Archiving all our virtual caches. The requirement to visit the cache location is being ignored. It would seem that people no longer bother to read the cache page. Some overseas geocachers have taken to trying to hoodwink us into thinking that they have visited Melbourne. It is not that difficult to find them out but it is very tedious.

18-Sep-15
Too bad these are archived now. I spend hours solving these just to make sure I could log them when we visit VIC/TAS in a few weeks time. Twisted
Would have been nice to log some virtuals as they are hard to find these days.
Better not spend any more time on the mysteries then just in case they dissapear too before we get there. Sad

On holiday here in Melbourne and I am glad how many caches are around the CBD. Came out here to visit the location. I was surprised that I could see this building from the Eureka Tower earlier. Thanks for the cache.
I am logging this find a little late. The date is correct, but I am unsure what find number this was.

Kitti Kati and I in Australia - Day 22:

Today is our last day in Melbourne and this afternoon we move on to our last station in Australia, Perth.
Before we leave we had a few hours time and so we started a short stroll to have an breakfast and do some last geocaches in Melbourne.
This Cache was not so easy for us we were here two days before, but the coordinates were a little bit confusing for us. At first we were at the right location but the coordinates were a little bit of and so we thought you mean the high bank building. (So we get up there^^)
Back at the hotel I looked for some previous log pictures and than we know that our first thought was right, but we had a little adventure at the bank building. Very Happy.
Today we get back to the right place and as we arrived there it was 10am and the clock began to play. Very cute and the perfect time for a last visit here. Smile

TFTC and greetings from Germany

Logging with permission : OzHcockeyChick and I were here having a walk around melbourne killing some time before the imax movie we were going to and this little virtual cropped up so we decided to do it. I remember this area well as back in the day myself and a group of students came here hoping to grab a glimps of the star but couldn't even get within 500 meters of the guy ....lol....
Thanks for reminding me of another younger memory Biggles Bear...

Logging with permission Smile

Today was a huge day. We (me, hubby, master 6 & master 4) left home (Ballarat) early (about 9am) and headed cross country to get Melbourne's First ever cache. After stopping to grab caches on the way and visit markets, eat lunch etc. we made it to Melbourne late arvo. A quick walk around the city and grabbing another cache saw us at Melbourne Central for an early tea. Whilst eating I saw this cache and thought we should look into it. Pic of the kids are attached. From here we then headed to Etihad stadium to watch us (the Bombers) get absolutely smashed by the Cats. We then jumped back in the car and made the long trip home arriving just before midnight. A big day. Lots of fun though and great to get another Virtual cache to my name. Many thanks Smile

It's amazing how much you can learn geocaching. A place I have visited a few times when in Melbourne under its former name but i didn't know it's secret then. I was lured here today for another reason apart from shopping and I wasn't disappointed! An amazingly eye catching place. TFTC Biggles Bear.

We are logging this cache as a find with the permission of the cache owner.

Suscoe was wandering the lanes of Melbourne today finding caches and eventually we found our way here.
This was our 8th find of the day.
We remember this cinematic offering far back in our memory banks.
All good here today, a brilliant blue sky and a most pleasant late Autumn day.
Brightened us right up after last night's footy game!

Thanks to Biggles Bear for creating this cache, nice walk down memory lane.

Found on our 2015 footy trip to Melbourne with Sol de Lune. Before seeing the bulldogs losing to the saints, despite being in front by 55 POINTS AT HALF TIME, we decided to get a couple of the virtuals around the city. It was really nice coming around to all of these cool spots looking for the answers - they were all really cryptic and very nicely set up. Also, this adds another three GC virtuals to my list - you don't see those too often. TFTC Biggles Bear!

09-May-15
In Melbourne for a weekend of footy with Toy Hunters and as we were staying in the CBD, we decided to try for 3 of the virtual caches I still had to claim.

I can remember this one from my days living in Melbourne, so glad to finally make the find on it. Answers were gathered, e-mail sent to the CO and approval to log received. Thanks again Biggles Bear.....always enjoy a virtual. Favourite point here for the memories......

Certainly not a couch potato and certainly on the chase for a few victuals while I'm in the city off and on this week. Geogranni has some appointments in and around the area over a couple of days we Ms-enchantress and I thought we would take advantage and pick up some dailies and some more uncommon caches.

This was a quick dash and grab a photo and working out the answers while stuck on the Monash car park 9 damn that road)
I didn't realise this Movie had been filmed here which is silly as it sticks out like the proverbial now!
TFTC Biggles Bear we always know they are good when your name is one them. TBV

We headed to Melbourne for a week of exploring, relaxing and a touch of caching, and today headed out to grab a few, and this one was next up on the list Smile We headed into the shopping centre, and soon spotted exactly what we were after Big Grin Being tourists we had no idea this existed, so it was great to be able to do some research and learn a thing or two [^]

I was in the city, looking for another cache (which I DNFed unfortunately) when I saw this one. Virtuals are a very rare thing where I come from, so I grabbed the chance. It took a while to get the answers but in the end I was very sure of them.

Tks BB!

And yes, I visited GZ. When I read about 'couch potato caching' in the description, it was the first time I'd come across this term.

Wow!! Never new this film was filmed here. Love the main actor but must say some of the acting in this film is not the greatest. Had a great weekend for 10th Wedding Anniversary in the CBD. Dinner out, a musical and geocaching (hubby was Munzee)

On our trip trough Australia with the hole family we looked also for some caches. They often showed us places we would never had discovered. Thanks a lot to all the people who care about this lovely hobby Big Grin.

Melbourne was our last stop. Here we packed all together and we made us ready to fly home. But we also want to visit Melbourne and look what there is around Big Grin.

I didn't see this movie, but I like the actor!

Wow this one was hard! Not a big fan of this actor or the movies this actor is in. Also not aware of the Melbourne Movie Scene! I got horribly hung up on the wrong actor for a while too.It Took a long time before I managed to look for the right information. I sent my answer to the CO and got the green light to log this one. Thanks for the cache BB. Now to keep trying for the other nearby virtual that I visited.....

Found it with Team FIN [kapeka & laalaa]

We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!

Greetings from Finland!

Last night I happened to turn on the TV and saw my beloved Melbourne Central starring in an action movie and it suddenly reminded me of this cache. Many months ago I had come across this cache and after some research at the time had found the answer - not only to the cache but armchair caching too - so sad.

Anyway, sent an email off to CO and this morning received a green light to log a find. TFTC Biggles Bear!

#143 - Logged with permission of the owner (a full month late due to the most tedious ongoing internet issues). Thanks Biggles Bear for permission to log. I don't work in the city anymore but when I did I was though here at least once a week. It was interesting to come back and I had no idea this was GZ for movie star royalty! I think this area is really public space but it's succumbed to commercialism creep like many other great locations around the city. It has a long and checkered history and knowing that perhaps it was inevitable this area would turn into another glitzy mall. By now I'm well off the topic so suffice to say if you haven't watched the movie it is worth it. Melbourne less than two decades ago looks completely different. The full length version is currently available on youtube.

Logged with permission. I had a good look around this area a few months ago, and tried to get as high as I could, and got as high as the cinemas then could get no further. My GPS was swinging all around the place, so I couldn't quite get a fix on GZ. I was back there today, and tried to imagine how it was used for the film. I found the answers on Google, and haven't seen the film as it's not quite my style. Maybe if there was a bit of Keanu Reeves circa Speed-era in it then I might be more inclined to watch it. Thanks Biggles Bear for the virtual.

02-Feb-15
I do not watch many movies but this is my favourite actor and what I consider the film of his I like the best. I had no idea where the coordinates were taking me until I arrived, and, as soon as I arrived I knew immediately what all the answers were.
Thank you very much Biggles Bear for permission to log today

#2963 - 14:10; I was out and about while in Melbourne for a few days on the way home from a trip to Tassie on a Burke and Wills expedition, but making a few detours to collect some of the local caches, after a productive early morning wander. Determined to get a few of the Melbourne 'virtuals', I visited the GZ for this cache in furtherance of this goal. A lovely three days in Melbourne on my way to Aukland and visiting my family and grandkids. What better than to grab some caches.

Staying near the Royal Children's Hospital we did the ones in the Royal Park and the earthy smelling one near the zoo. Always love a good "Wild Animal" smell first thing in the morning. Anyway I digress, also had a few finds in the city and as much as this is available from the comfort of the lounge, I always think that defeats the purpose, so great to get out and about.

Thanks a lot for this trivia run Biggles Bear and your prompt response.

Being Christmas Day, and on our lonesome, we headed into the heart of Melbourne to cache.
We thought there would be a lot less traffic and muggles - how wrong we were.
Traffic was banked up with vehicles, just trying to get onto the freeway, and in the city - people everywhere.
Even thought it was quite busy, we still managed to get parking where we needed it.

We enjoyed our day here, in the city. Logged after confirmation from the CO.
Many thanks, Biggles Bear.
