In the area mainly to complete the Anna Tommy series. But Im happy to find any cache along the way. Rented a bike at the Gawler Visitor Info Centre. Did 36 km total. And always into the wind. No problems here.
I have not had any decent exercise while I have been in Australia so I decided to do this series. Borrowed Skuzzybear's bike and headed off.Oh was that ever a mistake. I started here, at Patog 111 and got as far as 61 where I aborted. It's 35 degrees, I had 2L of water and was nearly out when I got to Patog 61. But it was not till I was half way back that I worked out the other problem - I was right out of fuel. I had been eating very little while here, and I suspect I am right out of free carbs, and was probably running on fats which take longer to process. No wonder I felt knackered! Also, so many of the caches need maintenance. I noted them in my notebook to add to the logs, but stopped after a while. Many of these tubes are broken/lost their caps. Or missing. and/or problems with the log sheet. I have put a needs maintenance on this cache, not to say that this cache needs maintenance (it doesn't) but as a reminder for the series as a whole.Maintenance needed on: 109, 105, 102, 95, 92, 87, 86, 85, 80. The last few are DNFs. One of them is just me, so it is possible it is still there. After 80 I gave up noting the maintenance, but as you see, it is about 1 in 3 caches that need a bit of help. So, to make a long story short, if it was 15-20 degrees cooler and there was some maintenance done, this would be a great series. And it has definitely got me covered for that bit of exercise I was craving!
Found with Pprime` as part of our Mega Leapday adventure.Thankyou for the entertainment here.
Found with T4mmmy on our Leap Mega Adventure. Thanks equipe de cinq for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #12229}*
The Great Leap Forward event day was finally here so with chooknchunk we set off caching chasing different cache types all the while visiting some very interesting locations.Needing a find in the Light LGA for a personal challenge we headed here just to grab 1 cache. The bull bar came in handy for us shorties in reaching the cache. Thanks equipe de cinq for the placement.
Boy, do I immensely appreciate power trails like this one to increase my geocaching find count!Greetings from the UK and Happy New Year!

The magnet is not strong enough to hold cache up high so it's now low so the wind doesn't blow it off GZ.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 44. Mid North section of SA trip Day 15. Gawler Day 3. The weather was quite a bit better then the last few days, and it was time to get out on the bike trails to do some PATOG caches. I managed to go too far for my poor scooter and had to walk the last three km's back to the car. Other than that today's section of trail went pretty well, much better than sections later in the week. After that exercise was over, I went onto some back roads for solved puzzles and other miscellaneous caches I was able to get to before I ran out of energy.
Thanks for the cache equipe de cinq

This was our first find of the day on our caching morning with alisonborgas74. It was a lovely day for an amble along the NEXY bike trail. Us mums had a leisurely chat while the geokids did the hunting. A quick find and the first of 11 finds in the patog series today. TFTC
Goldy is back out for a drive around Nuriootpa, Lyndoch and Gawler to get a step closer to 3000 finds before Sunday.
I started the day with the Blair Athol event for breakfast before heading on my way out north.
I also swung by Geostuff for some more goods.
Shoutout to unssy who let me borrow their pole for the day to get some higher terrain caches.
I ended up with 13 caches, 6 adventure lab locations, 1 event attended and 2 D/T spots filled.
A quick find here today.
Thanks equipe de cinq for this cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 2952 on the 19th of April 2023.
I have hosted quite a few CITO's in my time, making huge differences thanks to the people who came along!
Whether you're out finding caches or just taking a stroll somewhere, remember to always be CITO-ing to help maintain our parks and reserves!

Day 12, week 2 of 5 weeks holiday.
Rockhampton Queensland to all over South Australia.
14 degrees, feels like 10 (there’s that lovely cutting wind back again)
Apologies, there is going to be a lot of copy/paste today.
I have decided to walk the trail of caches while Buttons goes and does a McClouds Daughters tour nearby.
What better use I could put my time to than wandering down a highway while I wait.
Hope she can find me when she’s done. ??
Cache found, log signed (on the back, as it’s full) and replaced.

Found by brisal5, TeamAstro, thewhitedoggang and Featherwaite, signing the logsheets with the acronym BAWF. Being cool, cloudy, no rain and with light winds, it proved a great day for a ride along the bikeway. Thanks for the cache and series equipe de cinq!
GENERIC LOGS FOR PATOG series! [8)][8)][8)]
Time to attack the PATOG series. [^] So the calls were made to find a group to take on the ride and a group of brisal5, Astro, WhiteDogGang and Featherwaite were available. So the acronym BAWF was formed to sign the logs. We chose Tuesday 8/6/2021 to make the ride but the forecast of a thunderstorm, continuous rain and howling winds caused the newly formed BAWF to balk and we delayed until Friday 11/6/21! [B)][B)] What a great day for a ride, overcast, a nice cool breeze and not a drop of rain to be felt. All caches were found in good condition except, one that needed a new cap (done) and one that needed replacing. (also done) Great day had but I felt like BAWFing by the end! [:o)][:o)][:o)][:o)]
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks equipe de cinq for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

A small detour on the Southbound trip after a very pleasant few hours around the Barossa. Not often I get down to SA, so it was nice to not only be here, but to have great weather and enjoy the Wine region. [^]
Pulled up within 1m of GZ and spotted the container immediately. No need for a gadget to locate this container. Name was added to the log equally as quickly and everything returned as found.
Cheers equipe de cinq.

"A cache a day keeps the doctor away" - a pretty good fitness plan for 2021!
------------
- - Search at a good social distance whenever you can - or at least with nice clean friends - -
Things are slowly getting back to whatever normal might be - take it carefully!
Catching covid or gastro or anything really would mess up your streaks and challenges!
Keep away from all the nasty bugs ( except nice travel bugs of course ) Move them on!
[|)] - 2, 4, 6, 8,,, let's all go and vaccinate, one day when it's available lol !
[|)] - keep away from crowds as much as you can, they spread those nasty bugs! [:o)]
[|)] - go out and find or place some new caches in our safe country areas away from bugs!!
Life's good. Enjoy ! ! ! Cache the countryside

First for the day and it's always good to start with a find .
This is the third series of caches we've found along the NEXY [|)] and it's been awhile since we've ridden the bike track . Have to say the place is looking like a dump these days (with enough bags and buckets lying around to clean it up as well) [:(!].

Claiming a cache find as part of the awesome beta testing cache placing crew for this super fun cycling series. All of the PATOG caches in the series have been found many times so our work must have been good. Kudos to anyone who does the full end to end ride in one session and collects them all. If you run it or walk it then you get extra bonus kudos.
Eventually some time in the future when the rail access is restored to Gawler it will be possible to catch the train to Port Adelaide, ride with the wind to Gawler, and catch the electric train home. From Patog one to Patog eleventy first. That would be awesome.

Easter 2020 was supposed to see South Australia Geocaching hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Due to COVID restrictions the event is now postponed to early October 2021. Check out the event page and our website for new details. We would love to see you at this four day event. Mega event sponsored by Wattle Range Council, Geocaching.com and many other supporters. Lots of caches to find with two classic geo art trails including the famous animated bottle and glass.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Big walk today along the PATOG trail. Another 20’or so ticked off the list almost half way now. So that means I’ve almost walked to Gawler from Port Adelaide now, seems slightly mental. Hopefully will get the series done this winter.
Was a nice day for a walk until the banana cake energy wore out then had to pop into Gawler for an energy refuel and to get my target multi for the day.
Big day out for only 25 finds was shattered by the time I got home but think the exercise did me good. TFTC PATOG crew.

Out for a long bike ride with Uni and Medusa along the Northen Expressway and beyond. We parked a vehicle at each end and took the mountain bikes along the trails - 48.9kms and 115 caches in around 5 hours.
The bike trail allows one to see a lot more at 20kmh than whizzing past in a car at 110kmh. There is interesting WWII history in amongst the market gardens and salt flats. I really enjoyed the massive redgums and lushness around the Gawler River. On a hot day one would want to take plenty of water, there isn't a lot of shade or facilities along some of the stretches.
This cache was found at 1:29:00 PM and was 112 of 116 finds today.
Apologies for the generic log but it is a powertrail. Thanks equipe de cinq

I cant drive for 2 weeks and CPWanderer suggested a wander to collect a few of these. Well, perfect conditions, and a borrowed pup, good navigation and parking allowed us to find quite a few of this series, starting near Gawler. I had started many years ago, with CP and never finished the Nexy series, so some were areas were deja vu. I had a few problems on my FTF hunt on publication date so grabbed a stick for the higher ones, but it was only needed once. I continued to carry it, as my insurance policy, but didnt need it. Was surprised to see crops of roses, almonds and olives? along the section we did today. A few bikes and would have really loved to have grabbed a ride on the ATV that was also sharing the path, weeding. We agreed bikes would be easier, and our thoughts turn how to tackle the rest of the series. A nice social day out (when I couldnt be enticed to overuse my hand at home) and even sweeter given Im on sick leave
