Theres been a lot of recent clearing of trees & bushes around the GZ area but cache is there & in good order. Nice container anguss88.
In Tassie for the next few months. So many great places to visit and so many different caches to find.Staying nearby so we could get out and do some of the bike trail over the next few days. Missed a few this end, so while hubby had breakfast I grabbed this one. An easy enough find at GZ.Thanks Angus88 for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Today I needed to try and find 15 caches for my daily target to get to 22k by the end of 2023. So I decided on a Xmas bike ride. The bike ride reminded me I am quite a lot unfit, the terrain was much hillier () than I anticipated. I had to push the bike up some of the hills but it was fun going back down them on the way back.I cycled out to the furthest cache and then cached my way back to Railton. Nice 16 finds for the morning.Back to Beryl the Moho for scrambled eggs and Tassie salmon on muffins. I had earned it!!!Nice quick finds on all the caches too.Great little series looking forward to the rest of them when we visit Sheffield in the New Year.TFTC
Benji the geopoodle was super excited as we started our stroll down a part of track we have not been down beforeTFTC
On a maintenance hike today. This one was replaced with a regular size with swaps. New log.
So here's how it is: We've found the first and the last, does this make us eligible to say we did the trail?
Thanks for maintaining the cache

Yay another find, the first one ️ after we did the last one TFTC and a path tag as a reward, happy
We're staying in Railton since we can do parkrun tomorrow morning. It's a lovely day to grab some caches and enjoy the topiary. TFTC
Out for a walk on a rainy day. Quick easy find. Signed log book TTM and replaced as found. TFTC.
This is a very peaceful bush area, lovely that its so close to the main street of town. TFTC
It is a habit of mine to not conform and this is a good example. Starting in Sheffield on the 16th I decided to do this one backwards and took a few days off in the middle. At first I was a bit clumsy, trying to get the caches without taking off my big heavy hiking pack full of camping and cooking gear. At one point I tripped and did a somersault into a soft grassy ditch, pack and all. From that point I began taking it off to retrieve the hides. It was good exercise.
There was some wildlife, tiger snakes, one was on a cache, and a jack jumper nest under a cache.
All in all, it was a great geocache trail and an excellent walking track with caves and waterfalls.
Thank you Angus88!

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache. The cache and its contents are in excellent condition.
I was passing through Railton and decided to tackle the remaining caches that I had not got to on my previous visit and this was one of them. It was such a lovely day to cache.

Thank you for the cache Angus88.
Staying in Sheffield for the weekend with RLD4963 and the two GeoGSP's.
RLD4963 had done a small section of the Railton-Sheffield rail trail during a visit in February. We have always planned to come back and spend a weekend here so we could attempt the remaining sections of the trail. Today was the day!
Here we are at the beginning, but it's not our first of this series, we are all over the place This one took a bit of a search before RLD4963 spotted it.

It was a Big enjoyable day out caching with ANNAGJW on a nice Sunny winter's day (even managed to get sunburnt). Have had this on our to-do list for some time, so with Anna trying to make it to find her 300th by the end of the month we finally organised a caching day together.! I found my 1100th cache along the way. Nice to get out and have a good day doing caching after not finding many in the last year. Couldn't pick a better day to be out with it being International Geocaching day.
Started at the Sheffield end and worked our way down to Railton. 52 finds including an adventure lab. With only 1 DNF we were happy with the day.
Thanks, Angus88 for placing all these caches for our enjoyment.
Easy find. Our last one for the day done by touch light

Our final cache for the day, we were completely in the dark by now, however was still a super fast find with accurate coords and hint. Thanks so much for placing this cache trail Angus88, we have had an awesome day!!
We have planned this day so many times before and finally today on Geocaching World Record day, CoxFamily7310 and I were able to head out on our Railton to Sheffield adventure together.
We found 52 caches, my highest number in one day!! Our day also included, walking a few km (got a beautiful blister to show for these ), an adventure lab, replaced a cache for another CO, some easy finds, some crazy coords, some slips, slides and falls, crawling in caves, jumping creeks, caching by torch and only a couple of DNFs.
We started at Sheffield today and worked our way back to Railton, completing the track in reverse.
Massive thanks also to CoxFamily7310 for an amazing day

Thanks for the find

Thank you for the cache Angus 88, I'm spending a month touring Tassie. Camped last night in Railton by the station, beautiful spot thank you for the locals for up keeping it. Found the cache in good condition, regards from Victourer from Victouria
Final cache for the day. 12km run all up. Will go the other end and run to the mid point and back another time. Thanks for the fun
That took longer than it should. GPS kept sending me all over the place so ended up checking all the trees in the area and finally found it. Tftc
After finding 36 out of 40 caches along the trail we ran out of battery before we reached this one. Oh well, one for next time we visit Railton.
Looked for this one on the way to Sykes Sanctuary and again on the way back. Logging as a DNF as others looked for this morning were quick easy finds. Thanks Angus88 for the series and another place to walk with the dog.
I remember this end of the track from a previous visit. One last find and we were done! Finished at the beginning.
Dropping in a favourite point for a great day out.
It was TazScout who first mentioned the idea of doing the Sheffield to Railton rail trail caches. I suggested this weekend to tie in with a CITO in Devonport that I had organized to attend, and a plan came together fairly quickly. Hotel rooms were scarce around the area but we managed to find a place to accommodate stainless steel rat, the egg and I. TazScout has a busy weekend so drove out to meet us for the day.
As always, our day started with coffee whilst we did a car shuffle before starting at 'The End'. We talked non-stop as we walked, it had been a long time since all five of us had been together and we had a lot of news to catch up on. The company was great, the weather was perfect, and we really couldn't have asked for a better day.
Thanks for all the caches today Angus88, we had a lot of fun.

As always we do thing backwards and finished here after walking from Sheffield, been here before and found caches in the past so was nice to return today.
This weekends adventures was instigated by TazScout with a discussion/statement 'Day Walk' followed by a map of the area around Sheffield and Railton on the 8th of April, after we all talked to our significant others and arrangements made and diaries double and triple checked we had a sort of plan on the 15th and accommodation was booked for a busy weekend of walking between Sheffield and Railton collecting those caches along with any other GC or GCA we could find the time to grab as we were in the area.
Along with a wonderful walk we had time to catch up with friends and find some great caches, so a perfect use of our time, i think we all were better for a caching weekend and swear we wont leave it as long next time, thanks to all the CO's for making this trip possible.
Thanks for the cache.

Had a day out with Stainless Steel Rat and Goose & Egg. Decided we'd tackle the Railton/Sheffield run. Of course we picked the busiest weekend of the month with three events in the area one of which being cycling so we had plenty of company on the track.
The Beginning was the end for us, heading off to do some road caches from the cars but the walk was very enjoyable, thanks for the trek

This was my last cache on the trail. No problem with the cache. Thanks for all the caches.
ok, so this was the start of a very hot walk !
No problems finding this fella, all in good order.
As always, thanks for the incredible effort and task of placing these caches. It's a fantastic series.

The log has been replaced with a new one inside a second container to help keep it dry. Please be considerate and replace cache carefully . Thank you. 18 Jan 21.
Thanks to the last DNF log, I went to check this cache and found it in the open, at GZ, so re-hid it. Really don't know how this happens but this is why it is important for people to log DNFs [I know some don't]. If the DNFs aren't logged, COs don't know. I normally would not check after one DNF but I was overnighting in the right area and needed a walk with the geoWesties. Thankfully I did. The other DNF on this trail was already been found since the DNF log.
This area of caches had been selected to be done after the Community Event held at Latrobe a couple of weeks ago but as it was pouring with rain we left them. Today we headed out with Tassie Trekkers in glorious sunshine to find them. The coords did wander a bit so we were pleased with the detailed hints. A lovely trail. Thanks for placing and sharing this area with us. TFTC
Today we targeted this series of caches with whitewebbs that form part of the Tasmanian Trail between Sheffield and Railton. We started early when the breeze was cool but soon became hotter as we worked our way to Railton.
Some were easy to find, but others took some time as we had trouble with co-ords. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

It was all about spotting it from the right angle once that happened soon had cache in hand
A trip to Launceston and Devonport on Thursday and Friday with a a night in Launceston. Thursday was work and Friday was a day off, so I took advantage of the new caches in Devonport and Railton for a run on my way to my target of 500 finds for the year. After a very successful day, I came home with 58 cache finds and 2 and nature lab stages.... so 60 which was a good day considering I was home by 7pm. Thursday weather wasn’t very good, so little was down after work, but Friday was a perfect day for caching. Not to hot not raining.
Really enjoyed a walk along the Tasmanian trail. And all was good until on the back roads to Railton, where one stop I was surprised by a tiger snake, which luckily didn’t seem interest3d in me. To be honest it was about 10 metres away, but going Parallel to my walking path.... I don’t like snakes.
Anyway. Managed to finish The Tasmanian trail whole series which deserves the huge favourite point.
While this was the beginning, I did this almost last

Heading north for a few days, no real plan, by the look of the weather that will most likely determine what we do.
The weather was looking good so we decided to see how far we would get in this series. We decided to start at the end.....as you do. The start was very wet but improved the further we went along the track.
This one took some searching! We met icybeetas here. We all had trouble finding this one. Eventually expand our search and male membsec put his hand on it.

Knowing that the weather would be O.K. in the afternoon I came to Railton to seek out the new caches and catch up on others in the area. This cache tended to be a difficult find and after a while Mr & Mrs Memsec came along and with 6 eyes searching Mr Memsec had cache in hand ready for signing.
A beautiful day to be out caching, so we decided to finish the rest of this series that we started recently.
Met our two muggle walking friends and with the 5 dogs headed off along a track I was familiar with but they had not previously known about. We had cached at Sykes Reserve before.
While we headed off from number 1 Mr Beetle [who doesn't do walks] drove to number 16 and began working his way back towards us.
This one was in the third lace I checked that fitted the clue, but was still a quick find.
Thanks.

Two days ago we found half the caches in the Railton to Sheffield Series. Today we returned to attempt to find the remainder. While Mrs y'stassie walked from Sheffield through to the Stoodley Forest, the other member of the team went to look for the other caches in the Railton area that we didn't have time to look for previously. The rain was clearing and better weather was on the way.
The GPS was rather slow to settle in this area, probably due to a combination of the low cloud and dense tree canopy. However, once settled, reasonably accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. the cache and contents were in good condition. As there were no other entries in the logbook, we will claim {FTF} at 13:05. Thanks Angus88 for all the work that has gone into planning and placing this series.
