, pretty clouds tonight. TFTC!
Met up with some of the team for a Waikato caching trip.
No real plan set out so we attached the cache we thought would take the longest.
Sure enough a couple of hours later we had completed our history lesson for the day. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), the nieces, and the dog - Another drive into the Waikato to round up whatever hides we can within the timeframe we have to work with...
A delayed start, but at least the journey was pleasant... After circling through the Ohinewai Interchange, we switched back onto the Waikato Expressway... This new road is amazing!
We were pleased that there was room in the reserve for one more cache. We enjoyed walking out to this furthermost point, and the old structure must have its own story to tell. A quick find... Thanks McCutchan Cache Clan and TFTC.

Found ... Mrs McMike2012 thought that we should drive down to the 'Tron' & visit the Botanical Gardens for a bit of a walk ... drove over the new motorway & decided to stop here for a look-see ... oh! there are caches here ... this one was an easy find, so log completed & returned without incident ... always interesting to think about the lives of the families that originally lived where there are old ruins & what there lives must have been like ... met a couple of other catchers here, twf & psychrn, had a bit of a natter before heading off to find a couple more at this general location ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #1,698 for us.
Awesome spot. I love to find abandon buildings, a reminder of the abandon buildings around our childhood farmhouse. Worth a Favourite.
Nice easy find though it was well buried. End of a lovely morning stroll where we found all but one.
We walked to the far end of the walkway and cached our way back to the car. Quite interesting to find just a chimney here.
Find number 6854. Another plan by Boges to get out and clear these caches in case there is a covid lock down. This was the last in this reserve. Pity there was no signange to say what this was all about. We listened to the news as we drove off and heard that the country had been raised to level 3 so this may be the last geocaching trip for a little time. Thank you for the placement.
On the journey north with Hairy KGD to get the series by the new express way. After heading north it was south and this was the last one to find in the park. No idea why its call Scientific Reserve. tftc. We heard of the virus lock dow2n on the way home so this could be the last one for awhile
Heading out with Mrs Dragon for an early morning drive along the express way (heading south) but a few out lying caches along the way.
Nice new reserve and a very easy walk to the end and back, all caches still in good nick
Well now that we are all in lockdown its a chance to catch up on the logging that I have been dutifully ignoring for the past several months. Thanks to all the cache owners that placed these out there
Thanks for the cache, thanks for the placement
