We continued today our tour of Queensland and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Letterbox Hybrid. The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging. Thanks to alphag_25 for the generation of this nice cache Stamp that Mackay Letterbox Cache (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. We stayed over night at the Clairview campground. Heading further north, on our way to Mackay, we made a few stops to find caches and to shop. This one was an easy find. Thanks a lot for this letterbox cache,Murkel,on tour with Muckel1 27. September 2024 11:20
Finished another long trip around Australia. The 6th. Next up to Townsville to grab the Palm Island LGA. Only 2 LGAs to complete Australia.Firstly heading back south for some Canberra time.TFTC. Camped at the showground of Finch Hatton for the night. There happen to be a country music festival on right there. Bands played late into the night.A slow start in the morning getting some Jigidies done. Then it was back into Mackay to finish the last Earth Cache. Now heading south to Rockhampton to find lots of ECs, Virtuals and Ad Labs... and of course any other type that looks interesting, or not.An excellent strong letterbox.
We were heading from Sarina to our van at Alligator Creek. Though we check on the mail. All good here .
Heading home from Rocky after finally picking up my wounded new car after a month of waiting for a replacement tyre. This was 1 of 2 stops on the way back to Townsville to break up the drive. I picked this one out as it was a non trad with easy access. Im not sure if you found the spot or you placed it at the spot. Either way its impressive. Thanks alphag_25. Have a FP.
I was a little concerned about this cache since it had been a while since it had been found. My Aussie friends have basically put the fear of God into me so I wasn't thrilled about going into the brush! But I decided to go for it and found the cache. Phew!Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:I was visiting from the U.S. and had a goal of driving all the way up the east coast starting in Melbourne and ending in Port Douglas over a few weeks. Today started in Rockhampton and ended in Airlie Beach.I was enjoying my drive up the coast and seeing new places along the way. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but I do appreciate you.
This cache was on the top of my to-find list for this trip. Got to GZ and loved the effort put into making it, definite favourite point. There is a huge ant nest in the cache but the container is fine and I stamped a big happy face in the log as this cache ticked boxes on calendars and challenges.TFTC
Best find of the day with travel bug. Took the one there and put another TB in its place.
A good sized cache on our way south.
Picked up a few ants and dropped off a travel bug.
Thank you for this cache

Nice easy find, and we did a swap, something we rarely do these days, but took a little forklift for the grandson and left a super ball and a Malaysia flag pin.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
first letterbox for me liked it, signed log at 14.03pm no muggles around here ,well positioned cache thanks alphag_25 for the caches this one made 17 finds for the day very happy...
Was riddled with ants but still a well done cache, holding up to north QLD weather, tftc.
first of this kind for me, signed log at 13.52 no muggle worries here, good concept, liked it ,TFTC
Picked up this great cache on a day trip caching in the area, thanks for the cache
Out today to clear up a few DNFs from a few days ago, and round our numbers up to 6400 finds
Found while Mr D chatted on the phone to muggle son. Who said you need your phone to cache?
Moved along some TBs to different location. Left Domino and a bug
Thanks alphag_25

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 108. Mackay to Clairview via Sarina. I am heading south slowly and spent the long morning caching along the Bruce Highway and in Sarina. Apart from a few failed tree caches, I had a great day with some interesting locations visited. It is all the more entertaining doing it with a van, and sometimes this means longer walks or skipped caches.
Most of the days caches were quick rad side stops. No problems here today with the cache, but the outer container is getting a bit rusty.
Thanks for the cache alphag_25

Thanks for yet another great hide alphag_25. I was really impressed with this cache so it has earnt a favorite point from me. I love that a cache of this size is tucked neatly off to the side of the highway.
Favourite point from me for the build. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird or Angry Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC alphag_25

Mackay to Sarina
Having an overnight stay to find some of the caches in the Sarina & Hay Point area.
This was a good way to tour the are and we found a good variety of caches some in places we had not visited before.
Thankyou alphag_25 for placing this cache.
**This Cache:**
An awesome letterbox just off the highway! Turning around on the road was harder than finding the cache, but it was also pouring rain and I have a 2WD that gets stuck easily so had to be extra cautious about not leaving the road surface.
The letterbox itself looks quite ancient! Nicely hidden just off the road though!
Thanks

**Today:**
Day 18 of my road trip, now heading back to Canberra from the Townsville Mega Event!
Today I drove between Mackay - Theodore, it rained the ENTIRE day, but I still cached my way along the route.
I actually ran into tronador from Sydney today, which was a pretty huge coincidence now that it was well after the mega and we were no longer in Townsville! We found each other at one Earthcache, and then both headed to the same Earthcache next, which was at a cave system! This was extremely lucky as neither of us would have explored this cave alone, but now that we had a friend we entered the cave and had a bit of a look around feeling safer with the situation!
Luckily the rain radar was completely clear from 6pm, so I was able to camp out in Theodore without getting wet! Wooooo! I delayed setting up my swag until it stopped completely, and it didn't rain again, gosh I was lucky! Had a pleasant night!
Thanks to all the CO's

Found as I made my way back to Adelaide after attending the Townsville Mega event over Easter.
Last night I stayed just south of Mackay and then headed off in the morning to find a few caches of interest between Timberland and Sarina, including this Letterbox, before continuing my journey south.
Thanks alphag_25 for the cache.

Nice quiet road and a proper letterbox here.
Up to Townsville with GreyHams, timed well with a Mega and Maze and a lot of quality caching in the area to keep anyone busy for longer than the time we had! Counties were our primary focus, up to Cardwell and south of Mackay... a side trip out towards charters, we covered some distance in the 5 days away but saw so much.
Day 1 saw us arrive late in the day after a stop off in cairns, out towards Charters was a lovely drive with its drier scenery before back into the mega to catch up with friends and a Trivia night.
Day 2 was our Mega and Maze day. Lots of great quality and fun ALs on site, friendly people and a visit from the Mega's Easter Bunny for my chocolate egg! Even managed a refreshing squirt from a hose on one AL much to the amusement of those watching!!! Loved the escape room experience and then off north towards Cardwell for a little caching through more iconic north Queensland scenery.
Day 3 saw us walking the length of the strand, lovely historic area, lots of caching and great scenery to enjoy. A good solid morning in the area before boarding the ferry to Palm island, after the warm walk of the morning it was great to sit in the cold aircon with lunch, a cold drink and relax out on the water.
The visit to Palm Island was a beautiful location and very pleased to have had the opportunity to experience it. A calm relaxed trip across was a far contrast to the busy and rough trip back. Into the waves led to a wild and stomach churning bounce of the ferry as it made its journey back to Townsville, yet up top in the open wind and spray it was a wild and fun time!
Day 4 saw us driving south of Mackay for a letterbox trail. More iconic Queensland scenery as we drove, love all the cane fields, lush green and huge mountain ranges. The letter box trail was worth the drive, a lovely area and well put together and we even passed other Canberra teams along the road! Mackay offered lovely beach scenery, a step back into my childhood and a little adventure... plan 'F' payed off as it often does. The little town of Calen came to our rescue were the people were friendly and and the facilities and hotel worthy of stopping.
Day 5 and our last, the journey back towards Townsville with a few stops as we cached along, the heat kicked up a notch but the cars aircon matched it well! Up to Castle Hill and then our time was done and back to the airport and the trip home... Many thanks to the CO's for your caches that led us on another very enjoyable trip.

TFTC. We are making our way to Townsville for the Mega at Easter. As we make our way up we are stopping to find caches between our overnight stops. Always good to stop to stretch our legs. And find a cache as well.
Found by Mary and David at 07:40 on our drive from Sarina to Bowen. And so we did add our stamp. Our first for the day. Lid was partially undone, and the container had lots of ants in it. Think we got rid of them ok, and closed the container completely before returning it. Our thanks to alphag_25.
Hard to pass an easy letterbox find!

A quick trip to Morinish to start the day, a select few around Rocky before lunch, then on to Mackay grabbing a cache here and there. An roadblock resulted in an interesting detour at the end of the day.

We’ve done so many caches bu alphag how could we resist a special letterbox cache!! Took the travel bugs for relocation on our way south
1MinnieMoo and I were heading back from Hay Point after quite an unsuccessful hunt in the area. 1MinnieMoo noted this one on the roadside so we pulled over.
I spun the car around and parked next to GZ. What an excellent place for such a cache. We signed the log and re"hid" everything as it should be.
I enjoyed the "old schoolness" of this one. It's been a while since I found a "proper container" for one of these. TFTC alphag_25

Today was a rather disappointing day on the caching front. We had specific target caches that just weren’t working out.
So on our way back towards Mackay for the night, I had a quick squizz at the map and noticed we were super close to a letterbox cache. Well why not?
So Fangsoki managed the pull in off the highway to this one and we made a quick find when we pulled up and spied a likely looking suspect for a cache through the trees.
Thanks for the cache alphag_25.

Friday. Travelling from Townsville, it was now late afternoon by the time we got to this cache. Argh, don’t trust that GPS, as it sent us down a road that was a dead end. Oh well, Mr SP was having fun watching all the cane trains at least. Nice quick find once we managed to get to GZ.
This was the 7th of 8 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***alphag_25*** for showing us this place

It was good to have somewhere safe to pull up with the caravan behind us. But we went too far down the road despite reading the Description but managed to turn round at the bend further on.
A very quick find, cache and log both in great condition.
On the road again, but only a short trip today. Koumala to Mackay. Plenty of time to stop and grab a few caches that we haven’t got to yet, where we can pull up with caravan in tow.
After setting up and then having some lunch we met up with Temingi later in the afternoon and headed out to find a few more choosing randomly after getting some needed supplies.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find.

Tried to find my first mailbox but there is way to much long (over my head) grass.
This was part of my road trip to Townsville, with an unexpected leave from work off I went to do a few days of caching, grabbing a few special ones along the way. This was day two of my trip and the aim was to continue grabbing some old caches and be in Townsville by lunchtime Sunday.
With one letterbox needed to complete my double loop ( 100th) of letterboxes this one was it. I had been keen for a few weeks to grab a letterbox cache but they all seemed to avoid me, but not today. So happy to find this one and an easy find to; thanks for placing this one here, with the log signed and cache replaced as found I was then on to continue north and with a big smile on my face. All good with this cache and a favourite point just because.

Hi there alphag_25.
Today we headed out from Mackay with Rainforest Cookie so we could attempt the remainder of the VC series, some of the Marlborough Trail - but we also had to find this one. As it's not part of the series it deserves a finely crafted log, not one of the crappy cut-n-paste ones that usually are associated with power trails.
We found 54 caches today & DNF'd 1. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.
