27 September 2024 14:19 dalerious and I were on our way to Glenpatrick to visit my nephew Azrin80 and do some caching down his neck of the woods. We were enjoying the drive through the countryside picking certain towns that we hadn't visited for a while. It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip with a variety of caches picked along the way.The countryside looked wonderful as we made our way to each town, enjoying the peaceful drive and finding caches in towns we had not visited for a while.Thank you chooknchunk, this cache was found in good condition.
27 September 2024 @2:15pmStaying the weekend with Azran86, catnap & I stop here to use the amenities and find a cache while on the way there. Great to see that this well kept cache was our host's first find, and great to finally learn (from the nearby info board) how Amphitheatre got it's name. TFTC chooknchunk.
A cache near a toilet, what perfect timing! I have headed off for a day and a half or so, planning to cache from Maldon, over to Red Bank then wending my way towards Creswick. i will hopefully be tidying up a few stragglers on my map, exploring more GCA caches and visiting at least a couple of new areas. Amphitheatre is find number 4,054 for me. A fun small sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Pyrenees Shire. I am logging this one on Tuesday 24 Sept 2024 at 10:30 am and the weather is Overcast Clouds 17C 57% 4 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy chooknchunk.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Found while out enjoying a lovely family drive through the area, we headed home this way and stopped to make the find TFTC and the fun
TFTC what a beautiful little town and a gorgeous park thank you for bringing us here
A nice quick little find, bigger than anticipated. Thanks for bringing us to this quaint but sleepy little town.TFTC
I had some cache maintenance to do in Avoca and with 16 year old Neisha07 getting in some driving experience, we decided to carry on to Ampitheatre to grab the ad labs and this one. A nice quick find and a learning experience for Neisha's muggle boyfriend who had tagged along. TFTC
Hi there Aaron here first cache nice and easy thats so much having a ball searching for these.Cache was all good no damage and still had the small log book in it.Cheers A-aron
In true Geocaching fashion we decided to look for this one from the wrong side. Soon sorted TFTC
Things are now settled in the area and it is now appropriate to re-enable these caches in Amphitheatre.
While the main Ararat to Avoca road is now open following the bushfires last week, many local roads are still closed to the public (local access only). Due to the proximity of this cache to the general fireground area, and in respect to the locals still monitoring suspicious vehicles in the area, this cache remains disabled for the time being.PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND ANY CACHE THAT HAS BEEN DISABLED DUE TO THE BUSHFIRES, regardless of whether you think it is safe or not. Any 'Found It' logs while this cache is disabled for this reason will be subsequently deleted. We will check out each location and arrange re-enabling of caches as access and safety allows.Thank you for your understanding.Jo and Glen (chooknchunk)
This cache is an an area subject to fire fighting operations (22-23 Feb) and may have been impacted by the fire. It has been disabled until it is safe for the CO is able to check the current condition of the cache.
Staring at it for five minutes. Excellent camo. Hanging around in the open and still impossible to spot if you were not looking for it. Thanks for the challenge. Been past this park hundreds of times in the middle of the night while doing deliveries, never with the time to search for this one. Cache in excellent condition.
Today was a bit like throwing a dart at a map and travelling to that location, although there was no darts involved. Instead, I had a look at the geocaching app map and selected a town nearby that Id not yet visited (that had to have caches of course) and off we went. The goal was the Adlab here along with this cache.I planned our trip through the town so that I could get this cache as I went past collecting adlab locations. I spent a while looking almost directly at the cache until my eyes focused and there it was Thank you for your informative description of the town of Amphitheatre. It was a really interesting read. The cache here was in good condition and still plenty of room in the log book. Thanks for placing this cache and adding to the map
What a quaint little town to stop and do an interesting Ad lab and to grab this cache along the way.
A quick pick up while Glanville Girls and I did the lab. Thanks for placing chooknchunk
A nice quick find here today while we were in the area doing the Adventure Lab. Thanks for placing.
Have to grab all of them here on our trip. We collected a bird so a cache is a normal thing for us. Tftc
After venturing out to the pioneer cemetery on our mission to visit each Victorian cemetery, we swung by here to add our names to the logbook. Tftc
In the area visiting relatives so today decided on a plan to complete as many as possible in a circle round from Maryborough to Beaufort and back. In town for the AL and quickly picked this one up when passing.

On the way to Raglan and had a pit stop and realised there was a cache nearby, found it
No gathering happening here today. We’re in the area with a former resident who tells us that over the road was the general store - the kids got ice creams on their way home from school. Those were the days … TFTC!
A nice excuse to stop and break the journey up. TFTC!

After a few days away it was time to head home, we took the long way and did a few detours to do several lab caches.
This is one of the caches found today. So many towns that you would never visit if not for caching.
Thanks chooknchunk for the cache.

**Found en route to Horsham for a couple of nights**
Nice history tour of this lovely little town. Enjoyed the tour. An area I hadn't paid particular attention too before the nearby Adventure Lab.
The thing I love about caching is the interesting history, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the stories, the interests of the individual CO’s, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals don’t know about. I, like most cachers, look for more that a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most CO’s take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own.
Thank you chooknchunk for highlighting this area and for adding this cache to my real-life treasure hunt. Appreciate your efforts.

**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise.

On the way home from the VIC Rogaine Event. In Dunolly. Great weekend. Great Place. So much history with more to learn. Thanks to the cache owner.
We noticed this cache was we completed the Adventure Lab in Amphitheatre today. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find of an unusual type of container, one we haven't seen before. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks chooknchunk for the cache.
Working in Horsham today so naturally I stopped for a cache or two with maybe a slight detour here or there on the way home! Ha ha. Thanks for the cache - my feet got wet as so much water about here! Ha ha.
Find No. 3759. Found with FUF009 at 2.41pm.
Today we decided to go for a Sunday's drive to give our red car a run. The question was - where do we go? So it was decided we would go to Moonambell, onto Landsborough, then Ampitheatre to grab some caches that are in those towns. We came home through Avoca - unfortunately no caches there - we have them all.
FUF009 came with us and we also took Geodog Penny for a days outing..
Our last find for the day and it was Mr Tyred n Cranky who quickly came across this hide.
Log signed and now it's time to head for home via Avoca.

A quick find after we were able to rule out the fallen shrub, where our GPS suggested GZ was. Thanks Choocknchunk
I never really felt I was in an Ampitheatre at any time as the nearby hills kept a respectful distance away.
Nice camo here in a well maintained park.

We are going to the events in Ballarat tomorrow for all the 2's and thought that we would get a head start and head up the night before rather than have a very early start in the morning.
We were having a good run and thought that we would go out to Ampitheatre and grab the lab caches out there and anything else that popped up.
For a sleepy little town this is quite an impressive little park and like the rest of the town is in a very well kept condition. It is hard to imagine what it must have been like here with 6000 miner eeking out a meagre living hoping to strike it rich. Unfortunately not many of their dreams came true. Today on our visit doing this cache and the adventure lab we didn't see another person the entire time we were here, it was almost like a ghost town but we realise it's not.
Once at gz we had a slight panic at where the GPSr was pointing that was once a tree but is now fast asleep. We had a quick look in there and then expanded our search slightly and came up empty handed until Diane wandered over to where I was searching and said "what's this you blind old bugger". It was quite a bit larger than what I was looking for but we did add our name to the log, we are now going to book in for the optometrist.
Thanks chooknchunck for the cache and for the history.

Found by Mary and David at 16:30. We were a little apprehensive when we saw a toppled bush very close to our indicated GZ, but all was well and we found the nicely camouflaged container shortly afterwards. Loved the sign near the church - "Holy Bull Manure". So much to love here. Watch out for bullants too. Staying in Ballarat for an early Event in the morning. A FP for bringing us out to such a lovely country area on gorgeous day. Our thanks to chooknchunk.
Stopped for a break heading home from a few days away camping and geocaching. TFTC
As part of our last full day in Ballarat we decided to take a day trip to Lexton, Amphitheatre, Avoca and Talbot. We found a variety of cache types as well as completing 3 Adventure Labs. Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches and showing us so many aspects of the region.
Out and about caching between Ballarat and Avoca. Attempted various caches which took us to different areas of the countryside ab=nd villages. Found cache and signed log. TFTC
Tidy park and facilities. Took a bit of searching for this one. Well camouflaged. TFTC.
As we were heading out this way, we performed a bit of maintenance here at the request of the CO's. Nice area but we always worry when it is so dry. Thanks for the cache.
Happy New Year!!
It’s New Years Day and Day 7 of the Bring In The New Year (BITNY) road-trip. It was a slow morning after partying our way into the new year. With a little bit of time up our sleeve before the event we set off to explore Amphitheatre and the new ad lab.
Having completed the adventure lab we stopped by this cache. TheTritonz had reported some damage to the host for this cache the day before so with the COs permission we set about resetting this cache once located.
Thanks chooknchunk for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

A very late start today after lounging around for most of the morning.
The group drove up to do the new AdLab in this lovely town, and collected a few others on the way.
Not so much hanging as lying around I think described this cache.
We removed it from the ex-tree and send some new co-ords to the COs.
Thanks, Robmc.

After making my way up the Western Fwy towards Beaufort for the long weekend and of course having a few stops along the way at Melton, Miners Rest and Stock Yard Hill to find a few caches.
I eventually made it to the New Years Eve event in Beaufort in the afternoon and then I ended up somewhere for New Years Eve and I might have celebrated just a bit to long as I was a wee bit slow off the mark in the morning.
After lounging around for most of the morning it was decided to head to Amphitheatre to do the Adventure Lab and a trad as well.
After finding the Lab final the convoy headed to this one and we soon found that the host tree had decided to lay down and have a nap.
With the CO’s permission we relocated it to a tree nearby that was still standing.
Thanks chooknchunk TFTC.

DAY SEVEN: Beaufort & Amphitheatre.
While we were in town, we made our way here to find the nicely camo’d cache in a fallen tree. With CO permission, we placed it in the tree next to it.

TFTC. After completing the Adventure Lab and the Bonus we started to head out of town toward Beaufort for an event. Not before we stopped of here for a nice little find. Muster admit to a bit of cache blindness here. Threw my hands up in the air , turned around and there it was.
After completing the new caches in town and a quick detour up in the Pyrenees we visited this cache namesake of Amphitheatre. However, unfortunately the host of the cache has fallen over and died. RIP
The cache is still alive though.

Heading across to Mt Cole and Beaufort today. Mt Cole chasing a FTF and Beaufort to have dinner with chook with she plays Covid monitor at a local hotel. This stop was firstly to find a cache and secondly to stretch the legs and take a few moments to rest up. The cache was found quickly but after the recent rains, the ground nearby was soggy and muddy.

We have sold the shop in Avoca, and we need to clean it out before we settle in a few weeks. We took a different route as we had found all the caches on the other routes we have taken to get to Avoca in the past. The geodogs needed to stretch their legs and have a quick drink, and this lovely park suited perfectly. It is incredible how many wonderful parks there are around our beautiful state in small towns like Ampitheatre. The cache was in excellent condition. Excellent camo. Thank you for this cache chooknchunk.

*Cache find # 11899.*
Today I headed out West with biggles1024 to Mt. Avoca to tackle the hills and target of the first 500 Victorian caches.
After heading into Avoca for some lunch we then decided to then head around to Glenpatrick and tackle some of the others from that side, so as we were passing through Amphitheater we then had to stop and have a look for this one, shortly after the log was signed and we were on our way.
