I found the rope, climbed down, searched in all possible spots I could find. Thought maybe the rope used to be a bit longer, so checked furter down, still no find. This must be an excellent playground for kids!

The oldest Jarstrat kid was keen to check this one out given the terrain rating. He found the rope and down he went but after a good search he couldn't find anything. The youngest and I went down the easier way to search too but none of us could find the cache. Was a good adventure though!

Found it! One of the more adventurous finds. Photos helped after scrambling around on the wrong side of the pond.. Then I saw it! Just a matter of getting there..Signed Callum + H

Came out to Leigh for a first to find today and thought, while here I might as well try to find this one since I hadn't been yet. Was out with puppy and had to dodge the attention of some DOC people measuring out the path. A previous log helped with access although what I initially thought was the hide wasn't and realised I was out some metres. Thought there were more people on the path and tried to wait them out but in the end I think the voices were coming from one of the nearby houses! Found the hide, signed the log and then had to hurriedly put it all back because puppy was trying to pull me and I thought I might end up falling. All good in the end. Thanks for the adventure Gareth C!

Nice little challenge here. Photos help to locate the area of the cache, but the route down as suggested in the description was not the most efficient for us. Thankfully GeoMum suggested going around down by the stream, close to the bridge. This proved much safer and the cache was spotted quickly from this angle.

Beautiful bush walk. Thankfully my daughter spotted the rope. Went down with the rope and found it! Thank you for the adventure Smile

Down this way for a drive while Brynderwyns are open. Stopped by here and made our way down to the cache. Decided to head around the bottom which was a lot easier. Cache quickly located. Signed and replaced. TFTC

Have been very keen to come and check out this cache...having heard of it from Merlot and Pazza....and having seen their photos!
When I got here today with Mrs JAG , merlot58 and nette1234 it was different to what I had imagined in my head.
Not actually a hole...just a bank down to some water.
Was happy to let the younger two of our group shimmy down the rope..
Merlot having already done it before.
Great place for a cache.. but I agree it needs a higher terrain rating.
After this adventure we carried on to find three more geocaches on this very pleasant Coastal Walk...
Thanks for this hide!
Sorry that Hedge the hedgehog had a sad ending here.
Strangely ...I have just been listening to an Audio Book ; and heard about the huge decline of the Hedgehog population...

A plan was made with 3 other Westie ladies (Merlot, Nette and Supernannny) to head out to Goat Island as the weather was amazing - a perfect sunny and mild Autumnal day, just perfect for a road trip. After Goat Island we made our way south visiting a few coastal walkways along the way.
We knew what we were in for at Hedges Hole, as Merlot had previously found this cache and told us about it. This did not put us off, and after making our way through the lovely bush and over the bridges we made our way to the top of the rope. MrsJAG was the first one down the rope and soon spotted the cache. She added some waterproof log paper, as the other log was a little damp and hard to write one. Nette soon followed down the rope and joined in the fun here.
Thanks for the adventure here.

Cache needs new waterproof container and/or log paper and a change of terrain rating.

After visiting Goat Island with Pazza2 and stopping for a lovely lunch at the Sawmill Cafe we decided to check out this cache before heading home as it still hadn't been found after 2 1/2 months. It's a lovely walk to gz through the bush and we soon arrived at gz and spotted the hint item. I think the glass of bubbles at the Sawmill fortified me a little for the scramble down. as this is definitely more a T3.5 or T4 as it's a steep drop off and there isn't much else to hold on to besides the rope, and not too many solid footholds to be had either. After checking out a couple of spots I ventured a little further and spied the cache. Clinging on for dear life I retrieved the log which is very damp and managed to scratch our names on it for a joint {FTF}. I also retrieved the TB as it's time it moved along. As I started to head back up the rope the bit of ground I was standing on gave way and tumbled down into the stream. Thanks for the adventure but I suggest you raise the T rating

Rating definitely needs changing to a 4 terrain rating . The decision to attempt this cache may have been influenced by the fact that Merlot and I had just completed the G2 goat trail and finished off with a fortified lunch at the Leigh Sawmill. Having just done a series that could not be classed as 'level', this walk to GZ was even less so. It is a far more interesting and scenic walk than we expected. Having got to the hint item, we quickly realised that there was only room for one to descend down to purgatory. Merlot, having 'bubbles' from the Sawmill already coursing through her veins took on the challenge while I waited from above with 111 on speed dial. She took a few minutes but came up trumps once she'd found a spot where she could secure herself without using the hint item. It is certainly a first for both of us to find a Big GrinFTFBig Grin that is nearly 3 months old!! Thanks for the challenge Gareth C

We were in the area and saw that this was a new one that hadn’t yet been found. Was there a possibility of a FTF here? I didn’t get my hopes up too much because I wondered why it still hadn’t been found 16 days after first being published! It’s hardly the back blocks here!

Anyway we thought we’d give it a go. We got to the hint item, descended to GZ and started the search. My first comment is that this should have a terrain rating of at least 3.5! I was holding on to the hint object for much of my search to avoid tumbling a couple of metres down the slope! I looked in obvious places. Nothing there. I widened the search but still couldn’t locate the hide. I didn’t want to give up, but after 25 minutes or so decided that enough was enough!

I can’t help but wonder whether someone has looked for it before me, bearing in mind the number of days since publishing, but didn’t wish to record the first DNF! Well I’m prepared to admit that, sadly, I had to walk away empty-handed. A DNF rather than a FTF. I’ll be checking this one in another week or two to see when it does get found for the first time!
