We are currently staying at Mackay and today we made a start on the VC series.

We left Mackay at 08.30hrs and spent 8hrs on the trail, finding 100 caches in this series.

It is humbling to read the stories about these brave recepients and reflect on their sacrifice for our freedom.

Our thanks to geocaching_mackay for creating, researching and placing this series. We appreciate the time and effort that it must have taken to do so.

We spent our last day picking up smileys in this amazing series. All caches we looked for today were found except this one and we replaced the micro on the new sign and we were able to sign all of the logs. We read aloud the name of the person who the cache was honouring as we arrived at each GZ to pay our respect and remarked on their heroism. Many thanks to geocaching_mackay for the hard work put into creating this series for us to enjoy. We had a another great day!

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 110. Clairview Day 2. With no caches left around Clairview, I had to head west up the Croydon road again. There were a few challenging caches that I was happy to locate, and a few DNFs that may have been lost to upgrades or may just mean I am blind. I will be back up that way tomorrow to stay at Lotus Creek.

My first army cache for the day, and I failed to find it. I did not see anything on the sign, which may be new, despite already having a bullet hole in it. If it is in the bush somewhere, I failed to find it.

Thanks.

Today it was a matter of finding more caches that honour the many who have been awarded the Victoria Cross. Our name, along with that of ilook4geo, was noted on each log. Thank you to geocaching_mackay for placing all these caches.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks geocaching_mackay (F=9 H=386) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

Micaparamedic, Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 and myself decided to tackle the many caches in the area and see how many we could find. As much as I enjoy searching for caches and the places they take us, the amount of interesting information supplied with these caches was outstanding and well worth reading.
We first went to Sabrina for an answer needed for the Ad Lab then decided that we would attempt the letterbox caches, amongst others, as we all needed them for a challenge back home. The grass today wasn't nearly as much of a problem as it was yesterday so that helped make the searching easier.
Please excuse the generic logs but know that we appreciate all the time, effort and money that has gone into placing this series and now maintaining it for us to enjoy.
Thank you for everything that has gone into this series.

Day 2 in the area with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 picking up a few caches while slowly working our way to the Queensland Mega and today we targeted the letterbox series for a challenge down in Melbourne that we all want to get and these will help s qualify.
After grabbing the Adventure Lab All the big things stage in Sabrina we decided to try our luck with the VC series.
The cache pages for these recipients were fantastic and we were happy that they were spaced a good distance apart so that Diane could read the information as we were travelling between them and this made the journey really enjoyable.
We are ashamed to say that we didn't know there were so many VC winners, these were truly brave and gallant servicemen to do what they did.
Again we apologise for the generic log. When you do so many caches in such a short time frame it's hard to keep track of each one but we do really appreciate the amount of effort, time and expense creating this great recognition trail.

Many thanks geocaching_mackay for putting this all together.

We are staying in our van at St Lawrence. A lovely spot to came at the wetlands reserve. Hot showers, clean toilets, not crowded and it’s cheap! The only thing we were disappointed with was when we get free or very cheap camping we like to spend some money in the area to say thank you and to help out the local economy. However after driving around the town neither the pub or the store appeared to be open. A shame.
We have just come from Yeppoon where we spent the majority of our time trying to solve and then find a lot of Termingi’s diabolical hides. We were relatively successful, but did need to consult the guru a number of times. Good for our numbers, but not so good for our sense of achievement. We set out looking for an easier day today, and we haven’t been let down. Other than the potholed road, dodging cattle, kangaroos, a tawny frogmouth running across the road, other assorted wild life, fresh cow pats, some great views and steep stretches it was a pretty uneventful drive!
We would like to thank all the local CO’s for putting out this series. Without you blokes we wouldn’t have this fantastic pastime, and all our lives would be poorer for it. We really appreciate your efforts.
Apologies for the generic log.

Out caching with Ian & Penny today . The plan was to finish the VC trail and see where we went next .
I believe we found the rest of the trail and will stand with 4 DNF's, I guess that works. A few wet log books , lots of containers not holding up to the heat and loosing clips right, left, centre and all over but a rock will keep the lid on.
Of course we chose bad spots for our smoko break_There was a better place a bit up the road and Lunch could have been a table and chairs & possible view too. but them the breaks.

Hi there geocaching_mackay.

Today we headed out from Mackay with Rainforest Cookie so we could attempt the remainder of the VC series, some of the Marlborough Trail plus any others we came across on our travels. We started at "Private Leslie "Tom" Starcevich" & from there we proceeded to log caches until we reached the St Lawrence turnoff, then we headed back to camp. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but we find it difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** The containers and log books were mostly in good shape. Some are becoming UV damaged and missing their clips..
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Nothing
**Note:** Our log "RFCIP29/5 may not be placed in the last spot in the book or sheet, any blank spot will do.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny

Grey Nomads travelling around Australia - more recently, just Queensland, and of late, heading up the Bruce. Today with our snail firmly based at St Lawrence, we headed up the big hill to have a go at the VC Power Trail. With our fridge full of food, and our apps and gps charged up, we set off. In all today, we found 54 caches and DNF 0, which we were pretty happy with. 200 k round trip!

Thanks for the fun goecaching_mackay. All your caches were found quickly, and were in good order (except for one towards the end of our day)

What a day! Leaving Rockhampton with the sparrows (or was it earlier than that?) we set our group the target of finding all the caches of the Letterbox Naval Ships and the VC Trail, with a few extras thrown in along the way.

It was an exciting day but very tiring one, and at its end we crawled our way to our BnB in Sarina.

Because of the nature of the trail (and its hang-on caches this time) I am writing a generic log for all 151 found caches. I apologise to the other COs in this instance, but rest assured, I will not discount the experience I had at your cache.

So, "Thank You", geocaching_mackay, for the experience we had in this part of Central Queensland.

Day four of my visit from the Gold Coast with geo friends, RoddyC, hatzofff, grannysmith1947 and youngoldfella. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this series as I am very familiar with all things Military and the rank structures & also enjoyed reading the many varied cache page descriptions on each member.
As like the letterbox trail we did earlier in the day, all hides were great to find and were in good condition and I appreciate all the work involved by the CO in setting up this trail. Apologies for the generic logs.

As these are really easy and not a lot to say about them I apologise for the Generic Logs. I started the trail at the Southern end at approximately 7 am and Arrived in Sarina at approximately 4 pm. It took me about 8 hours. I cache solo 95% of the time and on this trip. rained in a couple of places.

Signed the majority of the logs YOF as I use this to save space on the log sheets. Where I could I used youngoldfella. My trip for the weekend was 1860 kilometres from Bargara to Bargara. Got used to where to look pretty quickly and a lot of the times left the GPS in the car. Very good co ordinates. Bisons where mainly on a fence or in a tree.

Nearly every hide was approximately 1 kilometre apart and this made good driving between each one.

This one was a quick find and all is good with it. TFTC

Our thanks to geocaching_mackay for placing this series of caches and giving recognition to those who served so valiantly for our freedom. The trail was well executed, with sensible placement and a variety of containers. We enjoyed our day with Wazza9 and Nana Nel and ended up finishing off a great day with dinner at one of the hotels in Sarina. Keep up the good work Smile

Today I joined with Liz & Bruce and Wazza9 to complete this trail, this trail hightlights all these great servicemen and their achievements. Most of this trails were quick finds, we didn't see a lot of wildlife, a couple of kangaroos and emu's. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to geocaching_mackay.

TFTC,

This is our final cache in this series. We averaged about 20 caches an hour. Adding a favourite and visiting trackables.

I will look forward to returning one day to place a found on our latest VC awardee.

What an amazing Power trail. I feel guilty presenting a generic log to each of these very special people.

However at the same time, at each and every person where I took the chance to read about them, I was reminded of my Grandfather who was injured at Switch Trench in France, 18th October 1916 and my Uncle who returned from New Britain in 1945.

To every person who served and continues to serve to give us the lifestyle we enjoy today, this series for me is to them.

I have to say thank you. To every person who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us, I hope that we will never forget them.

Koamala, camping here for 2 nights
Congratulations on placing this VC trail.
Every name along here is a deserving hero. Somebody that has fought bravely, without consideration for there own safety, many gave their lives doing so.
Some of the names I knew, others were all strangers untill today. The 1k between caches gave us long enough to read their story.
Thanks for placing this amazing series geocaching_mackay

Our day for conquering the VC trail. Managed to do a few yesterday but even so it was still another 5 hours of transit and finding time. All caches in good condition, luckily for us the grass is dry and easier to walk through, not so in the spring when the grass will be lush and green. It was humbling reading the heroic efforts that these serviceman did, som e of them paying the ultimate price of their lives. Not lost on the Snakepitters who are both ex serviceman with a total of 58 years service combined.
