Sadly this was a DNF for me. I looked all over the place. I come across an old army belt, a leaf covered in interesting eggs. But no cache. I am sure it is there the heat just made me de used to give up quicker than usual.

The two first time cachers may have been completely bamboozled by this hide but I was not. I noticed the depressions and checked them
Out. Have to not that the stamp that has been placed inside the cache has leaked all over the log sheet turning most of it purple and whilst purple is one of my favourite colours it makes reading the log harder so I’ve removed the stamp. It isn’t a letterbox so it shouldn’t matter. I didn’t however replace it with swag so hopefully I haven’t upset the caching gods too much. Thanks for the late night cache and the spider web dodge.

TheTownsville Mega Event finished but having another week in town to do more caching & sight seeing.
A morning out with the Snakepitters & geono on their bikes, heading back along the RRPT picking up the many caches on this trail & a few others along the way'
Luckily for Bill he had 2 very good tree climbers amongst the group. This is one of his favourite ways of caching. Even to find a couple that we had DNFs last time we were in Townsvile
Thankyou choppersrule for placing this cache.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 13. Townsville post Mega section Day 1. Now all the organised activities were over, it was time to catch up with some missed caches. In the morning I returned to Mount Stuart do get the final LAB and do a few more caches with SmittenGranny. After that I went by myself to do a section of the Ross River Power trail on my scooter. As I completed this section I caught up with TikvaNZ & Loci and was able to join them for a few more caches as well, Loci's balance is way better than mine. It has been great caching with Canberran cachers this far away from home.

Thanks for the cache choppersrule

Day 13 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. Today was the last day for team FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, ZQX and I). We started the morning with the early event, followed by a relaxed breakfast. Then we meandered the Strand to pick off a few caches, before heading for the airport to drop off the others. I stayed on for a few more days starting with some kayaking with Loci612. I finished the day with some solo caching attempting to find the remaining caches on the south side of the river, but ran out of time to find them all. Cache easily found. TFTC.

With a goal of collecting 150 caches in a day, our plan was to tackle both geoarts, hit the RRPT and collect some other caches in between. An early start was in order to achieve this goal before getting ready for the Trivia night at the MEGA.
A huge thank you to all the COs for preparing and placing the caches we collected today, the variety of hide locations, types and containers was fantastic.

The day had come; the plan to get 150 caches (excluding labs) in a day for another challenge was here. The planning and prep started two months ago when I was at the Wangaratta mega. With the recent zoom events for puzzle solving a big help and the Geoarts of the saint and the book catering for two thirds of the task, it was just a matter of finding 50 more caches so as I was able to complete. Today I had Willis007 with me; we picked on a few quick easy finds as we were passing and motoring between arts. We then grabbed the bikes and went for a ride around along the Ross river parkway or is that power trail.

The Geoarts were found easy and thank you. The book art did slow us down a little with some hides a little tuff to find. the power trail was fun some good caches and some that also slowed us down. However, by the end of the day we were done and the challenge completed.

Thanks to my caching buddies, the CO’s for the caches and the great areas I got to see today.

Visiting Townsville for the Mega and with only a little time up our sleeves before meeting up with rellos for lunch we went for a short stroll along the river walk. Nice quick find and we were able to replace unobserved. TFTC

With 3 traditional dot days left to complete the Traditional challenge I’ve signed in Brissy I will be in the area several times in the next couple of weeks.

Quick find here with just 4 left within 200km.

Thanks choppersrule for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

Nothing stealthy about walking through a forest with a floor of dry leaves. Was only one place I thought I should look here and that’s where it was. Thanks choppersrule for placing this. Always nice to see someone happy getting a FTF and reflect on it in the paper log.

Thanks for the nice cache. Was well protected by the natural fallen camo and a jumpy gps, but got it after a few loops between the most dominant features

Easy but not easy. Good hide.

We woke up to another great morning with clear sunny skies and light winds so decided it was a great day to go for a ride along the Ross River. The added bonus of series of caches on both sides added to the attraction.
The trails were well formed and flat to undulating and the cache styles varied. Some tree climbs we had a go at where we could spot the cache and others, discretion was the better part of valour! Some we just didn’t bother to try! We managed an Earthcache and qualified for a challenge.
At one stage we spotted a Johnstone crocodile while searching for a cache near the water. Heard 3 others splash in as we approached. Then around the corner we saw turtles and later in a scrubby area quite a few wallabies. Water birds were also quite common.
At the furtherest point where we crossed the river for the return journey we came across a cafe where we were able to sit and enjoy a coffee.
All in all, a great day out with some good caching. Feeling a little tired as we are writing these logs, but what a great day out.
Our thanks to the local COs for developing and maintaining these caches. It is much appreciated.
