Like earlier, visitors have mentioned, it was a stretch! Thanks for the fun and cool location.
After two previous failed attempts I came back today armed with my 8 yr old and sure enough - success! TFTC
Bit of a strech to reach. So found something to help. Pleased the path was cleanish.
Came down to have a looksee... Didn't take long to spot it, all good here. Not a bad little spot... wouldn't mind having a go on that flying fox haha. Bit of a secret little spot this one, I didn't know about - guess I just missed the signs.TFTC GeocachingCanterbury, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 3 today, making this find #4715
It's school holidays so I finish work a little earlier than usual. I talked GeoHubby (GNARwhal) into leaving work early also (we work at the same establishment) so we could have a GeoDate while Miss 11 is at the beach with her sister. We had just read Paddle Chicks log, and had a good laugh (thanks for that). We were a bit more cautious with our approach and had a good search around, coming up empty handed. Another look by GeoHubby and he said he had spotted something "right there", taping his foot, which was too far under to reach. What happened next involved a phone camera, a stick, some lying down on the ground and the bridge simultaneously, and some "no not that right, the other right" to try to manoeuvre what we thought might be the cache to where it could be reached. At this point we weren't sure if we were doing all this for some rubbish as it didn't look like your usual cache. Finally I grabbed it, and did the honours in opening it, to find the log book! YAY! Both signed, and then replaced a little bit closer to where future cachers can reach it. Although I did wonder if the water might come up high enough to shuffle the cache along?Anywho, thanks for another smiley, and for the laughs to go along with it. FP for a memorable cache expedition.
Abandoned work, went Caching with That Darn Bear instead * Quite The tale from That Darn Bear and I, see her log for details
Down in the Christchurch area with woolwood9. Day 7 - A fine day, although a bit cooler.SL *tm/ww NZ*Thank you for the reason to visit this cache and location Another fairly quick one today.*Good find and hide.*
Heading out today for day 7 of my trip to Christchurch with tmann421.Had fun finding all caches, some were much easier than othersSigned all logs tm/ww NZThanks to cache owners for their efforts
Well I managed to turn this cache from a T1.5 into an expensive T5 yesterday. I came here with olly cheer chick, she decided to sit in the car rather than help me find it and she missed out on getting some embarrassing photos of her aunt. I was on my hands and knees trying to see under the platform and leaned a bit too far, lost my grip on the platform and fell in, ending up sitting with water up to my chest. As I was already in the water I thought I'd have a proper look under the platform and it was at this point I realised everything was all blurry, my glasses had fallen off as I tumbled in. I stood in the now murky water feeling around on the bottom for the glasses but couldnt find them so went back to the car to get Olly to help, she couldnt see them anywhere but we did see an eel starting to sniff around the stirred up river bottom. Back at the car I threw on some dry clothes and found a set of contact lenses so that I could legally drive and headed back to Olly's place for a shower then to specsavers to order some new glasses. I mentioned it to Jude_E at last nights event to see if she could give me a tip rather than risk another "incident". She couldnt remember it so this morning called by to have a look and there were my glasses sitting on the river bottom within arms reach, she messaged me and I came out to meet her. By the time I'd arrived she'd also found both the original cache and the replacement, the original was a sodden mess so she took it away with her. I was very greatful to be able to sign the log and replace it back where it had been (out of reach of the river). I think this cache deserves a favourite simply for being one that I'm not going to forget in a hurry. On the plus side I will now have some nice new glasses and a pair just for caching. Next time I come across a cache with a name like this I will try not to take it so literally. TFTC#14855
Found it but unfortunately very wet. Was a very unorthodox find for us. Looking upside down from another direction helped. TFTC
Found but not the way I expected. Went to move something out of the way to have a look and there it was; TFTC
Took a bit of pushing from other side to be able to reach, only found the replacement one, awesome spot to just relax and sign log
12 January 2022 10:26. A lovely little reserve but at risk of being choked by invasive species (e.g. blackberry, convolvulus and buddelia). A pleasant spot at GZ to contemplate life in general. Tftc. Took a bit of reaching, and logbook is soaked so couldn't be signed, hence photo.
It took a while to sort this one out, saw two caches but could only reach one of them. Cheers
I had to come to the nearby Hall for a wedding reception and while I waited for it to start I found this cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
What a lovely spot - one family enjoying a picnic and this geocaching enjoying the peacefulness while searching. TFTC # 17,518

No feed for the fish tonight. Just a quick stop for the cache on my way back home from a 100th b-day party (not mine!).
Found not only one cache, but two! Signed both logbooks for good measure. Replaced both containers side by side.
Kia ora! Paldies!
TFTC, Brodiewill!

A delightful spot, and a quick find on a glorious autumn afternoon. TFTC!
Found this at the start of the month but realise now I hadn’t logged it. Didn’t realise this spot existed. Tftc
For the third day running, both StreetWalkerNZ and I needed some cache finds to bring our total for 28 March to a nice green 26 on our stats page. I needed 10, while SW needed just 6 so we decided to head to Kaiapoi where I could do SW's ad lab there.
I went to one side and SW the other, and I found the cache. Unfortunately, a family came to look for the fish (we didn't spot anything) so had to sneakily return the container while they weren't looking. Darn, left the TBs I had picked up in the NI at home .
This area is familiar so wonder if we have found a cache here in the past. TFTC.

#19772. No fish (or eels) were spotted today, but the cache wasn't hard to track down. Nice area. TFTC.
A nice quick find thanks. We saw an eel trying to eat salami by the bridge, but with no luck!
Ms_KR and I had another quiet weekend in Christcurch, mostly with visiting family. We managed a few caches on the "way home" from the airport,
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Another wonderful park I never knew existed. I love caching where you have the place to yourself and can properly enjoy the hunt. Tftc
Cache was a quick find and ended up chatting to a woman walking her dog and I suspect we might now have a brand new geocacher
Very impromptu afternoon out with Lytteltonwitch. The nicest thing about this experience was the delightful young lady with her dog who we explained geocaching to! She was really concerned about the people who would gather here to extract eels, she wondered if that's what we were doing. Reassured with a plus and she likes the idea of what we were doing! TFTC
Almost gave up, happy to have found it and yes, a slightly smelly container.
Thanks for hiding
Thanks for hiding
A quick stop with offspring in the afternoon. No one around except a group having a picnic on the other side of the park. Container fits the theme although the smell is not the nicest! TFTC!!
A quick find on the way north. I've lost count of the times I've driven past here only to remember the cache *after* I'm past!
I nearly DNFd this (& nearly CITOd the container - lucky I heard a slight rattle).

Not sure what to expect in this spot, and what a surprise;-- a full sports ground and a playground at the end of a delightful walkway. Loved the wee walk. Thanks BW
I needed to find 2 caches today in my personal challenge to bring my total finds for the 10th September up to 26 and thus into a deeper shade of green on GC's Statistic Daily Finds Calendar.
Once the rain passed by at lunchtime I headed out in cachemobile. I was somewhat glad I had taken the precaution of wearing my gummies for the path to the fishes was under water. On arriving at GZ all my search revealed was that I had cut myself brushing past the streamside carex grass. [xx(] So I gave up searching there and decided to go search somewhere else. This was much more successful. [^] That's the final half my caching mission now done. Time to head home. Thanks for the cache placement BW.

A very quiet area we hadn't been to before. No trouble finding the cache. No fish to feed today. TFTC

After a busy last couple weeks and next to no caching....a quieter day today lent itself to a maintenance drive out to Kaiapoi via a couple of these new publications.
After the Spencer Bus Stop i cut across to this gz. Been a while since i was last here. A quick find and i moved a few meters down the track to sign...beside Neil Cherrys tree.....used to be a cache here a while ago commemorating the man too.....nice spot. Cheers.
