Time for this one to go, unfortunately the area isnt a great spot for a cache any longer

27-Dec-23
Found the remains of some of the camo but no cache. Looks like this area is used for some rather unpleasant activities. Might have to rethink this one.

I popped by here this morning on the way to a local event, but couldn't find anything. Then at the event I got a hint on what I might be looking for so came by again for another look, but still had to walk away with a DNF.I'm sure this place would look great after a massive clean up, and I'm genuinely surprised to hear that it may have had one 2 months ago as currently it's not a pleasant place to look for caches. The stream has several trolleys dumped into it, and GZ is strewn with discarded refuse. Such a shame to see places like this used with such disregard Sad

I was heading to the GIFF event in Ormiston this afternoon, and I don't live anywhere near Ormiston, so it was a bit of a mission to get there on the buses (66 --> 74 --> 70). By the time I got to Botany I had had enough of buses so decided to walk the rest of the way and search for a couple caches while I was walking. This one was close to the bus interchange so it was the first one I tried.I had a good search for it for maybe 10 minutes but couldn't find it. There is a lot of litter around, and I found a spot that seemed worth checking so I put my hand in but only found a cigarette. That was enough to put me off searching any more. Sad I do like Coblets caches, so next time I find myself here, I'll try again!

Checked this one and confirm it has gone. Looks like there has been a significant clean up and the cache has been a casualty of this.A new container is now in place similar to the original.Description and hint have been updated.Cache is ready to be found.

I am once again down Manukau way for work this morning. That out of the way, I thought I would grab a couple of hides before heading back into the city this afternoon. I parked up on a side road and took the path around to access ground zero. Given the wet weather I should have passed on GZ as I got my work clothes a bit muddy searching. No joy on the cache front either. I did find Wishing Tree, but it wasn't to be today. I did use a phone a friend but it didn't seem to help. Might be worth the CO checking on this one.

04-Jun-23
GPS was bouncing around all over the place under the tree cover. Log was very damp but we signed it as best as we could. Loads of rubbish down here - needs a proper clean up! TFTC

25-Mar-23
Great little find but the surrounding area is totally trashed!

19-Feb-23
My kid found it lying on the ground I guess it flew away and log sheet is wet.any T4TC

20-Aug-22
Slipped and slid our way to gz. A very piwakawaka wanted to help us out and was very chatty as we searched. Mr TW soon had it found. TFTC

13-Aug-22
out with alunb and agazo today, the guys went first, i should have left them longer to find it, would have been more fun, tftc

13-Aug-22
The guys went to GZ first, but the find had to wait for someone with better vision in the form of nufrat. TFTC.

13-Aug-22
Thankfully nufrat wandered over and found this right away otherwise not sure how long we might have been there looking, TFTC

29-Jul-22
Took a bit longer than it should have. Cool cammo

29-Jul-22
Very well hidden, wouldn't of found it if it wasn't sticking out. The map may be off by a few meters due to trees

28-May-22
Nice hide last one time to go home

15-May-22
Nice easy find
Now time to go home
Thank to CO

Barry Curtis parkrun, then passed by here on the way home. With geomissus, thought it an ideal opportunity to introduce her to the wonders of Coblets hides. Initially on the wrong side of the water, so went round, followed geotrails, then looked in all obvious places for the hint item. Zip. GPS kept saying we needed to be further over there, so ventured further, and after a few minutes spotted the tell-tale markings of a genius Coblets hide. Geomissus was suitably impressed. TD strikes on Saturday morning. Take that, you sneaky teasing flatulent Nymphs!!! TFTC

19-Apr-22
Spent some time playing lazer tag and bowling nearby so grabbed this one afterwards. Was very quiet at the gz and when I stopped to try and orient myself I noticed something that didn't quite look right. Nicely done. I'll give an FP for this one as well. Thanks!

Here today to walk the MPI puppy for her shopping experience..... It is a good place for a one stop location for her to get comfortable with stairs, elevators, escalators, different floor surfaces, and of course people...lots of people.....

She is doing well with all, accept getting on and off the escalators, but that is not too bad for only 4.5 months old.....

Afterwards it was a walk in the grass before coming home, so we took the opportunity to locate this cache....

Fav. point given for the camo.

TFTC.

Spotted immediately. That is probably because I have found a variety of CO's caches the last couple of days and I seem to have become an CCE (coblets caches expert) by now...
Thanks for hiding and maintaing.

Believe I had a dnf on previous cache here. Glad to get a smiley today

19-Jan-22
I remember the previous version of this cache. After finding a parking spot nearby I headed in and quickly found the cache. So disappointing to see so much rubbish has been dumped here, it certainly could do with a CITO

22-Nov-21
Fun find! TFTC!

18-Jun-21
Out an about doing errends and it was a dot day so swung by this cache. I hadn't found the original cache so didn't have an idea of what I was looking for, but eventually spotted something that just didn't seem quite right and, sure enough, it was the cache. It was so disappointing to see so much rubbish in the area... definitely needs a CITO, TFTC!

06-May-21
The parking lot was almost full today (Muggles must be shopping for mother's day this weekend) but managed to find a parking spot reasonably close to gz. Didn't take long to spot the Botanist's camo on this cache. We couldn't believe all the dumped rubbish in this area including a shopping trolley in the water!! TFTC

04-May-21
Needed a cache to fill a dot day today and was close to this so thought I would take a look. Had the FTF DNF on this one so it was unfinished business after all!

Walked up and spotted it straight away - well it’s well camouflaged but since I had found it in it’s original hiding spot I knew what I was looking for and it’s WAY easier when it’s daylight and not trying with a small torch.

Thanks for the cache and for filling a dot day!

Quick find with grandees. TFTC sl.

20-Apr-21
Excellent camo but an easy spot when you know you’re looking for a cache! Another dot day filled. SL TFTC

04-Apr-21
Mr 12 saw this one pop up and wanted to make it a smiley face as we had recently made its nearby neighbour a smiley face. He had a good idea what he should be looking for, GPS was s bit bouncy but soon dialed into GZ after a quick search Mr 12 had hand over mouth and screaming internally yes yes yes. Now he'll be singing all day I found it I found it.

Had been shopping at the mall so snuck on over here afterwards. Super quick find, so pleased about that. Nice camo & yes, I do remember it.... TFTC Big Grin

Lost my geo skills....!

Found it !

Woo hoo...
More later...

27-Mar-21
Dammit....30mins searching and still no luck Sad

Saw this published last night and know the area so knew it wouldn’t be ideal at night and it was late. Had plans for an early walk in Hunuas so decided to head over here first for a look see.

GPS very jumpy with the trees so hard to know exactly where to focus and it’s still very dark so changes perspective in the dark.

Unfortunately came away just with a large number of mozzie bites...yes even though I put bug spray on they still got me Sad

I’ll be back!

Found it eventually ... log to follow

Today was supposed to be a sleep in day for the NZTraveller team after a hard work week.

Geodog and Geocats had other thoughts. We were woken early all demanding food!!!!

After feeding everyone, including ourselves Mrs NZT noted that this cache had been released the previous evening and as yet NO logs..... WHAT.... reload the cache page on computer AND phone but still NO LOGS! Check out side and the sky hadn't fallen.....

Right grab Geodog and Mr NZT heads into town. A penalty of some 20 minutes all the while thinking this will have gone and someone hasn't had time to log it yet.

Couldn't have parked further away if we tried. This resulted in Geodog and myself searching initially the incorrect side of the creek.

Once corrected the phone GPS pointed us to two potentials, both of which didn't reveal anything. Interesting to note a geotrail also pointed to the same two potentials and this only strengthened my thoughts that the FTF had already gone, it also made me think to search in this area AGAIN before expanding.

After 30 minutes searching (and keeping a second eye on Geodog who was now very interested in the creek Smile ) I messaged the CO to check I was in the correct area.

The CO confirmed I was and gave an additional hint. I expanded my search and again was coming up empty handed.

While searching one item I had started down lower and upon coming out of my crouched position I got a different perspective on something that didn't look like the others.....

Maybe just maybe......... OOOOO VERY CLEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still not convinced that this was an FTF I tentatively opened the container and was rewarded with a blank log!!!!!!

Signed the log and replaced the container.

Grabbed Geodog and we emerged from the bushes to bump right into the CO!!!!! Mrs Coblets had a nearby appointment and Mr Coblets thought he had better come check on the cache as it had been placed a couple of weeks previously.

We both went back and checked the coordinates at GZ as I was some 4 meters out when searching. However when we rechecked GZ this time my phone was now showing 1 meter away while Mr Coblets was showing 7 meters.

The tree cover here is going to pose a problem so do persist with expanding your search if at first you do not succeed.

Had a chat with Mr Coblets and then Geodog and myself headed for home.

About to sit down and write up this log and I get message from Keylev!!!! WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT CACHE!

Ahhhhhhh THAT explains the Geotrail I messaged back. Both the CO and myself thought Keylev would have got this FTF. Apparently Keylev had been here very early in the morning armed with a torch and couldn't find it.

Keylev stated that she had written a DNF.... There's NO log on the cache page was my reply..... DOH "its still in drafts" was Keylev's reply. 30 seconds later there's a DNF log on the cache page!!

Am sure the next log will be a FOUND Log from Keylev.... OR Avoyager..... as this was the other suspect that may have left a Geotrail!!!!!!

Thanks for a great cache Coblets and coming down to GZ to check on the cache placement.... Thank goodness I found it before you arrived as that would have been embarrassing if I still hadn't found it !!
