After attending the MCC's farewell event, we thought we'd do this little trail. It's one we've meant to stop for many times but just hadn't gotten around to it until today. The rain started just as we arrived, so we enjoyed a coffee in the van while waiting for it to pass. Once the skies brightened, we headed out. This one was only 10mts away from where we were parked, so matagouri grabbed it while I was still getting my raincoat on.Thanks for putting this here

As its a public holiday tomorrow in our region there was no hurry to get home so we pulled in here to walk this walkway that Ive always looked longingly at as we zoom past every time. Mr Muggle spotted this wee thing just sitting there doing its thang while I was looking in all the wrong places. TFTC

10-Mar-24
spotted this nano sized gem from a metre away [8]

08-Mar-24
I wanted to make a stop on the way home from Auckland today, and figured 5 caches would be a good excuse to finally stop at the reserve that I've driven past however many times. I starred right at this one before I realised what I was looking at, might be time to get some new glasses. TFTC

25-Feb-24
Second day in New Zealand and it's a wet one. Only having 5 days means we have to go caching hail rain or shine. Quick find here.TFTC Wilbert67

While on my way to pick up my daughter's in Hamilton I came across this nice grouping of caches which I thought I had time to pick up. A perfect opportunity to park up and have a quick walk. This one was a quick find which is always a bonus. TFTC

23-Dec-23
We have often driven past here and thought about stopping to collect these caches. Today we decided to drive and try them out. The motorway had been pretty busy and its a hot day so we were more than happy to get out of the car. Our last find at the reserve this afternoon. A nice quick find. Despite the muggles.

18-Dec-23
Quick find on our way to the Temple Lights. Tftc.

Day 14: South to TaumarunuiTodays journey took us from Auckland down to Taumarunui as part of the first leg of our journey to New Plymouth via the Forgotten World Highway. We ventured out to Raglan as a little detour on the way to visit the Bridal Veil Falls / Waireinga as well. The day on the road was long but we enjoyed sunny skies and lovely caches all along the way and many a historic and scenic place. (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:Short stopover on the expressway here, and another quick cache picked up before heading on to explore a little bit of the reserve. I was curious about the totem carvings on the hillside earlier and my questions were answered - go figures. TFTC!

26-Aug-23
Stopped here to grab one of the ad labs. Didn’t even realised there were caches here till we were just about to go. Didn’t take too long to find this tiny cache. Tftc

25-Aug-23
On a trip down country to help out my ageing mother with some cleaning up, and I just had to grab this cache, it was a matter of revenge. The last time I came here to collect caches, this one was missing, so this was one rare opportunity to turn that frown upside down.

I pulled over in the parking area and double-checked where this cache was hidden. Then I went to complete the Waikato Expressway AdLab, also at this location and only needed this stage to complete the whole AdLab. Upon returning it was time to grab this cache. I proceeded to GZ and soon spotted where it was hiding, With the cache and log retrieved, I moved away a bit to sign the log. Once screwed back in, I was replacing the cache when a car drove in right past me. Not sure what the driver thought, if they saw me at all, but I hope I looked like I was tying my shoelaces.

How many times have we driven past & said to each other "we must do the caches in this reserve... " so today we did! This was a quick find thanks to the good clue. However the log was sodden and disintegrated as we opened it. So sorry we didn't have a spare log but we cut a strip of waterproof paper and fitted it in so the cache is good for now. TFTC

04-Jul-23
It took a bit of finding as it is so tiny.
The clue made sense too in the end.
Log is sodden..
Thanks for showing me the area...

Stopped in the rain on the way south (so no muggles around), found the cache, ran back to the car to sign the log in the dry, then ran back in the rain to reinstate the cache. Pleased to turn a blue frown into a gold smile. TFTC

27-Feb-23
Quick pick up on the way to Hamilton, was running late after stopping at another cache.

Despite the darkness, managed to snag this one. Hope to pick up the others the next time im southbound.

Very clever cache. Great spot. Drive past often and wondered what the scientific reserve was like, now we know!! Thanks

17-Jan-23
Camping in Huntly for a few days before attending 18@18 event. Took a short drive north, so I could come south, to have a look at this area that I've only driven past before.
Enjoyed the walk but in the end it was a bit hot and I didn't have the 'umph' to find all the cashes. I will be back, and make sure I have time for a good search.

However I did find this one, after the walk. There had been a group of bikers too close, when I had arrived. TFTC

15-Jan-23
I’ll try again next time

14-Jan-23
Found it! Almost escaped us haha. It’s not quite were I thought it would be but it was clever.

We managed to find the first three caches at this stop. Next time we will aim for the last two!

We couldn’t remove the log unfortunately we it seems like it had fallen apart so we just left it.

04-Jan-23
Driving through the expressway from Auckland to Hamilton, we decided to stop for a short walk and check for caches. This one was a quick and easy find, however we couldn’t open it, it was done up too tightly. FMZ went back to the car to get some tools, but we still couldn’t open it. Took a photo as proof instead. Thanks for the cache.

03-Jan-23
Stopped here on our way south, with jagersmum and jager. Made a quick find here but struggled to open it until I grabbed some tools from the car. The logbook did not want to come out though, see jagersmum's pic. TFTC

16-Dec-22
Over thought this for a while.

02-Oct-22
I'm on a week's annual leave, choosing to spend time traveling north to visit and reconnect with a few friends up here, and naturally that also gives me an opportunity to do some caching up this way again. But all good things must come to an end, and so today is day 7 which is the big drive back south again.

I've stopped by this location a couple of times in the past, and each time have failed to find this cache. Today it was almost an instantaneous find. Funny how that happens! But the log is soaked, and I didn't event try to remove it as it would have damaged it severely. So took a photo of the find as evidence if required before replacing it all back as found.

Thanks for placing this one.

02-Oct-22
Logbook looked damp so didn’t remove. First cache on the Auckland to Wellington road trip. Tftc

03-Sep-22
Usually we are on a mission to reach a southern destination, as we drive passed this Scientific Reserve, but today we had time to stop and explore the reserve and locate the caches.
An early morning start and the carpark was empty, so we had no trouble locating this tiny cache. TFTC

21-Aug-22
Finally wasn't in a rush to get home today so pulled off here to explore this area and pick up a few caches.
Found this quickly without the need for the hint.
Not a great place for a cache imo.
Just as my head was down extracting the cache a car came through at full speed, bumped over the judder bars and continued down the highway. I've always hated barrier caches as they are too close to traffic and dangerous and this just proved it, not to mention the barrier had already been hit just where the cache is.

07-Aug-22
We searched for a little bit confused here then duh! Found it. Nice little break in our trip.
Thanks for placing the cache eyespyben.
Find number 4628.
Log signed b&p.

Having dropped daughter of at Auckland airport it was time to head south to Wellington. A few points of interest stops on the way and this was one of them. A quick find and nicely hidden. Thanks for the cache.

15-Jul-22
Wow - so cute. Thanks for the stop

13-Jul-22
Wandering through the Scientific Reserve late on a very wintery winter's afternoon. When we pulled into the Scientific reserve carpark there was a truck getting a tyre changed in full view of this GZ. So we decided to make it our last, rather than first find here. We will blame it on our very chilled state by the time we returned from the rest of the caches, but this one took way too long to find. We were almost ready to give up just before one of us spotted the cache. TFTC

09-Jul-22
Finally in a vehicle where I can request a stop to grab a cache or three! Had a very nice walk around thanks

21-Jun-22
Maplerose is back in the country for a couple of weeks and suggested we had a meet up, so I'm heading south to Turangi for a couple of days. We DNF on this at Christmas so glad it has been replaced. Pulled in and there were a couple of vehicles and a lorry parked, but nobody seemed to notice me. A quick find.

19-Jun-22
This one took us a wee while as some other similar structures were nearby that are often hidey places. Lucky R checked back over where id looked as he looked a lot better than me. Sneaky sneaky

22-May-22
Heading back from Pokeno. So was the right time to stop and do the walk here. Just me here today so was a quick easy grab. Tftc

Good start to a wee adventure! Cache #101. Ttfc ️

18-Apr-22
A couple of weeks back had noticed the 18th @ 18 event being held in Hamilton on a public holiday and thought it would be a good excuse to head down for the day. We (Mr NZTravellers, NZIceman and I) started a little later than planned due to new local publications which needed the ‘patch defending’. After a quick coffee at home we set off.

Have attempted this one before with no luck as it had gone wok about a so was happy to turn the blue frown into a nice yellow smile.

Thanks for the cache.

03-Feb-22
Handy rest stop. Pity trucks like to take up all the spaces.

25-Jan-22
On way to the PWGT, stopped here to do calcs, and walk the dog. A bit busy, but a good spot for a break.

24-Jan-22
Stopped here for Juty Bug to get a WP for an AdLab. I noticed this cache here also but then my phone died. Meanwhile JB had been to GZ and returned to say he couldn't see it. Easy find. Bit hard to extract the new log, but got there eventually.
All good. TFTC

23-Jan-22
Quick find on my way back to Hamilton, after being to the Mega. Thanks for the cache.

Like the Willy Nelson song, Team SEAC were On The Road Again. It had been quite a while since we had gathered to go on a road trip, so a trip to Cambridge was organised to clear out that town.

We were tottling on down SH1 when the convoy pulled over into the scientific reserve. As this is only accessible heading south, an executive decision was made by the lead car to grab these caches. Nobody else complained.

As this cache was right next to the parking, it was the first to be hit. With six pairs of eyes looking for it and six pairs of hands feeling for it, it could not be found, so onto the rest of the caches around here.

31-Jul-21
A number of Team SEAC banded together for a road trip day out targeting Cambridge and surrounds and ending up with a night cache. As per usual there were laughs, dramas, cache finding and a generally fun day!

This was the first of the day which had not been in the plan but as we were heading in the right direction we just had to stop.

Unfortunately even with a previous finder in the crew there was no luck today Sad

31-Jul-21
Sorry but couldn't find it

25-Jul-21
Had some spare time when heading past here today so I thought I'd better stop and give these caches a go. Headed to the end and cached back to the car, managed to avoid the rain also so a bonus there.
Nicely hidden cache, checked a few spots before the hint made sense and the cache was retrieved. Thanks for the hide.
