Had a few more hours in Whangarei, so I went looking for some more caches in the area. This was one of today's finds. Thanks
After having my lunch nearby I tackled this one. The location is easy to find but I recommend taking this one from the bottom. There is more risk to the body coming in from the top like I did. It took me a few goes to find the right hidey hole but I got there eventually, once I stopped to think about what I was looking for. TFTC.
Out for a short walk along a stretch of the Hatea Ive not visited before. My final find for the afternoon here. A neat little historical feature for sure. Im sure itll be here for a good while yet too. A quick find as advertised Thanks Riser5#5232Logged using Cachly.
it took us surprisingly longer than expected because we did not find the old path :-O ... once found it was then a quick find. we have been often to whangrei, but had never been at this location before! TFTC
Must have been an impressive entrance once now quite overgrown and littered with fallen branches. Easy find once there. TFTC
TFTC! No trackable. Left 10 Japanese Yen in exchange for 50 Pesos! Duck Caches - #28
Took my step son on his first geocache hunt. He was so proud to find it. Unfortunately log was too wet to sign. Thanks for the find.
I went looking for the trackable but it has been removed also to replace the soggy log. I have left the aforementioned log upon a rock, should the CO ever wish to check-in.
Easy little find. Beautiful spot! Find #4! Unfortunately the container is not quite waterproof. So too soggy to sign.
Thanks for a fun find with my little guy. Cache is unfortunately very wet so couldn't sign log, but we enjoyed this find.
Cool walk - beautiful in the city- tftc it is currently hosing down so the log was wet
We were in the area to get a cache that was required for a challenge in Portland that we had signed off 5 years ago. Stopped off to get this one, cache easily located but the log book is mushy. Signed our name with care and tried to tip out as much water as we could. TFTC
1.15pm. At the park for a picnic lunch with extended family. A short walk to this hide and soon and found. The container was full of water and the paper very hard to write on. Managed a hard to see signature.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
We absolutely loved this park and all the paths that led to all sorts of possibilities. Log book damp but still signable today. Thanks for leading us here Riser
Found with a group of local Guides on a camp nearby. I'm surprised we haven't looked for this cache before as we're reasonably local and come this way often.

This is a fine example of one of the aspects I like about geocaching. I would never have known to check out this feature; it's a shame it is not put to better use. It took me longer than it should have to figure out where the treasure was hidden.
Had a bit of a hunt around at first but found the hide in the end. Lovely in here. Thanks for bringing us to this spot and for the cache. Left a trackable.
We’ve been past here so many times and didn’t know such a beautiful spot was here! A lovely wee find!
Second last of the day after a good but buys day.
This is close to our base for the few days we are in Whangārei, so it was an easy trek here. Quick find too. TFTC Riser5.
Day 3 of a road trip around Northland - today, Whangārei.
Plenty of options of things to do today, but the main thing is that it is RG1972’s birthday today, and it’s a significant one.
So she go to choose where we are off to, and my job is to drive there and not complain.
Decision made and Smugglers Bay it is! We’re leaving soon.
A quick look at the geo map and I can see some geo-art, but not many trads. OK, I had not realised we were heading here, I won’t have time to solve these. But then I dug a little deeper and for the majority of them, the solve is not too bad at all.
I quickly loaded the coords and off we went.
We found the first 8 mysteries with no issues, and the trads that were around. The others are probably up over there if they need to be done in sequence, so no issues ignoring them for the moment.
Enjoyed the walk, although the farm part of it was a bit slippery.
2 hours 20 minutes later we are back where we started and it’s off to start the rest of the day.
That included the Hundertwasser museum, a bit of shopping, a bit of relaxing and then dinner in town. Nice!
Thanks all COs.

A quick find in a brand new (to us) place! We
Didn’t know these stairs were here!

First find and an immediate head to with just the twins, then the girls. Treasure is pleasure for these caching wannabes.
(Full) day 2 and a meet up with Ed and his partner and the kids at Mair Park. We'd not been there before so was a nice new place to explore and we had a picnic lunch afterwards whilst the kids enjoyed the park facilities. Not too hot, and not too cold. Just like the Goldilocks' porridge, just right (for caching)
A long weekend in Northland and a nice catch up with our son and his family. We had 4 days and 3 nights staying at Ngunguru in the works bach and although caching wasn't high on the list we still had a couple of trips out and found a few, thanks to all COs. It's been a couple of months since we last saw little Hayes, our 16tth grandchild, so was good to see how much he'd grown.

Gosh such beautiful hidden stairs. Tackled the terrain with the knee and super to have a smile here
It was too early to check into our motel, so we came here for a hike. I was ablke to split off from the anti-cacher and find this one before she got too far down the path. TFTC.
After about 10 minutes of searching we were looking at the wrong wall then we were walking up and saw cache in hole really nice hide
1750. 2:12 pm. I've walked or ran the trail nearby a hundred or so times yet I never knew this existed. TFT(new local discovery and the)C.
Love this find thank you. Was looking at the wrong wall first but discovered it in the end.
Decided to go out and get a few caches before the rain set in. Found a car park - unusual for a weekend. Made our way to GZ. Had a bit of a search but stood back a bit and the hidey hole revealed its self. Cache located. Signed and replaced. TFTC
Easy find, didn't know these were here. Stairs seem to act as a run off drain during winter. TFTC
