Having travelled on a passenger steam train back in the dinosaur days (according to my grandkids) I thought I would get REALLY side-tracked by completing as many of the REALLY Side Tracked series of caches. I have done a couple prior to today.Parking wasn't the best here beside the GZ, Use the parking waypoint.Cheers for the cache, tryfyn.
mrs c's tolerance for side trips for caches was getting stretched by this point so this was the last stop of the day before heading back to the Mount to our digs for the night. Another great write-up, thanks for these.A (long, for us) weekend break out at the BoP and a well timed visit it was, with some unseasonably warm spell of weather laying here and there, and we were the Benny Fisheries. We made a steady trip in from Rangitikei on Friday morning and settled for a walk around the base of the Mount as our only plan for the day. Saturday was a day out to Katikati via Omokoroa, and I had some designs on some of the Sidetracked caches in the area with a view to improve my 'porter' status. Sunday was a double waterfall day at Omanawa and Kaiate and that was really nice too. We managed a few Ad Labs to complete and really enjoyed our visit. Thanks to all the COs for their hides and maintenance.
Another sidetracked ticked off! Nicely hidden and still in good condition, spotted quickly and signed, found with Kiwi Does Stuff! TFTC
Visiting Te Puna today on a Thursday ride Ulysses from Hamilton. Like the Subtle hint. Year right. Tftc
I had the power not to be a nut at this cache, for some reason one of my tott wasn't in my caching bag, still managed to sign, tftc
Nice little cache, easy find. Liked the creativity on the cache. All good and signed. TFTC
Coordinates changed from:S 37 40.573 E 176 4.447Coordinates changed to:S 37 40.596 E 176 4.460Distance from original: 153.2 feet or 46.7 meters.Cache moved and hide changed. See new hint.
4th DNF today of many for me. And 4th DNF here. I even tried to reach up high with a stick, where no stick should have to go for a 1.5T (feet flat on the ground). A comment here; I don't believe all your caches are 1.5 D/T. DNF again .
Couldnt manage to find this one; it doesnt seem to be in the location the hint would suggest.
We were in the area today so decided to look for this cache too. Mrs nzk checked the hint object without success so called over Mr nzk, who spotted something on the ground nearby that turned out to be the cache container. We replaced it where we think it was supposed to be, but it could do with a CO checkup. TFTC tryfyn, thanks for another in the series.
Travelling from Tauranga to Auckland which is taking us 3 days because of the constant presence of geocaches. 100 years ago we would have got there much faster! Always enjoy a Sidetracked and have done many in the UK. Thanks for the history. Cache at the appropriate location and all fine. Thanks tryfyn for the smiley
Grabbed this fun cache on the way for a bike ride at the school with the kids. Cool cache, little bit hard to get the cache out from it’s hiding spot says Miss 5, a boost on mum’s shoulders helped! Kids loved the container, great idea! TFTC.
Came for a short drive out of town, really, really trying to deal to our last remaining Dot Days. For some 'strange' reason we have a few left to do in the week leading up to Christmas. Crossed one off today ... thanks for the placement, hugely appreciated.
Ā nice quick find on our cycle ride from Waitui Reserve to Te Puna. TFTC,
Came here last year & cache was missing so good to come back & turn it into a smiley. Buzzybb found it. Tftc
Came here last year, but the cache has since been replaced, so nice to turn this one into a smiley. TFTC
11.00am. Obviously the previous cacher never found this as the log was nicely in place. A very quick find even though there were a number of bikers around.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
We looked for a while where we thought it would be. Surely, where else could it be, maybe it caught the train
We had to watch out for a muggle in a Downer Truck wondering why we were loitering, but got there in the end. Cool wee cache!

One down another to go.Was a bit concerned about the height comment as i'm not very tall but once at GZ spotted the beast & yeah i can reach that. Thanks tryfyn, made my day.
This proved to be quite a challenge with a wandering dog and a lawnmowing neighbour to contend with. While dodging both of these grabbed the cache and took it away for log retrieval. Tools of the trade may be required here.
Thanks for the write up. Hard to believe there was ever a small
Station here.

Out biking from home to Omokoroa. Had to detour slightly for this one and quite pleased Richard was with me for this one as two dogs joined us. Luckily they looked scarier that they were Thanks for the series Tryfyn and the rest TFTC
On an early afternoon jaunt with brother and the dog... Our intention was to head west and attempt the new Adventure at Omokoroa.
With the Ad Lab out of the way, it was time to cut a track (pun intended) back into Tauranga... We happened to be parked up when a freight train rumbled past. A quick find on this hide - Thanks tryfyn and TFTC.

My sons first rugby game of the season gave me an excellent excuse to geocache. I dropped him off in Bethlehem and now here I am . This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward hide - replaced as per hint because it was just lying on the ground when I found it. A good amount of reading on this series... I can't say I've put in the time these deserve. Cheers tryfyn & TFTC

A trouble free find ..C.O.may like to check its location as I found it on the ground replaced where I think it should be after signing the log ..thanks Tryfyn ..you must have similar genes to "the seagnoid" with your collection of railway caches depicting the history of the great Eastern railways..it is great for me to reminisce as I remember travelling on the "flash as" and "fast as" back in the day "Railcar"
Doing a maintenance run on our caches after being away for 2 1/2 month's, and this was close by. Arrived and surmised where it would be. Well not quite, as it had escaped and was on it's way to catch the train which conveniently rumbled past as we snared the escapee. Replaced in aa per macwatt's log. Thanks for the series tryfyn.

We managed to squeeze just one more cache in before we headed off to visit the daughter and family and drop off some stones for the grandkids that we had dragged all the way back from the South Island for them. Nice quick find here - looks like Fish and Chips is on the cards for tea tonight. TFTC

We let muggle Mum search for this one alone, so I would say she's no longer a muggle!
Enjoyed reading about the local stations, I didn't know the history out this side of town, so we learnt something aswell. Thanks Tryfyn.
