Triangulation is the art of standing in a triangle, where GZ forms one of the angles. We created a scalene triangle, where one angle was GZ. This is only possible when one person stands further away than the rest. So Posums is the GZ angle, Tiz13 the next, and I am standing too far away. Thanks Sallies, a bit of fun was had here ??

A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in on Saturday after a bit of a delay.Im staying at the old Offices Mess building at the old Airforce Base and it is a wonderful old building.Day 3 begins so lets go find a few more caches.I met Tiz13 at the airport as they happened to be on the same flight over and we organised a day out after I missed their message yesterday so the plan was to meet up at the event near the Botanical Gardens. So Snips and Co, Tiz13 and me, Posums set out for a fun day out with plenty of laughs along the way and of course a few caches as well. After a bit of inner city caching it was time to hit the burbs for a bit more fun. After Walking the Walk we we making our way back and picked up the couple of caches that we passed on the way.The weather was perfect for a walk along here. The log is very wet and sorry we didnt have a replacement on us.Thanks Sallies TFTC.

This morning laying in bed I did a search on some old caches placed before mid 2003 OCW irondale. Two goals today- to check out the ocean side and to go to a lookout. Achieved both with a selection of old caches. We specifically avoided any that had logs about relentless bush bashing and knee deep mud. This cache was found quickly and exactly as the hint describes. Thankyou for maintaining this one over the yearsTFTC

Having recently moved to Christchurch from Wellington, it has been our pleasure to host some of the Wellington Geocaching crew for caching weekends. This weekend is The Seagnoids turn.TS and I made a plan today to hunt out some of the oldest caches around the Chch area. This was our first stop, and after a short walk to GZ the cache was a quick find. Had a chat with a wind surfer who was about to set off onto the estuary. Would love it give it a go someday. Thanks for the cache.

I have a few days between Christmas in Palmerston North and starting work again so I headed to Christchurch, home of numerous challenge caches I now qualify for. The last time I was here tackling challenge caches was 2014! So I got up at 5am, (because I always get up at 5am) and headed out the door for a few hours caching while I wait for the rest of the household to wake up.That done, today's plan was to tackle some older caches. So That Darn Bear and I worked out a bit of a salesman's route and started with this one. A bit of a problem find because it was easier than expected and we missed it on the first run through. Them's the breaks. Re the cache title - I suspected I knew what it meant - I was still surprised to find I was right! But while walking the last 20m to the cache we noticed a new cache had been published. So after finding this (since we were so close), we abandoned today's plan and headed off to find the new one. And then headed over towards Akaroa for yet another new cache. I was starting to wonder if I was going to get back in time to catch my plane, today being my last day in Christchurch. But of course I was - you don't miss flights!!Thanks for the cache.

Cache 1407 ️ Heading to Christchurch for a geocaching holiday this week where I’m targeting hidden days/months and a few D/T and to sign challenge caches. This cache was a needed hidden month. Started walking over to GZ with my geopup till I got to the gate and realised this was a non dog area So I tied the pup to a gate and told him to wait while I darted to GZ for a quick find T4TC ️

spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.

With mostly very nice Cool weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed

We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared Wink
So this box was also well found.

now I have another Smile on my personal cache card.

many thanks to [^] **Sallies** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

Nice easy find on our way back to the car after walking across the flats.

Trip log: When cheap flights presented the opportunity to go to NZ with GreyHams, who was keen to get the 5 2000 caches and the web cam I was of course very keen to tag along. I didn't want to miss out on that... Equally as keen for those caches myself and the first chance to get the passport out in a long time and head overseas while we could. Covid Happenings of course did put the trip in doubt and a last minute effort from GreyHams to get the flights changed and it was looking like this might actually happen... until I arrived I truly didn't think it would!

The cache list was quite simple, the 5 2000 caches and the webcams. Of course we did look at others as we travelled, types, DT, not chosen which were in abundunce and caches of quality, if your cache made our list it had a quality we needed. Many thanks for your cache that helped guide us along our way.

Certainly it was a memorable time, barefoot 500 plus metres across a mud estuary of shells and crabs was more fun than it should be. As was pushing through wet thick high flax or tall wet grass across to the caches. But the most memorable would be the fog, the thickest, most relentless fog but it provided some stunning scenery at times and was just crazy.

I loved seeing all the chinese takeaways that did fish and chips, the perfect hedges and a deserved shout out to Indian Zaika for its great food! Certainly with the fog and rain it was an interesting trip and we got quite drenched at times, it hid a lot that NZ has to offer but 'it's a caching trip' after all so it ticked all the right boxes and was very enjoyable regardless. Huge thanks to GreyHams for letting me tag along while he did all the planning, booking, driving and sending in the answers for the caches... as always!

Trip log:

International travel!!...OMG it feels good. Grabbed some cheap flights and anxiously waited for some outbreak to derail the plan, but that amazingly didn't happen. Sure, I had to scramble and reroute our trip via Brisbane & Sydney as we were originally going through the plague pit...aka Melbourne, but we still made it.

Having done most of the North Island, it was good to finally have a crack at the South. 5 year 2000 caches and a webcam, thats a nice little haul. Sure, some of the year 2000 caches involved bush bashing....in the rain/fog/mist...but we got them all. We had lots of other little targets like getting all our types/sizes/DT, NZ in particular has so many 'Not Chosen' size caches, super rare back in Oz, so we made sure to get as many as possible. If you are reading this, its because this cache had a quality we were chasing.

As always, the Earthcaches and the Virtuals took us to some really cool places, the Steampunk HQ and the boulders being birthed at the beach being the highlights. My favourite cache though would have to be the one where we had to walk 500m over a mud flat, dodging shells and crabs with our bare feet.

This trip will be remembered as the 'fog trip' as we saw a lot of it, which meant we saw little else. Oh, that and how every Chinese takeaway also doubles as the fish & chip shop....its a thing!

Day 3 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).

This is when it starts to get serious. I picked up my campervan this morning and by midday I was out on the road to start 2 weeks of touring around the South Island.
During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.

I wanted to find this particular cache to fill a hole in my Jasmer grid. Canterbury had turned on the weather for me so it was a gloriously sunny day as I parked up near GZ. There was only a guy throwing a ball for his dog, so no issues with muggles as I walked to where my GPS was taking me, and thanks to the helpful Hint this was a very quick find.

No issues with any aspect of this cache, so the log was swiftly signed and everything replaced exactly as found, and I was back on my way again.

Thanks for placing this cache.

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth Smile. And I love it! [:X]
Unfortunately, this great vacation is now coming to an end and Christchurch is the last visiting stop for this time Wink.
Sadly today (day #29) with again splendid, sunny weather was the last day for treasure-hunting on this trip Sad .
I dedicated it to visit a couple of ‘OLDIES’ [^] in the south and east of the city Big Grin.
A good decision, that was rewarded with awesome views and quite some adventures in the countryside Wink - E.G street closures Surprised.
Above that, some pre-solved mysteries, a cool challenge, the webcam and the virtual cache at CHR-airport were on the list [^]...
Happy to visit the selected jewels Cool - just like this one:
There were about one thousand geese on the path Surprised... They were not very amused about the disturbance Red Face and made a lot of noise... Wink
A nicely hidden oldie! [^] [:X]
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and longterm-maintaining this cool cache and best regards from Germany! SmileSmile
P.S.: I’ll be back for the next kiwi-adventure! Big Grin
