Out and about with dad (n0w0rries) for the day.Following on from our First to Find in Baxter earlier today we are now doing some maintenance on his 6,000 Letterbox. An excellent little adventure. This is our first LBH find. Thanks Dad. (Although I reckon he brought me along to climb the tree.)
Today I was joined by my youngest Son, LyonsPride3, as well as surefoot24 and TEM during a maintenance run.Following up on a reported issue with the first lock.I have replaced this unit, although there wasn't anything actually wrong with the original.Somehow, the reset switch had been knocked from position "B" to "A".When this happens the safe will not close properly. Please be aware of this mechanism when closing the safe. Thank you, n0w0rries - RodDropped a couple of travellers. "[Firefighter](https://coord.info/TB883H3)" & "[Robin and ALL THAT](https://coord.info/TB7F1XZ)"
Out and about caching after Id been to a dentist appointment in Dandenong this morning. I cant waste a trip off The Island. While eating lunch at Cardinia Reservoir The CO and Lyon Pride 3 ricked up. N0w0rries guided us to the cache saving time, but it was easy to do with so many different ways to follow the instructions. What a wonderful cache it was. The imagination of the CO put a magical touch to the cache. Between ourselves LyonsPride3 and I found the various parts of the cache at GZ. Definitely worth a favourite point here!
A beautiful Spring-ish day, so RoamingHowie and I decided to head out to Cardinia for some much needed fresh air and sunshine. We were heading to this one on our way out, however we found the gate locked - but we were on the inside! So we parked up, and wandered up to the "hut". OK, what are we counting? Those? OK... 1 2 3...We kinda of used both methods for the rest of the story. RH doing the projection thing, while I "winged it" a bit. We both arrived at gz and found the lock already open. Then the nice-sized cache was not far behind. Once we placed our names in the logbook, we returned everything to where they belong. A quick call to the CO to confirm one of the steps, before making our way back to the geovehicle to head home.A clever "imaginitive" letterbox cache. A fav point heading your way. Thanks for bringing me here by placing this cache, n0w0rries ~~
Melbourne is putting on the sunshine yet again and it was too good to be at home. After a morning visit to see my niece, I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to find some caches out in the south east. The day was almost over and after hitting a roadblock at the locked exit gate nearby, we decided to park and collect the info at this gate.We began reading the story and considered what was infront of us. It appears the CO has engaged some creative license with this cache which is not necessarily surprising. We allowed the imagination of the CO to consume us and set about collecting the info we needed.Arriving at GZ we spotted all the things we needed. One of which had been left unlocked, but upon contacting the CO to help reset things, we uncovered that the locking mechanism was in fact not working as intended. It doesnt prevent the cache from being completed though which is great.A lot of work has gone into the creation of this one. Well done!A big thanks goes to n0w0rries for taking the time to add 6,000 to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
**26/06/2024, 14:04:00****Find #5856****Letterbox Find #99**I've been eyeing off this cache for quite some time. Today was the day. As I was heading out of the park, I parked my car outside the gate up off the road and then headed back in on foot. I had no trouble finding the good sized container but then found myself presented with a problem I had forgotten about. It had been quite some time since I last read the cache page and I had forgotten that finding the outer box wasn't the end of the hunt. I had more work to do. Fortunately, I looked around and quickly saw what I needed. Not for the first time since I started caching, I'm glad that I'm not vertically challenged. I retrieved the key and then opened the main box and then accessed the log itself. Very nicely done, Rod. A favourite point from me. **Thank-you to n0w0rries for placing this geocache**
What an awesome set up! I mentioned to the CO that I was going to attempt this cache after a nearby CITO/Event and he gave me the confidence to give this one a go. Woo hoo - I did it! [@Knight_shift](https://coord.info/PRRTK9A) provided an audience and confirmed my steps along the way, but I'm pleased to say I did this one by myself. A brilliant cache. Thanks.
I've looked at this cache several times and always placed it in the too-hard basket. However, today, I was in the area and had an hour up my sleeve, so it was time to give it a go. I wasn't quite ready for the metaphors and started looking for actual things as described. I'm not great at projections, and I've no idea what the cardinal letter referred to, so I used my intuition to find the steps and lead the way to GZ.I was happy to see that a climb wasn't actually required, and I had the code at hand. The next clue was quickly deciphered, as I was lucky enough to have internet access. Then, the treasure chest was open, and I could add my small story to the book.
A long planned visit with Snips and Co started much later than expected as my Google maps brought me to the wrong side of a locked gate. By the time I'd got to the right side, the heavens had opened and so we sat in Snips car chatting for a while. We didn't have any wet weather wear in either car, but the rain stopped and we headed off on our adventures.I'd got a bit of encouraging ideas a few weeks ago from the CO, but Snips was so quick in interpreting the treasure map that we were at GZ before I'd even realised. I did what was needed for the log to be signed and we went off very happy. This rare DT combo achieved and a FP awarded for a great cache.
Well, this was fun!Connie and I decided to target this one today. A day with a 0% chance of rain. Except, of course, we are in Melbourne. But we were bumbling Melburnians and had forgotten to pack essential items like a raincoat, for the 0% chance of rain. How silly of us. Not to matter, we decided to go anyway not going to let the weather gods spoil our fun. I am probably the least prepared person on earth, no scouts for me I was wearing white runners BUT I had printed out the map. Miracles never cease! This was a blessing as it seemed Connie and I just could not count whilst looking up and walking round. To the map and the words we looked for guidance, and we were rewarded and from the hut to the well we went. Tired from the journey there we decided to rest a little to figure out the next step. Ah, a yellow flag, and then a large object that was not a hut or a tree. Tick, all found. I was happy, we had done it! Little did I know n0w0rries had more installed for us.Connie was quick to spy the treasure, but no, the logbook is still hidden from us. We looked around for the solution, my heart sank, there it was... up there it was. Connie to the rescue! Using the treasure box, she leapt up to retrieve the key and open the lock to the log book. We happily signed the logbook, replaced the key, hid the treasure chest and smiled with glee we had done it!Thanks, n0w0rries, a great tribute to your 6000th find, fav point from me.
A quick cache check, whilst caching in the area with +Wife.***Please note: When you return the keys to the upper level.**After placing everything inside make 100% sure that the silver loop is firmly locked into the top of the safe and the door is closed, before scrambling the tumblers.*All in good order here at 6,000 and eagerly awaiting the next visitor. ***n0w0rries - 6,000 Finds Geo-Achievement Bunjil Tag*** paid a visit.

I wanted to solve this traditional letterbox style but ended up merging both.
Loved the adventure and challenge
Thank you n0w0rries

Out and about with Tiz13 for another one of our weekly caching adventures, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles.
Todays chosen destination was Cardinia Reservoir to finish off the Dam series and any other caches in the location.
This is one of the caches found today. We started counting and then a light globe went off and we were soon at GZ and the unlocking began. This was the best cache of the day and gets a FAV from me.
Thanks n0w0rries for the cache.

Feeling overwhelmed with all that this cache involved, I suggested to Rebel Acts a few months back that we needed to find this cache together. The plan for this to be the 1st cache of the day was thorted by the big gate being locked, so instead, we tackled it after a few other caches. Things started off really well with RA, aka Hercule Poirot and Me Agatha Christie having a plan. We went prepared, and we worked as a team. Step 1 counting the fronds....no problem even though we both lost count we ended up with the same number then things turned to shambles as we couldn't agree on some mathematics and our next steps had us all over the place. We morphed into Abbott and Costello....with lots of laughs and circle turning, we eventually got to GZ in the most absurd way. At GZ we finally got our act together and worked our way through each step to unlock unlock ?? ?? ?? ?? and unlock..a very awesome finale and an honour to sign the log book. A favourite from us both. Thanks for the fun.
At the dam to finally complete my 366 day challenge and finally try my luck at the Post Office. It doesn’t seem that long since this cache was published, but in the meantime the CO has powered on from 6000 to 8327 finds. Amazing effort!
I hadn’t taken in the full details of this cache until I arrived at GZ. And then I realised all the layers that were involved. Wow!
I thought things weren’t working as I started, so shot off a message to the CO, but in the meantime I thought I‘d try one more thing - and it worked!
From then, things progressed more-or-less smoothly, and soon I was stamping and signing and cheering too. It even filled an elusive hole on my DT grid!
Lovely work n0w0rries. Fave

After our last visit we got a nudge from the CO and this time all the locks clicked into place. Great cache that you have to work for - thanks nOwOrries.
Wow this was a memorable cache for all the right reasons. Once I got my brain into gear, I am blaming Christmas holidays and a lack of sleep, I was onto what needed to be done to claim this cache.
Loved it!!!!
Found with sir_spectre while in Victoria for a huge geocaching holiday.

Was in the area to replace with permission one of the nearby challenge caches as a new fence has " removed access " to the old gz. Saw this cache listing. I needed this D/T in a letterbox for my letterbox only fizzy grid and also my fizzy grid only using victorian caches.
Walked down the track to the listed co ords. Looked at the structure and got some numbers. walked to the first waypoint. got some more numbers. walked over to the final. Found the first container. tried a few numbers, retried a few numbers. Googled the answer, Mogni memeory was a touch off, that's one box open. free climb the tree. so glad i didn't have to go back and get the ladder. try more numbers, then retry numbers in case of error. Mogni then understands what is meant to open drop box. That number works and that is a great idea. Get the key and down tree to unlock and stamp log book. Really liked the design of this letterbox, fun to do. Have a fav point from S.A.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Shiver me timbers, this was a great cache!!
It was all hands on deck today when the geopups demanded a walk despite the drizzling rain. So we crossed land and seas (or rather large puddles) on our way to Cardinia Res for a meander. Whilst in the area I decided to set my sights on this cache and do some reconnaissance as I had assumed that this cache would be undoable solo. However, upon starting the adventure I realised that perhaps the treasure was within reach and even better it meant the loot would be all mine haha! A wonderful adventure later and I had my hands on the bullion!
A fantastic, well thought-out and implemented cache. It has so much of what I love about geocaching... adventure, nature, puzzles, creativity and imagination. Thanks n0w0rries for placing and maintaining it!
Thanks also for the recent note about resetting the cache, it made much more sense when I read it!

I have noticed a few comments about one of the locks not being closed when cachers arrive here.
If you're not sure how to lock things back the way you found them; perhaps these instructions will be helpful.
**When you are up the tree for the last time, take care and pay attention to detail.**
The top lock must be pushed firmly into the housing.
Once the lower door is closed, slide the black switch down until the catch engages.
Only then do you reset the combination to all zeroes *(or any other combination that takes your fancy.)*
Slide the poly bag all the way down and fold back up before tying a neat bow to hold it in place.
Replace the safe to where you found it, paying particular attention to the way the cable was when you arrived.
Thanks, in advance - n0w0rries

Ah Hoy Matey! Queenant on the treasure hunt!
Always wondered about this one, and the stars aligned, and we set sail on a mini adventure! Numbers were counted, flags found and steps made! A lot more than needed none the less. The treasure was found, trees were climbed and log books signed.
Time to set sail before the sun sets! Thanks for the fun loved all of the components and fun had.
Great little excursion - although, in true Alfetola fashion it required two visits to get the smiley (thanks to our trusty PAF).
Definitely a FP!! And congrats on your milestone Rod

there are times when geocaching when the stars align
when you don’t need to read the geocache description or follow the letterbox instructions, yet everything still turns out for the best
all locks fall open at a touch
the treasure blinks in neon lighting
your name is already signed and dated in the ledger
a part of me thinks this marks the dawn of a great geocaching intuition, the long-awaited ‘knack’ of knowing the best route to the treasure and then finding its hidey-hole first go
what else could explain the series of fortunate events experienced here?
well
perhaps
the owner talked me through it a week ago

With the new year upon us (and a public holiday to be appropriately made use of), buhfuhguh and I made an impromptu trip to kick off a year of caching in an area ranging all the way from Scoresby to Officer.
There were plenty of finds with lots of walking to accompany them, though plenty of fun was had as always, notwithstanding the fact that I foolishly didn't apply sunscreen and ended up with a less-than-pleasant sunburn afterwards!
I've been curious for some time as to what the antics in this corner of the reservoir park were all about.
I very sadly couldn't attend the event that this cache was released alongside, but thankfully I could relive some of the fun today.
I didn't recall seeing any grass huts or yellow flags on my last visits here, but everything quickly made sense as we were led on a short and whimsical adventure over to gz.
Up buhfuhguh went as I sorted out things below, soon enough we made it in and had the treasure in our hands!
This is such an awesome letterbox that is wonderfully creative and reimagines the area in a memorable manner.
Not to mention that it's all very well put together and uses a bunch of fun and unique components, all of which are definitely fave point worthy - I really want to see more placements like this!

Another day out and about with Brainiac03 today as we go out for a very impromptu and sporadic day out caching with no real plan or guide to tell us where we are going. Just picking caches that we're nearby or interesting to keep up going. With roughly 24 found including a couple fun multis we were happy with today's work with no DNF's. A nice cool day after some swelters all in all had fun, Thanks for the cache and the little adventure

We went to the park for a xmas picnic, and after the CO mentioning yesterday that the climb wasnt as bad as we thought (still suspect on that), we figured may as well give it a go as only our second find for december.
Arrived at the hut and started to do the mathematical gymnastics, and did some more investigation and eventually arrived at the treasure trove. I stayed up the tree while the sneakies did the magical bit down below, all the time hanging on for dear life.
Nicely setup hide and find.

I found this cache today on my Cardinia Reservoir Loop Part 3. I read up on this one and thought that this one looked really complicated so I resolved to just pick it up and work my way through it in the field. Firstly, I had parked on the wrong side of the fence, so I corrected that and walked to the start from the nearby road. Once I got into it, I realised that it was not complicated at all and that some of the instructions were just confirmations of other ways to do the steps. In the end, it was a really enjoyable cache to complete and probably my favourite of the month so far. Thanks from D B-A
Out with au.fait and xambo4u, we had a beautiful day walking in the Cardinia Reserve.
Our first cache for the day - WOW -
Absolutely fabulous !!!
We counted fronds, bolts etc, and did some projections (glad I had company as I had dodgy coverage here)
We arrived at GZ to find a further challenge, which xambo4u took on willingly. The most brilliant, unusual, clever, magnificent cache.
A massive favourite point.
Thanks n0w0rries.

Having a day out caching with echidna44 and xambo4u at Cardinia Reservoir. The forecast was t the best but not daunted headed out anyway and as it turned out the weather was fine but cool. We found a mixture of cache types, traditional, multis, puzzles and letterboxes. Lots of walking, lots of laughs and many dumb funny moments making for great memories This letterbox was the most memorable of all. It was our first cache of the day and set an amazingly high standard. We had so much fun as we worked out the waypoints and the eventual solution, but the fun was really just beginning. Our names are safely in the log and TBs removed to travel on. If I could give more than one favourite point I would. Thanks for a super cache n0w0rries
Out and about with echidna44 and au-fait for a great day of caching. A little worried about the weather but it managed to stay off for the day. This was our first for the day and thought it may have been a little beyond us because of the rating. Parked just in side the gates and did the walk. The hut has firmed up over time but we got what we needed from that and fudged our way along to the large object. Found what we needed and then made the ascent. Retrieved the next important part and then called on Mr Google for some math conversion. Did the magic twists and bingo. Great work here n0w0rries. Loved it. Returned it all back in place and patted ourselves on the back while going back to the car. It gets a fav from me. Thanks for the cache. n0w0rries

One of the fun parts of Geocaching is watching the evolution of a hider's placement over the years. Which is why I enjoy visiting people's first hides.
Rarely, though, do I go from their first to their most recent release.
It appears that we weren't the only ones to get caught in yesterday's local torrential rain storms. Now, n0w0rries had put a lot of work into putting together this celebratory cache, so was understandably concerned that parts of it might be water damaged. So, while waiting for a load of machinery and wood to arrive from Queensland, off we went to perform maintenance.
We pulled up just outside the fence close to the grass hut, intending to walk through the nearby gate... which, at 4:30 in the afternoon, was locked. The sign says dusk, but this is not the first time that park employees have jumped the gun. I've walked a lot more of the You Yangs than expected in similar circumstances.
So, around to another entrance and through the whole park we drove.
And then it was my turn to follow the treasure map's instructions. Counting, stepping, more counting and stepping... Oh, what's this? Some scrambling?
Thanks, n0w0rries, for the out-of-the-ordinary letterbox experience. And bonus smiley.
Drying out all the pieces from the cache's dowsing in the rain the previous finder had the misfortune to experience took longer than logging the cache, but it was good to get it back in shape. A last scramble, and we drove off to get back just in time for the unloading task I'd come out for.

Dropped by this afternoon with a bundle of dry rags and nirgalagrin.
Waited for the cache to be found and opened before tipping out about a half a gallon of water.
Dried everything and removed some wet items before dropping a couple of trackables.

During dinner last night, my companions (one half of) beckNmonts and ahomburg took great pity on my D/T grid, very disappointed in its empty squares at the big number corner, and proceeded to compile a list of caches to bring it back to good health! So today I had the privilege of ahomburg to chauffer me around the Eastern Suburbs to find some exceptional caches.
This was our last find for the afternoon and we were hoping for a nice walk around the Reservoir so I could collect the required answers as the cache was meant to be played. But we were only a minute or two late in getting here and the skies were starting to open up so ahomburg, who had previously found this cache, suggested we just go straight GZ as it could be a bit slippery in the wet. Because we were really battling the rain by this stage he decided, due to his slightly taller frame, to do the climbing while I would sign the log. And while he was up the tree it rained liked it had never rained before! I managed to get the cache open and tried signing the log under the edge of the rock but didn't even get my full name written before the pen wouldn't work it was so wet. Then you've never seen two caches get put back together so quickly and we were out of there back to our cars like a pair of drowned rats! And no sooner did we get in the car the rain instantly stopped!
But our apologies to nOwOrries , hopefully the contents of the main cache container are ok and will dry out soon. If we had of known that the rain would stop like it did we would have waited for that. But if nothing else we certainly have some interesting memories of doing this cache and a hot shower when I got home never felt so good! Ths for a Letterbox with a difference!

SciFiRulz did all the work while PapaGrouch and I wandered about counting stuff. That is, until she needed PapaGrouch to do some manual labouring stuff to finish it off. TFTC
Found with PapaGrouch and WeRAmused. This was an interesting little adventure, I followed the directions while PapaGrouch and WeRAmused had their GPSs out. Easily found the required elements then sent PapaGrouch up the tree for the key. Signed and stamped the log and stamped my Letterbox cache book as well. A fun find. TFTC
Plans were made with the Varmints to work together on this cache. We all had a sense of adventure, but were not too sure about the skills required for the imagination part, so we figured 4 heads are better than 2.
We came prepared, us with a coloured map, the Crusty’s overconfidence showing with a B&W version. The fronds were counted and confirmed by Crusty and myself, but being a little over pedantic, I asked Steve to count them too. By this stage, Crusty & Sally were powering through the next few stages while we were still deliberating over one of the instructions.
By the time we caught up, we witnessed one of the highlights of the night, Crusty trying to get his leg up and over the first branch of the tree climb. As we stood back laughing, it became abundantly clear he wasn’t going anywhere unless he had two volunteers to help him, one for each butt cheek, a feat no one was willing to undertake.
Steve took over the tree climb, then it was smooth sailing all the way to signing the logbook. A great deal of thought has been put into this Letterbox cache, with no expense spared and it was a beauty.
Congratulations Rod on your #6000 cache and thanks for an entertaining evening. A favourite from us.

Well, what a fantastic bit of work this is. This is a very well-presented cache which created much discussion, and a few laughs, when Teams Knight_shift and Crustyvarmint got together this afternoon. We sure made Gilligans Island look like a well organised team. However, we all added something to the adventure, and Steve did the monkey work.
Thanks for your great work n0w0rries. I wish I could give it more than one fav point.

*Cache find # 11498.*
Well this one is certainly a cache with the lot, a bit of imagination to go along with it and certainly a worthy letterbox hybrid cache.
With the hut in slight, the counting began, the well was found and I then moved onto the flag and then t he platform, a bit of climbing was done and I had to get the grey matter working
to break though each stage of the opening but finally I had cracked all the codes and opened all the locks and the treasure was now mine.
A very well thought out LHB cache and was a lot of fun to work my way through it.
**Thanks to n0w0rries for placing this cache.**

After reviewing my photo of the "flag" I have updated the wording.
It seems the first character is indeed a numeral (with a rusty water mark running down it) and not a letter after all.
WP 2 adjusted accordingly.
Sorry for any confusion.

Joint {FTF} with 999Hunter @4:30pm
At home today, baking some biscuits when this one popped up on my phone. Not wanting to ruin them, I had to wait out the 15 minutes for the last batch to finish cooking so didn't hold up much hope for the FTF. Anyway I had some time to fill in before dinner so decided to take the drive.
Once I arrived at the listed coords, I was surprised there was nobody else there and no ftf log, so onward I went, counting begun. I heard a rustling in the distance and H9 soon joined me. We both got different results so another count begun. And we were soon on our way, eventually making our way to GZ, a fun puzzle where eventually thanks to primary school history, all fell into place and the final container opened. We were getting a little rained on, so a quick FTF celebration and we went our separate ways, me a quick jog back down to the car.
Well done on an excellent and somewhat different letterbox. A great way to celebrate a milestone.
Thanks to n0w0rries for the cache and congratulations on #6000.
Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2021?*

I heard n0w0rries say that it was going to be his 6000th geocache find on the weekend, but never saw him afterwards to say congratulations. "Congrats". I also heard a rumour that he was working on something and I guess this was it.
I sat looking at this one for half an hour, before saying to my wife "OK I will do it". Got to the location within another 30 minutes and parked outside the gates because I didn't know how long it would take and didn't want to get locked in.
Got to the posted coordinates and saw a familiar face working out the next location. After different 2 counts of the fronds each, we agreed and we worked out way thru the next few locations. Bit confused by the "yellow flag with a letter" because what we found, I personally think the first character was a number not a letter.
But soon we had the treasure box but what to do with it? A few ideas were thrown around and glad AHomburg was there, because he turned into the Brains of the operation, so I had to be the Climber to get back on an even keel. Then at 4.30, we were dividing the treasure between ourselves.
Thanks for the cache n0w0rries
