Youll need to be tall. I had to hold my phone above my head and use the video function to see the cache. It was a stretch but I was just able to reach when standing on toes. Nice container, log is intact but very wet. The ink has run on a few peoples signatures.0 platypi spotted today. TFTC
Lucky my husband is tall. the paper was wet but we were still able to write our name. No platypus, I think due to time of day
Hi S_38. Today I found your cache .A quick plan was hatched last night and this morning put into action. We met up at Brighton and headed up the road to Elderslie to complete our fishing trip and then headed via lots of caches to the event at National park. Thanks for hiding the cache for me to find today. Thanks S_38 for hiding this cache. Now that my calendar and streak are completed, I can just cache for the fun of it. Your Traditional cache, Weir the Platypus, was just what I needed to get me out of the house and exercising. This is my find #1854 at 11:39 on 3/8/2024. After a great day of getting caches and attending an event in Mount Field National Park the group I was with targeted this cache before returning home. A quick find was made and our names added to the log. A beautiful area but no platypus sighting to report.
Having searched for this one before you would think I'd know where the turn off was..... when we finally arrived at GZ we made an easy find now I was looking in the right place, soon the names of the group were all added. For once I knew what I was doing today well in advance, we had a game plan with critical timings so we could all meet up and get where we needed to be on time, I had already filled up the car and offered to get EeeeePeeeessss the FW a FW, collected him and his stuff early from Cornelian Bay, we then drove to Tynwald Park and after Parkrun we rendezvoused with Lil Rafa and icybeetas for the drive up to Mt Field National Park.Found on 03/08/2024 at 14:35:00 thanks to S_38 for placing this cache for me to find. Hi S_38 @ Lekker_Ding, thanks for the cacheWhat a great day!Attended Tynwald Park parkrun and enjoyed a 5km walk with stainless-steel-rat.Then we collected Lil Rafa and icybeetas and headed to Mt Field National Park to the winter feast event, stopping for two caches along the way; and a pre-event Ad Lab and bonus walking to Russell Falls. This national park never disappoints.Enjoyed lots of company and food at the event - complete with open fire and marshmallows - and once that wound down, we wended our way here, only missing one turn due to frivolous nonsense.A nice easy quick find once at GZ - with the 3 aforementioned cachers.Unfortunately, no platypus sighting to report.Special thanks to my chauffeur Rat, and our travelling companions.Cheers EPs
Found the cache, nice container! Also spotted a platypus searching for food at the dam, didnt seem to pay any attention to me watching! Glad i didnt skip this one while i was in the area! TfTC!
Apologies for the delay on this one. I was unable to travel far for a while. Had planned for this past weekend but even the best plans go awry. Will replace shortly.
Cache confirmed missing. Unfortunately we don't have a replacement so will come back in the new year.
Camping at Mount Field, finding a few caches around the place. Definitely had to stop in here after reading about the platypus sightings. Found the cache with no problem, walked up stream a bit hoping to see a platypus but a bit skeptical. Walked along the railway track and wandered back down to the water and someone said they saw one. I thought they were pulling my leg but sure enough there it was, not too far from the bank. We then spent a good hour just sitting on the bank watching this platypus play around in the water. He must have found something good to eat as he stayed in the same spot diving down and then coming back up. There may have also been a couple around as we spotted one on the other side as well as swimming up and down, they can move quite quickly! It was a really cool experience which we would never have had without looking for the cache! TFTC
Such a great spot, I had no idea existed.
I would be driven past this road every second weekend. The funny thing is I mentioned it to my mum about this location and she had no idea about it either- she grew up in Maydena.
The cache was quickly found and then I set up on the bank, sitting on a woolies bag to avoid getting a wet butt- I was determined to see a platypus- I didn’t

Thanks for the cache S_38 @ Lekker_Ding.
With the GeoGSP's at doggy daycare today, I was keen to visit the nearby national park and find some caches. Still had a couple of hours up my sleeve, so added this to my list of caches.
The summer I worked at Mr Field, all the staff suggested the weir as a reliable place to spot platypus, but I never spotted one here - the creek next to the campground inside the park was the spot where I had the most success.
An interesting little structure here - just able to retrieve the cache, and after adding my name, carefully replaced.

Decided to stop here in the last light of the day before heading to the nearby NP Campground. And how lucky where we, there was a platypus right by the shore. We almost forgot about the cache. Leaving a FP here as well as a photo of the platypus. TFTC
In the area, so decided to find this cache. A quick find. No platypus sighted today. River flowing fast. TFTC
We continued today our tour in Tasmania, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to S_38 @ Lekker_Ding for the generation of this nice cache Weir the Platypus (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Day 3 of our Australia Tour 2023, travelling from Hobart to Mt Field National Park. In the afternoon we walked the Three Falls Circuit. Later we visited this cache and actually saw a platypus [^] Favorite point for showing this location. Thanks!
Another one on our Tasmanian Tour. Found after a day at Mt Field NP and headed over here for a quick cache. No luck on the platypus though although the weir was flowing nicely
Staying at Mt Field this evening with TT016, PrincessAria1 & LittleG00sE on our Tasmanian Holiday.
What a beautiful place to stay. We walked to Russell Falls & Horsefalls during the day then to Russell Falls in the evening to check out the Glow worm grotto. A fantastic experience.
We even saw a platypus in the wild near the weir. The evening was lovely and peaceful except for the plonking as fish leapt out of the water catching their evening meal.
The cache was easily found, signed & placed back as found.

After a lot of rain we saw the sun again this morning. So we decided to go for a walk through the beautiful forest nearby our campsite. We also had a look at the beautiful falls on our stroll.
Thx for hiding!

The platypus was here, unfortunately we scared him away as we arrived

Found quickly, interesting fishing shelter, didn’t see the platypus as it was in the middle of the day, Thanks!
We have been wanting to come out this way for awhile as we wanted the do some maintenance on 2 of our caches. We were grandchildren free for most of the day and no appointments so we decided to do our maintenance run and do a few caches that have appeared since our last visit!
Lovely walk along the river. A quick find by malemebsec.

First find for the day! Just as the rain started coming down. No platypus today but a beautiful spot either way!
Hi S38 and Lekker Ding
What a great spot for a cache
Arrived at the site and immediately spotted a fish trying to swim up the weir.
After some patience got a great shot of the fish in the air trying to make it up the weir again (Photo below)
Went and found the cache which was fairly easy, but then spent approx 30 minutes on the bank watching a platypus about 5 metres from the parking spot.
He / She would go down and come back up every 30 seconds or so and I got some great pictures

Found while visiting the area Thanks for placing a cache for me to find while visiting the area SL Cheers from Tumut
Arrived at site about 7pm, cloudy day.
Saw one platypus on far side of river, but a far away.
Found cache. tFTC
Headed back to weir. Another, or perhaps, same, platypus feeding on same side of river but obscured by low tree leaves
Disappears for a bit. Suddenly surfaces and swims over and feeds in mud at my feet. Got a great 45sec video. though

We were passing through late this afternoon after a day out at Adamsfield and decided to do a quick detour to search for this cache. Glad we did! We spotted several platypus and got some great video & photos too. The cache was a quick find and surprisingly there were no other entries in the logbook. TFTC!
