This cache location does not seem to be working. So I will archive this cache. Hopefully I or another geocacher will do something about the war memorial.
We sadly must agree with Coconuts 3. We could not locate the cache despite the excellent hints. We later returned to the nearby fish and chip shop for chinese takeaways.
Gutted to have to say we couldn't find this one, especially after maintenance by CO. Both tried as per hint, searched thru bush to post and came up with nothing sorry.
Replaced with standard size camo bison. So hopefully less risk of it getting dropped in future
Driveby find - my uncle was the Postmaster at the nearby former Post Office way, way back in the day - TFTC
Nearly missed it. Just about to leave and spotted in out the corner of my eye. Having the replacement log made it easier to assemble. Thanks
Found with StreetWalkerNZ as we travel south to Dunedin from Christchurch.
We had driven past GZ a few times since this cache was placed, so thought it was about time to stop and have a look. There was a great parking spot just past GZ (travelling south) and the cache was quickly found with the good hint.
No log book, so we put in a scrap of paper as a temp log. Unfortunately, both this and the cache were dropped while replacing [:I}. SW bravely hopped down into the creek to retrieve and everything put back together again. TFTC.

#21983. It didn't take too long to spot the cache. When I opened it there was no log, so Troodles tore a trip of paper off and signed it. I didn't fold it very well, and had trouble getting the cache back together, and eventually fumbled it and dropped the base of the container into the creek, where it landed on in the mud. Bugger. I found my way down to next to the creek, and tried to retrieve it using a magnetic thingy, but the cache container seemed to contain no iron, so I had to get into a position where I could reach down and grab it.Second time round I did a better job of folding the temporary log, and reassembled the cache without incident. Phew! TFTC.
Had found the original one here a while back so decided to retrieve this cache too.

After driving past many times, today we stopped for this most recent cache here. A very effective way of hiding it!
Thanks pirateking for finding old log cache container was there. Everything all together with new log ready for next finder. Bushes bit overgrown on path now but all accessible
Only the log found. Have signed and placed under a bottle cap next to post. Tftc
I wonder if it has been dropped, well the logroll at least? Cache found and signed on small folded logsheet. Replaced as per description. Tftc
Well like eve07, we also had the problem of the log falling out and down the bank. Unlike eve07 we weren't prepared to go down after it (couldn't even see it) so put a replacement log piece of paper in, So apologies Natalie and further cachers, the cache is complete but without the original log book.
Taking a break in Karitane and working in a challenge so found this before drinks and a meal with Frame Family to see the new year in.
Quick cache with Kerynz for her 30 caches in a row streak. Easy find this time, never did find the previous one. TFTC.
I am sure I have stopped here for a cache once or twice before but always happy for another smiley. It took us a couple of minutes to realise what the hint meant and then a quick find taking care not to 'lose' the cache in the water. Found with Spoonz2
Great care required here so that the fiddly little thing didn't go for an unplanned swim, but we managed it. Thanks Natalie.
Every time I go past this spot I think about grabbing this one but since I'm out this way caching tonight this was my big chance. All was quiet on the road and I quickly ran across the road to find this cache. I found it soon enough and unscrewed the cache. I signed the log and then...OH NOOOOO.....!!!!!! the end of the cache falls down towards the bank by the smelly water. Well I'm in a real pickle here... Can't tell CO that I lost part of her hide and I swallow hard and squeeze myself down the bank. OMG how am I going to find this??!! All I can think of is moonboots with what's been happening lately with a couple of local geocachers. Trying hard to keep my balance - because I have been in this predicament before - and it didn't end up well. Maneuvering and trying to find this tiny piece of cache seemed impossible...and then...yep in the sludge I go. Oh buggar!! I'm swinging like a monkey with what ever I can grab and trying to stay on task here. After about 5 minutes I found what I was looking for, and joyfully I held on tight to navigate back up again to find the log had dropped out of the lid. This is not possible!! Back down I go and rummage around with no luck. Finally found it on top of the bank where I'm sure it wasn't before I had to scrambled down. Holding on to the 2 pieces like the crown jewels I finally shut the container and squeeze myself out again. My clothes are not in good shape so it's time to get back home. TFTC Natalie247 I definitely won't forget this one!
Last cache today. Thought it was a little small when I called in here on my trip north but figured I just need glasses as the cache was in fact complete.
Pleased to find the log today and add my geocaching tag to the tiny log.
Thanks Natalie247 for bringing me here. Interesting memorial. And pleased to have added a smiley

Jude spotted it and fished it out. I unrolled it, wrote on it and rerolled it .Jude_E and I are on another road trip. We stayed in Dunedin last night and are heading back. We are only going to Waimate today with lots of stops and this has been one of them. Thanks for hiding this cache Natalie247 I appreciate it.
On a caching trip to the Dunedin area with Nosynel. I'm sure I have done a cache here previously. A quick find. No drama! Thanks for the cache.

As the country enters Level 4 (lockdown), https://covid19.govt.nz
It is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces and geocaching should not be done at this time; https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand
To remove temptation, I am disabling this cache and ask kindly that you do not find this cache during lockdown.
Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. Or if you live near a multi you can walk the trail and save the find for another day. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.

A quick find here today while travelling past. No fish caught but the hunt was still worth it. TFTC [^]
Nice quick find on my way to Oamaru. Of course with ones like this always takes ten times as long to replace the log!!! Read the names on the memorial while doing so and very glad my Grandfather who lived close by was not one of them and he safely returned...although it was after spending 2 years in a POW Camp in Italy TFTC Natalie247
Found it but couldn’t get log out as didn’t have anything thin enough to pry it out if its snug container. great hiding spot!
A nice quick find thanks. I remember the previous incarnation, with luck this will last a bit longer.
Ms_KR and I are on the road to Southland to finish off the Southern PW GeoTour. Time to head off home. We had an unexpectedly fine week weather wise, and a great time overall.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Came through early this morning on my way home from spending the long weekend in Nelson. All quiet here so quickly found in the dark. Tftc
Came down to the South Island nearly a week ago and have driven from Chch all the way around the bottom of the South Island to Milford Sound . . . . . did a cruise and am now driving back to Chch. Quick find here today as we drive toTimaru today. TFTC
On a three week trip to the lower South Island with tmann421 hunting caches.

I love being able to come back to the same location to find a rehide. This is at least the third time to this little arch. TFTC
Heading back up north, first cache of the day. Had a good fish and caught a slippery one - and returned because it was so small. Tftc!
Out and about doing some cache maintenance of our caches and thought we'd collect a couple of extras while we were passing. Nice hide TFTC
Another day doing the caching rounds. Decided to stick a bit closer to where we are staying today and try to clean this area up.
Had time to read every single name while waiting for traffic to clear enough to grab and return the cache. I wonder if I'm related to a couple of the names. tftc

This is the third cache I have found here at this Memorial Arch. Its a fun one too. TFTC # 16,414
On our way homewards from Dunedin to Christchurch today. We stopped in Waikouaiti for breakfast. After breakfast I wandered along the road to this cache. Found as per the description and hint. TFTC, Biggles.
I'm always worried I'm going to drop something on caches like this. All good, took it slow and returned it in one piece. Thanks for the hide Natalie247

I had found the previous nano mentioned by the CO. Stopped while heading south. Replacement is riskier than retrieval in preventing the loss of the log sheet. Thanks for the placement.
We quickly spotted the cache, although retrieval and replacement was a little nerve wracking. TFTC
Third time lucky in Waikouaiti!
Didn’t have to do any fishing or pulling lines so easier than the description implies. Fortunately did not drop it into the creek.. Went into the adjacent pottery gallery in the old Post Office. Some really nice pieces. TFTC

A bit of a fishing thisafternoon with the neighbours stereo playing really loud awful music!
It is good to see a cache placed at this memorial although I must admit my heart sunk when I saw the container but surprisingly I did not manage to drop it!
After a short Period (thank goodness) the log was signed.
Thanks

FTF at about 9:40am. I was only out this way yesterday with Napoleon_Solo! The cache popped up literally as I was preparing to head out on my usual Sunday morning ride. With a couple of possible FTFs available I decided that other FTF hunters would probably head to the other cache that came up at the same time, out at Brighton, because it was closer. So I headed north. Once out at Waitati the low cloud over Dunedin disappeared and it was a glorious, blue sky day. The cache was spotted immediately and the FTF was in hand. I recall the previous hide here (in fact, I think there has been more than one previous cache here over the years). Having returned the cache I checked the phone and, sure enough, the Brighton cache had been snaffled. So the right choice was made. Back to town taking the less direct route around the coast and over the Mt Cargill road and was soon back to the dreary cloud over the city. TFTC.
