Taking a slow drive home from Albury. Im on my own so Im getting some caches in on the way. A beautiful night for it. Cache is all good, tftc.
Matho64 and I are on our way home from Shepparton and checked out the solar farms. At GZ it was a quick and easy find.TFTC Harrowang
Late this afternoon we headed south from Wangaratta but used an old road parallel to the Hume Freeway. Along the way we saw the extensive solar panel arrays and also noticed that there were two caches highlighting the solar farms. This was one of them.Despite accurate coordinates it took a few minutes of hunting before this cache was located - the tumble weeks had made excellent cover over the cache and we did not find it until we hit it with our walking pole. Although the outside of the substantial container had rusted somewhat, the inside and the cache it contained were in excellent condition. Thanks Harrowang for the cache highlighting the solar farms in the area.
Day out caching with the kids. I missed this one but found eldest l by the eldest! Lo to s of swaps for the kids TFTC
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying in Wangaratta to visit friends and explore the local area. Today we decided to visit Glenrowan and do some Ned Kelly historical stuff. Of course we used Geocaching as our guide. The NKH series was our primary objective but of course there were plenty of other caches that jumped out at us along the way. All we found today had good coords, some logs were a little damp but nothing unsignable.TFTC Harrowang [^]
So after Mr ILT spotted an ekans at the previous cache while Mrs ILT was taking pics of a really cool Golden Orb she saw, it was her turn to retrieve the cache. She found a huge stick and proceeded to belt the grass like crazy. After spotting the cache she had to cautiously walk around to get the cache all the whole being totally paranoid. Log was signed as fast as she possibly could and replaced the cache. As she walked out she felt something hit the back of her leg! She jumped and bolted back to the car. She discovered it was the large stick she threw on the ground that attacked her. Thanks for the jump scares Harrowang!
Found our way to the cache on our way home form our stay in the high country. So pleased it was a large container as the grass was quite long. We often wonder when we travel past, just how they are going to maintain the grass under the solar panels. The best suggestion was to run sheep or goats. Thanks for this one Harrowang
Find 4485 on December 30, 2023Found on our holiday that took us from Ballarat to Sale. Then over the mountains to Dinner Plain and then Myrrhee for a couple more nights. Today we focussed on the Greta and Milawa areas. Cache is in fantastic condition.TFTC Harrowang
First day, Benalla to Ballarat. Beautiful start of the day, lots of caches and labs. Thanks to all the CO for their hides. J+J.au
First day of a little road trip to Victoria. Travelling from the Illawarra via Batemans Bay to Benalla. Lots of driving and only a few little detours and stops to pick up caches.TFTC Wilbert67
After today's FishAttack caching on Lake William Hovell, I bid farewell to my fellow kayakers and headed via a roundabout route back to Wangaratta where I was staying tonight. In order to avoid the long queue of cars through Glenrowan, caused by an accident on the freeway, after my last cache, I headed further south to this cache. Found it nice and quickly. By the time I dilly dallied a bit going further south, and then returned to Glenrowan, the queue had disappeared. My thanks for the cache, Harrowang.
How impressive are these solar farms? A lot of work has gone into this project, and I hope it does everything the designers hoped for in cleaning up our world. The container is in excellent condition, with just a few ants caring for it.Thanks Harrowang.
Sometimes I think people must think I have a weak bladder when I duck behind a bush to sign a log. Lol.
Ground is a bit muddy but cache is dry. Tftc

Out and about today exploring the area with Geowife and Geodogs having a cracker day. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Found at 10:35am. Wow! what a colossal windfarm. We found this neat cache without much bother and signed log, thanks to our chauffeurs and thanks for the cache.
On our way home from a weekend away and decided to take an alternative route alongside the freeway here to pick up a couple of hides. It was getting quite dark by the time I arrived so thankfully the cache was quite large and easy to spot. These solar farms are huge, I don't think I've noticed them here before. Thanks for the cache Harrowang.

Nice little trip with the GeoKids and our niece. Easy find, the kids were super impressed! Biggest one we’ve found in a long while. TFTC
Heading to Wangaratta after spending the day at Winton Raceway grabbing a couple of caches on the old highway as I went. Parked right opposite GZ and had the cache in hand quickly. Good to see the work being done here on solar and thanks to Harrowang for the cache highlighting this.
Heading home from the Rutherglen Mega Event I was driving past this cache so I stopped to make the find.
Found on our journey home from the Rutherglen mega, thanks for the cache
Took nothing left nothing signed log

A quick maintenance check on these two solar farm caches whilst working in the area. All good with the cache and contents and the TB is resting comfortably.

After completing half of my mission yesterday, It was now day and it was time to find a few caches in the Benalla LGA before heading to the centre of the Wangaratta LGA and then moving on to Craig’s Hut for a CITO.
As I was passing by this one so I had to stop, headed over to GZ and found the cache but it was open, after stamping the log I realised the problem when I went to close it, one side of the latch was bent and it wouldn’t close so I headed back to the car, grabbed some pliers and bent it back into shape, well enough so it would stay closed.
**Thanks to Harrowang for placing this cache.**

We decided that this would be the bookend cache for our Canberra trip. A solar farm on the way north and now a solar farm on the way south.
We have been quite taken by these solar farms and so on the way home we took a break from the highway to enjoy a two way road and a country pace.
Another good hide.
Thanks to Harrowang for this hide.
They are impressive structure spread out across the paddocks.
A favourite for being the last cache for the trip and for the location.

Caching on my way to Melbourne today. A quick find here today. Nice big cache ! Ya!! Tftc!
Whittlesea Mega Trip Day 2. Holbrook to Whittlesea. I thought I had lots of time today, but wow is it easy to spend. I spend two hours doing the Labs, Lab Bonus and Multi IN Holbrook before heading onwards and southwards. I did a few rest areas and a few clusters of caches along roads parallelling th highway, but I only managed to get into the Whittlesea Show grounds just before the first event. The social event was fun and then there were a few extra caches to get once it was dusk. A great, if long day.
The next detour off the highway took me to three caches along the solar farm road. Three great caches.
Thanks for the cache Harrowang

No water across the road today, so got to check these two solar farm caches. All good. With all the rain recently, we hope you have added gumboots to your geocaching TOTTs.
With the rest of the family in Sydney and a busy few weeks coming up at work I decided last week to have a day off to go caching. Looked at the map and initially thought about Shepparton but then saw an intriguing collection at Mount Major so that became my target. Picked what would be a sunny day (was raining when I left Albury but was fine most of the day - though very windy). In the end a successful day with 26 caches found and one DNF. Turned out to be a Team BGF day.
A couple of Harrowang caches to start the day. Was a little wet but all good here. This and the next solar farm sprung up over Covid. We saw it for the first time on a trip to Melbourne earlier this year.

Same again Way too wet. All the ground around it was under water today. I’ll come back when it’s hotter and drier and risk the snakes instead
On my way to Melb for work training tomorrow. With plenty of time up my sleeve I decided to cherry pick some caches along the way being a beautiful Spring day.
A huge solar farm ! And a nice big cache to match. Well stocked, and it good condition.

Wow, that's a lot of solar panels! Nice to read some local future, as opposed to the history. Cache well stocked and an easy find. Perfect. Thanks for putting this together.
Very well done neat and tidy and well presented thank you very much for the cacha
A new waterproof container, a dried out log book and lots of swaps to sort through. Back in place and ready for finding. Have fun.
Disabling this one for the time being while we sort out a way to keep the moisture out.
Found today Mothers Day @9:10 am
After spending the night at Benalla.
Thanks for placing it here, the Solar farm is huuuge the way of our future. The log signed bag very torn and book wet because of it, replaced with a new bag but had to put the wet log in to it.
Thanks

Spent a couple of days caching with Bogonghazy around Corowa. Finding a couple of geocaches on our way home. Thanks Harrowang for placing the geocache
On the way home from a couple of refreshing days in Corowa with LittleBoss2, we decided to do a few caches. Great cache, adding a fave, thanks Harrowang
Catching up on some very late logs, now that I have time, while travelling.
Wow it is some time since coming down this way. So many solar panels, along these paddocks.
It was a quick find, once at GZ.
Thanks for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoyed finding it.

This would be a really fun kid friendly cache! Love the design and had to use the clue until I realised there was a clear geotrack. TFTC ! Looking forward to more big ones around the area!
Quick little stop and find. Always gets my heart going abit being in the tall grass but was ok. Tftc
We are still being distracted with cache icons on our map as we head south. A ‘slight’ detour at the Winton turn off had us headed back north for the 2 Solar Farm trads.
This was a well themed cache, a favourite point added.

On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird or Angry Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC Harrowang

Today we found Glenrowan West Solar Farm on our travels. We are meandering our way home from the Wangaratta Mega. 373,000! Quite an impressive number of solar panels all baking in the sun today.
Thanks Harrowang for being part of our geocaching fun.

Making our way back to Melbourne, we detoured a little here and there. This was worth turning off for! Nicely themed container. We followed the geotrail to GZ.
Thanks Harrowang
I had been set to attend another Victorian Mega but the damn pandemic began and for obvious reasons one was cancelled and one was postponed. I was pleased the postponed Wangaratta event went ahead but have to admit I was still apprehensive about the COVID situation. Although attending all events, (except 1 of the CITOs) keeping distance was still a priority. I had a great time touring with 1TOOLMAN and Budgietas although there was an empty void where SSR should have been.
As well as Wangaratta, we visited The Paps, Mt Buller, Benalla, Glenrowan, Winton and even popped in to Lex country, having dinner at Brady’s Railway Hotel. Our find numbers were low but our laugh count was high so I call that a win!

Wow these solar farms are IMMENSE OUT HERE ??
A GREAT CONTAINER that will last Well, and clever effort on the outside.
Very cool and lovely to see effort put into caches,
Also timely as our phones were running flat so we plugged into the cache and topped up on the run !
Cheers
FAV point for me for the effort.

Another great cache container on the drive back to Melbourne airport from the Mega
--------------------------------------------------------
The Mega in Victoria I had always planned to attend, but due to covid changes I was concerned, I wouldn’t be able to due to work commitments. As these commitments cleared up, I planned to go over and catch up with GoosenEgg, Stainless Steel Rat, and 1Toolman while in Wangaratta for a day caching to attempt to find 100 in one day. As things turned out Stainless Steel Rat was unable to go, so I was invited to join GoosenEgg and 1Toolman for the entire period. 1Toolman collected us from the airport and we immediately drove to Victoria’s 1st Geocache. From there during the 4 days, we visited Wangaratta, Mt Buller, Albury, Wodonga, Benella, Glenrowan, and Beechworth (although we didn’t make the bakery much to 1Toolmans disgust)
The trip was less about numbers and more about visiting places that I had only driven through before. We did manage to complete the Ned Kelly Helmet series and find a great Earthcache at Murmungee Lookout and another cache at “The Paps” which gave tremendous views of the area. The GPS maze, which I must say was one of the greatest attractions was also attended as with another cacher I was first through on the Saturday Morning at 8.15. It was great to get this icon on my profile.
Of the trip, it was certainly hot and humid, but we really didn’t get rained on in any serious way, with the major storm passing through at night time, otherwise it was just hot or very hot depending on the time of the day.

Day 2 of the Mega for LuckyL10n and myself and after grabbing one or two more caches in Wang, we headed down to the NKH series to finish these off before heading off to Echuca on our round trip to Mildura before heading home.
On the way to Echuca we grabbed another 20 odd caches, while also visitng some of the silo art around the area as well Lake Mokoan for a few caches in there. A couple of interesting features were spotted, a bit of history learnt and a few dirt tracks where the AWD preformed very well.
Thanks to all the CO's of the caches we found. Most logs were signed SDL and L.L10n.

#12899 - 12:58:00 PM; Day 2 of the Wang Mega tour with Sol de lune. Returned to the Mega venue this morning to catch up with a few fellow cachers. The plan was then to hit the road to collect a couple more caches in town before heading out to finish off the Ned Kelly Helmet series (almost!), then to points south and west, with Echuca our proposed destination for the evening on our way to our furthest destination in Mildura. Finished off NKH and after grabbing lunch in Glenrowan, we were now headed further afield. No problems here and our names were soon in the log. TFTC Harrowang

After driving through this area and exploring many trails and collecting some geocaches, we took this road back into Glen Rowan to stop at lunchtime.
We had no idea there would be so many solar farms in his area, and was surprised at the large area around us.
We found the home, and had a good chuckle to the theme. We took nothing, but did enjoy exploring the company which have such lovely reference to the area here.

Yahoo, I finally made it to the Wangaratta MEGA. Today I teamed up with Domsky and spent the day trekking around the countryside. We bumped into the Canberra girls and decided to cache the morning together. First was the NKH series, we signed the logs as QLDT and capc capital crunchers, there may even be a chamad stamp in a few, lol.
It was a great drive around and to see some really beautiful countryside down here. We continued on caching around town and around Glenrowan.
I am blown away by the history and the beautiful areas. Thank you so much for bringing me here, I had a fantastic day.

I’m ducking home for a few days to check on the menagerie of animals we have before going back up to Punka to continue our holiday leading up to the Wang Mega.
The kids didn’t want to get out of the car with me as the grass was too long for their liking. I had to use a stick to swish away some dreaded cobwebs before spotting the cache nicely tucked away.
We had a look and chat about the solar panels here. They sure do get enough hot sun out here. It’s a scorcher today.
Thank you for the cache here Harrowang ??

Another vast solar farm and another great sized cache.
After a short trip to Tumut to catch up with family and friends it was time to head for home today.
It had rained all night last night and was still raining as we left. This continued all the way until we reached Wodonga where it began to fine up. This meant we had no opportunity to look for any caches en route until then, but we still were organized to look on the remainder of the journey. We managed to find a number of traditionals, some of good size, a pre-solved puzzle and an Adventure Lab in Healsville.
They broke up the journey well!
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Harrowang.

This solar farm and its neighbour just south sure look impressive [:o]
But why are they being built on productive farmland me wonders ?? !!
I'd rather eat lamb or beef, even goat, than trying to chew on electricity
Sure the world is hungry for energy,
but you won't get fat on it [:o)]

Decided on some caching today after working very hard in the garden yesterday! Took TB and left a different one. TFTC
Stopped by this morning to add a few more solar swaps. TB is still resting comfortably waiting for someone to take it on further adventures. Apple tree is bursting into leaf.
You could say ditto…It’s been amazing watching this massive solar project develop. Did not take any TB. Finally had an opportunity to veer off the highway to get a closer look. Great spot. Sorry a tad late - a post lockdown clean up of drafts? TFTC and the motivation!
Driving home from Benalla after some FTF chasing fun, we stopped for a maintenance check on this one. A bit of water lying around after all the recent rain, and even a bit of water in the container as well! Log book quite dry in its zip lock bag. We dried everything out and put a few moisture absorbing gel packs in to stop the condensation. We also left a TB for the next visitor. And now it is time to head for home after a sunny day filled with all sorts of caching adventures.
A nice quick P&G while driving through the area. Aptly themed as well. Inside of cache appears to be collecting condensation but cache log is dry thanks to its bag.

We've escaped from home for a few days -the first break for at least three years.
Day five -the trip home, via the long road.
Thank you, Harrowang, for this cache.

A new cache in the Winton Wetlands - Mokoan area[?][:X]
Sounds like a great reason to go spend some time up there![^][^]
Especially since I have a heap of new geocaches there to find and an adv lab to do too![^][:X][^]
Not much else would make me get up that early[|)]
Rex and I found our first cache at 7.32am[|)] and our last of the 23 finds at about 10pm on our way home[|)]
Huge day but a gorgeous one[:X][^][:X]
Finally got to stop and find this 'off the main road' cache! [^][^] Even though it was in darkness (that's not unusual for us) however we still enjoyed it [^]
It did take me a few minutes to work out exactly where GZ was
Ok, I was tired[|)][|)][|)], I mean it was 9.38pm and we'd been on the go since the early hours of the day[|)][|)]
