With some beautiful weather today, along with some time to myself, I decided to get out for the afternoon and do some caching. I had been thinking, for quite some time now, about heading down to the Port Noarlunga/Old Noarlunga area in search of a few caches and today seemed like the perfect opportunity for such an endeavour. The one thing I forgot to take into consideration, however, was how many muggles would also want to head to the seaside on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I dodged the muggles at Port Noarlunga, and found the caches there that I could, before moving on to a slightly more muggle free area for a slightly more peaceful end to my caching day. All caches were found in good condition unless otherwise stated.Find #11004, at 03:55 pmTFTC

It was getting towards the end of my visit to Old Noarlunga and my day of caching. I swung past this particular GZ to have a quick look. My GPS was off a little bit so it took longer than it probably should have done. Once I used my caching senses rather than the GPS I was able to locate it. TFTC Smartich0ke
Now in the McLaren Vale area for a few days, Ms Atalanta and I started caching early on. This one was not far from where we were staying, and a quick find.

A beautiful morning to find a cache along the river. The birds were very noisy and I was a bit worried I’d get pooped on but I made the find and signed unscathed. TFTC
Nothing found at any GZ with a 1* (wheelchair accessible) rating.
I went down the embankment, to no avail also....

Knowing the area a bit we did suss out from the CO about something prior to doing the visit. We have kayaked this part of the river several years ago, its a shame through here there is so much portage but still enjoyable. Mrs Kookas son played cricket for The Shoes just up the road, always loved how they had taken on the geography of the area as their name.
e Onkaparinga River, known as Ngangkiparri or Ngangkiparingga ("place of the women’s river") in the Kaurna language, is a river located in the Southern Adelaide region in the Australian state of South Australia. Rising in the Mount Lofty Ranges, the river's estuary extends from Old Noarlunga to the river's mouth between the suburbs of Port Noarlunga and Port Noarlunga South.
The Onkaparinga River is the second major river within the Adelaide metropolitan area, after the River Torrens. It is a source of fresh water for Adelaide. Mount Bold Reservoir was constructed between 1932 and 1938 along a section of its path approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) inland. Much of its flow is diverted via a tunnel from the Clarendon Weir to the Happy Valley Reservoir, that in turn supplies some 40 per cent of Adelaide's water supply. Most years the flow to the reservoir is supplemented by water pumped from the River Murray via a pipeline from Murray Bridge.
Downstream from Mount Bold Reservoir is the Clarendon Weir. To maintain levels at Clarendon Weir, water is released only as required. The Onkaparinga Gorge extends from Clarendon to Old Noarlunga. An estuary extends from Old Noarlunga to the river's mouth between the suburbs of Port Noarlunga and Port Noarlunga South. The estuary is a significant breeding area for local marine fish species.
Thanks Smartich0ke for the cache and bringing us on a pretty drive. Took nothing, left nothing signed log and replaced safe and sound as found.
