Reperio 07:00Up early again this morning for a full day of caching around the Yass and Goulburn area, and fortunately the rain that hung around all day yesterday had mostly passed by. While the ground was still pretty wet, most of the caches were found in good order. Another great day caching in the area.Gratias DARKSIDEDANAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV

On yet another journey south, and is often the case, we like to drop in to Gunning for a cuppa and this morning also some breakfast. Each time I come here, I try to make time to grab a cache while in town, but it has been a while since my last visit and I was surprised to see an Adventure Lab here now! But that can be for another time. It was very cold here this morning, but of course, thats no barrier. I chose my target and drove up to this lovely piece of history. I read all the plaques as I made my way in and out of the zone, and was enthralled by the history. Would have loved to have gone inside, and to be able to read the cornerstone at the back of the church. There was also a piece of the roof tiles broken on the ground around the back. I will most definitely have to come back when the huge trees lining the path into the church are back in full leaf, lovely church.By the way, I did find and sign the cache as well .

What a beautiful church. The adjacent hall reminds me so much of the church I used to attend 70 years ago. The church itself was not unlike this hall and we used to go into the minister's cottage for Sunday School.
Thanks for the cache and bringing back such beautiful memories DSD. SL Oh yes I found the cache easily and it is in excellent condition.

Quick find while having a break driving home from Sydney and after lunch by the river. Love geochaching for a quick family activity and destination. TFTC.

Like a number of other caches we have found in the area, this cache has no Geocaching ID, easy treat for a muggle!

A lovely day with the sun out and not much wind, allrounder and I headed out to find a few caches.
Fifth stop for the day. What quaint church. The walk through the gates with trees lining the path to the front door looks lovely. Unusual to see a county church with no graveyard.
Quick find, log signed and container replaced.

There was a bit of a choice for today, with either three events in quick succession, one in Canberra and two in Goulburn, or an afternoon caching to Goulburn and then just the two Goulburn events. I chose the later so I could do a bit more caching and have a bit of a later start to the day. I had one DNF to start the day, then managed the remaining caches, nearly all roadside ones before arriving at the CITO. When the Canberra crew arrived, it was time to squeeze in a few tree caches before dinner. After a great dinner it was the drive home, quite relaxing after a most enjoyable day.

My last trip to Gunning coincided with services at the church, so I deferred the visit. Today the site was all clear and with a good hint I was soon signing the cache and heading on for some more caches along the Hume Highway.

Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

The FFLL ladies reached out to see if I had any plans for today, of which I didn't, so I was kindly invited along for a mini adventure around the NSW rural areas for some caches and some events, sounds like fun Big Grin So we coordinated a set off time and made our way north. We collected a few caches here and there and attended 3 events plus a CITO in a fun filled day.

We had scoped this one prior to attending the event however we noticed there was a church market happening at the same time. Once the event was over, we heard others state they found the cache so we returned, spoke to the local church goers and then located the cache. Lovely old church thats for sure.

Cache signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the placement DSD and thanks to the FFLL ladies for the invited for another fun filled mini adventure Big Grin I sure do miss these little day trips that we used to have, hopefully more to come Smile

Put a call out to Rapidlywild to see if she wanted to join us on a tiki tour to attended 3 events and a CITO and a munzee event thrown in for good measure in rural NSW also picking up any new caches that had popped up since we were last out and about.

Attempted this one after the event with Injuryman joining us. Quick find at GZ then it was time to explain to the locals what we were actually doing here and why they had seen others walk down this way.

Thanks for the hide DARKSIDEDAN and thanks for the fun day out Rapidlywild.

JohnoMawbs’s 30/10/22 Day Trip
I heard there were four events on today and better yet, I was even asked to attend them. So, this meant I couldn’t miss them. I left home at 6am and headed for Yass for B’fast. After B’fast, I did some caching before the first event. A nice event at Gunning and then it was time for more caching on the way to Crookwell. Then it was time for the Crookwell CCE which was another fun event. A forty minute wait for lunch but I had plenty of conversations about all things Geo with the other attendees. Once again, it was time to do some more caching which included cleaning up as many caches as possible. This included caches in Crookwell, along the way to Goulburn and in Goulburn. Now time for the combo event which was made up of both Geocaching and Munzee. A different but certainly still a fun event to attend. Then came some more caching before the final event. The last event was a CITO which was also great fun. Then it was time to head home but not without two more finds, one of which was a FTF. Big Grin I arrived home about 7:30pm after my great day out. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and events I attended for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. Big Grin TFTC’s and TFTE’s. Big Grin
Today’s Highlights:
27 Finds + 4 Events = 31 Smile’s
4 Events (CCE, CITO & 2x Regular)
Geocaching in Crookwell (First Time)
Finding two new D/T combos
An unexpected FTF
Avenging DNF’s
Getting the 2022 CITO Season #2 Souvenir

Having arrived to the first event of today early, others and I headed off to this cache. With all of us looking it made for a quick find. I just hope we didn't disturb the Church service and/or the garage sale happening close to GZ. Thanks for bringing me DSD.

Beautiful church, I don’t often get to visit Gunning but the stars aligned today with an interesting detour I had to make + extra time up my sleeve. This cache looked like a great excuse to stop by in the town itself!

This one had us worried for a while but then we figured it must be alright to go in and search, so we did. A short search and it was found.

Although there was plenty of caching still to be done around Yass it was time to move on. We will be back.
We set off for Gunning, only a short trip. The day started cold and a bit foggy, but the sun soon came through and set up the best day we have had for some time weather wise.
There were a few Traditionals to be had en route as well as some Flags of the World as well as the caches we had not found in Gunning. After lunch we headed out to Jerrawa and Dalton where we got 2 Earthcaches.
A bigger day than we had initially planned for, but you cant waste the good weather!

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache DARKSIDEDAN.

50th find!
On a quick day trip out to the Gunning markets, we thought we would go get a cache nearby. We found it with no problem at all except we forgot the pen. We took a photo to mark the find and to remember the fun time out. Thank you for this fun cache.

Day 4 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. The first three days have been nothing but trouble. Floods to be avoided on day 1, bogging the car for most of day 2 and the in-car fridge deciding to stop working properly on day 3. Starting day 4 hoping things can only get better...

After finding a few other caches in Goulburn it was time to move on towards Yass and Canberra. Thankfully there was no one else around here today, we definitely had the feeling we didn't belong here, unlike other church grounds we have wandered over the years. No problem locating the cache and signed the logbook in recognition of our visit. TFTC

21-Apr-22
After the busy (and wet) summer had finished, The Rats floated the idea of a trip to the area around Canberra and Yass with Steeba and myself. We compared diaries, and had a two day mid-week window where we could make things happen, in the week wedged between Easter and ANZAC Day.

The weather was on our side for the first time in I forget how long, and we were able to make the most of our time opportunity.

A lot of excellent caches were found, and some fantastic terrain caches too. A few power trails, some crafty hides, some hard hides, and even some climbs that I could not do... even with our ladder!

Thank you to all of the cache owners for placing their hides. This boiler plate log does not reflect the quality of the hides. Most importantly thanks as always to my two great caching mates for their company!

Cheers

21-Apr-22
The Rats, Hoojar and myself teamed up for an assault in and around the Yass area for a couple of days- a most enjoyable caching trip with my mates. Plenty of power trail type finds but a lot of great variety here and there, particularly around Yass itself. We started off on Wednesday night and finished up Friday afternoon. TFTC!

21-Apr-22
The Gong Gangsters (steeba, Hoojar and The Rats) took advantage of an extended Easter / Anzac break to head out for another caching juggernaut through the Southern Highlands and Yass regions. Blessed with beautiful weather we targeted a few powertrails and high D/T rated caches.

After 2 full days we'd collected a plethora of finds, made some new friends, laughed alot, pushed our bodies beyond the comfortable level and most of all - had a great time with mates. Thanks to all the CO's for your caches and those who tagged along.
