Apologies for the late log, we have just come back from a 10 day holiday in SA and Western Vic and spent as much time with family as possible so no time for logging lolWe are on holidays in SA and have spent the past 4 days catching up with JMelbs family in Adelaide (and only found 2 caches during those 4 days!!) Today (30/9) we checked out of our accommodation with the intention of finding some local caches then some of the Wandering Heroes caches on the way to Karoondah, our destination for the night. We had lunch at the Train Park at Tailem Bend and and then set off to do the Wandering Hero Caches, We found about 15 of the WH series but time was getting on so we decided we should make our way to Karoondah and check in to the Caravan Park. We then set off to find caches around the town of Karoondah and this was next. GZ was calculated and we set off and found the cache as the sun was almost setting. Photo attached. We had to come back here the next day as GMelb takes a photo of every cache he finds and files them in electronic books for each month of the year so if someone asks us for help finding a cache we can quickly locate our photo - and he forgot to take one when we found it. When we are doing a large number of caches on holidays day, each night we try to compare his photos to the notes I make, to make sure we have the same. Lucky the missing one was here and not back in Adelaide somewhere lol TFTC Gizmo's Gang - GJMMelb

Adelaide and train trip Day 14. Travel Blackwood to Hay via Karoonda, Pinnaroo and Ouyen. Eventually this time away has come to an end and it is time to head home. I chose a bit of a zig zag route through the Mallee country to visit some new bits of road and some new caches in main road towns. I did a few caches around Sherlock first before heading to Karoonda to fix up an old log and finish a multi I started earlier in the year. Next was a back road run to Pinnaroo via some old school caches. From Pinnaroo it was a straight run the Hay for a great night. I read the plaque for this back in April, so it was great to get back here to visit the cache before moving on to the west via some back roads. Thanks for the cache Gizmo's Gang44753.9 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2009 Compass Rose Gold Glossy A#156**Albida**

Suscoe was out for another day of caching with our very good friends Phetlern. It was a cloudy and rainy day at times with lots of cloud and wind. It was so different to yesterday.
We continues to found lots of caches, with finds along the Wandering Heroes trail, The Armpits series and the Ice Cream Series along with a few other nearby caches and Adventure Labs as we wandered the countryside.
We enjoyed finding these caches and we had a fun day out.

Pa and I are on the move from Pinnaroo to Karoonda. Originally I suggested a day trip out from Pinnaroo to the caches at Marama so that I could pick up another LGA. Pa noticed the Silo Art in Karoonda and so we have camped here for the night.

We arrived in time for a cuppa then took an amble up the beautiful walkway into town. After lunch I commandeered the car and set out after as many of the remaining caches around town as I could. This was one of them.

All caches were found in good condition unless a comment is made.

*Another geocaching adventure with woolwood9.*
Our main focus was on the "On Your Bike" Wherigo series, which we really enjoyed.
Biggest disappointment was solving all the Paddle Steamer puzzles, then driving within 4km of them before finding the roads all completely turned to sticky slush and unusable!
*We visited many other good caches and other trails on our trip and had a lot of fun!*

**Really appreciate the cache owners effort putting this container out.**

Loving Karoonda’s history especially here at the Yurgo Siding. Of coarse we explored the area while collecting information for this multi and a Labcache and seeking out the trad.
At GZ the hint made for an easy find.

Thanks Gizmo's Gang for the multi placement.

We flew back in from Perth and then picked up our car from the airport and are heading up to meet up with friends to have a go at the On Ya Bike series. Of course we weren't going to drive passed any caches that we happened to be coming close to and this was one of them.

This is the first time that we have ventured off the main street in Karoonda as in the past we have just pulled up at the bakery to grab a coffee or use the facilities whilst doing the Wandering Heroes. We pulled up at wpt 1 and thought that it has been a long time since this one used to be a church. We collected the required numbers, did the checksum, which agreed and then headed off to gz where the cache was located in the second place we looked and the log book now contains our name.

Many thanks Gizmo's Gang for the cache, you never know where you are going to find one of the Used 2B's.

I headed off today for a few days of caching and camping. This was on my target list of caches of interest.

The required information was soon collected and final coordinates calculated. Then it was a quick find at GZ after a short drive.

18-Feb-22
Today we moved our camp from Loxton to Karoonda doing a few caches as we traveled down the road. On arrival at Karoonda we were greeted with strong cold winds, what a change from Loxton. We stopped by our cache
Wandering Heroes - SA Friendly Cachers - GC3EFAG we would like to thank the person who has done maintenance since the last time we were able to pop by and replace the container.
While in town we had a fantastic tour around the town bought to us by the local A/L, we have seen these features before but it was wonderful to refresh our memories. We only came across one crappy bit of dirt road but how else would we know how good the rest of the dirt roads that we travelled on were otherwise.
We found the co-ords to be more than satisfactory and all caches were in good condition and did not need any maintenance.

TFTC. While completing the Adventure Lab we spied the plaque required to solve for the final GZ. Quickly worked out the final coordinates and made a find. The container was out in the open so we hid it back to match the hint.

22-Dec-21
Borders are open (sorta) and Christmas is fast approaching so this can only mean one thing, WATBAC returns to SA to spend time with family and friends. This can also only mean one thing, that a caching day out with my geomum, Doctor Owl, was long overdue and very much needed (because apparently I am not great at finding time to go caching otherwise). So I sent a text to let Doctor Owl know that I was in town and Doctor Owl let me know that she had some maintenance to do on some of her Wandering Heroes caches. Perfect, there are a lot of them that I haven't done (in that I had previously only done about 10). So off we went...

After grabbing the necessary details while doing some other nearby caches, we soon did the maths and head to GZ. I had to groan a little bit when I saw the container because in my professional life, I am doing my PhD in forensic soil science and collect lots (like frankly far too many and have a freezer half full off) of soil samples in these tubes. Admittedly though, mine usually have blue lids but that is just a brand/cost based thing. I do sometimes have red lidded tubes. Side ramble about tubes beside, it was a nice easy find and TFTC.

Having seen the original location it was nice to see this church. Careful calculations and a short drive and the cache was spotted.

Nice little church. Used 2B in another town.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

After a great trip around half the country, up the west coast to Darwin via Kunnunura, Katherine, a amazing two weeks in Darwin, out to Jabiru and Litchfield. Down the middle to Alice Springs then on to Millicent for the Geoventure2020 (in 2021).
We then hit the road to cross the WA border before it closed due to a few cases in SA.
Now we are home with a few of the major repairs finished, it is nice to have an opportunity to catch up on logging some finds that need more information as part of the logging requirements.
A huge thank you to all the COs along our travels.

Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.

14-Nov-21
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds. Surprised

That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. Cool We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series. Big Grin

This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about. Big Grin

We stopped in Karoonda for something to eat and to complete the Adventure Lab and a couple of other caches in the town including this one. Cool

Thanks for the cache Gizmo's Gang. Smile

Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.

A big day out with the JAMS crew plus two. JJ52, Allister W, mogni and sir_spectre were joined by Tallbikestan and Bratkat. We found over 300 caches sadly I had already found most so only cleaning the Wandering Heroes for me. We had to replace and repair lots and threw 3 bags of rubbish out.
Thanks to Gizmo's Gang from mogni Smile

Today was about reducing the remaining number of segments of “360° from home” as per Project GC. I have five segments left, all easterly of my home point in Gumeracha, and fortunately the Wandering Heroes series captures all five, but I won’t be going as far as Loxton today.

It’s hard to go past a Used 2B. Not a wandering Hero, but still within the desired 360° segment. Easy calculation, and I elected to drive to GZ. TFTM Gizmos Gang.

Today headed to Naracoorte took me 8 hours to get there.
Decided to detour via some country caches including a couple of new wandering heros (both lovely cachers of our community) and to Sherlock to nab the newer additions to the great series there.
Really enjoyed my drive and the hides a couple of perlas were found. Only one dnf for the day and managed to avoid the rain.
Karoonda was in full swing with local footy on wow what a difference a few hundred extra people out and about makes to the town!!
Thanks to all the hiders!!
After doing the lab caches which took longer than expected due to the footy (gate closed near to gun) I couldn’t resist a Used2B nice little church and quick find at GZ TFTC Gizmos Gang

After driving DPA down to, but not around, The Bend I set about finding what I could find in the surrounding area. Firstly it was off to Sherlock to finish off, again, The Great Detective series. Then north to Karoonda for the AdLab there and all Karoonda physical caches. Then down to Tailem Bend to fill in time until DPA needed picking up. Ended the day with the AdLab, 32 physical caches and no DNF's.
Thanks to Gizmo's Gang for putting out this cache for me to find

A plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to attack some of the caching trails down in VIC/SA. With the boarders slowly staying open we thought Easter might be a safe time to try since the QLD boarder was still too fragile to attempt going to the MEGA and it also looked like it could be rather wet there.
Our team “The Mob” consisted of GoodLook, LíB, Rapidlywild, The Drovers, feathertop and ourselves. This team ended up being very productive and some new friendships were made. Always a bonus in my book. All logs were stamped with “The Mob” to save space and time.
After completing all the trails, we had set out to do and a couple more for good measure it was time for this mob to go its separate ways.

After deciding to bail from doing the wandering heroes we looked on the map and noticed the ROTF trail. So headed out early with Rapidlywild to see what they were like. Weather was lovely and overcast and besides gaining a passenger being a rather large huntsman at one of the caches the trail went pretty smoothly.

After finishing off the ROTF trail we meandered our way back to Loxton collecting random caches of interest.
Nice easy multi to pick up on our journey. no issues with this one.

Thanks for the hide Gizmo's Gang and for the fun Rapidlywild

For the first time in a long time, it was road trip time. With COVID-19 keeping everyone at home for so long, the borders were finally opening and the feet were itchy for a decent caching trip. Plans were made with FurfacesLL to do a 10 day road trip across to Mildura and Loxton to do a heap of caching and we were excited. Across the 10 days we racked up over 4,300km in driving, multiple hotels/motels, brought home enough red dust to create our own sand pit in the back yard and collected over 1800 finds between us. It was a massive trip and lots of fun was had.

We teamed up with GoodLook, FeatherTop, The Drovers and LiB and signed most logs as "The Mob". There were a few caches which were signed as individual team names as some teams had already completed said caches, those will be noted individually.

Our target caches were the Turtle Series, the Paddle Steamer Series and the On Ya Bike wherigo Series, heaps of other caches were also collected along the way but our primary target caches were completed which made us all very happy and very tired geocachers.

With the Turtle done, the PS Series done, the On Ya Bike done, the TdU & TdF done as well as the Riddlers done, our targeted caches has been accomplished. With the teams now split and it was back to FurfacesLL and myself, we had heaps to choose from. Yesterday we did some Wandering Heroes caches which were time consuming. Today we chose to head further south and do the ROTF series instead.

Picked this one up after finishing off the ROTF series. Decided to do the multi while in town, nice easy multi to do and another "Used 2B a Church" cache ticked off. No issues with the find, signed and replaced.

Thanks for the hides Gizmo's Gang Big Grin And thanks FurfacesLL for a trip to remember [^].

Apologies for the late logging.

I enjoyed an amazing and busy... yet relaxed week away with GoodLook... just what I needed ??
We met up and cached with interstate teams... The Drovers, FurfacesLL,
Rapidlywild and feathertop. Mostly we signed or stamped as "The Mob" and some with our individual stamps.
This cache was found on the homeward leg of a fantastic geo-vacation.
I recognise the effort in placing and maintaining geocaches for us to find and it is greatly appreciated.

Multi completed with LíB.

Most of the caches we found during our geo-vacation are stamped as The Mob (consisting of The Drovers, LíB, FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, feathertop and myself), however a handful contain our own caching names or initials. So pleased we had a group of experienced cachers including tree and ladder climbers, AND a 7.5m ladder AND a 12m telescopic pole! We found every cache in this series.

The various series we tackled during this trip included: The Paddle Steamer, The Turtle, On Your Bike, Around the World, The TdU, The TdF and some Roonka puzzles put out for a June Long Weekend some time ago. Plus many random caches that we passed.

2020 was not a great year, and the beginnings of 2021 have also been tricky - so when it looked like the various borders would be open again (without quarantine restrictions), a trip was spontaneously planned and I was able to pull together a number of my caching friends who hadn't cached together before to form "The Mob".

LíB and I started in SA, drove to Victoria and ended our trip in SA; FurfacesLL and Rapidlywild came from Canberra and The Drovers began their journey from NSW; and then a few days later, feathertop from Victoria, joined us to complete the On Your Bike Series and other caches in SA.

We filled our days with piling in cars, hard core caching, Adventure Labs, crazy funny CB radio chatter, some laughter, some tense moments (OMG some of the ladder and tree climbs on this trip were crazy!), lots of lovely meals and even live music from a band called "Kung Fu Jesus" - nope, that is no joke.

We had hot weather each day (well into 30s), so I am thrilled that I now own a car fridge to keep the drinks icy cold (loving them at about 1 degree celcius).

A sincere thanks to for placing this multi cache.

Arrived at the given co-ords, and enjoyed our walk around Pioneer Park.
Collected the required information and did the calculations.
Then it was off to GZ, where the cache was found quickly.
We signed the log, and replaced as found.

Many thanks for placing this cache, Gizmo's Gang, for us and others to find.

Having done the trad and adventure lab stage, I was in the right spot to grab the details required and calculate the coordinates. After walking to the AL Bouns, I then took the short drive to this one where I found it in the second spot I looked.

Thanks for the cache Gizmo's Gang.
Found on 5/3/21 at 12:59.

Grabbed this cache with CPwanderer & Gizmo's Gang,
as we drove back from the Riverland.
There were two new caches in the area,
so of course the other one, then had to be located.
Thanks for the cache & the multi Gizmo's Gang
