Lovely spot, came here after finding a nearby cache TFTC so fun found lots of crabs
Came here after finding the nearby sneaky traditional cache.Such a lovely spot!TFTEC
Came to this are to pick something up I bought off marketplace. But while Im here Id better check out the closest caches. A stunning piece of coastline and with a fascinating piece of geology on display. Cool to be able to visibly see the fault line. TFTC!
We made the trek from Brighton caravan park to the coastal walk. The scenery is fabulous. Unfortunately the track is interrupted, but should be nice when its finished. We went on to the rocks and studied the cliffs and questions , before making our return journey back.We were going to walk to the train station, and get a train back to Brighton. Industrial action today, so foot power it was. A nice morning walk. Thanks Freddo for our entertainment
According to Google I have lived for 21 leap years + but how many more we do not know but the SA Leap Forward Mega has been and gone and what a great event. Our very lofty goal, completing a full D/T Matrix on a leap day. The G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, JTreeTrack2, Neville_Devil, Quickhealer2 and Sims-family) have descended on Adelaide with some seriously caching goals as our sole objective, to be achieved at the expense of almost everything else (including sleep). We have to say a great big thanks to all the cache owners for looking after these caches for us to find. The hire cars had a big work out with all the gear and TOOLS that we thought we may require. We have decided to target as many of Project-GCs Leap Day badge extensions as possible, with the primary objective of completing a fizzy grid in a day.One of my first Megas was in SA in I think 2014 ( Murray Bridge) but as there, just so many caches of most D/T combos it made sense to target this Mega. We had a list of solved caches that gave a great starting point for our assault but distance was also a problem but I think we made our objective irrespective a great time was had even if we do not make our objective. Thanks to Freddo for placing this cache and keeping it on the playing field.
Hi Freddo, We found your 2.0 2.0 Other EarthCache The Whole Thing Is Faulty on 9/3/2024.Find 2854 for BFMC.This is they type of spots I would have loved to visit when I was deeply embedded in shooting ling exposure seascape photography. Almost enough to consider blowing the inch of dust off the camera. The G-Crew have descended on Adelaide with some seriously lofty caching goals as our sole objective, to be achieved at the expense of almost everything else (including sleep). With a minivan loaded with Cachers & TOTTs hopefully time is the only thing that stands in our wayWith 2024 presenting us with a leap day, we have decided to target as many of project-gcs Leap Day badge extensions as possible, with the primary objective of completing a fizzy grid in a day. SA became the logical choice due to the Mega event and the fertile, largely uncached grounds it provides for our team. Many months of planning and puzzle solving (from the simple to downright diabolical) have gone into this trip. Our selected matrix has evolved over time to account for other ongoing objectives. Fortunately, I had a reasonable list of solved but unfound puzzles from my last trip to the Tour Down Under a few years ago but the many, many hours, and many more group chat messages since we started planning this in 2023 have brought us to this point. All physical caches were either stamped or signed as G-CREW to save both time and log space. Thanks to all the COs who have placed and maintained these caches!
Veni, Vidi, ViciHaving finally unlocked premium, its time to catch up on logs. Visiting Adelaide with the Gcrew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, Jtreetrack2, Neville_Devil, Quickhealer2 and SimsFamily) for a mega adventure. Thanks to all the Cache Owners for their caches, we had a very busy, but very enjoyable couple of days in Adelaide and surrounds targeting a D/T loop in a day and whatever other caches took our fancy. No rest for the wicked on this trip.
I took my first ever trip on a plane to Adelaide to cache with G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, Jtreetrack2, Quickhealer2 and SimsFamily) for a mega leap day adventure. After months of planning and puzzle solving we hired a minivan and set off on a mission to find as many caches as we could on our leap day adventure with the main goal of completing a Dt loop in a day. We started off by working our way down to Victor Harbour via the coast, then worked our way back to Adelaide via the inland route chasing different types, sizes, JASMER's, unusal D/T's, earthcaches, virtuals and more. Thanks to all the CO's who have placed and maintained all of the caches we found on this trip, I had a great time.
Hey there, G-Crew decended onto to Adelaide to take on the lofty task of completing a full D/T Matrix loop on a single day, and we managed to do so!Our team consisted of Dromaniax, BFMC, Bushfire, JTreeTrack2, Sims_Family, Neville_Devil and myself Quickhealer2Thank you for maintaining this Earthcache, all answers were sent by one of our team members, and we had a blast finding the answers to itThanks again from Colin, Ben, Laurie, Andrew, Eddy, Neville and Emily
Well the big day is here, we are finally in Adelaide after weeks of planning . The G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, JTreeTrack2, Neville_devil, Quickhealer2 and Sims-family) has some pretty intense goals that requires a very long day and no sleep to achieve. The last few weeks the message group has been awash with many many messages as we worked though all the puzzles in order to achieve our main goal of a full D/T loop in a day.We loaded the Hyundai Staria (Was meant to be a KIA Carnival, Not an upgrade ) with all the ToTTs we though or hoped we would need in order to achieve our goals. All logs were signed or stamped with the G-Crew name to safe time and space in the logs.Thank you all the CO's for the contributions and ongoing maintenance. We had a blast and sorry for the generic log but with so many logs to write I'll never catch up if I don't.Answers have been sent by one of the members of G-Crew
Out for a weekend in and around the Colo River with The Rats and Hoojar to find plenty of caches- a fair bit of legwork needed beforehand though. Some enjoyable country.TFTC!
TFTC! 27 February 2024 8:55:51pm 7993 thanks to Freddo for the cache! Off to the Great Leap Tear Mega in Adelaide. A stop off along the way! This one I really struggled with. Im not great at angles at the best of times and apologies for being a bad student! I even had my daily call with my other half who is in Europe at the same time. I even used the call as a PAF on video to try and answer this Earthcache. Loved this area for the sunset, and after a long day of caching, hot weather, great ro put my feet in the water.
Came down here chasing a faulty earth cache and was rewarded with an almost muggle free area! Pretty rare on NYE. Answers sent to the best of my blunt tools TFTEC
I walked past Marino Rocks yesterday on my way to Kingston Park and investigated this earthcache.
This is a very interesting area.
Thanks for this earthcache.

Found with Bektheraccoon for the Signal's Labrynth souvenirs. Very nice spot, thanks for bringing us here.
Moxie and I met Jambochicken down at the beach and we had an evening of caching together. Spent some time discussing the geological features here and jambochicken is sending in our answers. TFTC Freddo
After lingering on a deserted beach with the pretext of an EC, we arrived at a rocky one. Interesting set of geology by the sea, it deserves an EC to understand the rock formation on that spot.
The terrain was examined and photos token.
Answers sent & photo to follow.
Thank you Freddo for this earthcache, we liked the diversity of landscapes.

Wasn’t too sure if I was looking at the right parts but it looked like the sketch! It’s very nice spot down here, it’s amazing how many spots I find through caching that I have never been to, even though I’ve lived in Adelaide my whole life! Thanks for bringing me here this morning Freddo
On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird, Liz & Bruce. Another great day for caching. TFTC Freddo

Thanks for arranging this earthcache. A spectacular location. Good to be having a look around the area. Caching with Wollaston and SeasonedBird. Answers collected jointly and will be forwarded by SeasonedBird. Fav point alloc
I couldn’t find fault with this earth cache today no matter what angle I stood and looked at it from. TFTC
It’s normally all Skippy’s fault but not this time. No one was thinking of Eden during the 54 quake but Burnside may have come to mind. I don’t think there were any fires…..
As the cold wind blew across the pebbly beach and the boat ramp to nowhere, I started to think about seeking a fire to get warm. But perhaps just one more cache!
Thanks Freddo and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

Visisted GZ today and did the observations. Have been past here dozens of times and not noticed this feature - good to know the history behind it.
Submitted the answers to the CO. Another interesting EarthCache, and close to home too.

Mr Dromaniax has headed to Adelaide for a couple of days for business and wants to see how many South Australian caches he can add to the tally. He is in this beautiful area as there are many Eartcaches and they are one of our favourite types of cache. It is rare to find so many Earthcaches in such a small area, but visiting this gorgeous area, I now know why. The day was windy but not cold, and the views were superb. In addition to this, I learned a great deal about the geology of the area. I found the questions on this one a bit difficult, but that may be because I need to read up some more on Geology. Thank you, Prof Freddo, for the time and effort in finding and creating this Earthcache.
You know there are days where I get excited and say “Ooh look there’s a Freddo EC!” and I think to myself, I’m going to learn something and probably see something special, then there are other days where I think if I see that frogs bloody name again I’m going to scream... that’s how I feel about this cache... I had my thinking cap on, a “you can do it” attitude, I had my thumbs ready and although not required I was even prepared to lick rocks...and it still got the better of me....I cast my mind back to the dip lesson Micaparamedic gave me earlier in the year, that helped, so did YouTube....answers submitted fingers crossed, thanks Friedrich
Now staying in Brighton for a few days this morning Mr Felix headed out on his bike to tackle a few caches south of here, once he returned we grabbed lunch and 'the list' and off we set for a full days urban caching. (oh the fear)

Belatedly sent through the answers but better late than never. Never realised that the Eden-Burnside fault-line intersected the coastline at Marino, and very impressed with such a prominent anticline. Thanks for an interesting Earthcache Freddo!
A caching day with Featherwaite that covered a lot of ground.
We gathered the answers which will be sent through by Featherwaite.

Usually Earth Caches suck the joy out of our caching day [|)][xx(], but not this one [^].
A most interesting EC and we'd like to see more like this . Amazing how we've walked along here before, but never noticed the feature, nor had any idea what it meant !
Took photos. Left footprints. Submitted answers.
Thanks Prof Freddo.

Took the opportunity to check out another local geocache for international earthcache day. It was a bright sunny day so we took the geopooch for a wander as well and an impromptu bath. It's amazing that such a significant geological feature doesn't have any form of information nearby highlighting it. As an aside my grandfather was building his new house back in 1954 at Darlington (opposite the Flagstaff Hotel) when the quake struck, splitting it in 2. The house was then painstakingly pulled back together.
Earthlight and I tackled this cache today . Had so much fun recalling when I lived at Hallett Cove and used to walk over the rocks along foreshore. As per usual we tackled getting to gz the wrong way guess it was our own FAULT.
Answers sent by Liz now logging as a find .
Through no FAULT of our own we were able to enjoy this Earthcache

Today Gwen and I located caches and found 2 adv labs on the way to this cache. We took the long way along the rocks which we really enjoyed. If only I knew more about geology!!. Tried using ap on phone w i th mixed results. Answers forwarded for us b o th. Hope you enjoyed our message. A fav point TFTC
I have been here 4times now and starting to get to know this area quite well, an inspection of the cliff face was had and answers collected.
Today I headed south to Aldinga and mclarenvale to go for a bike ride and decided to collect a few caches on my way down to the area. 35 finds for the day plus a few labs.
Thanks for the cache

After meeting up with 3 fellow Cachers that had the same idea as me i found myself doing this EC with them.
Some guesses and ideas were merged along with actual facts from some instruments on hand and we had some realistic answers jotted down
A nice spot. I never knew this Geological Wonder was here. For the 1st time i have seen the rare bit of this faultline exposed Cool As!

It was time for Wednesday Wandering for three geo animals.
The Rat and Adder met up with the Starfish.
Whilst on the beach we met bluewrentit.
There were some guesses made.
Then bluewrentit used the inclinometer to get the answers.
Thanks for the geological lesson. Tftc

The third of the Trio who attended GZ to gather the required information. A familiar face seen walking along the boardwalk, Yep, Bluewrentit.
Discussion took place of what info we were supposed to gather, Looking at those and then at them.
A few guesses were made that we had what was required of the owner.
The answers forwarded to Sir F by our secretary on behalf of the rest of us.
We hope we got full marks?
Thanks again Sir Amphibian.

I started 2020 with some improbable caching goals that only lasted until mid February.
Then came Covid-19 and caching began to take a back seat.
But with restrictions easing and socially responsible caching again possible it is time to start filling the calendars again.
Today however was Wednesday and it was time for the befuddled group of puzzlers to set out in search of recently solved mystery caches, some lab cache series and anything else we happened to be passing.
There we were discussing the angle of the dangle when up pops BlueWrenTit who had actually downloaded an app to his phone that would give a better reading. Well I was close, close enough anyway. The Rat was scribe and will send in the answers for us all.
***Thanks Freddo for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

In between appointments and showers of rain I came to Marino Rocks to study the geology for this Earthcache. [^]
This is a very familiar piece of coastline to me as I spent my teenage years snorkeling and spearfishing around Seacliff, Kingston Park and Marino Rocks as well as exploring the numerous gullies in the area. We also used to come up here and buy fish and chips and eat them in the car while watching the sea...fond memories.
Lucky for me the rain had stopped while I went for a walk down onto the rocks to have a look at the cliffs and their faults so I could answer the questions, but it was still VERY cold. Studied the cliffs took a few photos and continued my day. [^]
I pondered over my answers for a long time and even did a bit of googling to find out what an inclometer was, so I did learn something. Answers were sent and a prompt confirmation was received.
Thanks for another interesting Earthcache Prof Freddo.

Took a sunset walk from Seacliff to Marino which was very enjoyable, particularly as their was a covid wedding taking place on the beach. Once the bride and groom had disappeared off into the sunset on their motorbike I had the beach to myself to observe the interesting geology feature. I did have to read the cache page several time to work out what I needed to do, I am not very good with these things. Was still unsure of the measurement I had to make and am hoping that Prof Freddo will agree with my answers.
TFTC and further geology/fault education. Need to go to that other earth cache on the same fault line, its a work in progress, so many earth caches to be done!

Forwarded answers to CO. Did this with 2 muggle mates... All of us retired geography / geology teachers so much discussion was had! Thanks Freddo for setting up this earthcache!
Alas I stopped by at night, I detest doing EC by torchlight... you really don't get an appreciation of the earth science lesson. Nonetheless I persevered and managed some answers that the CO liked.
Thanks for the EC.
Thanks for the EC.

Found It!
I took a wrong turn and ended up stuck on the bottom level of the Darlington interchange which then forced me onto the expressway. So after a slightly longer trip via Old Reynella, I got to GZ and had a look at the rocks! Answers were collected and sent. And I got FTF at 11am!

*STF* Second to Find joint with jesswrigley at 12:02 hr.
Today, jesswrigley and I had an enjoyable Mother's Day breakfast with my parents, which turned out quite timely to coincide with the morning rain showers. After that downpour, the weather turned out great, with the sun out and blue skies, quite unexpectedly actually. The plan was to head south for a few small hikes/walks, and in the end, we did a few coastal walks, starting with the Marino Coastal Walking Trail, and then some walks inland in Lonsdale, and back to the coastal walking trail, which included seeing the new desalination plant from the outside. A final bakery visit, food shopping and Bunnings visit concluded our day, with a quick stop at Reynella on the way back home.
We were in no hurry to visit this EarthCache, even with the recent publish and no other visitors. With our breakfast finishing up, and our plans to head south anyway, we decided to detour past this location. Just nearby, we saw a place promoting cactuses and succulents, so there was another 10-15 min of buying a 2 m cactus, when then we saw another log had already come through. No worries.
We arrived an hour later from Laighside Legend's visit, and studied the anticline feature. With the provided sketch, I cannot rate an EarthCache like this enough! This is so brilliant, and love an easily pictorial representation of the geology that we can see in person, with a few explanations, and infield analyses to take place. With a few measurements taken, we answered the questions as best as we could, and sent our answers to the CO. Thanks very much Freddo for such a fantastic EarthCache, with a Favourite Point easily awarded.
This Marino beach brings a lot of memories to me - we used to come as a family and park here, to go "crabbing" at this beach, poking in between the rocks and climbing/jumping around them. So it was already a cool place to return to anyway. Cheers.
