WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 80 - Yalgoo to Geraldton via Mullewa. After a great afternoon and night in the small town that is Yalgoo, it was time to head to the bustling metropolis of Geraldton. There were a few caches to do today, but five out of six of them were a short side trip off the highway to reach. Each was well worth the visit. I arrived in Geraldton in the early afternoon and had a late lunch as I set up. With the jobs done, I set out for a few caches around town for the afternoon. The challenge of suburban caching re-appeared and I was muggled out a few times and beaten by strings of DNFs at others. I did get enough to feel like I had a good day and I did the set of Labs at the HMAS Sydney Memorial. A very special place. Back to the van for dinner. Rain expected over the next few days, so it will be interesting o see how much I can get done. After Mullewa, I took a diversion on the North Tourist trail to check out two sites with caches. The display remembering this school is quite impressive and a lot more than some other remote closed schools have received. Thanks for the cache Team Outnabout48503.2 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & UMR Stonehenge A#43**Albida**

Travelling north with iluvtrekking to warmer climes but caching around Geraldton and surrounds for a few days. Geo- hubby was born at Mullewa hospital when his parents had a property at Tardun so we enjoy the occasional return visit. Loved this detour on the way and surprised at the number of cachers who have stopped to check out the history of this forgotten town. Thanks for enticing us to visit outnabout.

Day 13 of the road trip. After a couple of days exploring Mount Magnet and surrounds, today I continued heading west towards my intended overnight camping spot at Tenindewa Well. With a few stop offs on the way of course to pick up some caches Wink Haha, yep that sequencing baffled me too Smile Cache was a very fast find. Afterwards had a read of the history and wandered along to see the causeway built for the children to reach school. And to think I used to grumble about my walk to school...! No problems here today - TFTC

Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time, while travelling.

We are on the road travelling up through central Australian and down the coast of WA. I was happy to grab a few caches along the way and this was one of them.

Found after a short search in some local old history.

Thanks Team Outnabout for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Enjoying the history literally in the middle of no where. As I say everyday (at some point), I would never have come here if it wasn’t for Geocaching, so a favourite point from me. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird or Angry Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC Team Outnabout

Always good to read the history of these areas and even better when a cache has been placed in the area since you were here last. Found with Vinesta during a morning walk. The cache was pushed a little too far in when we found it so a bit tricky to retrieve. TFTC

Easy find here. Cache in great condition.

Well………. This was a real surprise and stroke of luck for us. I hadn’t noticed that this cache had been published, probably because it happened while we were way out in the middle of nowhere.
I decided to pack a picnic and head out to Mullewa to check on one of our geocaches and make another attempt at Teddy Bears Picnic. Luckily Ian took a look at the GC map and quickly informed me of these two geocaches. On our outbound journey and after following a road-train for a considerable distance it was good to be making the left hand turn.

I love this spot, this visit made even more pleasant with all of the green around - even the muddy track was a delight to see. We spent a while at GZ reading the history of this spot and wondering if the cache owner actually attended this school when it existed.

The cache was found quickly, log signed and all returned to spot before a motor home pulled in to disturb the tranquility.

Thanks. Love these history caches.

On a road trip up to the Mid West. Today, we drove up to Coalseam Conservation Reserve, and on to Mullewa where we stopped for the night. We enjoyed the variety of hides, particularly those that were placed on or near signs that depicted the history of the area. Thank you to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.
Very unexpected [FTF] here today. It was nice to open a brand new log.
Find #4005 for us today.

Tried for this one today while heading south from Carnarvon. Turned off at Binnu, drove through Yuna and 25km from GZ the Nundemarra River was in full flow and closed. We did a big detour out of there and then called it. Muddy roads in parts, fading light.... another day Team OutnAbout
