12-Aug-21
Lovely peaceful spot here today as we wandered to GZ with only the squawking of the birds and the sound of a plane overhead. We each took a different direction to search and the cache was quickly spotted from one end and retrieved from the other. TFTC CacheQLD

12-Aug-21
We parked nearby and walked across the kids’ traffic infrastructure to the bridge, where a curious magpie stood its ground as we murmured reassuringly to it while we peered underneath. The three of us took different corners, with The Marble coming up trumps. I was very pleased it was at her corner, because the number of webs under the bridge was seriously freaking me out. The bank was surprisingly muddy, given how little water there was in this creek, but the reeds were lush and beautiful. Peaceful and lovely here today.

Find no. 3 for today.

After dropping no.1 son at soccer to perform his referee duties, I had a couple of hours to kill.
What better way than to find a few caches.

After my GPS finally settled down, this cache was found quickly with log signed a placed back for the next finder.

My first cache!

03-May-21
Today was the day to finish off the missed caches, especially the horse geoart, due to being rained out at the Mega and returning home early. So the three of us arrived at Dayboro early and met up with Nayfee who joined us on the trip. Hopefully he will again one day after 6 hours in the car with the little Turmoils!

Quick, easy find here.

25-Apr-21
After finding the cache our first thought was about the photo we should take. Mrs Woodyrothwell suggested another pic with the horse in the nearby paddock was a winner. We walked over close to it and it bolted off like it had seen a ghost.

I don’t know why it was scared off so easily. I have definitely had a shower in February and at least washed my hair once since the start of the millennium. I even had latherings of my dingo piss after shave on so I don’t know what freaked it out.

Once the horse photo was a bust we moved to the exercise equipment and a pack of kids from the ANZAC service at the show grounds decided to ruin our fun. Not even my cologne could scare them away. tftc

Dayboro trip. Day 11. The third day of the mega was another wet day, but not quite as bad as predicted. Things were quiet onsite so we headed off fairly quickly. Today Fitzy_1965, MinnieK, Nibblericecakes and Gliss & I finished off the caches closest to Dayboro we had not got to before heading into Brisbane and surrounding counties for the oldest cache in QLD and ticking off counties. The final goal for the day was as much of the Coat of Arms caches as we could get to before it was too dark. The drive home from Esk to Dayboro was another wet nighttime mountain drive, but we had a warm welcome at the ACT Chateaux before finally retiring for the night.

Thanks for the cache CacheQLD

24,300. Found with minniek on our Dayboro QLD MEGA Adventure trip. For today we also cached with albida33, Nibletricecakes, and GLISS! to form and sign as MiNiFiGAS!

With the sudden COVID outbreak in Queensland putting the Mega in doubt we decided to head up to the New South Wales / Queensland border hoping that it would still go ahead, and with the announcement that things were mostly returning to normal we decided Plan A still looked good. Day 6. Not quite such an early but still wet start today with an aim of caching our way through finishing all of the Geo-Art around Dayboro (all being pre solved) plus various bonus caches along the way, then doing a loop around collecting counties and QLD's oldest. This was the next stop for the day. We parked nearby this one for a quick find at GZ. Signed the log as MiNiFiGAS!, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.

Thanks CacheQLD and all the other Cache owners !! Please forgive the generic logs.

Easter trip away with fitzy_1965 for the cacheQLD Dayboro Mega.

Another rainy morning didn’t deter us from heading out on a southern loop to pick up counties and Queens Land (Qld’s oldest). Again, teaming up with nibletricecakes, GLISS! and Albida33 signing logs as MiNiFiGA’s to also tackle the balance of We <3 Geo, Geosaurus, and Pac-Man, as well as part of the Coat of Arms Geo-art trails and any others in-between. Unfortunately, we were late back and didn’t get to attend the closing ceremony.

All caches were found in good condition unless otherwise stated.

Soooo muddy today!!!!

Signed today as MINIFIGA! as I teamed up with GLISS! Minniek, Fitzy_1965 and Albida33 to tackle some counties, trails, oldies and interesting caches. Great to be finally in Queensland with our eyes on the Mega Prize.
This is the first Mega we have had in Australia in over a year. We have navigated lockdowns, mouse plagues, floods and the dreaded Covid to get here. So wonderful to be able to be out caching in Queensland. Such a privilege. Thanks for the cache.

05-Apr-21
Finally catching up on some outstanding logging of found caches Red Face I had headed back to the Mega Event being held at Dayboro to catch up with some of the attendees and attend the closing ceremony. While I was there, joojoo57 and Aussie Liahona were heading out for a few caches and they invited me to join them Razz

In a break of the miserable weather, we soon found ourselves at ground zero. Aussie Liahona took a look on one side without success so we migrated to the other side. I decided to head down the slippery slope to search for the container and was very pleased not to have fallen over in the mud [^] With our names added to the log book, we continued to the other cache not too far away.

Thank you CacheQLD for creating the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Big Grin

An Easter long weekend means a roadtrip! Lockdown 3 ended in Melbourne last month so we had an opportunity to head north on a one-week journey to the Gold Coast. Clearly that one week was not a great estimate - we had to deal with NSW floods, Byron Bay lockdowns, and Queensland lockdowns. The rerouting meant Pacgirl had to fly home from Coolangatta and I kept heading north to the Dayboro Mega and then the Sunshine Coast. This became a caching trip where I targeted lab caches and earthcaches. After 6,500km and more than 3 weeks I finally got back home with approval from the Victorian government. Ultimately this trip didn't go as planned - it ended up being much, much better Smile!

I finally arrived at a rainy Dayboro Mega on Sunday evening after dropping PacGirl off at the Coolangatta airport in the morning. Easter Monday (roadtrip day 9) and big caching day was planned for the day, initially aiming for 10 cache types in a day.

***

Started off early in the morning before the camp woke up and after some trads in town it was back to the Mega HQ GZ to register officially and do the usual Mega things like excellent lab caches, pathtags and trackables.
With a lot of rain over the whole long weekend things were very quiet by this closing stage. I made my way around a muddy campground and walked to this GZ.
Thanks, CacheQLD.

Over Easter 2021 I cycled to and from the Dayboro Mega event from Toowoomba over 5 days. Cool
Day 3 had me passing this cache so I stopped to find it. Smile And it is pelting down with rain so I only stopped for caches along the main road. Surprised
I cycled up to GZ, parked the bike close by and started the search for the cache. Wink
A quick find. [^]
Log signed and I am on my way again. Big Grin
Thanks for the cache.

In a break from the more persistent rain we drove down into the park. Once we knew it wasn’t in one place it made sense it was in the other. Just a Trifle braved the slippery slope and grabbed the container managing to stay dry and clean in the process. We took it from her and signed the log before replacing. Thanks Cache Qld for placing this cache, and others, to increase our enjoyment of this beautiful area.
Cheers and happy caching!

Dayboro Day 3
Hubby was out on his bike heading into town & he stopped to locate this cache.
Another wet day we have decided to target mostly AL hoping to keeping dryer.
The finds were mostly along backroads, & small country towns. It's always good caching in the country.
This also included a drive around Lake Samson, with a few fishing caches found on land.
Thankyou CacheQLD for placing this cache.

The rain continued on and off as I sloshed around within sight of Mega HQ. As I approached this one, I noticed others at GZ and hurried over in case I could take advantage.
Sure enough, Mrs Grey Parrot was doing the dirty work while Mr Grey Parrot was supervising. At least I could contribute my umbrella over the top as Mrs GP added my name to the log. Thank you and TFTC!

04-Apr-21
TFTC. We deliberately did not attempt the caches close to the Mega site earlier. We expected that there would be a day or two of rain. At least a close cache is easier to retrieve in the rain. The rai had eased a little so we went for a walk into town through the park. Kept our footing in the rain and retrieved the cache.

04-Apr-21
The hubby half of muff1 went for a walk with the hubby half of Hans&Linda to find a cache to keep Hans streak alive. No way was I going out in the rain, I decided that I would stay as snug as a bug in a rug in the caravan at the Mega. SL TFTC

At our first Mega. Blown away by the amount of preparation that has been done. Bit of a shame about the weather but at least we were allowed out of lockdown!! Out this afternoon (due to boredom ) finding some nearby caches before the weather gets even worse (well that’s what’s predicted!!). Thanks Cache Qld for the event and this cache. It’s much appreciated.

There’s a few bridges being erected now for the trains to run along. Detritus had been recruiting trolls to man them. Thank the gods that goats are at a minimum in the city.

In Dayboro for the Mega event. We'd just finished all the gadget adventure lab caches at the showgrounds and decided to venture into town for lunch dodging the rain. We found this park along the way.
Found this good size container safely hidden away. Took penguin button, left puzzle thing.

In between some walks, rain and a few goats trip trapping across my bridge I followed the trolls to this cache and happily added my name to the list.
I could see how this difficulty could increase and many thanks to CacheQLD for placing the cache,

Today, jesswrigley and I had been staying in Robina during the recent Brisbane COVID-19 lockdown, which made our attendance of the nearby CITO event quite handy.
It was then time for me to make the solo drive north to Dayboro to partake in Day 1 of the planned Mega event! I firstly signed in to Mega HQ, and completed the Adventure Lab activities. With my Adelaide friends making the decision to abandon their plans, I headed around solo in finding the various solved geoart and other interesting cache types. I ran into many other Geocachers during the day, and joined a group in Hillview Court Reserve, before finally attending the Trivia Event. There were a few scattered showers, but otherwise, it was tolerable geocaching weather.
Thankfully, I did manage to complete 12 cache types with today's mega event festivities happening.

During my travels around the vicinity, and having only limited time before dinner and the trivia night, I made a stop nearby, and walked to GZ. It was just starting to drizzle, and so I was begining to doubt my decision. Upon arrival, I soon checked a few logical hiding spots as per the hint, finding a few nests of natural wasps, but no cache. Another double check, and I soon found the cache well hidden. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks CacheQLD committee aka. Ardom, EatSleepCacheRepeat, Gcoven, JACS Team, Orange Crew, SEMIK, and Simber15 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today I was out and about as part of the Dayboro Mega day caching run with Gunnie69 and NurseyJulie, who both got some milestone achievement at the mega. As well NurseyJulie was chasing most cache types in a day! The forecast was for some rain, but in the most part it kept away. The plan was to hunt down some nearby caches and attend the Mega, the trivia night and attack the lab series!

Thanks CacheQLD for the cache, the hunt and the smiley today! [D]

We slid down the slope and made a quick find just before being joined by Ruzzelz, nikid and KerriMG. Thanks for the cache

Dick from Dickbev and me (Wesso) from Wesso Family ventured out to the Daboro Mega Event today.
It was Wesso & Dicko on the road again.

Prior to the event we had a few weeks solving a few puzzles and today it was time to turn a few of them into smilies.

We had a great day getting wet and dodging showers.

A big thank you to all the CO's for the great caches in this area.

Wandering around the showgrounds and down through Dayboro (like every body else) and watched a bright orange creature go under the bridge..... When they had left the area, we arrived and did the same.
Returned the log to its spot and headed off toward the bakery.
Thanks for he cache - and a great big thanks to MEGA organisers!

Two nicely timed caches in a row for Ghustgums, NurseyJulie and I. At the last one, we found someone to do the climbing for us. As we approahced this one, we saw Snakepitters sneak into GZ jest before us and DiMorgan join them as we arrived. It seemed we had no choice but to watch on as the container was retrieved. Hmm... OK. The logged was passed over and our names added, then we had the chance to return the favour at the next icon. [^]

Cheers CacheQLD.

This the third cache I have found at the Dayboro Mega Event. I drove back to the showground near our campsite and parked nearby. We entered the gate to the park and path to the bridge. Where do trolls live? I looked from one side and Moogiechew looked from the other and spotted the cache. Thanks for a little walk in the park to find the cache.

Found this cache as part of our Easter long-weekend road trip to the Dayboro mega event. A great adventure and plenty of finds, teamed up with Wilbert, Mizmaz and steeba for this roadtrip.
Many of our logs are signed with "Gong gang" to represent all four of us who were present. Apologise for the boiler style log.

A nice walk down into town proved fruitful
Thanks for the cache.

Offered a spare seat on a roadtrip with The Rats and Wilbert67 to the Dayboro Mega, jumped at the chance to accept, and together with Steeba (who flew up), we joined forces to become “the Gong Gang” over the Easter weekend. Aside from the rain and threats of last minute border restrictions, it turned into 2500km of fun, finds and adventures. Thanks to the Gang for the invite, company and shared solves/searches and all the COs for the smiley opportunities. Apologies for the generic log (unless further comments required) but we got through a LOT!! ??
