I spent the day around the North Haven and Semaphore area grabbing some caches along the way. Perfect Spring sunny day to be out geocaching.Mid retrieval I had a friendly muggle come over to check up on my. I gave him my geocaching spiel and he left satisfied I wasnt up to no good. All good here. Thank you gridge98, for placing Near Zap for the geocaching community.# # #15296 # #
Found easily, retrieving was a bit more difficult. Our new pole worked well but windy conditions had it swinging about. Finally got it down, signed log and returned. Tftc
TFTC. Definitely not a 3.0 difficulty or 3.0 terrain where we found it. No log book either. Guessing it's been muggled. Photo for evidence of correct cache.
Thanks Gridge98 for the cache. Finally this one is no longer green on my map. Having a fun day out with OzGuff, and using a borrowed pole and ladder. My first attempt with a pole.
It seemed like a good idea at the time... last year, when I attended the Mega Event in Rutherglen and talked to some people about the Great Leap event. I thought what a great way to spend the leap year. I immediately booked some accommodation and thought I'd figure out the rest closer to the event. During the Christmas break, I considered all the logistics involved and decided to go solo without the geokids. Flights were booked, childcare sorted, and now to find some caches. I flew in on the 29th and flew out on the 2nd... all in all, I only spent less than 48 hours in Adelaide but definitely plan to return. My first day was all about types of caches, and I managed to log 11 different caches, including an adventure lab. My second day, today, was about just hanging with other cachers. I met up with sharkiefan and FUF009, and together, we were FUSHS85. We set out on an adventure and collected a bunch of caches that required getting up high or down low. Lots of fun! This cache was quickly spotted and retrieved. TFTC and the adventure with new friends.
Found with FUF009 and Squeegee85.An afternoon trawling the upper suburbs for tree fishing and other interesting caches. Met up with other cachers throughout the afternoon, who were also of the same mentality. Tftc
Find # 13804I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Found with sharkiefan and Squeegee85Signed as FUSHS85Day 6. Still in the area..... today just going around picking up icons on the map and the odd high D/T.TFTC gridge98
Veni, Vidi, ViciHaving finally unlocked premium, its time to catch up on logs. Visiting Adelaide with the Gcrew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, Jtreetrack2, Neville_Devil, Quickhealer2 and SimsFamily) for a mega adventure. Thanks to all the Cache Owners for their caches, we had a very busy, but very enjoyable couple of days in Adelaide and surrounds targeting a D/T loop in a day and whatever other caches took our fancy. No rest for the wicked on this trip.
I took my first ever trip on a plane to Adelaide to cache with G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, Jtreetrack2, Quickhealer2 and SimsFamily) for a mega leap day adventure. After months of planning and puzzle solving we hired a minivan and set off on a mission to find as many caches as we could on our leap day adventure with the main goal of completing a Dt loop in a day. We started off by working our way down to Victor Harbour via the coast, then worked our way back to Adelaide via the inland route chasing different types, sizes, JASMER's, unusal D/T's, earthcaches, virtuals and more. Thanks to all the CO's who have placed and maintained all of the caches we found on this trip, I had a great time.
A couple of days off work so we can visit the City of Churches for the Great Leap Forward MEGA. The G-Crew met up at Adelaide Airport and all piled in to the Hyundai Staria Im pretty sure Staria means not that comfortable and be prepared to slide around in your seat. The G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, JTreeTrack2, Neville_devil, Quickhealer2 and Sims-family) have prepared for months and are ready to go. Puzzles have been solved, target caches listed, spare caches ready we are to get a Leap Day fizzy grid in SA. 7 Cachers checkToTTs checkCold drinks checkEnough time hopefully. All logs were signed or stamped with the G-Crew name to save time and space in the logs.Thank you all the CO's for the contributions and ongoing maintenance. We had a very tiring caching party. Sorry for the generic log but with 100+ logs to write I'll never catch up if I don't, my logs have been at 8 months unloved so have had plenty to catch up on.
The G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, JTreeTrack2, Neville_devil, Quickhealer2 and Sims-family) have descended on Adelaide with some seriously lofty caching goals as our sole objective, to be achieved at the expense of almost everything else (including sleep). With a minivan loaded with Cachers & TOTTs, hopefully time is the only thing that stands in our way With 2024 presenting us with a leap day, we have decided to target as many of Project-GCs Leap Day badge extensions as possible, with the primary objective of completing a fizzy grid in a day.South Australia became the logical choice due to the Mega event and the fertile, largely uncached grounds it provides for our team. Many months of planning and puzzle-solving (from simple to downright diabolical) have gone into this trip. Our selected matrix has evolved over time to account for other ongoing objectives.Fortunately, BFMC had a list of solved caches that gave a great starting point for our assault, but the many, many hours and many more group chat messages since we started planning this in 2023 have brought us to this point. All physical caches were either stamped or signed as G-CREW to save both time and log space. Thanks to all the COs who have placed and maintained these caches!Thank you, gridge98, for this Traditional cache.
Well the big day is here, we are finally in Adelaide after weeks of planning . The G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, JTreeTrack2, Neville_devil, Quickhealer2 and Sims-family) has some pretty intense goals that requires a very long day and no sleep to achieve. The last few weeks the message group has been awash with many many messages as we worked though all the puzzles in order to achieve our main goal of a full D/T loop in a day.We loaded the Hyundai Staria (Was meant to be a KIA Carnival, Not an upgrade ) with all the ToTTs we though or hoped we would need in order to achieve our goals. All logs were signed or stamped with the G-Crew name to safe time and space in the logs.Thank you all the CO's for the contributions and ongoing maintenance. We had a blast and sorry for the generic log but with so many logs to write I'll never catch up if I don't.
Hi gridge98, We found your 3.0 3.0 Small Traditional Near Zap ???? on 29/2/2024.Find 2778 for BFMC.In plain sight indeed! Quick find/retrieve then onto the next. We chose the remain on terra firma option! The G-Crew have descended on Adelaide with some seriously lofty caching goals as our sole objective, to be achieved at the expense of almost everything else (including sleep). Our selected matrix has evolved over time to account for other ongoing objectives. Fortunately, I had a reasonable list of solved but unfound puzzles from my last trip to the Tour Down Under a few years ago but the many, many hours, and many more group chat messages since we started planning this in 2023 have brought us to this point. All physical caches were either stamped or signed as G-CREW to save both time and log space. According to Google I have lived for 21 leap years + but how many more we do not know but the SA Leap Forward Mega has been and gone and what a great event. Our very lofty goal, completing a full D/T Matrix on a leap day. The G-Crew (BFMC, Bushfire, Dromaniax, JTreeTrack2, Neville_Devil, Quickhealer2 and Sims-family) have descended on Adelaide with some seriously caching goals as our sole objective, to be achieved at the expense of almost everything else (including sleep). We have to say a great big thanks to all the cache owners for looking after these caches for us to find. The hire cars had a big work out with all the gear and TOOLS that we thought we may require. We have decided to target as many of Project-GCs Leap Day badge extensions as possible, with the primary objective of completing a fizzy grid in a day.One of my first Megas was in SA in I think 2014 ( Murray Bridge) but as there, just so many caches of most D/T combos it made sense to target this Mega. We had a list of solved caches that gave a great starting point for our assault but distance was also a problem but I think we made our objective irrespective a great time was had even if we do not make our objective. Thanks to all the S.A. cachers for placing these caches and keeping them on the playing field.
What an amazing adventure through Adelaide. This was my first time to Adelaide and we had a very long day driving and grabbing as many caches as possible. Our very lofty goal, completing a full D/t Matrix on a leap day.Apologies for the generic log, but with so many caches we got today, we didnt have much time to log them as we grabbed them.We had no issues with any containers or hides, and all were in good condition, and well maintained.I was part of G-Crew as we tackled our list, we hired a seven seater van and drove all around Adelaide. The members of our hunt were Dromaniax, BFMC, and JTreeTrack2 who did their fair share of driving and route planning, Sims_family who was on recon and puzzle solving, Neville_devil our fearless high altitude cacher, and myself Quickhealer2.We have been planning this adventure for about 10 weeks, puzzle solving, route planning, and it all came down to the big day and we did so much.I was very lucky to be invited into G-Crew, and with all of our skills and strengths we got our task doneEach log was signed or stamped G-Crew, and I thank all the CO's for maintaining their caches through the chaos of this Mega eventthanks again for the adventureQuickhealer2
This cache was one of those found around or on the leap day February 29th, 2024 before, during or after the Mega event in Adelaide. Many thanks to all those owners who placed caches that VK7HCH and I found during our trip from Hobart to the Mega and return home again.
TFTC! 28 February 2024 2:25:06pm 7456 thanks to gridge98 for the cache! Off to the Great Leap yearMega in Adelaide. A stop off along the way! Targeted This one today as it was a tree fishing cache made a quick find down and back up in no time at all.
TFTC! Found on a lovely Saturday afternoon after finding a few caches in the area. Cache needs to be secured better because in high winds could make it fall out but still a good cache
Found this on the ground - will need some maintenance - also no log book. We have placed it loosely in the pine tree so the it's out of sight
Thanks for the cache!
Pineapplegoldy and AUSSIESPARKIE is at it again. Was a great winters day to get out side and find some caches!

Found it at the park bench. I hope we put it back into the tree at the spot
Came and found on the way to dropping 2 grandkids home. Footy training was happening, but no one was interested in what we were UP to. Retrieved cache easily enough, but I had trouble replacing it as the pole was playing up. One section seems to be jammed, so I'll need to sort it out when I get home. Thanks, gridge98, for the hide.
…CLIMBED and signed!!! When I decided to go on a quick caching adventure this afternoon with makingpie, I never dreamt that it might involve me ascending 6m into the air via a gum tree… don’t try this at home, kids! Yes, we DID decide to make the terrain rating harder, and here are the pics to prove it! There was a tense moment when a secondary branch broke underneath me- I lost my balance for a moment and definitely thought I was about to plummet to my doom but I steadied myself and it was only the logbook that fell! I sent the container down too so that makingpie could throw the whole kit and caboodle back up to me.
Makingpie was my coach, my “000 at the ready”, and even my “I’ll be your cushion!”
No need, thankfully… I lived up to my name and landed like a ninja!!!

Relatively quick find on the way home nice to finally tick this one off TFTC Gridge98
Jolly0, Otter61 and the Pineapple Guy ventured out for some caches inbetween the BOC breakfast event and Port Adelaide lunch event.
We stopped at a few caches on the way towards Port Adelaide but most was already found by me but it was a good day showing Jolly0 and Otter61 around the area.
Jolly0 and Otter61 were nice enough to let me borrow their big stick to help me get this one off my map finally.
Signed and returned.
Thanks gridge98 for this cache.
Find No.2357 for me on the 11th of January 2023.

I missed a delivery to home yesterday and the depot is in Gillman
So left work early today to make the trip from the CBD to collect it and thought I’d nab this cache while in the general area.
Spotted this on my approach. Deployed the TOTT, retrieved the treasure, signed the log and put everything back where I found it
Gets a FP from me ‘cos I looooove all tree fishing hides

I love the name of this one; sounds like it is perilously close to electrical cables, and if you slip up, you pay the price.
I’m on my way to an event in Grange, and the gear is in the car, so I thought I’d swing by, half expecting the immediate area to be busy with it being school holidays. It was actually dead quiet, so I gave it a go. The cache came down easily and quickly, but it was quite a breezy day, and getting the cache back to its perch wasn’t easy. Today (Thursday) is bin day and the lady across the road came out to put some last minute items in the bin - she gave me that look and then went back inside. Finally got the cache all the way along its home branch and just made it the event in time.
Thanks for the cache gridge98.

A beautiful evening to ZAP a cache and turn my to a .
The other day I noticed this had reappeared, so tonight I wandered past with my muggle friend and my pole to stamp a shiny new log book.

I came here previously and easily spotted the cache, but didn't have the TOTT with me. Came back today and it's not where I previously located it, nor could I find it anywhere. The colour, size and location made it easily visible, so I'm fairly certain it's gone missing.
We arrived here at dusk, but failed to spot it. Next time we'll come in the daylight, or with a more powerful torch.
We were on our way home but decided to do one more while the TOTT was in the car, a cold night out with weredunn4 while we looked up and hooked a cache, thanks for placing this one for us to find.
Spent a fun evening with Kronklee caching along Port Rd on a cold but calm winters evening, targeting caches from Welland up to Port Adelaide, particularly ladder and pole caches, but also some trads, multi's and puzzles along the way..
I remember seeing this one previously when in the area but didnt have a TOTT.
Tonight we had the equipment and used the TOTT and retrieved the cache.

So I asked Meggs what she wanted to do for Mothers day....Cache of Course!!! OOh and somewhere nice for lunch.. So we headed out toward the Port area to grab some caches and have Lunch!! Luckily we had the required TOTT that made the terrain reating easier.. so no photos..TFTC
Lots happening today, so it was a short drive around to a few caches this afternoon [^].
Stopped by here a few weeks ago, but didn't have the required equipment [B)].
No such problems this time around [8].

Put the ute in for a service & new tyres. Organised a day of caching with earthlight.
Another quick find while we cache around the Port and surrounding areas.
Got a hell of a neck ache from this cache. Kept getting stuck on the knots and there was a constant breeze that was not helping.
Happy I did not break Liz's brand new TOTT like I did with locus cache on first use.

Found after dropping off BantamCT at the airport at 5am and deciding to head northwards to clear up a cluster of caches on LeFevre Peninsula, then back through the suburbs to home. The first half a dozen or so caches were found by torchlight, then some in the increasing dawn light as the sun rose. Fourteen caches for the morning and back home in the Hills for breakfast! Thanks for the cache gridge98!
Nice to go for a fishing expedition in town. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird, Liz & Bruce. It’s a great day for caching. Took TB. TFTC gridge98

A trio of befuddled Geo animals decided to go a wandering.
Our trio consisted of a Rat, a Starfish and an Adder.
We decided to target around the Port.
It was a warm but windy day.
After parking the Geomobile, the cache was quickly spotted.
Retrieved the cache with right TOTT.
Once the log was stamped, it was replaced.
A lot of laughs were had today. Tftc

Back to Wednesday Wandering for some members of the Befuddled Puzzle Solving Group. We gathered at the Rat Nest and myself, Blackadders and S.A. Sewer Rats headed out for a day of caching in and around Lefevre Peninsular. Except for one cache that is currently off line and 1 DNF we managed to find all we looked for. As usual there were a few laughs, a picnic lunch and these are the caches we found [B)]
Okay - so this is near Zap. Where's Zap [?][?][?][?] I had the correct took and so the container was soon in hand without any hair raising photo's necessary. Dropped in a geocoin.
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks gridge98 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

Dropped the monkey at work down the road and remembered JollyO mentioning this cache this morning. The wind had picked up considerably but not a problem for my semi damaged TOTT. Bought along my tape but not required. Lots of angry birds and someone sadly sleeping rough nearby, but tried not to both either.

Interesting D/T of 3/3, is this because it can't be decided whether it is a high difficulty(with pole), or a higher terrain?
The cache is in plain sight but almost impossible to scale without additional equipment being used, making it a 1/4 or 1/4.5?
If using some current apparent cacher thinking that if it can be retrieved with feet on ground, with a pole then maybe it is a 4/1.5 or 4.5/1.5?
Neither mode of retrieval is really a 3/3?
If using a pole is a requirement of a cache page, to gain a 4.5/1.5 but a ladder does the same job (retrieving cache) then that is an 'additional logging requirement' which not allowed if to be published.
Having said that, in the past, it was always accepted that if a cache was high in a tree, then it would have a higher terrain rating. So what has changed, just cos some cachers can get a cache down without leaving the ground, it's not like it hasn't been possible in the past?
Anyways a 3/3 is a compromise I guess? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

A day down in town with Froghoppin brought us here.
Hmmm what's this "zap" about? near power lines??
No it seemed this T3 cache should need some tools to retrieve.
We came suitably equipped. Someone was living rough a short distance from the cache,
but they didn't seem to care.
Armed with the needed tools we looked up... and then down.
Seems the weather or a heavy possum may have been here in force.
Used our tott anyway to achieve an altitude more fitting to the description on return.
Nothing zapped
Many thanks to gridge98 for hiding this very bright cache on our SA geo map game board

Most Geocaches are located and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck!
---
Please do stay safe when caching.
Lookout for mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]
Make sure Travel Bugs are the only bugs you share and pass on
We really appreciate all those placing quality caches out and about especially away from the city crowds,
it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting

A day out with Mattycat to tackle some around the western suburbs some we both needed and the odd one only one of us needed the smilie which helped narrow the search, came prepared with all the right TOTTS but we didnt need them for the retrieval it was still attached to a piece of branch on the ground, nice easy find and sign, we id however return to a lofty position to which we hope matches the terrain difficulty rating

Spent a really pleasant afternoon caching on the Lefevre Peninsula and this was one of the caches found before dropping in to visit some friends in the area. After just doing one of these much higher up, this one presented it's own problems going up and down the spindly bit it was on. Saw something a little more solid a bit higher up but returned to where found.

Easter 2020 was supposed to see South Australia Geocaching hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Due to COVID restrictions the event is now postponed to early October 2021. Check out the event page and our website for new details. We would love to see you at this four day event. Mega event sponsored by Wattle Range Council, Geocaching.com and many other supporters. Lots of caches to find with two classic geo art trails including the famous animated bottle and glass.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

No zapping today. I looked and then spotted it. Those extra long cable ties acted like a magpie deterrent (my stick being the bike helmet). Once I pecked the cache the game was all over.
Thanks to gridge98 and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
I snuck out this afternoon for a little run along the coast. Managed to get *STF* on this one sometime around 4ish. There were people in the park but were paying no attention to me. I managed to unhook the lashed up container pretty easily and signed the book in 2nd spot. Getting it back on there was a bit harder, the small fork at the end gave me a bit of grief. Its back on, and I slid it right the way up to the trunk. Thanks for the cache Gridge98, always love using the pole TOTT.
Yay a FTF gold. Heading to Semaphore for lunch with my golfing mates and a cache is published. Lucky I had the TOTTS in the car. Thank you for the placement of the Near Zap cache gridge98 find number 8071 on 18 July 2021 at 12:58 pm
